We did not have a pleasant experience here tonight. My dad ordered the chicken pot pie, which was just the gravy-there was no chicken at all. The manager checked with the kitchen and found that it was a "new batch" and hadn't been mixed properly. Ummm, what? For a $17 pot pie, there is no excuse for the kitchen to send out such a sloppy mistake. I had fish and chips and pulled out what appeared to be a rubbery, circular worm. Nope, not a vein, or anything else that should have been there. Gross. May husband had the peppercorn steak and said it was good. The manager was great and removed the offending items from our check. I've been here a bunch. Somehow I always end up with the shitty waiter. Came at 2:45. Seated. Waiter comes by says he'll be right back. Comes back at 3:01, exactly 1 minute after lunch menu is available. I question this and he says its too late. Um. Just because you are slow doesn't mean WE were late. The food is plentiful and reallllllly tasty - I've had a few different salads and their chicken salad sandwich. I've never sat "inside-inside" if you will, and rather find myself on the fully enclosed indoor patio. It's usually fairly clean but my last visit was pretty nasty (see photos). Gurley Street has always been my husband and I's favorite place to eat in Prescott. We have eaten here a few times with our families and for some special occasions in the past. Today we drove from where we live in Mesa to Prescott for our anniversary and had to stop here for lunch. I love the back patio with the windows (unfortunately today we were unable to sit there due to a large party) however they still sat us at the front windows which is a great view of courthouse square. The pistachio chicken wrap is my absolute favorite with the fried jalapeños and we did have the calamari as well (we get calamari at every restaurant we've gone to that serves it) which is definitely one of the best I've had. We stopped by at lunch time on a Saturday... host was friendly but our server literally looked like she'd rather be doing anything else but serving there - she was curt, quick, and it was like interacting with a robot. I noticed a few of the girls also serving nearby had the same demeanor and attitude... oppressed ladies at work?? dunno... Anyway, it didn't help that our food was LAME-O. I think this place gets lost in the excitement of Whiskey Row. it's not very flashy. it seems like a sports bar. pretty non descript. We just moved to Prescott and my goal is to try every restaurant. it's pretty stiff competition. We've had a lot of great meals. my least fave so far is that COLT meat place. but that's another review...anyway, i had passed Gurley Street Grill a few times and def wanted to try it. i just had a feeling. one night my husband and i were on our way to a trendier tapas bar, when i remembered i wanted to go to GSGrill. my husband was reluctantly in tow. we went in and i had to giggle when i saw there was a full bar and I exclaimed to the very young waitress "OH! cool! a full bar!". she looked at me like i had 3 heads and said, "i don't know what that means..". i almost took that as a bad sign, but we stayed and it turned out our waitress Bridget was extremely knowledgeable in a FULL BAR, and brought us a couple delicious manhattans. when we asked her about the food she suggested the beef stroganoff. my husband ordered that, as i gave him an "are you SURE?" look. i had the Grilled chicken wrap. Bridget suggested the onion rings. OMG. the food was absolutely yummy. hot, fresh, super freaking good. My husband said it was the best beef stroganoff he'd ever had. I live in Vegas, but have been here a total of 3 times. My parents live in Prescott, and brought me each time. My first 2 visits were good, but the 3rd was HORRIBLE! I used to work in F&B for over 10yrs, so I notice a bit more than the average diner, so here we go... We were seated promptly at a booth. The booth seats and table were dirty with lots of food crumbs. Ordered fried zucchini and mushrooms for appetizer, hold shrooms only zucchini. My mother was raving about the chicken pot pie which she has ordered 3 times, and she ordered it again. Sister ordered a sandwich wrap, daughter ordered cheese ravioli with marinara, and I ordered chicken scampi. Zucchini came out quickly. It looked terrible. There were about a dozen soggy grease dripping barely coated slices on plate. When picked up, they literally drooped in half. Not sure how, but the ladies actually ate these. Maybe because everyone was starving. I couldn't bring myself to eat it. After almost an hour, our food came. (It wasn't busy, lots of empty tables) Chicken pot pie. Large plate/bowl with basically split pea soup and a piece of what appeared to be a piece of fried filo dough placed on top. -Literally. - Not encased inside the dough as every other time she'd been there. Mine was an Alfredo sauce with garlic, not scampi sauce. Chicken wrap looked acceptable. Ravioli dish : marinara sauce was crusted over. It was obviously sitting