You may not know that you need fresh baked focaccia that's turned into pizza or sandwiches, but you do. Visited recently for a quick lunch, and sampled one of the sandwiches. Wow, so delicious! The combos look Italian with some ingredients in heavy rotation. So if you like prosciutto, salami, or arugula then you will see a lot to like. Check out the online menu for more info on options. The bread was, as expected, incredible. Prices are a bit high for a sandwich place, but this is a unique and high quality treat. read more

I took one bite of the margherita pizza and was like, "This tastes like Italy." Something about the flavor of the tomatoes combined with the soft upper layer of the crust just did it for me. You don't find that flavor in the US -- something so simple, dough + tomatoes -- but you can't find it here. The mushroom and gorgonzola is equally as good, with a nice mellow gorgonzola that doesn't overpower. The crust is crisp on the bottom when heated up and the slices are very substantial. The caprese foccaccia sandwich is gorgeous, with perfect crusty bread (again, the quality of which you won't see in the States that often, maaaybe in some of the Little Italys if they're first generation shops), and layers of fresh and lovely mozzarella and tomatoes. It's a big sandwich and easy to share. But if you don't go for the pizza or sandwiches, go for the sublime homemade pistachio tiramisu. And as a bonus, service was lovely and efficient! read more

Stumbled upon Gusto Mio today while getting pastries next door. I could not resist to try one of their foccacia options. I chose the pepperoni. It was light and fluffy with a good amount of cheese and pepperoni. Paired with a San Pellegrino, it was a perfect lunch. The gentleman also told me they had several options of sandwiches they can make on their house made plain foccacia. I will definitely be back to try more. read more

This might be one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while! I've been wanting to try Gusto Mio since they started construction, and it certainly did not disappoint! The ingredients are the best quality, and the focaccia is excellent. We had the Pistacchio and the Toscano, and I really don't think I could pick a favorite! The Pistacchio spread was very unique and was a great addition to the sandwich. I can't wait to come back! read more

Focaccia is fluffy and ingredients are fresh. The meat is sliced in front of you. Sandwiches are nice and simple. The pizzas are fluffy. The pistachio sandwich is good - nice mix of salty and creamy flavors. The Toscana has a strong truffle flavor and came with a lot of prosciutto. Capocollo came with a lot of meat and had an interesting bell pepper spread. The margherita and porchetta pizza were really good. We find ourselves coming back! read more

I was really excited to try this place, as it has been mentioned in the news and social media. Located in busy downtown Walnut Creek, this spot specializes in foccacia sandwiches and pizza. Stepping into this place, you could already tell the demand was high.. as it was hazy from the smoke of the pizza ovens lol. Also there were so many workers scrambling around and trying their best to serve customers as timely as possible. Which, I really appreciate because customer service is hard! Servers were nice but they did tell us that certain sizes of pizza weren't available at the time due to a large order of take out pizzas. So, we decided to just get slices of the gargonzola, margherita, and melenzana. Don't get me wrong, these slices are HUGE. Also since they use foccacia for the bread, one slice is already pretty filling. The bread itself is not bad, nice and fluffy but would have liked it a bit crispier for my pizza. Also when they served our pizza in boxes they covered it with some paper to separate slices which took off alot of the cheese of the margherita pizza (served fresh out of the oven). I appreciated the quality of cheese they use - the gargonzola was just thick enough to compliment the mushrooms. As for the melenzana - I was a bit disappointed with how the eggplant was executed. I was hoping it was going to be thinner slices and roasted more but it just came out to be thick blobs which made the pizza even soggier. I also recommend takeout, as there are very few tables to sit inside. Overall, I want to acknowledge the uniqueness of this place by selling specialty foccacia pizzas and sandwiches. Would love to come back and try their sandwiches. read more

