H Salt has been serving up consistent fish & chips for quite awhile now. Many of the locations are gone but this one is still doing a solid job. If you've been to one before, you'll know what to expect. The interior is simple yet functional. The menu has specials built in so take the time to do some math gymnastics and you can save a little money. I usually don't care much for the fries because they tend to soak up the cooking oil but this last time they were very good. Maybe I caught them when new oil was used. The fish is always nice and flaky. A crispy crust that's enhanced with some salt and vinegar. Friendly service. They'll be a short wait after you order (15 minutes or so). Call the order in if you want to save some time.

It does the job, when I'm craving fish and chips. I used to go to the other location in North Hollywood when we use to live out in Studio City. The fish and chips is decent and still inexpensive. You get pretty decent amount of food for the prices. They use all frozen fish and seafood. The batter plain and bland. Thier salt and pepper condiments to season yourself. For the fish being frozen it still came pretty moist and flaky. If you're looking not to break the piggy bank on some fish and chips. Highly giving H Salt a try. They also have few special deal as well. Service was quick and friendly and they have a private lot for parking.

My first time here a couple weeks ago. My mom took me here, she recommended it! We ordered fish and chips, scallops, and shrimp. We only ordered 1 to share since it was more than enough for the both of us. The service was great and quick. The ambiance was like a small mom n pop. They have a few tables inside and a couple tables outside. We chose to sit outside for some fresh air. No reservations needed just walk in. There's parking available right in front.

ther best hush puppies . I drive far for them. I don't get fish just puppies

Family owned business and this woman is working hard and doing it right. I drive far to get the hush puppies because they are perfectly seasoned crunchy and tasty. I don't get fish cuz I'm allergic to fish. But when I go in there and see people's plates everything looks beautiful. Everyone looks happy. She's real quick with service. The tartar sauce is homemade. And I highly recommend going it's been here my 40 + years in California. He must be doing something right.

Was craving fish & chips so I gave this place a try. Everything is made to order so it's fresh. I ordered the London Special which includes two pieces of fish and fries. It was the perfect amount of food and didn't feel too heavy afterwards. Service was friendly.

Very challenging to find a decent set of fish n chips in SFV. Even more challenging to locate this classic brand. Location lacks any appeal. The classic fish and chip plate was nice and hot. I dined inside for freshness. Breading lacked seasoning and was pretty generic, almost bland unless you add the vinegar and tartar sauce. Chips were generic. Dining in wasn't very comfortable. It was so hot in there. No AC. The service was quick and friendly. Price made for some viable value.

1 pound mini shrimp basket, half eaten with one hush puppy on top - couldn't resist, perfectly fried
    Candace B.

One female fry cook putting in work produced a tasty combo of perfectly fried fish, jumbo shrimp, zucchini, clams, fries and hush puppies! The shrimp were so addicting that I did something I don't usually do which is eat and drive and I couldn't stop eating them! It was a little pricey but it was a large order and I always say, I don't mind to pay for quality, good service and good food. I will back!

    Fish and chips and clams

The food was tasty and very fresh! Cook to order in hot! Got the three-piece fish and chips and clams. All were very tasty and will come back for more.

It's a small hole in the wall place. It's cute, but don't expect a fine dining restaurant experience. They're currently advertising Dungeness crab at $23 per pound, but you don't know how much your piece weighs. Mine ended up costing almost $70, and it was definitely not worth it. That didn't include any sides either, I had to pay extra to add corn and potatoes. I also ordered garlic bread on the side, and it was the worst garlic bread I've ever had. It was soft, soggy, and had absolutely no crunch to it. The kids' chicken tender meal only came with two very small pieces of chicken. I was expecting more for the price. There was only one staff member serving the entire restaurant, and you could tell she was getting overwhelmed. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience, and for spending almost $200, I did not leave satisfied.

I assure you…read moreI do not -- it's just that I've lately discovered some menu items I haven't had before, and each one is making an impression. The latest newbie, for me, is the Chicago Dog. This version is a quarter-pound beef Frank, split and grilled to a nice char, topped with the appropriate suspects: mustard, relish, pickles, onions and sport peppers. I deleted the tomatoes and added extra peppers. Served on a hearty roll rather than a bun, this is much more of a meal than a snack, with loads of flavor coming from very fresh ingredients, and a pleasing punch coming from the peppers. Even if you keep the tomato on yours, definitely add extra peppers. The dog comes à la carte, but I added a side of their scratch-made onion rings, and they did not disappoint. Thinly sliced onions are dipped in a frothy beer batter and lightly fried, rendering them crispy, sweet and very tasty without being greasy or heavy. Perfect for dipping in any number of sauces, though they serve a side of ranch by default. Chris was tending bar, and took good care of me despite the place being very crowded for trivia night. Good energy from a good crowd, as always, and one of the best Chicago Dogs I've had in SoCal.

The drinks looked good but I decided to save some calories and just had a glass of water. For food I started with clam chowder. I'm thinking it was a special since it was on a piece of paper on the table. It came in a bread bowl...it had lots or clams, bacon and potatoes. It was delicious. It could have been a meal with a small salad. So for my entree I had the lobster Mac and cheese. It was good as a well. Ooey gooey and seasoned nicely. I was almost full from the chowder so only at about 1/3 of it but would definitely recommend. It was my first time coming here and I'd definitely return.

The service staff had everything dialed in, working methodically and quickly, making drinks, taking & delivering food orders, and also managing to chat with people as they went, keeping everything friendly and personal. It takes experience and skill to work such an event without using the crowds and chaos as an excuse to offer less, and this staff really rose to the occasion. Special kudos as well to the team working the kitchen, because food came out fast and properly made. Again, so many places would have been content to serve thrown-together plates, but everything I saw was as nicely presented as if it was a calm day with a half-full house. An order of Steak Nachos was quite generously portioned, with house-made chips, creamy queso with a good kick of spice, fresh beans and jalapeño, sour cream and melted cheddar. But the real star of the dish was the steak itself -- good quality beef, well-seasoned and carefully cooked to retain juiciness and tenderness. So often the meat on nachos will be rubbery and disappointing, but at Fuego it's really top tier steak, and there's really only one proper reaction: Yes, Chef! A lot of customers were drinking beer and shots to fit the mood of the match, but mixed drinks from the cocktail menu were also showing up festive and well-balanced. The Paloma looked especially nice: tall and cool, colorful and topped with fresh fruit. A most enjoyable, refreshing sip. With well over a dozen TV's lining the walls, great food & drinks, and a staff this friendly, Fuego really deserves its own trophy for being the little, neighborhood sports bar that comes out on top.
