I don't usually reach out to establishments we purchase from or visit. But today was an experience that definitely deserves a complaint. We wanted to try your establishment and ordered two medium bowls (3 scoops of protein) and chose salad mix as our carbs. The female server helped us prepare our choices and we paid and went on our way. To our surprise upon eating the food, under all the protein mixed in with the salad mix are a few twigs that have a lot of dirt in them. So my bowl was half filled with dirt and salad, this left a bad taste in my mouth, both metaphorically and literally. I do not see how the server is not able to visibly see that the salad mix is not clean or contaminated, seems deliberate. I think this is unacceptable especially when it comes to food. read more

Somehow the poke here tastes better than the the other five or six other places I've been locally. They told me that the proteins are fresh every day and the sauces are all homemade. I had their kimchi sauce which added just the right amount of kick. Never seen this sauce anywhere else. The shop is small, but has a nice atmosphere with Hawaiian music (not too loud). I like to come here to get a poke salad during my lunch time since it's close to my job. The selection here isn't that much compared to other shops but it does satisfy my craving. This place has really gone down in terms of quality and value. I just placed an order for pick up online. There was just a lot of issues. 1. Food was left unrefrigerated on the counter. Has the staff heard of food borne illness? I placed an order at 3:50 PM for pick up. I was finishing up at work and got held up a bit. I got there at 4:20 PM and the food was just sitting on the counter. Unrefrigerated. Big no for raw seafood. 2. I had ordered crawfish, I was given scallops instead. I'm not sure if they ran out or something, but I never got a phone call or anything notifying me and they just substituted it. What if I was allergic? 3. I paid $1 for avocado. I got a RIDICULOUSLY small portion. Other places charge the same amount for 2-3 times the portion I got. Save your money and go elsewhere.. It's no longer worth coming here. read more

Unlimited toppings, free avocado, big portions for a good price... what more could you ask for?? They practice social distancing measures and the staff wear masks and gloves. The employees are nice and work relatively fast for just having two staff members. The place seems pretty popular, having a constant influx of customers. The countertop could be wiped down more often because there were several left over bits and pieces of food & sometimes food hanging over the bowl would just be dragged on the counter. The fish seems relatively fresh, not too fishy. The small 3 scoops of protein was around $12. They were very generous with toppings and had a wide variety. I enjoyed their sauces; the house special sauces were unique and delicious! My favorite thing here is that the avocado is FREE which is super rare, and also I was able to get extra crab meat. The lady that served me and my friend was super nice and helpful when we had a lot of questions about the sauces. The service was fast. The rice is pretty standard, but I do think there is a little too much rice given. I got spicy mayo sauce and some other sweet sauce, but the mayo is definitely over powering and has a kick to it. The cooked shrimp is tender, and to be honest I can never really taste the difference between the fish so it was all good to me - soft and not too fishy. I also ordered a beef sukiyaki bowl, and you go through the same process as ordering for poke, just not the sauces. This one took longer to get ready, but mostly bc I think the beef was cooked fresh. Waited about an extra 10-15 mins for it. The dole whip machine was broken unfortunately :( Definitely coming back here! read more

Wow! First time ordering here via mobile app and it exceeded my expectations! I ordered online since the Stay at Home Act has been in effect. You can place the time when you want to pickup your order. It was fast and efficient! My boyfriend and I were craving for some poke and we stumbled on this poke joint when we were yelping a few local spots in the area. I ordered the large create your own bowl with protein: ahi tuna, salmon, scallops, shrimp, and tako. I also added brown rice with crab, avocado (it's free), sweet onions, cucumber, seaweed, ginger, furikake, toasted sesame seeds and oke sauce. It was so delicious! The quantity and quality was good, they were not stingy on the fish. The fish tasted fresh which is a bonus because I ran into poke shops where the fish tasted fishy. For dessert we got Hawaiian shaved ice - strawberry flavor and Pineapple Dole Whip! The Pineapple Dole Whip was good but a little sweet. But I am so happy that there is a shop nearby for my cravings of Pineapple Dole Whip! I found a new poke spot and definitely will be back! Yes, the serving area was a bit messy (as others have noted) the Sunday afternoon when we visited. Oh well, I'm sure it's hard to keep all the toppings in their own containers when there's a big rush of people. This place had the most topping selections out of any poke place I've ever tried, including spicy crab salad! Never seen that one before, all places ever have is regular. A scoop of avocado in your bowl is NO EXTRA CHARGE! This place also had the most fish selections. Others have complained about the fish freshness here. We didn't experience that at all, luckily. I had salmon, ahi tuna, and spicy tuna on my bowl. A 3-scoop bowl is $10.95 - great price for a generous amount of poke! The spicy tuna here wasn't too spicy where it overpowered my whole bowl. I love kick to my poke, but at other places, sometimes the spicy fish is just way too much. Here, I had jalapeños, spicy tuna, and spicy crab salad in my bowl and nothing was too overpowering. We had a disappointing experience at Oke Poke Monrovia last night. I did speak with a manager today who explained that there are new policies in place which were mandated by corporate. In the past, if you did not choose to have avocado, you could have an extra scoop of crab at no extra charge. That is no longer the case. Also, for years I have asked for double lettuce when getting a salad with no rice, which used to be available without extra charge. That is also no longer the case. In addition, the manager explained that they have been instructed to give less poke, even though the prices when up 25%!! I ordered 3 scoops of two types of fish. I usually ask for extra cilantro and extra onions but their scoops are already so big I didn't need to ask for more. The portions are so big that it's difficult to get to the base (in my case, brown rice). They have a lot of different toppings, fish options, sauce options, and dried topping options. My particular favorites were spicy masago, cucumber, cilantro, onions, salmon, fried onion, fried garlic, and the firecracker sauce. The firecracker sauce is essentially a spicier spicy mayo with sesame seeds in it. There was a good amount of seating inside and there's some tables outside. Service was friendly as well. The seafood is consistently fairly fresh and they have a great selection of toppings! They're also fairly generous with their scoops so I think the price is fair for a bowl. I love the dynamite sauce! It's just spicy enough and really puts the bowl together! The parking situation is ok - there's a large lot but the plaza is popular so while there's a lot of spots, it's a pretty full lot. Great poke and I'd totally recommend! Poke tends to be more expensive than other food options around the area but this Poke restaurant does a fantastic job maintaining a generously low price for the food while also balancing the quality and quantity aspects of the food. What I think this restaurant does a fantastic job of doing is that they are aware that not everyone wants a humongous bowl of Poke every single day so they had the brilliant idea of suppling a Small Bowl option for their customers. I've been to many Poke places and I haven't once seen another restaurant give the option of a small bowl. The food is also pretty delicious and very much worth the price.
