It was finally my turn to go. I had heard from neighbors, relatives, facebook pages and the like about Grumpys. I mean the place is soooo close to my house. Why didn't I go sooner? It's pretty brand new and in a new happening area of Nassau County. Wildlight. Right beside the Publix supermarket. We were rushing home from Daytona and were concerned that we wouldn't make it on time before they closed at 2 PM. We made it and with plenty of time to spare. Seated immediately, we looked at the huge selection of both breakfast and all day items. It was really hard to decide but I went with the fried green tomato eggs Benedict. Wow! Did not disappoint! Fried green tomatoes can be risky because you never know what you might get. These were perfect and the hollandaise sauce was an excellent compliment. Instead of the regular sides you can get any other sides or in my case the chicken tortilla soup! Holy chicken tortilla that was a bomb of flavor and I wished I would have opted for a larger portion but after having my eggs and sneaking off some fries from my wife's plate dipped in spicy hollandaise sauce from her fantastic OP burger. Wow! A great diner experience, and an incredible server in Jennifer E. We were quickly seated on a Sunday morning, and enjoyed an omelette and a French toast. The food was delivered fresh, and it was well prepared. Our drinks were refilled frequently by our server Jennifer, and she just had the most incredible demeanor of happiness combined with being respectful, yet casual. I wish I could describe it better, but she's just a superstar. Overall, a wonderful restaurant, reasonable pricing at about $20 per person all in, and great service. We stopped here on the way back from Florida. What a great little place! Good people, friendly staff. Our food was delicious and came out in a reasonable amount of time. We all enjoyed our food. The most I was happy about was the changing tables in the men's bathroom! We needed to change my son's diaper and my husband went in there and it was so clean and well stocked! It was super packed at this new restaurant in Yulee but as a part of 2, we were only waiting for about 20 minutes. The flavored coffee of the day was caramel nut and it was DELICIOUS!!! Wish I could get the ground to make at home. It's a very family oriented feeling and even with a screaming baby sitting a few tables down, I felt at home! I was so excited for this restaurant to open. There is not a decent breakfast place in Nassau county until you get to Fernandina..... and there still isn't. I don't get all the reviews talking about the great food everything was bland. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was the coffee, it was maple pecan or something like that and was some of the best brewed coffee I have ever had. My wife had a create your own omelet that came with toast my wife asked if she could get a pancake and pay an upcharge which we could and the server insisted we call a sub 1. The omelet had no flavor, some of the toppings were cooked in with the eggs instead of layered inside with the meat and cheese. Her "sub 1" did not come with her food. The server stated first that the cook didn't see it and was making it fresh, then he burned it so he was making another one. By the time she got hers, she had eaten some of mine and decided she did not want hers, which turned out fine because the server told us they were not charging her the upcharge. I opted for the hamburger steak breakfast. I also had the "sub 1". My eggs were OK, I just really think it is hard to mess up over medium eggs. None of my food seemed to have any seasoning. The hamburger tasted like just ground beef patted out and put on the grill, they had A-1 so I was able to doctor it up a bit, I will say it was cooked properly just had no flavor. The grits appeared to be just water and grits, cooked not instant, but no salt, pepper, bacon grease, nothing to add flavor. I paid extra to add cheese and it wasn't helpful. The sub 1 pancake was not good at all, very dry and was overcooked but after the fiasco with my wife's pancake we were not willing send mine back. I was really disappointed with this experience, having a local sit down breakfast place close to home was really a big deal to me. I will not be back. read more

It looks like a breast filleted into three pieces. The tuna fish sandwich on rye is absolutely beautiful, sitting on homemade bread not just regular sandwich slices. The country breakfast sounds like a lot of food but compared to the other plates, it looks more like a kids meal. The French toast was good, also homemade bread. They have a coffee and water station outside along with a small play area. We ordered the freshly squeezed OJ. It was so fresh it tasted like I was eating an Orange!
