My co-workers introduced me to this restaurant recently and raved about the food and portions. The portions are plentiful. I was only able to finish about half and had leftovers for later that day. I ordered the shrimp scampi linguini pasta and it was very flavorful. For the portions and the quality, the price can't be beat. I would definitely return again and try their other pastas. Get Ready to get ripped off as soon as you walk in the door. Was here maybe 2 years ago and I don't remember it being this bad. Bf and I walk in yesterday afternoon for lunch. Girl behind the desk greets us and I proceed to tell her we need a few minutes to take a look at the menu, she rolls her eyes and walks away (we should have walked out the moment that happened) I'm sorry but would you like me to have you wait for me to decide or would you rather me tell you its going to take us a few minutes to decide??? She never came back. Another lady took our order. It seems like nobody working there knows how to smile, I wish they knew what a difference that makes when it comes to customer service. Anyway we order and I asked if they have whole-wheat tortillas. Lady's response was NO! as if I was bothering her by asking, sorry for thinking a "healthy" restaurant might have them. I ended up changing my order and went with a very disappointing and sad BBQ chicken salad. Salad is their whole inventory of lettuce on a plate with chopped tomatoes, some bbq chicken pieces and shredded cheese, wow for $10 I'll rather go down the street to Chilis and get a colorful salad for the same price). What happened to corn, black beans, garbanzo beans SOMETHING maybe even onions? to try to convince me I'm getting what I paid for. This place thinks its okay to overcharge for mediocre food. Bf ordered a French dip and said it was nothing special... 2 drinks and a small bag of chips = around $25 NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! This place has gone downhill and there really is no hope for them. My experience was so horrible that I literally felt an overwhelming and explosive urge to throw up in my car and unfortunately I did. Not only was the owner really rude when we ordered but when our waitress told her that we didn't seem to like our salad. She just shrugged her shoulders and said oh well. The wine I ordered tasted like it was 3-days old and I am pretty sure that was the cause for my vomiting. Also our TriTip salad tasted days old, the tomatoes were sour and mushy to a point of being almost rotten, and the lettuce was really dark brown. Not only that but the meat was also very tough. I normally visit Greenhouse Cafe on my off day to have lunch and normally i get Good Customer Service, (smiles,the greetings) along with Good Food, my order prepared right and tastes really Good which makes me return back for more and I'm always telling other people to stop by and try eating at the Greenhouse Cafe. Sorry to say but on Sunday i didn't get that Good Customer Service. I always speak to the cashier and or waiter or waitress on this particular day Ms. Melissa customer service wasn't the best I assume maybe she was tired and maybe because it's very hot out, Not sure but when i spoke and ask how were you doing no response i said to myself oh wow! but i placed my order and requested for a certain dressing; she questioned that which didn't make sense to what she said to make this brief and to the Point! Service here was not at it's best As a customer not happy and to make things worse when i get home my order wasn't correct :-( Wow i'm guessing A. This is what you get for ordering out and not sitting down. B. Not checking your order before you leave out. This place is so outdated, it needs a complete makeover. Green drab and ugly scenery. This place changed ownership several years ago and sadly it hasn't been the same. They used to have a location in the Palmdale Mall but that closed because the food was pretty bad. We haven't been there for a good 10 years and decided to try it again. We used to go there frequently and have this place cater our parties. Went there last week for dinner. Ordered the famous cajun chicken salad $8.99 because the Cajun chicken salad used to be amazing. Although I went to the counter to order my meal I was charged an additional $2.00 so now I am paying over $11.00 fro a salad. The salad was brought to the table and it had nothing more than chopped romaine lettuce, croutons and dry lightly dusted chicken pieces. I counted about 4 small chicken pieces. The chicken was not at all what I remembered. Did I say that that was their famous and popular dish years ago? This was a complete disappointment. Bland, dry and boring. Do yourself a favor and go to Panera Bread or even Home town buffet is better. read more

