Ordered my food Togo and even had the women on the phone repeat my order back to me. The order was completely wrong. We got nachos, queso, and shrimp tacos. The nachos had the wrong meat on it, the beans that came with my shrimp tacos was wrong, and the queso was not appetizing, and my shrimp tacos were soggy like someone poured water into my Togo box. My mom felt sick while eating her nachos because the wrong meat was on it and because the cheeses tasted funny. It is unfortunate because this is a location we've visited in the past and had an enjoyable meal. I completely wasted my money and unfortunately we ordered Togo so we had no idea until I'd gotten all the way home. Recommended by our hotel staff to check this place out. We are so happy we did! When we walked in, the hostess greeted us warmly. After we were seated, the bartender/waiter Marcus welcomed us with high energy greeting. Marcus was fantastic. He was very attentive and treated us very well. Then the food. We got the fish tacos and shrimp tacos and they were delicious. We are extremely happy that our hotel concierge recommended this place to us. Horrible food and experience at Gringos. The server Luis was slow and our food was average. Restaurant was not busy as it was Saturday at 2:30 pm. We ordered queso and it was delicious. My wife and I had the seafood enchiladas and they were covered in cheese but lacking in flavor. The first problem comes with our kids food. We ordered them a soft taco with chicken and cheese. We were charged $6.19 for a taco al carbon. This is more expensive than the kids taco. It would have been nice to have been informed of this. The second problem came at the time of paying the bill. I slide my credit card in the slot and he walks off to process it. 10 minutes go by and nothing - waiting around. I say out loud, "For God's sake what is taking so long?" The manager comes over and says, "sorry did you need me to change the channel on the TV?" I tell him, "no I'm waiting on my check to get processed." Luis comes back 5 minutes later and tells me he has lost my credit card and they are going to check the cameras to find it. Another 5 minutes goes by and he re-appears and tells me that the card was there all along and that it had fallen in the back pocket of the leather holder. This is unacceptable. We waited 20 minutes to pay our bill after an already slow service to get our food. The only highlight of this meal was the queso. The service was awful and our entrees awful. read more

I eat at Gringos whenever I can now that I live in Texas, and it's always my go-to place for birthdays, events, dates, the like. My parents live in Washington state and they crave Gringos on a weekly basis; whenever they visit, the only restaurant they eat at 24/7 is Gringos! My mom has a very specific, refined palette, and only likes Michelin-starred restaurants. Yet, she adores Gringos and can't get enough of their food. First, the good: mixed fajitas were tasty, with good portions of beef, chicken, and large shrimp. The charro beans are also really good. This food is the only reason they get as high as 3 stars. Now, not so good: 4 tortillas for a $39 plate of fajitas? Seriously? The wait was 58 minutes, not the 45 minutes promised. And, I saw empty tables. The hostess could at least have apologized for her bust on the estimated wait time. Service was poor. Dirty Silverware that we had to ask twice to get replaced. And, I would have ordered another Corona, if the server had not been MIA. We have been dying for Gringo's during this quarantine and we finally got it! Yay! The reason why I have 4 stars is because of what happened upon arrival. When I called to place the order the girl was super nice and said to pull in front of the restaurant and they'd bring the food out when they saw our car. Even ask for the car description! When we arrived, we did just that. Then someone came up to our car, told them my name, and he was very passive aggressive telling us we needed to stay at the check in before we park because they're trying to create a system. He walked away before I could let him know I was just following the directions given to me. We parked in the spot he told us to park in, then we waited another 20 minutes for our food as we watched other cars who got there after us get theirs. Thank you to the kind girl on the phone and the man who brought our food. To the one who was rude...think about how others may be doing during this quarantine. We appreciate you all putting yourselves out there to work hard during this time, but other people have their own struggles. Just be patient and kind. Update - got home and there were two "bags" of chips with probably 5 chips in each and two tiny things of salsa. I gladly would have paid for a real helping of salsa. This pretty much gives me no reason to go here because everything else they make is just plain Mexican food like you can get anywhere else. I have placed take out twice from this Gringo's. Both times very disappoint in quality of food. Their red sauce is like ketchup. No Mexican flavor at all. Thick like it came out of a can. Their chips are too thin to dip. Both times when we got the food home it was cold and we live less than 2 miles away. It is like they make your order and it sits there and you are told not to arrive early per the times they give you on your order to go. Rice is dry. You get half the refried beans you would get anyplace else. If there was a Lopez next door it would put this place out of business. I will drive the 9 miles to go to Lopez before I ever go back to Gringo's. Taco Bell would be better. read more

I love Gringo's food but must admit that the service is usually mediocre. However, the visit to the Sugarland location deserved some acknowledgement. We came in really late, about 15 min before closing, so we weren't expecting great service. From the time we walked in, we were greeted, seated and served as if we were visiting at peak hours. Our server, Henry, was very accommodating by providing us suggestions. I'm a picky eater so I was expecting my food to be all wrong since it was so late but Henry made sure it was on point! The manager, Kelly, stopped by our table to inform us that our food would take a little longer since I had requested the Pollo Marisco with the sauce on the side. Kelly stated that the chicken would need to be fresh and she did not disappoint! The dish was the best I have ever tasted at any Gringo's! The food, the service, the drinks, and the waiters/waitresses were all so accommodating and attentive. Their salsas taste great. If you don't eat pork, stay away from their beans and anything with their chili sauce. They mention it has beef but there is pork in there too. Not sure about the flour tortillas. I have been told they are vegetarian friendly and also that they have lard. I always get their fajitas, enchiladas with poblano sauce, salads...mmm satisfying.
