So delicious and super friendly service! We came here because the original place we wanted to go was closed, and this was nearby and the perfect substitution. Their sets are reasonably priced, and the flavors they incorporate into their hand rolls are good too! It was very slow when we went, so hopefully their business picks up soon. The hand rolls were pretty good and came out relatively quickly. The dumplings also weren't bad, but pretty much your average steamed dumplings. Fried chicken and the shrimp tempura were similarly decent, though the tempura was poorly battered (way too thick). Not a bad spot if you're just coming for hand rolls and already in the neighborhood! read more

As fans of Kazunori and Nami Nori, we had to try this spot, especially since it's so close to where I get my haircut. We sat at a table, so all the rolls came out at once in plastic wraps to keep the seaweed from getting soggy--making the experience feel like a blend between Kazunori and Nami Nori. They do use more rice in the rolls, though. The fried chicken was fresh and amazing, and the karaage was really good too. The udon broth could have been hotter. Friendly staff. I went for the hand roll lunch special, and it was really delicious and fun. I sat at the bar and as I was enjoying hot tea and miso soup, hand rolls were given to me right after they were rolled, ensuring the freshest of fish and the crunchiest of seaweed. I had the 6 hand roll set and i liked the fatty tuna and yellowtail rolls the best. The last three hand rolls were kind of spicy so i didn't like those. It would be great if the hand rolls weren't spicy or if they want to have spicy rolls, make only one of the rolls spicy instead of half of them. Came here for an early dinner on Saturday night and was able to be seated immediately. I ordered the six handroll set and honestly was not impressed. The fish was fine but nothing to write home about. It wasn't terrible but also was bland or didn't scream very fresh. The spicy tuna was the only standout that I enjoyed. The portion size of each roll was relatively small. The rice was room temperature but would've been nicer if it was warm. I didn't order anything else and I did leave hungry. Service is lacking. As soon as we walked in, we felt the warm welcome of the staff. Which is a huge plus for us! The atmosphere is very modern and casual. The prices of the handrolls are very reasonable. I'll start with the negative part of my experience at this restaurant . Came at lunch time for the $28 lunch special ,but was disappointed to see the auto 25% tip when we received the bill. Not sure I would go back because of this. We were a party of 6 and undertstand the standard 20% but 25%? The 4 rolls and bowl of udon is good proportion size. Hand rolls are good but nothing unique . The restaurant was relatively empty on a Friday night, and we were able to walk in and be seated immediately. The restaurant isn't that large, but there is a good amount of seating. The interior is new and modern. There were multiple chefs making hand rolls, so the service was fast. We were able to sit and enjoy our meal leisurely since it was not busy. The hand rolls aren't large, we both got 6 hand rolls, and I probably could've eaten more. I am happy that we were able to customize and pick what we wanted though in our sets. I tried the fatty tuna, yellowtail, salmon, scallop, crab. The yellowtail was my favorite and I got two of those! I probably wouldn't order the crab or fatty tuna again. In general the fish was fresh and the seaweed was crunchy, since they're made one at a time if you sit at the bar. However some of the rolls lacked flavor, and needed soy sauce. Overall this is a solid walk in option for hand rolls, but not the best quality hand rolls. read more

the ratio of seaweed to rice / fish is way too high. the seaweed is also thick and the roll is so skinny so the ratio is just off. the prices are also not cheap compared to, say kazunori which is right down the block. wouldnt come back. honestly probably the worst one ive tried so far their lunch special also doesnt apply on sundays fyi. we ended up spending $45+ per person for lunch and was not even full also side note: we were the only ones there sunday lunch the entire time read more

Surprising how good this place was. Very simple fare but really crispy Nori and fresh, high quality ingredients made it fabulous. It was loud -- they should definitely put some blankets or other sound dampening on the walls -- and while the decor is stark chic, the ambiance is lacking. Food gave me a terrible tummy ache. I don't think the fish was fresh. I had the tuna, ell and spicy salmon hand rolls. I hope the pain goes away tonight. If not I will be contacting them to make sure it's not food poisoning! The seaweed on the ell I was not able to swallow as well. I ate what was inside only. So glad I found this spot on a walk in NY while I happened to be craving sushi. I am normally not a hand roll girlie but enjoyed this meal very much, probably because they were bite sized. I sat at the bar and the server was sweet. The guy making the sushi didn't seem to want to be spoken to, but alas he made me some bomb rolls. The inside was clean and cute. Arrived around 7 on a Thursday and were seated immediately. We each ordered the 6 roll set which was very fresh and tasty - these rolls might even be better than Kazunori! Our order of karage came out to be very small, maybe 6 pieces of tiny nuggets and the drinks were just average. Although the servers were very friendly, we were not offered water at all during our meal, maybe because we had ordered drinks but would have been nice to have water also. read more