in the window too long waiting on the other dishes. My mother expressed her concerns with the "chicken pot pie" not having chicken, being basically a pea soup with fried dough on top. Waitress said, "that's how they've done it for years". This was infuriating because my mother has had it every time she'd been here in the past, and NEVER like this. I explained how mine wasn't scampi sauce at all. Waitress said, "yeah, our old chef created that dish but didn't leave the recipe when he left so we just threw that together". Wow, unbelievable. At this point I was starving because I hadn't eaten all day since I just drove to AZ form NV. Waitress offered to get me something else, but after so many things I noticed, I didn't want to chance it. My sister offered me half of her sandwich, but I declined. I had an onion ring from her dish and although it looked good, I could taste the old burnt oils they used. Obvious they aren't changing the grease often enough. My niece said she like the ravioli, but she's a kid that can't recognize the crusted sauce like most would. Seeing as I'm on this rant, I'll say everything that was unacceptable. The check had an up-charge for onion rings on my sister's chicken wrap dish. This is fine if you INFORM the guest of the up-charge. Waitress simply asked her what she'd like as a side and listed off choices, fries, salad, soup, onion rings. I used to work in F&B for years, and after a disastrous table like this, you offer to comp the meal in hopes of a return, and hope for the best. They took off the two meals that were returned as well as the soggy zucchini appetizer. Waitress kept saying, "come back, come back again. " That was nice of her to say, but this entire experience was a perfect example of how to NEVER get a returning customer. What incentive do we have to return? While on travel here in Prescott, Arizona, we walked by this place in historic downtown. I noticed that on the menu they had "pot pie." I love pot pies, so I thought I'd give it a try. Hands down, this pot pie wins! Love the idea the chef had with the top! Kudos!!! It doesn't get soggy and it's flaky. It's unusual when you look at it, cause he puts it on top. My boyfriend and I moved here the beginning of June and we have been going to Gurley St. since. The employees are fabulous! Every single one of them are so nice and sweet. We go a bit to much probably because they are starting to recognize who we are but oh well! It is to good to not. Plus it is nice to go to a place where you feel comfortable. The food is fabulous and never once was under par. I would HIGHLY recommend the pretzels if you haven't had them already. Also, they have fabulous French fries! They seated a patron with a dog in a backpack carrier (which proves it's not a service animal). What was worse, the diner put the dog on the seat next to her which is completely unsanitary. An actual service animal would be trained to lay down at the owners feet and would never be allowed on the seats. The waitress even looked round and said to them "I don't think anyone will care" - so she knew it was wrong and did it anyway. If they're violating even the most basic food safety standards openly in front of customers, what other health code violations are occurring in the kitchen where you can't see them? Service was very friendly, although not the quickest considering the small amount of tables dining. They offer complimentary garlic bread to start out with which wasn't bad, but mainly I was just hungry. The entrees arrived within a decent amount of time. Food was just okay. Coca-Cola sauce on the brisket is sticky sweet with a slight hint of spiciness. Despite a few inedible pieces, it was extremely tender. Came with a disappointing side of flavorless mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The margherita pizza comes with pesto sauce and is topped diced tomatoes, chiffonade basil, and horribly burnt bitter chunks of (possibly roasted?) garlic. I had been interested in trying the fried ravioli until it arrived at the table looking like an indistinguishable hot mess of marinara sauce and melted cheese with a sprinkle of parsley. This place is nothing special. Went here with a party of 4 and 3 out 4 of us didn't care for our meals. Cobb salad was not what you would expect for a Cobb salad. Brisket was all fat, we sent that back and ended up ordering a Pot Pie, which came out about 1 minute after our waitress took the brisket away (crust was undercooked compared to the other pot pie that was at our table), so I guess we took the pot pie from another person's order? 