I love this place, where do I even start! Food: They have delicious sandwiches and pizzas (they have specialty pizzas often) and the portions are so big. They have a ton of beverages to choose from: juices, beer, wine and more! They also have a ton of yummy cakes. Loved the pistachio tiramisu and slice of pie! The tiramisu is perfect for anyone that loves cream as there is plenty of it! Appreciate that there's no alcohol in the tiramisu. The Gorgonzola pizza was delicious and light. Surprisingly, the focaccia bread did not feel heavy. Add their hot oil as well for a perfect bite for those that enjoy some spice. Definitely looking forward to returning and trying their sandwiches or more pizza! Note that this is more of a quick bite to eat or to-go spot as there is limited seating. They have bar stools along the window and maybe 5 small tables. PS. Their hours on yelp are incorrect. Also, did not notice hours in-person except for a sign that has exceptions about closing early on certain days or being closed completely. Hope they will update the yelp hours as I did come by after 5pm and they were closed with a sign that said they closed early, although yelp states they're open til 9. PPS. As of April 2025 when I returned, they told me they're no longer making the tiramisu :(. Real bummer!! read more

I am Italian and with my family we ate here today. Unbelievable focaccia with porchetta (Vesuvio and with nduja and eggplants): so crispy and fresh with top authentic ingredients. Also, kudos to Lara and Fabio for their service: they went above and beyond with their hospitality and warmth. We felt at home! Had some of the best bread, cured meats, cheeses and sandwiches when we went to Italy. Gusto Mio is a win and reminds me of the delicious sandwiches with stracciatella and truffle cream from All'Antico Vinaio! But BETTER! The sandwich from Gusto was carefully crafted and the stracciatella to meat ratio was more reasonable. The ones in Italy skimped on the meats and was just mainly bread and cheese. this guy out here I don't know his name but he's a great guy today I had a situation I didn't had my charger. He really helped me. He helped me charge my phone and finally when I found my charger. I told him that I can't thank you enough for being there people like these are so good. I wish there are more people like him in restaurants who help you when you need unlike others who just say no to you right away. I went to Starbucks and they said oh we don't have a charger so that's weird but anyways, God bless him. read more

We tried out this place during their grand opening today. They were offering food and drinks for free! My husband and I tried a couple of slices of different pizzas and each one of them was tasty. The place was packed and everyone seemed to enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The people working there were very friendly and kind. They were encouraging everyone to enjoy the food and gran a drink if they didn't have one. To say the sandwiches here are great is an understatement, 'life changing' would be a better description. Amazing bread, creamy toppings and amazing flavor overall. Everything impeccable. We loved the pistachio sandwich, and made a couple of our own with custom ingredients. Don't sleep on the Gusto salad which is one of the best I've had, anywhere- perfectly balanced flavors. Walnut Creek has a number of nice Italian restaurants, Mio Gusto is a real standout among them. So, so good. Just go. read more

I bet the same pizza would taste a 1000X better when eaten piping hot, so probably better to dine-in. And like others have said, the place is super clean, and all the staff are just wonderful. Great atmosphere, but the pizza leaves much to be desired. I may give the place one more try, but only for a dine-in.