I really like the food here at Greenhouse. They've been around in the AV forever. I have a few faves including their turkey crissoaint sandwichs, their spinach salad, and their Chinese chicken salad. I often pick up a salad and way too often there is nasty black rotten lettuce pieces. I have mentioned before so you would think they could up their quality control a bit. Not sure what the problem is they are certainly busy enough to be going through the lettuce quickly enough that it shouldn't go bad. Used to love this place and would get food here about once a month (just salads). Staff was always very polite and friendly, but then... (over the course of about 6 months) 1) Ordered salad to go, asked for extra dressing, got home and didn't get it (don't worry, it gets better). 2) We order catering at times. Went in and asked the girl at the register about it and specifically asked about the size. I was told "They're pretty big". Didn't show me any containers or anything. Ordered from a place that actually showed me what I was getting. 3) Decided to order the double salad to go. Paid an extra $4 for the double. Same box, filled the same, same amount of dressing. I got an extra piece of toast. $4 FOR A FRICKEN' PIECE OF TOAST??? 4) Ordered salad to-go and asked for extra dressing again. Sat there waiting and looked over to see one of the ladies (at least 40 yrs old or more, short hair) standing at the kitchen window rubbing her NOSE with her hands! Then grabbed a CLEAN plate & hand it to the kitchen staff to serve food on! I should have said something but I didn't, I think she may have been a manager. The only reason I took my food and left was because it was to-go and she didn't touch it. Did I get my extra dressing? NOPE. 5) Yeah, I actually went back! Made sure Ms. Sniffles wasn't there first. When they handed me my food (to-go again) I asked for the extra dressing at that time. I had to go back to the register and PAY for the two little containers that would have been free if I ate there! Suck it up... Got home, the box wasn't filled nearly as much as it normally would be. The lettuce had an excessive amount of water and several pieces of old, wilted, SLIMMY pieces of lettuce. I absolutely LOVE their creamy garlic dressing. It will be missed because I will NEVER go there again. WAKE UP and pay attention to your reviews! I've had pretty good dining experiences here (aside from under-seasoned pasta), but after my last visit I won't be back. I tried to use the coupon they print in the AV Press (buy one get one), and the girl at the counter REFUSED to take it. She said her manager Patricia said that it could only be used for "dining in". Well, that condition is NOT printed on the coupon (false advertising). Furthermore, it hasn't been an issue the past few years - we only order takeout and have never had an issue with the coupons. Either quit printing the coupons or stipulate "Dine in only" on the coupon. But fabricating new unwritten rules will lose you customers. Thanks but no thanks Patricia!!! read more

I'm so surprised at all the poor reviews. I've eaten in here and also had their catered sandwiches and salads. They are some of the best sandwiches that I've tasted. The only drawback is they are a bit pricey, but you are paying for quality. The croissant sandwiches are especially good. read more

I randomly came here for my lunch break and the server who greeted me doesn't even know how to smile. I ordered some seafood angel pasta, their portion is great it was huge but the taste is extremely bland and they put a lot of sauce so it was as if I was eating a pasta on a bowl of water! And on top of that there was a huge fly hovering around and having lunch with me! Amazing food but the owner is about as rude as they come. The cashier was friendly processing my takeout order, even offered me a cup of ice water to go since it was 100 degrees outside. The owner noticed she didn't charge me for extra meat after I already signed for my transaction. She literally got within inches of this poor girls face and said "SHRIMP ISN'T FREE" and made her charge me again. I've seen her over the years treat her employees like pieces of trash. Greenhouse is hit or miss. Some of the sandwiches and salads are amazing. The Cajun Chicken salad with poppy seed dressing is REALLY good, as is the turkey melt and club sandwiches. But the tri-tip sandwich is seriously disgusting. The meat is all rubbery and gross. I couldn't even finish it. I took a bite and had to chew the meat for like 5 minutes and sort of felt sick afterwards. Tried the "Turkey Dip" sandwich, served w/ a slice of pineapple and orange. It was good, Turkey was sliced, stacked, and tender. French roll was warm to the touch and glossy, done just right. The Au Jus was served in a big bowl, so there was plenty. Plus the broth was rich with just enough salt that gave the roll an incredible flavor. Salads here are also notable, you won't find dressing like Greenhouse's elsewhere. For around 7 bucks it filled me up well. Service here was very helpful, everyone was attentive and polite which makes a pleasant experience. Not a bad visit this time around, will be returning. read more

Greenhouse Cafe is one of my favorite places in the Antelope Valley to eat. I haven't been for a while now because I moved to the Los Angeles area. I'm kind of sad to read some of the reviews saying its went down hill. Next time I go out to visit I'll be sure to check it out and see. read more

Quality food and good service are what you'll get from Greenhouse Cafe! My husband and I are very particular when it comes to a restaurant (whether food, atmosphere or service) or we never go back. "Greenhouse" stood the test of time as we have been eating here for over 12 years now and we will continue to do so. I love their french onion soup, mandarin orange chicken salad with their signature sauce and chicken focaccia sandwich. His favorites are the shrimp gorgonzola pasta or shrimp thai pasta.
