So good!!! The gyoza was everything we'd hope for! (Especially after craving them so much, after just getting back from being in Japan for a few weeks!) We also really liked the crispy rice, pork belly bowl, and dipping noodles (no pics of the food though, we ate it all too fast before snapping pics)...their drinks were also tasty, I had the cucumber/mint drink, wifey had their variation of a piña coloada, sis-in-law had the plum drink...we also got a bottle of sake. Great ambiance and great service! The dipping noodle was pretty good, huge too, lots of noodles lol. The flavors were kind of different from what I'm used to at other places, it relies a bit on the lemon and the egg mixed in to help bring out the flavors. The gyozas are fine- I thought there'd be more choices given that it's literally called a gyoza bar and if that's the highlight of the menu, I feel like there should either be a range of gyozas, or just one/two choices that are EXCEPTIONALLY good- it was neither. That said, tbh I might just go back for the dipping noodle lol. read more

I have been so excited to try this place since I would drive by it almost everyday. Got the guys to go with me on Saturday evening. So my disclaimer: Giving it 4 stars because of the food service and price and not just the food. The food is great. This restaurant is very small.. maybe about 12 seats. You walk through plastic door curtains like you are walking into a refrigerated storage unit. It is dimly lit inside with red lights and counter space. About 10 high seats and 2 low seats. It has that dark and ominous vibe going. So grateful there were 3 seats available. We basically ordered most of the menu: Pork gyoza 6 pieces - 12.50 Vegan gyoza 6 pieces - 12 Vegan bowl Pork belly bowl Tsukemen dipping noodle I actually liked the Vegan gyoza better than pork. It seemed more flavorful and had a fun green wrapper. The vegan bowl was ok. I liked the eggplant option, but it felt like there was something missing, especially having just ate the delicious vegan gyoza. My buddy had the pork belly, but I didn't try it. It did have a good amount of pork in the bowl though. I ordered the tsukemen dipping noodle. This is where the experience changed for me. There were not many ppl in the restaurant and no one was being served, but I had to wait a long time before I got my dish. My friends were already done eating their bowls before I even got started. I was super hungry at that point and then they had to wait for me to finish. I really liked the noodles though. They were cooked perfect and the sauce was very good. It wasn't like other ramen places where the sauce is more soup based, this was a bit thicker and richer.. tasted great. The noodles did have a bit too much cilantro though, I had to move half of it to to the side. All in all, I would go back. I actually want to try the to-go lunch special with the gyoza. My partner were so excited to try this new spot. It's on sunset in echo park which is a great place to walk around. The inside is very small but beautiful. It's bar seating with a wooden log standing vertically as a stool. I won't lie it was extremely uncomfortable and hard to relax. If you live in a bigger body it's not very accessible. The menu is a bit confusing, some items are only available on specific times or days. We ordered the pork gyoza which was honestly delicious. We really enjoyed it. The other items fell a bit flat. We got the pork bowl and the dipping noodles. With all the hype on instagram, we were expecting a little bit more flavor. If you love gyoza I would definitely try them out, they were delicious and fresh just double check the menu to see what's available and know the seating situation is not the most comfortable. read more

Gyoza bar looks like such an inviting spot and the food was simply delicious. We arrived around 12pm right when they opened and walked right in with no wait. They have both a seated bar with wood block stools and a standing bar along the wall. There are purse hooks under the bar, which I appreciated. There is a great ambiance and they have a focused but highly curated menu. I split the dipping noodles and gyoza bowl with my husband. The staff recommend one spoon of chili oil mixed with their house sauce for the gyoza dip. I think the chili oil was overpowering and you should stick to their citrusy house dip. The gyoza was fresh and hot and bursting with juicy filling. The bowl came with a salad with a bit too much dressing and some palate cleansing rice. The dipping noodles stole the show. They were perfectly chewy with a more unique dipping sauce that had a faint yuzu umami flavor. Service was fast and friendly and I loved the vibe inside. This place offers such a unique experience for a cool and quick meal before hitting the local bars. My personal favorites are the Bean Sprouts with Spicy Ground Pork. I'm not quite sure if it contains Sichuan Peppercorn but I feel the telltale gentle numbing vey time I eat this dish. It's a relatively light dish but so flavorful that I'm always left wanting more. My other favorite is the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna which comes with either 2 or 3 pieces. It's sweet, spicy and umami flavors come together very nicely as do the competing textures with the very crispy rice serving as a bed for the soft avocado and tuna. It's a rich dish, 1 should suffice. Aside from the excellent food, the ambiance is super chill but moody enough for a date nite. Seating is very limited with no tables, just bar seating with very close quarters to your stranger neighbors on stumps (yes the tree kind) but again, such a cool big-city experience that it's a must try. read more

Despite the restaurant's name, the gyoza here are kinda whatever - you may as well get the freezer kind from the grocery store and pan fry them yourself. However, the tsukemen is fantastic and quite unique, with a fish-based, miso/sesame hybrid cream sauce and very chewy thick noodles made rich by a perfectly runny egg yolk. My girlfriend and I came here last night at around 8pm for our anniversary and it was our first time. We loved the vibe, food and intimacy it brought but not too crazy about how close everyone sits next to each other. We got pork gyoza, crispy rice and yuzu pina colada which were all good. 2 staff workers were very welcoming once we got seated and everything but once we got our food they saw my girlfriend struggling with the chop sticks and we overheard the workers making fun of her because she was struggling and mentioning something about "She's the type to ask for a fork" & "At that point just ask for a fork" after that my attitude towards the staff became guarded and didn't appreciate that at all as it being our anniversary and our first time at the Gyoza Bar. For me, you don't deserve a tip after that. Would we go again? Yes, but if those 2 staff workers are there? Gyoza bar was not what I was initially expecting. You walk in and are sat around a bar top that only accommodates what seemed like 15 people total. They have low mood lighting and although the overall energy of the place was calm because of the amount of people in the room, they play loud club like music. They have a "standing bar" that people can wait at and order food and drinks from while waiting for a seat which was unique. We tried the vegan and pork gyoza, spicy tuna crispy rice, salmon sashimi and a couple of drinks. The pork gyoza definitely stood out and was perfectly pan seared yet very juicy on the inside. For drinks we had the Yuzu Piña Colada and the Cucumber Mint Yuzunade which were refreshing and generously portioned. The crispy rice was very flavorful and the marinade on the sashimi was so fresh and citrusy which made the salmon really pop.
