I attended a gathering with special friends for an early dinner upstairs . I enjoyed the food and service. The barbecue ribs were delicious tender and seasoned just right and they kept those trays comin ... huge slices of corn bread Cole slaw and sides to go with it prepared buffet style. Melissa the waitress was on top of it. Very impressive for the Amt of people she was keeping track of, all the beverages ordered, and other requests. Giant thank you to any staff that helped her that evening, but she was the main one I saw keeping up with everyone .. she helped a lot in that most memorable meal and event for all of us that evening. I had not been to the Gurley street grill in a while, but tell you what ... next time I get a craving for ribs I'm heading back there again, and I love the atmosphere, vintage decor, nice view from the window, and clean convenient restrooms. read more

Our server Heather was delightful!! I asked Heather what the soup of the day was and she told me it was "St. Patrick's Day in a bowl" and she brought me a sample!!! Delicious!! We ordered the Corned Beef Stew and we were so happy we did. The staff really was friendly and that deserves 5 stars but the food was only okay. I had the Cajun chicken wrap and the chicken was over salted. It didn't have a Cajun kick at all, just salt. It was too much. Steak bite appetizer too salty as well. The chipotle burger my husband had he said was underwhelming and nothing special. We ordered the mix basket of fried mushrooms and zucchini, it was good and the breading didn't immediately fall apart. My husband got a burger which was cooked as requested. Finally tried this place after living in the area for almost two years. Big fail. Food took forever to arrive even though the place was 75% empty. Husband got caprese salad that was SWIMMING on a plate of pesto. Ummmm...NO! The carrots and celery served with his wings were dried up and the celery had brown edges. Seven of us enjoyed a wonderful early dinner yesterday, May 15. We sat in the back so we would enjoy conversations w/o interrupting other guests. The area was spotless and full of that welcome spirit with TV's & great tunes playing. We had 7 different dishes and WOW! Everything was delicious! And prepared perfectly! Came here on a whim and was not disappointed. Had the BBQ Burger, of which I'm not usually a fan, and was very pleasantly surprised. Service and attention to detail were also excellent. To boot, the building - formerly the Mulvenon Saloon - is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so you feel like you get a little history while there. We went to eat for our anniversary and we ordered calimari waitresses said we're out ordered half chicken plate said we're out.canceled order then manager came and said oh we found our rots which I know what that ment but my husband didn't we said ok go ahead and cook order. Well should've just left got back to our hotel that we spent 200 a night to have a great anniversary and my husband is very ill. We paid 70 dollars for food poisoning and our anniversary to be ruined and two night stay down the drain. I will be contacting manager owner and the health department. We came during graduation so we were expecting it to be busy. However, we did come early and ordered before the crowd. And to be honest it was not that busy. We were a party of 9 that ordered together. There were 4 people who got their food and completely finished before the other half of the party got theirs. We stopped for lunch and were very happy with all of our food. My husband had a cheeseburger that which was so juicy and perfectly cooked it didn't need condiments. My kid's Mac and cheese was incredible and homemade. I had the Sal Lute salad. It was an odd combination of flavors but the salmon was cooked perfectly. Our server was incredible. I give this place 2 stars because of the quick, attentive service.... otherwise it would be lower. There appears to be new owners. We came here because in the past, we loved the breadsticks, covered with garlic chunks.... but no more. The breadsticks are okay, but no garlic. The corn chowder tasted burned. Indeed, when I looked at the corn, it was black on one side. The bun on my pulled pork sandwich was burned black! What chef or cook would send such a sandwich out? I showed it to our waitress, asked her to tell the cook.... and nothing ... no response other than, "yes... it's it's burned." We will not return.... too many good choices elsewhere. read more

My family went to visit a long time friend who has a terminal illness. While looking for a spot to eat dinner, we found the Gurley street Grill. We were seated and handed menus. The waitress took our orders and when the food came, one of the ordered item was missing, it was not entered in the computer by the waitress, she realized her mistake about 15 min. later and came to apologize. I said "no problem, I can wait" so she entered the order and I waited and waited and waited and finally the plate came. The stake was raw and full of fat to the point I had to send it back. I asked her to just have the cook put a hamburger patty on the plate in hope that it would be quicker. By this time we were well into 30 min. The waitress brought out a plate with a hamburger patty and bun and nothing else. The vegetables and mashed potatoes that were ordered with the steak were not returned. I had her stand there until I cut into the hamburger patty and to both our surprise, it was raw inside. My family had finished their dinner by this time, and I left hungry. The waitress did take my meal off the bill. I cant imagine this being the norm, but I will not return to the Girley Street Grill. read more

We did not have a pleasant experience here tonight. My dad ordered the chicken pot pie, which was just the gravy-there was no chicken at all. The manager checked with the kitchen and found that it was a "new batch" and hadn't been mixed properly. Ummm, what? For a $17 pot pie, there is no excuse for the kitchen to send out such a sloppy mistake. I had fish and chips and pulled out what appeared to be a rubbery, circular worm. Nope, not a vein, or anything else that should have been there. Gross. May husband had the peppercorn steak and said it was good. The manager was great and removed the offending items from our check.
