    Regular Rice Bowl

The person who was putting the food in the bowl was absolutely rude that it was not worth it to even say anything to him since he was denying everything and trying to up charge for everything single item. The amount of food that was given is absolutely horrible! I read that the portion size is decent that they provide and that was the case before as I have visited this location several times but this time they cheap out on everything single item. I would not recommend this place as their portion size is very poor and not worth the price. I am also attaching the picture as a proof.

    Burnt pita chips

Usually very happy with this place. Run slow and get the ordered correct about 80% of the time. But to serve anything that's not appealing is just ridiculous. They were behind and I waited 20+ mins after my order was suppose to be ready and I was fine cause they seemed to be short handed.

    Dry chopped up meat..trash

Service was super slow..I was the only customer...food is dry and terrible...pita chips burnt..and it was 18$$$...trash don't eat here. Arby's has a better gyro

Came on a Monday night after my workout, great tasting food and friendly staff. Will definitely come back.

Whenever I am craving some quick Mediterranean food, I head down to Gyro Republic! They are a chain restaurant, but never seem to disappoint. This specific local in the Aliana area is a bit small inside, but they do have a front patio, and indoor seating. I'd like to describe this place as "Chipotle" or "Subway" style, where you can have a Gyro or bowl built in front of you with all the ingredients that you desire. In the past I've had their gyros, and have either chosen lamb or falafel. On other occasions, I've simply just been in a mode for some hummus and pita bread. They make delicious hummus! Usually the service is pretty descent. Not out of this world, but you'll find some young kiddos just working the front. On my last visit I had a bowl with the lamb mix, and a side of falafel, along with a fountain drink. It definitely hit the spot as we kick of the new year. Not too expensive either, which is always a plus.

Decent fast food. Its chipotle style.. either take it in a bowl or wrap and choose your items. Get what you want and then pay accordingly. I loved their rice and falafel the most. Makes a good hearty meal. Only reason I took one star off is that after eating it makes us feel very thirsty. Must be MSG. Watch out on that. Would be great if they could minimize or avoid MSG. Good option for vegetarians too!

Chicken bowl with feta and all the fixings! So good.

Nepalis are famous for their momos, which have been one of my favorite dishes to eat. Ths sauce that comes with it is delicious and they know how I like my tea. Amrit, Rupa, Shanta, and Ashish are a great team of siblings that run and own Three Leaf after they took over and rebranded. Bashanta is the general manager and lead cook, who is an expert at taking on challenges and finds magic to make the meal extremely delicious. The surprise is that they have only been around for about 3 years, but the experience they provide seems like more than 5 years.

We had originally planned on trying out their buffet, but we showed up a bit too late where there were only bits of food left, and they weren't planning on refilling the buffet, so, we decided to stay anyway and to order off the menu..... and we're all glad we did! The interior is very spacious, casual, and clean.... and having shown up so late, there was no crowd, the place was peaceful and calm, and a great time for us to enjoy our meal.. with very good service focused only on us. I'm typically not familiar with Nepalese food, but perusing the menu, the dishes offered looked almost exactly like a typical Indian restaurant's menu, except there were some additional hybrid Indian/Chinese dishes, like the Momo dumplings that are typical and popular dish familiar to this Nepali region. Fortunately, there were four of us dining in and we were able to order a variety of dishes that sounded really yummy..... like the Steamed Chicken Momos (dumplings), Gobi Manchurian (fried cauliflower coated in a spicy sweet sauce), Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Goat Curry, Lamb Curry, Saag Paneer, Lachna Paratha, and Garlic Naan. How was the food? I don't eat lamb or goat so I can't comment, but the others in the group mentioned the meat was a bit tough, but the curries tasted excellent. As for everything else, I did get to try it all, and everything was so hot, fresh, and prepared just perfectly.... so yummy delicious! Not too sweet, not to salty, and just a great balance of flavors and textures. My all time favorite Indian dish being the saag paneer....pureed spinach with cubes of goat cheese....yummeee! And went great with the breads fresh out of the oven..... very happy and satisfied! This place was a great find as we all enjoyed the food here very much. Service was very good, and with a very nice, casual, and pleasant ambiance. We don't visit here very often since we're from our of town, but if we do visit again, we'll definitely be back again.

