Well, I just found this place looking for all day breakfast. They serve breakfast until 3:00. The place is smallish but not confining. Very casual. Not sure if Veteran owned but flags inside pay homage to our military. This place is a little different. You are assigned a number and an animal so they know where to serve food. I was 22 with a giraffe. Cool. Don't forget your number. If you do, remember your animal. I walked in just before Noon. I ordered and paid at the counter. I had my meal almost as I sat down. As we passed Noon the eat in crowd grew so I imagine service could slow a bit but still pretty quick. I loved my meal. However, and I hate to report this, I found a small hair, not mine, in the hash. I absolutely hate that. I did not finish the hash. The hash also had a slightly sweet taste that that I'm not used to but it was good. Because I think this place has potential I will only knock one star off for the hair. Normally, I would go as low as one star. Like I said I like this place and believe they can do better. I would add that it would be nice if they checked on you one time but this place is a hybrid between self serve and table service. Everyone else here looks like they are enjoying their food. Lots of folks. I did too. Just not as much as I could have. Visit Grumps. I think you will like it. I guess just be aware.

It's hard leaving this review, but I hope the feedback is received and adjustments are made if they want to expand their customer base beyond their loyal regulars. First, I'm a customer who might stumble in but might not return like me. The food was okay. It was not necessarily cooked to my request. The food wasn't particularly seasoned, but seasoning was provided at the table, so it's not a major issue. The sausage links didn't feel fresh and didn't have that crisp casing you'd expect on a freshly cooked sausage link. The bacon was nicely salted and crispy. They had all the condiments. I liked the self-serve drinks with free refills. My main issue was the service from the moment I was greeted -- or rather, not welcomed. I was handed a menu and told I needed to order at the register. I asked if I could sit down first and repeat that I wanted to sit down. I asked again if I could sit first, and with a very reluctant look, I was given the menu. I then sat down without any questions, no inquiries about whether it was my first time, no explanation of how things work here. Nothing. The nice gentleman who pointed me to my table and brought my food was the only one who checked on me. Besides that, no one asked if I needed anything. I was finished eating about five minutes when I realized no one was coming to check on me. I got up, went to the self-service counter, and asked if I could get a to-go box or if it would be given to me. I was told by the staff that all I had to do was ask. Not good vibes at all -- it really gave me the sense that it was a family-owned business. If this is a family-owned business, I would strongly suggest that they hold a family meeting to discuss what needs to be done to keep the business within the family or hire outside the family and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere when customers walk through the door. I'm leaving thinking... is this why the place is called Grump? That shouldn't be the thought on a customer's mind.

Grumps Café is a family favorite for us. My kids and I always enjoy stopping by for a quick, satisfying meal, and it's consistently a great choice whether we're coming in for breakfast or lunch. We especially love the pancakes, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and omelets--and I really appreciate that they offer egg white options as well. It's a no-frills, come-as-you-are kind of place, which adds to its charm. There's a genuine family feel to the café that makes every visit enjoyable, and it's one of those places we always look forward to returning to.

We have lived down the road for just about a year and are so upset it took us this long to check out Grumps! 1. Great breakfast spot name. 2. Host and employees are very kind and welcoming. 3. Delicious spot for breakfast treat! We had a great experience!

First of all very friendly service. I appreciate them answering the phone and taking my to go order. Their bacon egg white cheese on toast and or english muffin is too good. Today i had a burger for the first time. It was cooked perfectly. Also got sweet potato fries on the side. Great size, tasty and soft. Its located at the entrance of the shopping center. Plenty of parking. There is also outside seating

Avocado lettuce tomato (ALT) And steak salad. The alt was fresh, tasty and filling. The side of coleslaw was fresh and crunchy The steak salad could include more fixings, but the steak was tasty It was busy like it often is

I finished a workout class nearby and was famished so I decided to try a new café. I am happy that I found grumps Café. The food is fresh, the servers are nice, and the beignets are absolutely delicious. The blueberry pancakes and the cinnamon butter Were also a nice touch. The potatoes are hands-down, one of my favorites. It can get quite busy, so definitely come when you can

Loved the simplicity of this breakfast spot! Great service and outdoor dining. We needed to start to work week off right and decided to try Grumps for the first time. Beautiful day and great food! We will be back!

Cute concept of a classic diner! This is a chill place where there's no need to get dressed up because the staff where's pajamas to serve breakfast! They serve all day breakfast: which makes them a favorite for dbabe! And the food comes out hot and quick! Always seasoned to perfection and I really enjoy the chicken and the eggs- which came first ?! Lol and Babe switches up what he gets but this time he got a meat omelette! You can create your own drink: fountain drinks and coffee... Babe always makes our coffee- I'll say surprise me because they have a few to choose from- and I like surprises (only the good kind) and then we feast! It really gives an at home feeling because the coffee is made in the real mug. I definitely recommend checking them out if you're in the crofton area !

