It was clear there were only 2 ladies working at the time, and didn't have time to take care of the little things like updating the available pie board (no marionberry crumble, sad). My family and I ate at your resteraunt, cute little place that it is. Not sure if the wait staff has ever waited on children, but I could tell that we were not welcome when we walked in the door... Your waitress, the one with the accent was not very friendly or attentive, hence we had kids.... it took her about 15 min to take our order and while taking the order never once asked us if we wanted anything other than water, maybe we did not look like we could afford such an establishment as yours I guess. We ended up filling up our own water glasses since the pitcher was on the counter and the table behind us asked for water too, isn't that the waitress' job to make sure that they were full? When we were about ready to leave another party of 6 came in and the table behind us was dirty and she told them to sit at that table and she would bring two more chairs over and the woman replied you mean sit at this dirty table.. Not the best customer service I have ever experienced.. the food was good, but the service was alot to be desired.. Stopped here after a great weekend in Victoria, BC. Arrived around 7:00 PM. hungry. We enjoy trying local establishments. The food (cod and chips with cole slaw and the house Club sandwich) were good, although bread for the sandwich a little over cooked, okay burnt. The real star was the marionberry cobble. Served with ice cream. On the down side was the service. Debbie was our server, she couldn't find a smile to save her own life, she acted as if any question was one more than we were entitled too. She did not come around to refill beverages , or anything else, routinely, slow is putting it mildly. The cobbler was supposed to be served warm, but it was cold. After the most spectacular drive through the Olympic rainforest we stopped at Brinnon at the Halfway House. It was pleasant and homey. We were seated immediately. The dining room was pretty filled but after about 5 minutes most of the parties had finished and left. We asked outrwaitress Debbie what she would recommend and she suggessted the hand cut and breaded cod. My friend ordered that and I had a wonderful club sandwich. Everything we ordered was delicious. Our only complaint was the ridiculously horrible service. Debbie was obviously done for the day even though she still had an hour or better left on her shift. She snatched the salad dressing away while asking us if we were done. it was gone before we could answer. We quietly ate our meal and observed the dining room. it was clean and neat. the cook looked extremeley comfortable and relaxed. He actually came and sat at the counter after he was finished and said how much he enjoyed his work. (GOOD FOR HIM!!! He was a great cook!) We were finally asked is we would like dessert. We were eager for the Marionberry Cobbler. When Debbie asked if we would like it heated we said yes. 10 minutes later she returned with a STONE COLD bowl of cobbler. VERY DISAPPOINTING!. We purposely left part of our dinner to save room for the pie. The table next to us had ordered two peices of pie to go...unfortunately Debbie was to busy and only had time to get one. Really???? These people were even regulars on a first name basis. Wow! In short, if you are hungry and want good food please stop. It is delicious. If you are looking for a warm welcome and great service it would be better at your local buffet! read more

I absolutely love this place. My mother and I go for breakfast every time we go to Dosewallips State Park which is just down the road. The atmosphere is always friendly, customer service is great, food is great as well (if only had breakfast here and their pies)! I would 10/10 recommend! read more

The mashed potatoes and gravy were not as good though (both from the box I think). I didn't try the peas and carrots that came with the meal; they didn't look all that appetizing. Home made Marion berry pie was almost better than grandmas. We took one when vacationing in the Olympic Peninsula. When we ate it with breakfast that day, it took me back to my childhood. I was very disappointed. The food took a very long time, the waitress was unfriendly and my food was horrible. (No exaggeration) I had the oyster basket-there were 4 very small oysters which were breaded in what seemed to be unseasoned flour alone. It was thick tasteless flour fried around a very small oyster & it was 14.99 for this basket. Very disappointing. The pie was great, however-I had banana cream pie. This Restaurant is a treasure!! The food is homemade and reasonably priced. They have specials every day and the locals gather here for good food and conversation. The pie is to die for. Two breakfasts and one special Saturday night prime rib dinner, 4 courses just like you used to get it on a Sunday with grandma. The easy over eggs were absolutely perfect as we're the hash Browns, bacon and ham steak good as well if nothing spectacular. Some of the best drip coffes I've had in forever, Brothers, she said and I had 3 cups! my son had the pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. Be smart and stick with one. They are huge. He also had the cinnamon French Toast and licked his plate. literally. The 4 course prime rib was great. For $30, you get a baby shrimp cocktail, salad, the thickest slab of decent Prime rib you could want, plus fixins, and a brownie/CHOCOLATE cake for dessert. skip the wine and don't judge them on cleanliness. We ate breakfast here twice, it's the only place in town. This is definitely a local hang-out where residents come in, slurp coffee and " shoot- the- breeze". Nobody is rushed, including the waitstaff. For having 9 tables and 8-10 barstools, service is slacking. Our last visit we waited for coffee refills while a wedding picture album was reviewed. In one hour our coffee was refilled once- and we asked. Waitstaff are personable, but have a different mindset when it comes to service. Omelets are two or three egg and stuffed full of goodies. Hubby loved the omelet, but his eggs over- easy came out hard. My waffle was chewy and not crisp, but had a good flavor. Other quirks I noticed: Whole pies need to be preordered if you want one, and I noticed the fried chix dinner needed to be preordered. For a destination spot, locals stare at you when you walk in.. I get it, nobody wants tourists... Including me, I live in one too. Yes, I would eat here again, ordering diner- type food. Remember, there is a cook on staff, not a chef. This was exactly what we were looking for when we were traveling through the area for some hiking. And the marionberry pie was, in fact, everything you said it was and more. The dinner special that day was a great big meal at a reasonable price, soup and everything, although some of the other dinner options were pricier than I expected. First I like to always eat healthy. I recently tried this joint. Their fried foods are so unhealthy for you. Didn't find much healthy food on their menu. Also put onions in all the food (which I dislike). Things like pie and such are also great sounding, great looking, but filled with sugar which is the equivelant of poison to the human body and upset your insulin balance. If you eat here on a regular basis your going to get really fat and clog your arteries. I cant recommend it as it doesn't have a healthy menu. read more
