I've always loved Habit Burger & Grill. This was a place I would take my mother to when she wanted a burger but Nations and In-N-Out just couldn't hit the spot on that day. Some of the things I've always loved about Habit. -I think their milkshakes have always been so yummy-perfect thickness, perfect sweetness without tasting too artificial-for a very long time no visit was complete without one of their shakes. -I've always enjoyed their creativity when it comes to their sides-though I do love their regular fries, the fact that they have sweet potato options and also they have some sort of tempura option, currently they have tempura green beans-they are straight fire. -Another nice touch is that they have pepperoncini peppers and A-1 sauce in their condiment sections-both pretty unique options in the burger world. -I've always liked that if you join their rewards program, they always give you a free Charburger on your birthday-one of the best rewards of any rewards program. That takes us to this visit to Habit Burger on Howe Avenue in Sacramento. It was birthday season and my reward popped onto my app and I decided I was in the mood for a burger from Habit. So I pulled up my trusty app and went ahead and placed my order for a Charburger with cheese and picked out my customizations and placed my order and it was a pretty $0.00. Arriving at the burger shop, it's a small lot but they had plenty of parking. This location was very clean and had many tables in their dining area for those who choose to dine-in. Walking in my burger was ready in the bag in the spot where DoorDash and Uber Eats orders are placed. Generally when I place orders in person I use their handy kiosk that's at the door to place my order-they have a pretty efficient ordering system there at Habit. The plan was to eat when I got home, but that burger smelled so good in my car, it never even made it to the freeway-it was so good, patties had that nice char flavor and all the veggies were so fresh-it was absolutely delicious. In closing, I would highly recommend this location as they are efficient in their food preparation and they make a pretty quality burger-most of the time that's more than enough. Disappointing Customer Service Experience at Howe location on Friday, February 13, 2026 Dear Habit Burger & Grill Team, I recently visited your Howe ave locationwith my family for dinner on Friday, February 13, and I was disappointed by the decline in customer service compared to past experiences at this location. While I understand kiosks are now common, I strongly prefer interacting with a real person when ordering, especially for a sit-down meal. Navigating the kiosk feels slower and less personal for me. When we approached the front counter, the gentleman with frosted-tip hair (who identified himself as the manager) immediately told us he couldn't take our order because it was too busy. He directed us to use the kiosk, stating it would be faster and that counter ordering would take about 30 minutes. There was no greeting, no "thank you for coming in," or any standard hospitality--just a blunt redirection. A short time later, another customer approached the counter and was allowed to place their order directly with the same manager--no kiosk suggestion. That customer's food arrived before ours, which left us confused and feeling unfairly treated. This experience was frustrating and inconsistent with the welcoming, guest-focused service I remember from The Habit. I miss the days when employees greeted customers, took orders personally, and made the visit enjoyable. If this is the new standard--especially for those who prefer counter ordering--I'm likely to take my business elsewhere. UPDATED REVIEW! My husband was craving a burger for lunch yesterday and we decided to stop in at this Habit Burger location for a quick bite before seeing a movie. We ordered at the kiosk and went with the $10 Gotta Habit Meal Deal which came with half of a Patty Melt, Fries, Chicken Bites and a drink. We also ordered a Kids Charburger meal (which was free with any $10 purchase) and an extra Charburger with Cheese. Everything came out to $21 and some change - that is cheap nowadays! All of the food came out hot and fresh! The Charburger was one of the better burgers that I've had in a long time - a little too much lettuce, but the burger was very flavorful. I even added pickled jalapenos to my burger that they offered at their condiments bar. Service was good - the woman calling out orders was efficient and communicated great. The inside was very clean and organized! Overall, I don't know why I always think "meh" when my husband mentions Habit Burger - I am never disappointed and I see now why they always make the list for one of the best burgers in town! read more

I haven't been coming to Habit Burger lately just cause I think the prices are just to high for what it is. It's a super good burger, but there IS a limit on how much I'd pay. My normal order is a Double Char Cheeseburger and fries and water, but that comes up to freakin' Almost $17 just for that! So, I just saw online that Habit has this deal, I think to fight off Chili's $10.99 burger deal, it called "$10 Gotta Habit Meal Deal." For $10 bucks, you get a half Santa Barbara grilled sandwich, fries or tempura green beans, FIVE piece chicken crispy nuggets, AND a large drink! You can get a salad instead of fries if you want. That's a ton of food for less than Chili's and there no tip required. My friend and I both got the $10 deal. She got the tempura green though, I got fries. Our food is ready, and holy guacamole! That's a lot of food! Good sized portions on the fries and fried beans. That Santa Barbara Grilled sandwich is stacked HIGH, with a full burger patty, cheese, grilled onions, guacamole, tomato and lettuce and mayo I think. Extra grilled onions, no CHARGE! My mouth barely opened wide enough and I can fit some big things in my mouth! The half sandwich was more than enough food! That's a tasty sandwich! The chicken nuggets were better than I expected, not really a fan of nuggets but they were included. My friend loves the Tempura green beans! Dipping sauces included. There's more meal deals too! Starts with $6.00 meal, wow that's Cheap! You get a half grilled chicken sandwich, with cheese, grilled onions, tomato and lettuce, fries or tempura beans, PLUS a drink! I felt very welcome walking in and I was helped with my mobile order immediately. As soon as it was finished the kind employee Drew handed it to me and made sure everything was correct before I headed home to enjoy my delicious meal. I eat here often, but I'm increasingly frustrated with the number of times my orders are missing items. Whether it's sauces, an order of fries, or, most recently, the ranch and chunky avocado I paid extra for on my salad, it's a consistent issue. It's incredibly disappointing to come home and realize multiple items I paid for are missing. How hard is it to double-check an order and ensure everything is in the bag? At a minimum of $20 an hour, I expect better attention to detail and customer service. You should be better after a MAJOR raise, not worse. Please improve this process--it's getting old. read more

Went to Habit on National Cheeseburger Day. Order double char, green beans and ice tea. The cheeseburger was the biggest mess I've ever seen. I wrapped it back up and refused to even try to eat it. We went to McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King to get burgers for a penny, 50¢ and free with purchase. The best cheeseburger was at Wendy's. It was soooo embarrassing, we actually had to ask the employee to give us the fries that we paid for and she held the tray while we removed the fries, we couldn't even get them all. We ate an early lunch here after a soccer game and although we were practically the first customers, right at opening we were served with a smile. I love Habit because they have onion rings, one of my favorites. Our food was freshly made and while they were working on getting the restaurant opened our food was done quickly. Habit has great prices right in line with In-n-Out and much less expensive than Five Guys. I ordered a char cheeseburger protein style (lettuce wrapped), my son did a cheeseburger with a bun and fries. I substituted my fries in the meal for onion rings. I highly recommend Habit! read more

Also had the tempura beans and sweet potato fries. Both ok. Little cold and soggy, took us 10 min before eating, so don't think time should have been the issue. Flavor of those 2 items was nice. Shake was 2nd best one I've had, so that's pretty decent. Service was decent, not super-fast, but they were very helpful, nice and efficient. Ambiance was chill. Super super disappointed in the service I received tonight. Not only did it take 14 minutes longer than while I was told the anticipated pick up time was. My sandwich which comes with bacon had no bacon on it whatsoever. I also specifically asked for ranch with my tempura green beans, no ranch I double checked my order and the tag on the outside of the bag it made no mention of altering or removing the bacon And said one side sauce.
