Hank's crawfish is freaking awesome!!! Great food, great service and the price is unbeatable!!! A lot of the other crawfish places are charging up to $8/lb, when Hank's only charging $4.99/lb. Yeah, there are some places that charge $4.99, but their crawfish is not nearly as good as the ones at Hank's. I highly recommended this place... the atmosphere is also great. Being from New Orleans, I love crawfish! I went here recently with some friends for a birthday celebration. We had about 10 people and the wait wasn't that long. Their margaritas are super super good! It helps tame the spicyness in my mouth during and after devouring Hank's delicious crawfish! and MAN, speaking of the crawfish.... IT'S THE BEST, HANDS DOWN!! This place reminds me of New Orleans! it is straight up New Orlean style and it tastes like im eating crawfish from back home. The flavor is in the inside and it's not covered with chunky powder like other places. The crawfish are juicy, flavorful, and BIG!! Hank's is a small little shack that doesn't look like much. Before walking thru the door you see this pond/water fountain outside that looks like swampwater with some turtles swimming around in it. Anyway, I wasn't in the mood for typical seafood so I order the Famous shrimp fried rice. I was really debated whether or not to get the Supreme Trio Fried rice (shrimp, crab, & crawfish). Hank's Cajun Crawfish does not play around. You can tell this place is from New Orleans as soon as you walk in the door and smell the spices from the kitchen. You can also tell when you sample some of their items and immediately start asking one of the waitresses for a cup of water Their crawfish comes in mild, hot and extra hot (I dare you), and you can choose whether or not you want garlic mixed in with your order. Their "hot" made me cough and feel that burn in the back of my throat. Yup, it was that good. But, I really recommend starting with the mild just to see if you can handle it. One of my favorite dishes though is their boiled spicy shrimp. It's just as spicy as the crawfish but you get more meat for your money, and it comes with a piece of corn on the cob and a boiled potato. I don't know what it is about their house special spicy sauce--it's addicting. I kept dipping my shrimp back into it even though my mouth was on fire. For the non-crawfish lovers, they also serve some decent wings and some EXCELLENT shrimp fried rice. The servings are pretty big so it's a great place to bring friends and share. Well, except of course, if you're a hungry heifer like myself. As far as the service, it's a pretty small restaurant so customers get plenty of attention from the servers and even from the manager himself. He tends to sit down with customers to chat and sometimes he lets them sample some of their newer dishes. There are also plenty of booths and tables for everyone, and a flat screen on each side of the restaurant for entertainment. Hank's was a mild disappointment. A warning for all those who venture after me -- buy all your crawfish at once. The waitress told us that the crawfish was 4.99/lb, with the 6th pound free. I was there with one other person, and I always choose to order some first, and then more later so that the crawfish doesn't get cold. I first ordered 4 pounds, then 2 more later. When I went to pay, the waitress told me that she couldn't get the 6th pound to be free because I didn't order them all together. She said she didn't tell me that because she didn't know that before. She was nice enough, so I decided not to press her for a remedy. (After some thought, I think I could've asked for a discount of $4.99 or something .... ) Also, we asked for mild crawfish and it came out definitely hot. I know this because my second order of 2 pounds was supposed to be mild and definitely was not as spicy as the first. The waitress also didn't ask if we wanted garlic, so the first order came w/ garlic and the second came without. (By the way, hot is definitely hot, like Jill N. said.) What I liked about this place -- the portions looked big for their entrees, and they seem to have a good variety of dishes on their menu. The crawfish was seasoned very well (seemed to be cooked in the bag). Bathrooms are fairly clean, and there's lots of parking. Minimum $10 for credit card. I will probably go somewhere cleaner (it's kind of a dive) and with more consistent service the next time I want cajun food. read more

The crawfish here are always on point. They come out piping hot, juicy, spicy, and flavorful, just the way I like it. And on top of that, the corn and potatoes are cooked in the juices so they're just as flavorful too! If you like your crawfish spicy, make sure to order the medium. I can handle my spicy, ask anybody I know, and medium was spicy enough for me to have that kick and still enjoy it. read more