New handroll spot in the city definitely worth trying out. We came for an early dinner on a weeknight and were seated at the bar right away. We each ordered the 6 roll set and an order or karaage to share. We were served super quickly, portions were pretty generous and the quality is fresh and good. Each handroll had enough flavor where we didn't even need to use the individual soy sauce bottle at each seat. Every seat also gets an individual bottle of water to refill their water cups which I thought was a nice touch. My personal favorite pieces were the scallop, and spicy tuna. Both flavored well and a touch of crunch. The space itself is very nice and clean. A pretty large bar and a few tables. Waitress was friendly and nice. Karaage was okay, not amazing but I've definitely had better. The crab hand roll in the set is imitation crabmeat, but they do have snow crab on the menu as well. The price is great for the quality, I will definitely be back. read more

Fabulous place with delicious food and fantastic service! Since it only opened a little while ago, my girlfriend was a little hesitant based on the few (albeit positive) reviews. We've eaten at many Japanese places and have traveled to Japan several times...they know what they're doing here. The hand rolls were all delicious, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. My young children ate the udon and loved it. The service was outstanding and our servers were very knowledgeable. If we lived in NYC this would easily become our regular place. I also appreciated the select menu with a focus on amazing taste and great ambiance. Stop what you're doing and come here for dinner. Loved it! read more

I am obviously biased and think they can do no wrong, but some of my staples that have stood the test of time: Kimchi cream udon, avocado tofu salad, salmon sashimi tacos, and the kani cream croquettes. I was so excited when they opened an outpost in Flushing years ago, but sadly it shuttered during COVID. It is definitely small and there is always going to be a wait, so don't be those people who come in with a huge group during prime time because they like to move (getting customers in and out) very fast.

So that's kind of confusing. Ambience in line and ordering = chaotic. The line is quick in terms of when it is your turn, KNOW what you want. Because you have like 5 seconds to order and that's it. I ordered the special (the spicy rice, lamb and chicken combo, extra white sauce, 3 squirts of hot sauce, and a topped with fries). $13 in total. I would like to say, advice to folks to know what you want before you come. I did not look at menu options beforehand and I did fairly little research so I honestly did not know what to order, just looked at some google reviews and pictures. That is going to help you, in case you do not want the typical lamb and chicken combo. To the food - 1st - they don't care how much hot sauce you want. they're making these bowls in the masses and are just giving you a single squirt so they can make 20 bowls all at the same time. I was hoping for more spice in what I ordered, but it was very slightly spicy. I'm not sure if they let you serve yourself to more, but I'd definitely want more of the hot sauce. 2nd - I didn't taste any spice in the spicy rice. I'm not sure if, again, due to the fast production that it all just taste like regular rice? but didn't see what the hype was there. 3rd - I genuinely think the white sauce is what brings it all together. The chicken was OK to me. I didn't think it was anything special, and would give it a 3 out of 5. texture was OK, flavor was OK... the lamb definitely stole the show. The lamb was absolutely flavorful and full of delicious spices. This reminded me of what I've had in Dubai. Very rich in flavor and just the perfect amount of spices. Overall, I think if you wait for your food to cool down like 20 minutes, you'll get to taste the flavors more. Everything hot together, for me, just didn't allow me to really absorb all the food. But the rice was your average rice. Pita was deliciously soft and pillowy which complemented the white sauce. Chicken was ok. had an OK texture; nothing life changing. lamb was fantastic, and fries were just fries (nothing memorable). For a NYC experience, a 1-time, 50 minute wait is acceptable. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.

Given the fact that there were 20 others ahead of me, that was not bad at all. By the time you get your food, if you wanted to eat there, you could easily find a spot to slide to, to stand and eat. Pepperoni pizza was delicious. Sauce is on the tangier/more acidic side, more tomatoey. and the pepperoni was great. Slight spice to it, but not as good as L'industries. Nonetheless, this slice was delicious. Hot, melty gooey cheese and lots of pepperoni overload. Crust is divine. I could just eat that by itself. Our wait was at least an hour and a half and were texted when our table was ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating with one bathroom for all to use. We got the viral pancakes and they were everything you'd dream they be and then some for sure very filling and buttery. I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. Weather you come for the viral moment this feels like a solid staple in the community with bright music playing everyone kind of everywhere and just a relaxed feel that you can't wait to enjoy after you get seated. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

They don't take online reservations for groups over 5, so we called to make one for our group of 6. It was pretty busy Friday night, so would recommend. The service was great; they drew the cutest card when they found out it was my brother's birthday and let us bring a cake. And they also offered hair ties to the people with long hair. You order through an iPad which has a beautiful menu.

It's one of the larger stalls in the market and has some seating, but not enough, and the market seating is very limited as well. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and the very spicy Dan Dan Mian. I loved watching the staff prepare the noodles while waiting. My bowl was huge and absolutely delicious. It was very spicy as promised, but not too spicy that it was rendered not enjoyable. I looked at other orders and everything looked delicious, leading to only semi-regret of my choice. My lemonade was very good. I'm very much looking forward to returning.
