I do love Groundworks Coffee and this location in the heart of Hollywood is no exception. We were early for the Freda show across the street and this was a perfect spot to pass some time. Nice clean shop with plenty of seating inside. The staff was friendly and made our drinks quickly especially considering they were pretty busy. I had a Red Eye, my Son had a Latte and both were very good. This was just a quick pitstop so we didn't have anything to eat but what I saw sure looked good. The addition of corn and cotija cheese just works so well together. -- Iced Beehive Matcha Latte 5/5 I've had some bad matcha lattes in my day and this was delicious. Mild matcha flavor, slight sweetness from the honey, and some warm cinnamon spice. You'll love this if you're into horchata or that leftover milk from a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Cleanliness (5/5): to be fair I didn't do a thorough "inspection " but everything from the customer perpective seemed clean. The condiment bar, food case and retail walls were clean and organized. Customer Connection (4/5): cashier was nice and friendly. Not a 5/5 because it wasn't extraordinary. Just a basic transaction. Service/Product Quality (4/5): we ordered a vietnamese iced coffee, iced mocha with soy milk, and nitro cold brew. These were really a mixed bag. We all enjoyed the vietnamese coffee, two of my friends liked the iced mocha (for me the chocolate flavor was good but the soy threw me off because of the varietals in soy milk), and the nitro cold brew was the most disappointing. First off, the fact that they recognized me a day after coming in shows that their customer rapport is on point. As someone who uses a french press at home and considering a Chemex, they were able to offer tips on making the correct brew and what roasts I would like. Day one: On shift my partner and I went with the Breakfast Burrito with chorizo made fresh in the kitchen and paired well with their chipotle sauce. Right amount of kick and was able to fill me up and satisfied without feeling too heavy for the day ahead. Day two: Went in for their Horchata Cold Brew not too sweet and kept me going for that afternoon crash. My partner had their light roast ready to go but was able to get the job done for the day ahead. The cafe looks great, with nice colors, an industrial look and plenty of seating available. The coffee was served quite quickly, even though the cafe was pretty much full. After a little wait (definitely not too long) we got the food, which tasted amazing. The French Toast looked a little dark, but tasted great. I very recently moved to LA (right before covid) so didn't have time to find my coffee spot before the lockdown... luckily groundwork does pickup. I get the large iced latte with oat milk, honestly it hits different. $6 for a 24 oz, I think this is a deal in LA considering most places do $6 for 16oz. Their coffee is deliciously smooth and the oat milk adds a subtle sweetness with creamy texture that oat milk has. Would love to know what kind they use. Overall this is my new coffee spot. Apparently it's local and organic so that's a major plus. Also conveniently next to mmd Hollywood... iykyk. I'll be back weekly on Saturday's to pickup my iced latte. I have gone back twice, since, and both experiences were superb. 1st visit - I ordered an Iced Latte with Oat Milk (as recommended by a few other reviewers) and a breakfast burrito with chorizo. My drink and food were delicious. 2nd visit - I ordered a Horchata Cold Brew and breakfast sandwich. The cold brew was delicious, however, the sandwich was just okay (dry). I was fan from the original Venice beach days. Have gone to the Hollywood store since they opened. I moved away and have not been back for a few years. Not the same friendly place. I went in about 8am to a grumpy guy taking my order. Not sure why he seemed so unhappy in his job but then the coffee girl was rude and short when I asked after 25 min 2 people in the shop how much longer a egg and bacon burrito would take Rude, unhappy employees & really slow food service makes me bummed for a place that was so great to stop into. Water the plants and cLean the bathroom! 5 employees behind the counter waiting to do stuff. All the plants are dying ladies and gents and the bathroom needs towels and a proper sweep. Take pride in your environment. Everything reflects everything else! I come from a hospitality, customer service background AND living wall business (PACiFIC VERTICAL GARDENS) and noticed the single succulent by the window and I grabbed the plant because it was crying for some bloody water! I walked over to one of five employees and asked they water their own plants. They still carry on in conversation and have not picked up on the hint. There is always something to do. Also was a barista overseas. Work ethic is dwindling and no one wants to work. I don't write many reviews and don't complain often. Finally found a cafe in la that serves Vietnamese coffee! I've been craving it for the longest time, and I was stoked to try the one at Groundwork! It wasn't too strong, and it tasted better than I expected. I also like how they're eco friendly and use sippy cups instead. They're breakfast burrito was pretty good! It was packed with potatoes, cheese, avocado, scrambled eggs, with this spicy aioli on the side. The ingredients were really fresh, and I was stuffed after eating half of it! I love how they have a lot of healthy options, this place is perfect for a coffee/lunch run! My only problem with this place was their WiFi. Oh man...the coffee here is like crack + meth, AT THE SAME TIME! I've been to Groundwork many times, and I seriously love their iced coffee. I recently stopped by for some coffee before the gym; drank half of it before my workout and then the other half after. I was up until 2am....cleaning my apartment lol. Great coffee, friendly baristas, and good vibe. So glad that it's on my way to the gym now. As a coffee addict, I'm grateful for this awesome place. So happy that I can walk here and not have to deal with all the traffic in Hollywood, especially on Cahuenga. Their other location on Larchmont definitely has easier parking. I look forward to trying some of their other items on the menu. Definitely have a lot to choose from, not just iced coffee. I need to try other drinks once in a while.
