AVOID - TERRIBLE SERVICE I just bought a new condo in Boston and the builder/developer agreed to install a washer and dryer. He ordered W/D through Hancock and they sold him a unit which, by their own admission, is barely sold anymore - as it's an integrated top loader with minimal capacity (It has the capacity for ~3 hankerchiefs). Hancock easily could have advised the builder that for the same cost (and within the same space constraints), he could have installed a more efficient W/D with at least 50% greater capacity. Hancock refuses to accept any responsibility for selling this undersized, outmoded and likely long in their inventory unit and actually sold the developer 3 of these "hardly ever" sold W/D. Hancock's customer "service" offer was to "help" me by selling me another W/D, with larger capacity but they refused to offer any credit towards the new W/D for the new, unused original unit they dumped on the developer (and by extension dumped on me). By contrast Yale Appliance indicated they would have provided credit to take back the W/D (less a restocking fee) had they initially sold the unit. Hancock should be avoided - their motto "We've Built Our Reputation on Customer Service" couldn't be in starker contrast to my experience... read more

EPIC FAIL! We purchased a Samsung refrigerator in August, during tax-free weekend, for an upcoming move. We told the sales associate, Lew, that we would like to have the merchandise held in the store until our move at the end of September. We were assured that this would not be a problem. I called the store this week to schedule delivery and was told by Ted, that there was no refrigerator available and wouldn't be until early January, and possibly indefinitely, because Samsung is not taking new orders. This created an immediate problem. To make matters worse, when we asked about a suitable replacement or a loan program, we were told that they would get back to us. We didn't hear from them. Additionally, there was no mention of refunding our money. Suffice it to say, the attitude was callous and also grossly lacking in apology - none was offered. Because of the pandemic, we thought to give some business to a smaller, local, independent enterprise, and this is how we were treated. To summarize: no product, no refund, no apology. Fridge and stove repair service. Great customer service with quick call back backs and time frame of appointment. Tech called about 1/2 hour prior to arrival. Tech fixed the stove during first visit but leak in fridge was still a problem. I called and spoke with Russ, one of the senior technicians who was professional and came to check on the issue for another evaluation. During third visit, he fixed the issue and leakage issue resolved. Entire team from operator to staff and senior technician are all very professional and friendly. I walked into Hancock Appliance because they had a specific type of refrigerator I wanted on the floor and I wanted to see it. From the moment I met Bill I had nothing but an awesome experience with Hancock Appliance. I ended up buying all three of the appliances I needed for a kitchen renovation - I had planned on shopping around but they were so easy to deal with I thought it would be best to stay right there. They were extremely communicative with me throughout the entire process. Delivery persons arrived exactly when they said they would and were very pleasant. I have ordered several appliances over the years at Hancock, choosing to support independent businesses. I bought a GE Cafe range and matching microwave in April 2014. I have had many service calls regarding problems with the range within the first couple of years, and it was handled well by Hancock. Yet, I have had troubles with the microwave handle, first there was metal melting on handle from heat of the oven that it is placed over (has the exhaust fan for range). That was in the first year of ownership. I cut my hand on it and got it replaced, but next, the handle bottom broke off back in December 2018 (again, another cut on finger). Hancock said to call GE since part has not come in, and said there is nothing else they can do. My option is to purchase a new microwave that is not even 5 years old, which cost over $700. Or use tape on handle. I am very disappointed. read more