We ain't in Queens anymore…read more For years, I've eaten on Shah's all around the borough, initially out in Ozone Park and Briarwood before finding a real audience in Sunnyside. Now that they've sufficiently blown up around NYC, I was a bit shocked (and excited) to see them finally come to H-Town. What's the verdict? It's good enough to pass muster for NY standards (#1), is open super late, and will likely be my go-to Halal food for the foreseeable future. Since I've only had it in cart form, I'm still a buggin over the fact it's become a franchise. It's similar to my shock of eating Halal Guys at a store for the first time. The digs feel as foreign (prices, large, clean and bright interior) as it does familiar (taste, logo, etc.). Even though I had a laugh seeing the wall photo-mural of a Shah's cart in Times Square, I did appreciate the nod to Ozone Park with the 121st & Liberty street signs. The chicken + lamb combo platter ($12) is and always will be the winner. The lamb had the same kind of seasoning that most Halal spots out here try to replicate but can never get right. The rice was fluffy, and the white sauce was easily the highlight. I can understand why they've decided to bottle it up and sell it as liquid gold. It makes every meal better. Kofta ($12) and chapli ($13) are rarely my favorites, but I knew I had both in platter form. The addition of adding chickpeas and these other salads is not something I'm used to from the carts (#2) but I loved the fact it was drowned in the white sauce with a dash of hot sauce. The latter is supposedly extremely hot, but I didn't find it that spicy. While I have to say the cheeseburger was a bit of a disappointment (overly bready, thin patty), the pakora chips and french fries were fabulous. They were perfectly seasoned, had a nice crisp, and frankly would be an excellent, gut-busting addition to any platter. I don't love the extra charge, but I hope they remain consistent with it. This store location in Westchase along Westheimer is an up and coming part of town. There are numerous Middle Eastern businesses in the adjacent area, along with an abundance of parking spots and a good amount of late night activity. Service was friendly but I do hope they keep their standards up. As time goes on, I'm 100% convinced this will be a destination for the many late night meal seekers and fans of NY nostaligia. __________ (#1) Which automatically supersedes a lot of the ones here in Houston. Just keeping it real. (#2) Is the chickpeas a Houston thing? Genuinely curious.

I got the white sauce on the lamb and the spicy red sauce on the side. Unfortunately after a few bites I put too much hot sauce on, which made it less enjoyable, but that was my fault. I'd order this again, very solid, reminded me of some of the best halal trucks in NYC. 5*.

I was severely disappointed unfortunately, the beef looked like plastic, if you use the baking soda trick to soften your beef or chicken, you know that if you leave it too long it has that processed frozen dinner texture. The sauce on one had gelatinous chunks and the other was watery and the lomein was super soggy and oily. Veggies in the dishes were fresh though. Not sure if I will give this another try but I might just because I definitely want to support local business owners. TBH maybe they just had a bad night. But it won't be my first choice.

Sadly, it closed shortly after my visit. But I read in the reviews that this was formerly a Burrito District, so I didn't even realize this was the former Ori'Zaba's until I walked in. So apparently this spot has struggled to keep one concept for whatever reason. The interesting thing about Wise Street Eats is that you can opt to build a healthy bowl with Greek inspirations, or you can do what I did and order the Dirty Mac bowl with fried chicken, mac-n-cheese and cajun fries. I'm a real sucker when restaurants put "Most Popular" on their menu, which made my decision to order this, a quick one. What I will say is that, while I enjoyed the Dirty Mac, in retrospect, I would have preferred if it was a side dish, rather than my entire meal, because it was quite heavy (as one would expect). About halfway through it, I realized I was going to have to bring the energy to take down this valiant opponent. Next time, I'll build a bowl. Or maybe even go with a burger. But I do appreciate the dirty mac and if I was still a man who got hungover, I'd consider it a pretty elite hangover remedy.
