The Yelp reviews of this place are baffling to me because it is one of the highest rated Asian restaurants in Chicago on GrubHub AND they have been perfect for me. I should offer some disclaimers. I've only 'GrubHub'ed' the place so I have no idea what service or the environment at their actual location are like. I've never ordered any of the Chinese dishes or any of the noodle specialties. I've exclusively had their sushi, fried rice and some of the smaller starters like wings and egg rolls. With that in mind, I have no issues recommending the place. The fried rice with everything is easily 3 normal servings and comes packed well in a plastic (large) plastic bowl with clear lid. The sushi is always fresh and ample as well. Typically, my girl and I order their $30 special and it's too much to eat. No, it's not fine dining but it's pretty tasty and a great value if you stick to what I've listed above. read more

What happened to Hana!?!?!? I use to order from here all the time and was always pleased! Food was always good, great price points, and portions were always great for sharing. I ordered the general Taos chicken, potstickers, the volcano appetizer, and crab Rangoon, which I've always enjoyed in the past. To my dismay the potstickers tasted like cardboard, the chicken in my entree was non existent, I mean seriously wtf did you deep fry?! My crab Rangoon was completely empty pockets of deep fried dough as well, and last but not least the volcano appetizer tasted super fishy! ( hope I don't get sick from eating it). If the food didn't disappoint me enough the extreme price hike on the whole menu sure did. And how do you raise your delivery fee to $6!? I will NEVER order from here again. Rather eat a stale piece of bread next time! Don't waste your money or taste buds here. Update on previous review, both my boyfriend and I got sick from the food! $60 in the garbage and we're both suffering horrible stomach aches. I have never been more disappointed by a restaurant. Sadly, I must downgrade the stars on my original review. Not sure what's going on at Hana - change of management? change of chef(s)? Don't know, but the last time I went everything I ordered was not very good. For the first time ever, I could not finish my Lo Mein dish, and didn't even want to save it for the next day. I very rarely give a 1-star review, but Hana earned it. I only tried the sushi so can't speak to the Chinese dishes on the menu, nor will I be trying it after my experience last night. I ordered delivery from Hana last night after a long week and not wanting to venture out into the icy grips of Chicago winter to satiate my sushi craving. The delivery was quick but that is the only positive thing I will say about this place. Every single roll we ordered lacked flavor and the quality of the food is noticeably subpar. We ordered a sweet potato, California, spicy tuna, Las Vegas, and the Red Dragon rolls, resulting in a free order of crab rangoon. Crab rangoon was basically just cream cheese in a greasy wonton, completely lacking in both flavor and the presence of crab. I should have know I was in for the second-worst sushi experience of my life (the first involved food poisoning) upon first glance of the California roll. Like with the crab rangoon, lack of crab! Hana pulls a cheap trick and mixes the crab with mayo to make a crab salad instead of using a solid crab stick. Just gross. The sweet potato roll is normally one of my favorites- this was just ok. The spicy tuna was unremarkable and tasted like watery wasabi. The Red Dragon tasted like old grease, and the Las Vegas was basically a bite of cream cheese wrapped in rice and covered in spicy mayo and a slice of jalapeno, which wasn't even spicy. Needless to say, I was completely disappointed with my Hana experience and will not be going back. The quality of all the components of the rolls are cheap and Hana attempts to hide it by slathering everything in mayo. For shame. I have eaten better sushi from the grocery store read more

Do not order for delivery!! After over an hour we called the restaurant and after they hunted around for our order, they finally told us that it was on the way. Fast forward 30 minutes, still no food. Call again. We're told the delivery man got lost and it would take another 20 minutes. I have been to this restaurant a total of 3 times so far and can't stop eating the lunch special (General Tao's Chicken to be exact). People, please stop by and experience what I am talking about. I can understand how the restaurant can be confusing. They offer Chinese, Thai and Japanese cuisine all under one roof. The menu is this montage of all 3, and its a lot to take in at first glance. I have yet to venture outside of the Chinese and Japanese realm here, and not sure that I want to.. I came here during the Italiano Festival in the summer. I walked in late afternoon and asked if they had lunch special. The owner said yes, we do, and I told her that I need to use the restroom before ordering. I sat down and saw that lunch ended at 3 pm and I politely said I thought you said you had lunch special and as I got up the owner and server were very pushy and were adamant to keep me in the restaurant. The owner/manager had zero customer service and accused me of just wanting to use the restaurant bathroom (I never felt so disrespected in a restaurant). She then told me that someone from the festival clogged their bathroom (which wasn't my wrongdoing and someone else's). I decided to dine in and ordered orange chicken with fried rice to prove I "wasn't just using their restroom". The outcome: the food was bland and a little pricey as other Yelp reviewers have stated. Wide menu, but the food just isn't that good. Green curry was too sweet and had a weird consistency. Portions were generous for noodle dishes, but weirdly small for avocado rolls. Ordered the chicken massaman which is the coconut curry and yum...it was the bomb dot com!! It's sweet but also have a taste of basil to it! After living nearby for almost a year I finally decided to give Hana a try and sorry but it is a big NOPE from me. Got sushi lunch special with spicy crab, spicy tuna and miso. The rolls were miniature size! There was barley any tuna and crab in the middle and they were of shriveled and tasteless. Also got the crab Rangoon and they are pretty tasteless too. Actually LOLing at how awful this place is. So I saw the bad reviews but they looked like they were just because of the restaurant being filthy. So I still ordered from grubhub. It was disgusting. My stomach started aching while staring at the food it was all soooo soggy. The tempura deep fried roll was mushy and soggy kind of damp and wet so were the potstickers. The crab Rangoon's were not crunchy just soggy. This entire place was just soggy. Overall this food just put a 'damper' on my mood tonight. No pun intended. Actually full pun intended. Considering the availability of restaurants on Taylor Street, I would rank Hana as a preferable (but more expensive) option for sushi compared to Ichiban. There also aren't as many Chinese restaurants available, so Hana will fulfill your Americanized Chinese food cravings. The restaurant is clean, decor is modern, and their service is polite. I would personally go elsewhere on Taylor for Thai food, but they have a good portion for their Chinese (unfortunately, Americanized and slightly on the greasier side [had their fried rice]) dishes and decent sushi. Food-wise, the restaurant is slightly below average.. but their ambiance (good noise level and presentation) and service bumps their overall score. read more