Sorry Hank but I was not impressed..I came to Hank's mid afternoon and it very busy, we were lucky enough to have found a table and a chair to sit on. We waited about 10 minutes for the waitress to come and ask what we wanted to drink. She then asked us if we were ready to order so we proceeded. I ordered jumbo boiled shrimp and crab as an appetizer and the waitress said they were completely out. So I settled for a salad and the 2 pounds of crawfish I came here for. Once the crawfish came I was pleased by the plastic bag it came in to trap all the heat and juices. After tasting the crawfish I was sadly disappointed. The medium spiced crawfish was very bland spice with no flavor to it, and worst of all the potato and corn cost extra to have it with your crawfish. I paid 5.99 per pound(no potato or corn) which I thought was very steep considering most places charge $3.99 per lb and $4.99 per lb for bigger and better crawfish. I do NOT understand all the great reviews here. I took my Louisiana son-in-law to Guidrey's Cajun Kitchen in Deer Park to show him how great the crawfish were (selling @ $5.99 lb). He loved it so much he confessed he would be broke all the time during crawfish season if he lived closer to me. To impress me he went to his favorite place to pick me up some is "his" crawfish when I dropped by their new place. I had him pick me up 3lbs each of spicy and mild to share with my Grandboys. The clear bags were full of dirty water in one and ridiculously spicy dirty water in the other. They do not purge their crawfish and the poop veins were really full; did I say they were really full? Of each 3lb bag, 2lbs were inedible. I paid $7.99 lb. for extremely soggy crawfish that were badly over cooked and falling apart. I love garlic but these are over the top. The spicy were way too hot. The mild tasted dirty with no spice at all. I like spicy. I want it to at least make my nose run. I am typing this review an hour later and my hands are still burning and the same dirty taste lingers in my mouth. My advice: don't get them to go. Eat them there so when they are sadly over cooked, you can ask for another batch or refuse to pay for crappy crawfish. Happy Crawfish hunting. Although Hanks is a smaller location than the others here in Houston, it is by far the best place to go for boiled crawfish. There were only two people serving the entire restaurant, and they managed to be as hospitable as going to an upscale resturant. As busy as they were, the staff managed to go around the entire resturant checking on each party while making sure everyones orders were taken. We ordered fried boudin balls and fried mushrooms for starters (hot btw) very good flavor. And 6 lbs of medium spicey crawfish. By the way crawfish there is the bomb.com; no doubt about it. GROSS!!!! EWWW, as I was in Houston, I figured I should go crawfish hopping and I stopped by this place. Came in and ordered some crawfish and corn. My crawfish made it out but my corn never did. I tried the crawfish and wished I never did. I have never had crawfish that bad before. It tasted like dead freeze dried crawfish. Never again would I ever go to this place. Not only did the food suck, the service sucked. So we were finished eating but the waitresses never came, they were standing at the counter yapping away. This place has pretty good crawfish. I've gone back a few times. However, I agree w/ the last reviewer that the spicy is extra spicy, and the extra spicy is insane. This is the only place that I can't order extra spicy from! The crawfish is well seasoned and they do have an option of adding garlic to the crawfish. (However, they don't use that much garlic so you might as well not even ask for it). PROS: - The ambiance is nice. However, it can get cold so wear a jacket just in case. - The bowl they give you w/ the crawfish. It has a place to put your crawfish and a place for the dipping sauce. - The girls are cute and friendly. - The restrooms and tables are clean. - They serve beer and margaritas (watery). - They have really good curly fries. - 99% of the time, they sell only live crawfish...and they were one of the few places that had live crawfish later into the year. CONS: - The price. It is about $1-2 dollars more than other places. I think that it has to do w/ all of the seasoning that they use. - The crawfish w/ garlic option is disappointing, since they don't give you a lot of garlic. - The place is kind of cold. - DO NOT ORDER TO GO. I ordered 2 lbs of extra spicy and 2 lbs of spicy this weekend, and the guy gave me 4 lbs of extra spicy!!! Also, the bags weren't labeled either). ... So where do I start, HORRIBLE SERVICE! 1st our waitress gave us drinks with no straws and we had to ask for our straws, then while I was ordering my food, she was telling me how things on the menu she doesn't recommend because the whole restaurant would stink as if i care, its seafood, I just think she didn't want to smell it. Then my friend asked for a pink lemonade and the waitress asked if she wanted diabetes, I felt that was rude. Then my friend asked for a water and the other waiter that was also serving us went straight to the back and watched TV and we had to re-ask for the water. Then lastly I ordered fried oreos, as I was talking to my friend I seen the guy walk the oreos to another table and sit it on the their table and walk away. They couple at the table called the waiter back over and said we didn't order oreos and I watched him pick the oreos back up and take it to the back, maybe 10 min later I seen him ask the waitress that took my order which table had the oreos, she then pointed at my table and I seen him go back to the back and grab the same oreos and bring it to me and said here is your fried oreos, I went on to say that I seen him put the oreos down on another table then take it to the back for 10 min and bring the same plate out and that's its unsanitary and I want fresh oreos. The first time I went there I was totall blown away with everything I was served. Glad I didn't write a review right away because I feel like the quality was just somehow steadily going down hill. Their sauce for the crawfish gets saltier and saltier. I am not 20 any more and with the set of genes my family set me up with, I better be watching my sodium intake. Came here for the first time with a few friends. The food was okay but it was nothing to make me want to come back again. A lot of the things we were trying to order weren't available and they didn't have any fresh crawfish, which to me is crucial; because if your restaurant is called Hank's Crawfish, having fresh (and the option of frozen) crawfish should be a must. I ended up getting the catfish poboy and a small cup of gumbo. To give credit where it's due, the poboy was really good. The fish was nice and crispy and the bread was firm yet still soft when you bit into it. The gumbo was good as well but it could use just a little more Tony's Chacheries (a.k.a. Salt). I personally didn't like the Cajun fries, mostly because I'm not a fan of super thick french fries, but my friends said they loved them. All in all, it wasn't a complete loss. read more

I was excited to bring my family to get our first taste of crawfish for the season. It was incredibly packed and we had to sit at a table by the door. It's 40° outside so we experienced that every time the door was opened. No heat inside whatsoever. Ok so we start ordering and before we could get our order out we were told that we would be charged 15% gratuity for our party of 5 if everyone ate! If everyone ate?! My "party" consisted of 3 adults 1 child and 2 infants. Seriously! Because the "manager said so"! I wanted to walk out at that point but id driven from the other side of town to eat here so we stayed. We ordered 5 lbs of crawfish along with our entrees. The crawfish were insultingly small. I get that it's been cold and all bit to be charged market price for small crawfish is robbery and to add insult to injury charging 15% on top of that to make money. We spent almost $150 eating here and I feel like my money was wasted. I will NEVER come to this location ever again. I will patronize BB's from now on. The service is better, there's much more room, and they don't charge us a required gratuity to feed our babies off our plates. read more

We ordered the Crawfish Half & Half which was a handful of salty fried crawfish & crawfish etouffe with white rice. The dish consisted mostly of bland garlic bread. Great service great food what more can you ask for... Crawfish is a great size!!!! Try all their wings esp garlic and the Cajun ones with their shrimp fried rice.... I would recommend this place anytime... Try the garlic butter crawfish I like mines spicy... Fried catfish is fried perfectly not over battered....If you want authentic Cajun style food hanks on Bellaire is closes thing to it...