But the server that attended to us was quick and seemed happy to answer our questions about items on the menu. While the Prego Pizza unfortunately did not work to start my cousin's labor (at least at this point 24hrs later haha) it was very delicious! It came loaded with a bunch of different toppings and they weren't kidding when they said they put a lot of garlic! We originally came in and the older gentleman said they couldn't seat us right away and to come back in 20 minutes. We didn't mind and took a walk around the block and was seated right away when we returned and he brought us menus. A waiter came and was friendly, making sure he got the order correct. It seemed like he may have been in training. We decided to each get a lemonade, share the meatball appetizer, I ordered the pasta trio and my husband ordered the chicken parmesan. The meal started out nice with the drinks immediately coming out and the appetizer shortly after. The drinks were good, however they were out of pint glasses and came in a collins glass instead. The waiter mentioned the lack of pints and the smaller glass calling it fancy but didn't reference if we'd get a discount or a refill due to the smaller portion as a result of the glass switch. The meatballs were tender and had a good flavor. The sauce was nice and the bread was serviceable. After we finished our appetizer, there was a lack in service for at least 15 minutes. They did not clear the dirty dishes, offer water, or provide any type of check in. While we waited, my spouse had noticed a pasta entree (and a salad) was put up and was placed on top of a pizza box. He didnt think much of it until we started to realize we had been waiting longer than felt appropriate and noticed it was 3 different colors, like you'd expect for a pasta trio like I had ordered. Eventually the pasta was removed and we gave the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't my food that had been sitting out for at at least 10 minutes and they were just slow. A few minutes later, a waitress brought our entrees and they finally cleared the appetizer plates. I took my first bite and my food was cold. Not it cooled down but was still kinda warm, any food that was exposed to air was physically cold to the touch. My husband tried to flag the waitress down that delivered the food and her and another worker were talking and looking at their register with no awareness of the rest of the room. Given the service thus far, I just got up with the food and walked it over. I explained it was cold to the point where I said she could touch it (I proceeded to touch a noodle) and it's obviously too cold to be served. She apologized and said she talk the the cook/chef. My spouse watched as she went with my cold plate to the open kitchen and it was clear that she explained I said it was cold but they were not planning on remaking it and just reheating it. A trio of pastas with 3 different sauces would not be reheated in a pan so the assumption is there would be a microwave involved. My spouse got up and approached the cook and waitress that reheating the pasta was unacceptable because if we wanted reheated pasta, we could get something from a freezer section grocery store. At this point the waitress seemed shocked that we'd say anything about them choosing to just reheat the food. After a few more remarks they finally said that they'd remake my food. But that'd mean I had to wait while my spouse ate or my husband would wait and then their food was cold when we eat together. At this point, the service was so bad and they made it fell like we were inconveniencing them by wanting at least warm food, my spouse said we just wanted to settle up and leave. Again it took them a minute to process that we didn't want to stay there anymore and eventually said we could just leave. We left and have no plans on returning. I would consider trying a different location since it's a chain, but I will not be back to the Walnut Creek location. I give Tomatina a very generous 2 stars for the service at the very start of the night and the flavor of the meatballs.

Without a doubt, it was the best or one of the best Focaccia sandwiches I have ever had, it is the real deal and is exactly like the authentic focaccia sandwich from Italy. The focaccia was a masterpiece: served warm, light, fluffy, moist inside and a little crunchy on the outside but not too hard or too soft. It was the best focaccia I have ever tasted, pure perfection. The restaruant was super busy and she was running around to several tables. She took our orders and checked on us frequently and would update us on the status of our orders. She was smiling and friendly the entire time. I was celebrating a belated birthday and she brought out a tiramisu with a candle and a birthday card hand signed with messages from the staff. After we got our check and paid/tipped we chatted for a minute or two where she had shared she was having a not so easy week. Despite her having her own things to focus on, she was attentive and had the best attitude. We will be dining here again of course because of the quality of the food but mainly because of the quality of the service we recieved with Kylie. She made our entire expereince. Thank you Kylie!

Service was good, apparently they don't sing happy birthday here so if you're expecting that on a birthday they will not do it but your table as a whole can.

We started with an appetizer and garlic bread (see picture). We had about six pieces of bread and as you can see in the picture, it was on the burnt side. I cannot believe that for the price you pay for a bread, they would serve this. I also ordered a black coffee, but it tasted like it had been sitting there since the morning and tasted really nasty. I asked to have a hot tea instead. Food was good. We ordered spaghetti, carbonara, some chicken dish, and a grilled salmon. All the food tasted delicious and we cleaned out the carbonara and spaghetti. After we ate our dinner, they gave my son-in-law a slice of tiramisu with a lighted candle. Overall, it was a pleasant evening and we enjoyed our food (except for the garlic bread). I'd like to see them do me good and give me a nice garlic bread the next time I eat here.