2 of the party had the pot pie and it was just so-so. I personally ordered the Bean Burger Wrap which I really enjoyed, no complaints about that. We also shared an order of jalapenos bottle caps which were really fantastic. Our waitress was nothing special either, didn't seem like she should be in the customer service business. Got annoyed while we were asking questions about menu items. It was out first time there, since we are from Phoenix we didn't know what was good or not. She should be a little more friendly since she is in a such a touristy city. Wow this is not the Gurley Street Grill I grew up with in Prescott. I am assuming that Murphys is no longer attached with this eating establishment. They had some of the things they had years ago but the quality of the food has gone way downhill. There were no breadsticks, the salads were small and didn't have the yummy veggies they used to have. What happened to the rotisserie chicken machine at the front of the restaurant. Our waitress wasn't attentive, brought our salads after we ate our food. Drinks didn't get refilled. Just not a good overall experience. Sad to see this once busy thriving restaurant have like no patrons at 6pm on a Saturday night. read more

There was literally one small sliced strawberry, 5 blueberries, zero raspberries, rolled up deli turkey, and the goat cheese dressing tasted like they just mixed goat cheese with Italian dressing. Considering the berries and blue cheese, a raspberry vinaigrette would have been better, but honestly this was the worst salad ever. If you like a smelly, dirty restaurant and frozen food, feel free to eat here. We made this mistake yesterday. It was fairly empty, a key sign that all was not right. Nevertheless, my husband and I hoped for the best. We were seated and served quickly by a nice waiter, so it was a good start. There were crumbs on the seats and a napkin under the table, but I dealt with it. Then the food arrived. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie on the enthusiastic recommendation of our server. It was not a chicken pot pie. It was a soupy, bland mix of chicken and mushy vegetables at the bottom of a plate, with a wide, flat puff pastry laid on top. Not even close to a pot pie, perhaps more like chicken a la king upside down? I had the fish and chips. I was going to ask the server if it was hand-battered before we ordered, but I didn't want to come across as pretentious. Big mistake on my part. It was definitely frozen, in mysterious little oblong shapes right off the assembly line. I had fries with it, which were also frozen. Being starved, I ate the fries and 1 piece of fish. The server asked us how things were, and we said just ok. Then the bill came and went away. When he brought back our card, the server brought a piece of dry-looking carrot cake to smooth over the food issue. He was uncomfortable and seemed a bit ashamed that this was all he had to offer, instead of comping part of the meal at least. I guess it's restaurant policy, not his fault. This was our third time driving up from Phoenix and visiting the Grill for lunch. Every time we've been, we've found the staff to be friendly and efficient. Erik waited on our table today and we enjoyed his banter with all the customers in our area of the restaurant. He was funny and seemed to anticipate our needs before we did. Now for the food,...I got the Chipotle Burger and oh.my.word! It was so freaking delicious! Chipotle butter infused beef, pepper jack cheese, avacados, tomatoes and jalapeno bacon topped with ranch dressing. My mouth is watering just thinking about it... I decided to get a side of onion rings (which were amazing too) and in an effort to not carb out TOOOOO much, I ordered the burger "protein style." Well, that was the juiciest, messiest, most flavorful burger I think I've ever eaten! I visited the gurly street Grill on a rainy Tuesday evening , the old western architecture in Prescott is charming beyond words, and I'm a sucker for any restaurant in an old brick building with the name grill on the front.. I walked in and was seated right away, the odor is musty and the lighting is dim but it's what you'd expect/want. I'm not sure if the table where I was seated was comprised entirely out of sticky syrup but I would bet it was at least 90% syrup / 10% wood table. Waited for 15 minutes, and no one ever addressed me..not even a "I'll be with you in a minute" nothing , so I left, goodbye gurly street grill, goodbye syrup table...forever. read more

The food was okay but my issue is this as we were getting ready to leave our server who called herself Red comes over and obviously see the tip, she completely changed the way she was treating us, she kept mumbling to herself and throwing things on the table, she then decided to lean over the table to my boyfriend who handed her the card to pay and goes "I care for you I cared for you you have a blessed day." Sure that may Sound nice but it's the manner and the tone she used towards him. And then we were walking out and she rolled her eyes and was extremely sassy. Ate at Gurley Street Grill on Monday. I got the onion rings and there was water inside the ring and they tasted funny. I told the waitress and her exact words were "yeah I don't like them either". I literally only ate that one bite and I was sick with food poisoning for two days and still don't feel right, but I'm able to get out of bed. So that's a plus. read more
