We were in town for the weekend and saw a few places we wanted to try and I am glad they weren't open because we stumbled upon this place. It was very popular. Its a small eclectic artsy place. They serve breakfast and lunch with some different but favorite options. They also sell art on the walls. We tried a breakfast sandwich and the skillet. Both had great flavor ad full portions. Grumpy's Cafe is a Cleveland institution and is very busy for a good reason - it has pretty good brunch food and a great vibe! They don't take reservations but since there were only two of us and were flexible on where we would sit, we only waited 5 minutes to be seated on a busy Sunday morning. The interior is cute and offers unique art for sale. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was kind and attentive and always on hand to refill our coffee cups. I ordered an egg white Western omelette with a side of Italian toast and home fries. The slices of American cheese on top was kind of yucky and downgraded the quality of my western egg white omelette. I now know better for next time to ask for it to be taken off. Also, my Italian toast was just unnecessarily drenched in butter. The home fries and the contents inside the omelette were very yummy. No complaints there. Also, the prices are reasonable and the egg white upcharge wasn't insane. Solid brunch choice in Tremont! They have a parking lot which is awesome, and service was fast. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait for our party of two at 11am on Saturday but the wait only ended up being about 15 minutes or so. We sat at the counter. I ordered the Jefferson omelet and my friend got the veggie omelet and they came out hot and fast! Both came with a side of their Cajun potatoes and toast (Italian, wheat, or rye) and had real vegetables inside, which is the only way for me. Nice little restaurant in Tremont. We looked up the best breakfast in Cleveland and this was number one on the list so we had to try it out. It was crowded when we got there around 10 am, but with two of us, we did not have to wait more than a few minutes. We got a very nice table and had a great server. We retuned to Grumpy's Cafe for a second time on our way home from Sandusky, and it did not disappoint! Luckily, there wasn't a wait (Wednesday); however, when we went on the weekend in the past, it was packed! Last time we waited 45 minutes for a table. Our waitress was kind and attentive. She didn't let our waters fall below half full. They also sell artwork from local artists all around the restaurant. It's pretty cool to look at while you're waiting for your food! When u first walk in thru the door the 1st thing that hits you is the heat, it is really warm inside the restaurant. It is a pretty happening place but not very big so u are put on a waiting list which doesn't take long, I ordered a rueben omelette with wheat toast and it came out pretty quick. The omelette was VERY cheesy and the Thousand Island dressing was homemade and was a very good topping onto the Omelette. Grumpy is a classic breakfast place that displays works by local artists. The breakfast food is excellent. They now even have gluten free pancakes! There are plain and cinnamon - cinnamon ones were very good. The coffee is good, I got the flavored Peppermint kind (seasonal flavors change) it's a big cup, but it's $5, which is expensive for coffee. Much better than typical diner coffee tho. The portions are "normal" and you won't go away hungry. It's a bright and cheerful spot with cool decor and really friendly staff. I recommend trying it for breakfast, brunch or lunch! read more

Solid spot to grab breakfast in CLE. We came on a Friday morning and we were seated right away. It's a small, intimate diner with a classic breakfast menu. Service is fast, friendly and efficient. I got a classic breakfast of scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast. Overall, the food is average and there wasn't anything that "wowed" me, hence the average 3 star rating. I would say this is a very family friendly place. My 1 year old niece was crying a big chunk of the time we were here and it didn't seem to phase anyone (staff or other diners). So something to note if you have little ones. I would go back, but it wouldn't be my first option for breakfast in CLE.