Beware!! Do not buy your appliances here! Very, very bad experience when help was needed. Had issues with our refrigerator and called for service. I was unaware that Hancock subs out there service calls and was surprised to have Northeast Appliance show up at my house for repair. First visit was quick and problem was swiftly diagnosed and part was ordered. Was told part was under warranty. One week later all the trouble began. A different service tech from Northeast came to my house. He was unfit, unstable and made me uncomfortable enough that I had to call my husband home from work. This service tech said the problem wasn't what had been originally diagnosed. He left after 21/2 hours and ordered another part. After waiting 2 weeks (in summer, with 4 kids and no fridge), was told that they mistakenly ordered the wrong part. At this point, we asked if they could send someone else out and maybe it was the original issue?? We were told no several times. We waited another few weeks. Were then told the second part was backordered. We then waited a few more weeks without a fridge. I reached out to Joe P at this point out of extreme frustration but nothing was done other than to say sorry. Fast forward a few more weeks and they send a third tech out who comes to my house and takes a look and says it was the wrong part !!! Guess what! It was the original part that we were begging for them to just try. I then called the owner of Northeast Appliance,who came to my house at 9:00 pm to put in the original part. He apologized for the second tech he sent to my house, explaining he was unqualified and had "messed up a bunch of jobs". I went 6 weeks during summer without a fridge and was told story after story to cover up negligent service. I received a bill for 470.00 a few months later. I tried calling Northeast appliance to voice my frustration over the whole experience to no avail. I called three times and no reply. I then called Joe P at Hancock because ultimately, Hancock should shoulder some responsibility for who the use for service. I was told that Hancock already paid the bill. Nothing they can or would do. Very unhappy that all that Hancock cared about was how they were paid and nothing else! Beware! read more

I'm amending my previous review. I bought a washer/dryer from Hancock in August. Upon delivery, it was clear the appliance didn't fit. I sent it back, on the recommendation of the delivery guy who was great. I specifically asked to have a credit issued. A month later it still hadn't been done. Taylor at Hancock claimed that he thought I wanted to leave it open, which doesn't make any sense. there's no reason to leave a credit card charge in place for a returned item. The second star is for the delivery guys who are punctual and helpful. Otherwise, be very careful with how this store charges and credits for returns. Attractive showroom, good selection without being overwhelming and a broad range of price points. The salesman was helpful but not overbearing and very nice to my kids. Purchased a new kitchen from them. Dish washer, stove top, refrigerator, and dual oven. Mostly Bosch appliances. Good price, not pushy. But, forget about the rebates. Bosch declined to pay them, and refused to answer emails questioning why they wouldn't pay. Our Hancock salesman ignored our request for help. My mother and my in-laws also buy all of their appliances there, and the pricing has been just as good if not better than the big box stores. If you want someone reliable, I would choose another service. We called about a broken washer/dryer on a Thursday and were given a four-hour window on the following Tuesday. Not ideal as that would require taking off an entire afternoon of work, but we were patient and understanding. They called the morning of the appointment and cancelled. They made no attempt to send another technician the day of or reschedule, but referred me to another service. read more

When repairs didn't solve the problem, they took the machine back and gave me full credit towards a replacement. (I bought a different model than the first one). No hassles. No more Hancock for us. We bought two washers in the last 10 years (one of then a front loader), and they both crapped out. This is after spending hundreds on repairmen. Hancock offered no warranty. We had a great experience purchasing a new Washing Machine from Hancock Appliance. The person in the store (Paul?) was very helpful in cutting through the vast amounts of information that is available online. I left with 3 models to consider which matched info online to the best of my ability to sort through it. The prices at Hancock Appliance were as low or lower than other large stores that I price-checked (Lowes, Home Depot, Sears) for each of the three models that I considered. The purchase process was easy, delivery (including removal of the old model) was inexpensive, and Hancock sold us a 4 year warranty extension (serviced by Hancock Appliance) for what I thought was a great price. The delivery team was on time and made the job look easy even though the exit for the old machine and entrance for the new was not simple. The gentlemen were friendly, hooked it up well (working great), and gave me a quick orientation. I had a great experience with Hancock Appliance! read more

They did a good job. I did some research on line before I went in. No one was pushy or aggressive like at the box store we stopped at first (where I was stalked by 3 sales associates while I looked around). The Hancock team let me look and when I was clearly ready came right over to help. They answered all my questions and didn't try to push any particular model, and was honest about the pros and cons of the models I was looking at. Paul even printed out the specs sheets of the 2 models I thought I liked and told me to go home and review them and get back to him. I later decided on a completely different Washer/Drier...called him up and they did everything over the phone so I didn't need to come back. Paul called me back to tell me that he checked the model I wanted against the advertised sales at the local box stores and was matching the price he found (which was less than he originally quoted me) They scheduled the delivery for within the week. The delivery guys were nice, and courteous and the only issue with that was they used my 2-wheeler, which I thought was odd. I was really happy with Paul's attention to detail, and that for the same price (and BETTER SERVICE) I was able to support a small local business. read more