Normally this place is really good which is why I've kept 3 stars on this review. However, the service today - Friday 3/27/20 was terrible. Our order was not ready when we came to pick up. That's fine... things happen, no worries. So while waiting we looked at the menu and noticed a coupon that says you get a free egg roll or rangoon if you spend more than $48 on your order. Our total was $55. We asked if we could please get the additional item. Their response was NO.....Ok so lets recap here: We arrived when they said the food would be ready and it wasn't. We hung out for 30 mins and asked if we could use one of the coupons that they promote. We couldn't. Ummm... You would think during this covid-19 outbreak you'd be thankful to still have consistent customers but I guess not. They seem to have lost their sense of hospitality somewhere along the way. Great spot on Taylor for a trifecta of Asian cuisine. We stopped in for an early dinner last Saturday night (6pm). We were the only ones dining in at the time, but lots of people coming in to pick up carryout orders. Greeted promptly and shown to a table near the back. 4 year old son fell asleep and they gave us a good table to fit our umbrella stroller (and kid) next to it). Nice wall booth/chair and table combos lining one side. And a smattering of 2 and 4 seater tables throughout the rest of the smaller dining area. Nice quiet interior, huge projector screen covering one wall. They turned on Palladia TV for us and we were treated to good music and videos. Sushi bar in the back, no bar dining, but added to the ambiance. Service was friendly and unobtrusive, though still very attentive. We ordered both Japanese and Chinese dishes. My husband and daughter enjoyed a variety of sushi. We ordered the combo fried rice, Seafood Delight, and orange chicken for the table. My daughter also had a strawberry smoothie sans tapioca, and she enjoyed it. Everything tasted good. The seafood delight had mostly imitation crab and fish, would have liked more or at least equal amounts of shrimp and scallop but it was still tasty. The combo fried rice had good amounts of chicken, beef, and baby shrimp. I probably could have had it as a meal alone. Orange chicken was tangy and sweet, we ordered it without the spice. Not too greasy. We'll remember this place next time we're looking for good Chinese, Japanese and will have to try the Pad Thai next visit. read more

There are too many great options for Sushi and Thai food in this city. This is not one of them. Mongolian Beef- More like 2 lbs of onions with a 6 oz of beef. What little beef was there was tender but was overpowered by the onions. Vegetable fried rice tasted as if the vegetables were frozen and the rice was flavorless. Sweet and sour chicken has a good sauce but where's the chicken? Tom Yum soup tasted like lemon grass water. The flavors were very unbalanced. The only reason they got 2 stars was because of the Hot and Sour soup was good but not great. The flavors were there but it was over thickened. Almost like a gelee. No Star!!! I went to get a Bubble tea - Sugar Free Mango and coconut with Tapioca. Well, it appears that the lack of sugar threw the blender off because it took the guy 10 minutes + to make it. Mind you that there was no one there. The last table had left. The attendant said that it had taken so long because there was no sugar it was harder to make. Really? WTH? I tasted it and it was not good the texture was not smooth, but rather grainy and watery. I did not give it back to get another one and get another one did not feel like sticking around for another 10 minutes. As I walked down I finally tried a tapioca bubble and I almost broke a tooth! It was super hard. That was what did it, not only the bubble tea/smoothie was terrible but the tapioca bubbles (my favorite part of the bubble tea, the bubbles) were super hard. I took the bubble tea back. I said it was horrible. He said it was because it had no sugar. It's not the first time I take it without sugar and the taste has nothing to do with the texture or the softness of the tapioca. I always have my bubble tea without any sugar, I know what to expect. I wanted my $4.21, but he only offer to make me another one. I did not have 10 more minutes to waste. I had to get back to work. I will not go there ever not for their smoothies, not for their food. I order from here ever so often, since moving it's the only place that delivers decent sushi to my neighborhood. Their food is pretty good and the lo mien is awesome. The chicken they use for orange/ sesame etc is different than other places as they batter fry it instead of breaded. I have noticed the quality of fish used for their sushi go down a bit and I dont really order nigiri because of it now. If their fish quality went up I'd give them 5 stars. However, it was incorrect again and covered with cashews when I clearly stated in the order details that I have an allergy. First time being at Hana resturant, the resturant was small, probably holds about 20 people. The place was under new management since 2016. Really good services, the manager and servers was very nice, had great conversations with them, great first impression. They were on point when refilling my water. The place was very clean. Food was terrific, I had the fried rice and the Mongolian beef. The meat was well done and I didn't have to wait long for my food. I recommend getting some of the appetizers, like the crab rangoon, filled with cheese with every bite. I had a some Thai dishes to go, pad si ewe and also the chicken massaman, kinda like coconut curry. Both excellent. Would love to come back here again whenever I visit chicago. read more
