Great place right off hwy 80 to grab some food to go (no indoor seating. ) I got the stir fry chicken akdah (similar to karahi chicken) with bell peppers and onions. Be sure to ask for the green chutney. I thought it was lacking in flavor. I added some Indian pickle to liven it up when i got home. It came with 3 large pitas. The food was great, prices are great, and the service is great. I got lamb and chicken kebab cuz they ran out of the beef kabob but all good. The kebabs came with rice and that rice was special. It tasted just like biryani and had so much flavor just by itself. It also came with some salad that was so good and refreshing. AMAZING! TBH, I was skeptical about eating food prepared in a gas station. Just sayin'. But I forged on and thought to myself. "well it will either be absolutely delicious or horrible. Probably not in between". You can either order at a walk up takeout window or go inside the gas station to order. I am DELIGHTED to report that this food is fantastic. The guys who run it are super nice and very good at what they do. Loved, loved the chef. He jokingly refused to tell me what special spices were in the chicken dish. He said they were a secret! The chef and the food is from Yemen. But they also offer some American items as well. This place is really clean inside, and totally legit! I ordered the chicken mendi, (sometimes spelled MANDI) and was amazed that there was a huge amount of fluffy turmeric-stained basmati rice, fantastic cucumber salad, braised fresh vegetables, and a half chicken on top of the rice. (It was enough food for two days). Beautifully spiced, hot sauce on the side--this place is a home run. I can't wait to go back to try more food. read more

Authentic Yemini Food! Secret is out since the KQED article. Don't be put off by the appearance outsid. Yes it's a gas station but, the food is legit. I love that they welcome you with a hot cup of black tea, and the food is standard fare with a some unique dishes you've probably haven't had unless you're familiar with the differences. Wow, the food from here really exceeded my expectations. I came wanting the chicken zurbiyan or the chicken akdah, but they were out of the chicken for it. So I got the chicken shawarma instead, and wow, it was so good. The flavor and texture of the chicken was really nice and the garlic and spicy sauces they gave were delicious. The portion was also very large. Along with the chicken, they gave pita bread and hummus, rice and salad. They also gave me a sweet tea to drink while I was waiting, which was also good. I was excited to try out this place so pulled up at noon ready to eat some chicken mendhi. Guy at the window said "no lunch until 12:30" which seemed a bit odd, but he said we could get wraps. I got chicken wrap which was delicious. Wrapped in a tortilla, but they had grilled it a bit after wrapping it up so it had a nice texture. I've noticed this place while driving past, and like another reviewer figured it would be either really good or really bad. When I saw it on Doordash, I figured Id give it a shot and its very good. I had the chicken wrap and although it was well prepared I had a hunch I would prefer other dishes. Got the lamb kabob next time and it is really delicious. It was grilled just right and arrived on a bed of seasoned basmati rice with come chopped vegetables (iceberg salad) and hummus plus 1 pita. I would definitely order again. Great find!