These folks value appliances and respect your investment in them. Anthony from the Service Dept came to evaluate why my Whirlpool dryer stopped working. He identified a problem with the timer, said he thought he might be able to fix it. He did just that, brought it back the next week and re-installed it -- saved me almost $200 on a replacement part and the inevitable question whether it was time for a new machine. Anthony said, these are such good machines - let's try this first. My wife and I ordered a washer and dryer from Hancock Appliance. We checked with Paul to make sure that everything would be delivered, uninstalled, installed. Paul told us that we had everything we needed and we were all set. On the delivery date, the delivery drivers informed me that they did not have the stacking kit and that they could not install the new units. I was left with the old machines still connected and the new ones sitting in my bedroom. I contacted Paul and was told that the stacking kit was on back order, yet no one ever called me to explain that my machines would not be able to be installed on our scheduled delivery date. Paul told me that mistakes happen and could not explain why I was not called in advance. I asked to speak with the owner and was told he would not be in until Monday. I called back and spoke with Lou who informed me that he would not inconvenience the owner on a Saturday and that the owner, Joe, would not care that I was inconvenienced on a Saturday myself. Lou continued to let me know how long they have been in business and would not apologize because it was "not surgery but only a washer/dryer delivery." I was taken aback that the inconvenience that they caused me was not a concern and told Lou that their service was terrible. He hung up on me. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE. IN MY OPINION, THEY CLEARLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. read more

I ordered a refrigerator over a week ago at this store and they keep pushing back the date telling me it's back ordered. Nobody told me it was back ordered when I bought it, just that it was going to take a few days to get into the warehouse. In retrospect I wish i had just ordered from Home Depot, they had it in stock and I would have it by now. I should have gone to Yale Electric as originally planned but someone mentioned the customer service at Hancock TV & Appliance was very good and to try them out. One year later my appliance is broken. Twelve months. Nancy and Amy both told me, "they don't make appliances like they used to." That may be true but to charge someone over $2,000 for an appliance only to have it break 12 months later is unacceptable. I didn't buy the extended warranty because I was a fool to think it wouldn't break down one month out of my manufacturer warranty. When I walked into Hancock TV & Appliance a little over 12 months ago my experience with the salesperson was very positive. Unfortunately, I had issues with my appliance and customer service was ineffective so to revisit this again with Hancock TV & Appliance is awful. I purchased the remainder of my appliances last year during my kitchen and bath renovation not at Hancock TV & Appliance but Yale Electric. No problem whatsoever with them. I understand things break and I am not suggesting that Hancock TV & Appliance "pay for everyone's repair service" as Nancy told me in an aggressive tone over the phone and as Nancy also pointed out, "Hancock TV & Appliance would be out of business." What I am suggesting is that Hancock TV & Appliance sometimes has to think outside the box to be a stand out company. My son just bought a new PentHouse Condo Unit in Boston. The builder/developer and Seller agreed to install a Washer and Dryer. He used Hancock and they sold a unit which, by their own admission, is barely sold anymore and no one buys it because it is an integrated unit and not separate front loading units (with way more capacity) without increased outside dimensions. Hancock actually sold the builder 3 of these undersized units (likely but I am not sure from old inventory of their own or their distributor) which units seem to have the capacity to wash about 3 hankerchiefs and a washcloth! They easily could have told the builder, "...for the same outside size and cost, you can increase capacity of washing/drying by about 50%," but they didn't "claiming now" that the builder specified these poor units. Don't you think Hancock should have told them about the units being poor, undersized and no longer being sold. My son merely wanted to return, not even for full credit, but partial, take a hit on restocking charges, pay to have the new units (more expesive, as he wants better units). Hancock refused. Indeed, Hancock refuses to accept any responsibility in selling this hugely undersized, outmoded and likely long in their inventory unit. They actually sold the developer 3 of these "hardly ever" sold small units when they could have easily advised him to buy different, no more expensive and larger capacity units. These guys were awful and their "service" offer was to "help [my] son by selling him another set of units, with larger capacity" but without giving him a nickel as credit for the new, unused W/D originally dumped on the builder and my son.