Updating this to FIVE stars! Went back and had their beignets and let me tell you, they are delicious. Cafe Du Monde in NOLA may have a sweet competitor. The southern Benedict is awesome. Fried green tomatoes instead of the English muffin. Perfect!

My waffles were perfectly crisp while also sweet, the portion was perfect for someone who doesn't love a huge breakfast. Grumpys is a casual breakfast spot - stopped by with a few friends while on a road trip! we got our food fairly fast and still warm (the best part).

    Chocolate chip pancakes
    Brittney S.

Stopped here in search of mid-morning breakfast. They have a pretty big menu, but I decided to keep it simple and go with chocolate chip pancakes , which comes with sausage or bacon. The pancakes come with cinnamon butter, but I requested regular butter, which another Yelper recommended, and the staff was happy to make the change. The dine-in area was pretty busy for Monday morning ,and I also saw cars picking up curbside orders. Customer service was good, and the staff wear pajamas, which I think adds to the charm of the place. Pancakes were big and filling, no complaints !

We had a free morning so decided to give this place another try. Our first experience was takeout, and this time we dined in. Very basic, cute little diner; table numbers/markers are plastic toy animals, graffiti floor, small toys line the counters and staff uniform is pajamas. Upon entering, you are handed menu, assigned a table and directed to the register to place your order and pay. Self serve beverages (if you purchased) and take your seat. Food is delivered by a staffer. Food. Average. We had - -Sunshine breakfast- 2 eggs, turkey sausage, potatoes, toast. Asked to add onions and peppers "while cooking," potatoes, however they were added after. The potatoes were chunks/cubes and lacked flavor. --Veggie omelet and we added hash inside. We order this at other venues, but this presentation was different. Veggies were not sautéed before adding to the egg and looked more like the egg was lightly scrambled instead of an omelet fold. The flavor missed the mark as well. --waffle. This was good. Not great, good. Food was not piping hot when arrived which is puzzling since the kitchen is not 30 ft away. Turkey sausage, bacon, coffee were great! Overall, the breakfast food is average. We will try the lunch menu on a future visit and update the post. Enjoy!

Very crowded and lots of servers, bus people and workers. They were all moving around with great speed, carrying big trays full of food and constantly cleaning up after a table had been vacated. It was like watching some sort of massive choreographed musical number in a Broadway show. Almost every table was full when we arrived. Conservations and laughter rang throughout the restaurant all night. The activity added to the nice ambiance of the busy dining room. The food was very good. I started out with the half and half cream of crab/Maryland vegetable crab soup. Very good! Was it the best I have ever had? Probably not but it has nothing to be ashamed of. Okay, so maybe the thickening agent (flour?) was a bit heavy but I enjoyed the heck out of that soup nonetheless. I ate every drop and wished I had more! My main course was pecan crusted halibut. OMG fantastic! A huge piece of halibut that was perfectly cooked and presented. The sauce was delightfully sweet and savory at the same time. I loved that fish! You know what else I loved at Knoxie's Table? Sarah, our server! She was friendly, talkative, efficient, helpful and really nice to be around. From the moment Sarah introduced herself, she showed us just about the sweetest disposition of anyone I have ever met. And she was a great server on top of that! Thank you, Sarah, for making our dinner at Knoxie's Table a wonderful experience. It is a bit weird to drive over 1 hour to the Eastern Shore to go to a restaurant that is not on the water. Usually, when we drive that far, we are headed to a destination restaurant with beautiful views of the Chesapeake, cool breezes off the water or something to remind ourselves that we are in a different place. Here, in Knoxie's Table, you could be anywhere. You are not on the water, there is no view of a dramatic sunset, you don't see flocks of seagulls agitating each other for a scrap of food. But you go to Knoxie's Table on the strength of the food and, in our case, the luck of having a wonderful server like Sarah. I will have other meals where I see the Chesapeake or smell the fresh air off the Bay. But I will never have a dining experience as perfect as the one I just had at Knoxie's Table. I highly recommend Knoxie's Table to one and all!

We arrived to a mostly empty restaurant with lots of available seating...or so we thought. After waiting several minutes at the front before the hostess returned to seat us, we were taken to a booth that was imminently next to other guests and were informed the next both over, entire row near the back and the entire row next to the patio were reserved (for a parties that didn't arrive the entire time we were there) when we asked if anywhere else was available. Avoid the air fried chicken products - the chicken tenders and chicken sandwich were both paper thin and extremely dry. Our server seemed as though she would rather be anywhere else than serving our table, food was delivered by someone in a "chef's" coat, drinks were refilled by another server who happened to be walking by and noticed our glasses were empty and a manger checked in on us (who we shared our concerns with and who offered a replacement option) all while our server took care of another table, or sat in a private dining room at the back of the restaurant chatting with other staff. As for the ambiance - there really isn't any other than open and bright? Maybe it's better later in the evening or on the weekend, but as far as week nights - it's fairly mainstream. We keep returning to True Food as the healthier option hoping that the service, food quality and execution will someday match the price and location; however, this was likely our last experience.
