The broth is a 10/10. I love to eat spicy foods but not that well, so having the option to do half and half pot (Yin-Yang Pot) was so great. A lot of hotpot restaurants claim that their "spicy pot" is really spicy and a majority of the time, it really isn't..but this place is actually spicy! Little Sheep is a Flushing hotpot gem! I came here around 12:30pm on a weekday and it was half full. I was surprised at how clean and spacious the interior was. I got the lunch special ($11.95) deal which comes with a soup base, 4 oz. serving choice of protein, variety of greens/tofu/noodles/etc. This deal is a STEAL! We also got the lamb skewers (half spicy, half original) and BOY OH BOY were those perfectly cooked. I got the pork belly and it was perfectly sliced and tasted great. The veggies and other toppings were so delicious and the broth was the best. My friend and I shared a half half broth and it just looked and tasted so rich. I don't have much hotpot experience but I could tell this was a really good place. The spicier side had a lot of peppers and I enjoyed the kick it gave. Best hotpot I've ever had so far! A little disclaimer: I've only been to AYCE hotpot places before. So you know, not exactly super quality meat. BUT I can still see quality when I taste it. And I spent the same amount of money here as I do for normal AYCE hotpot! First of all, the broth. That's their biggest selling point, and for good reason. The broth was soooo good. And they suggest you don't eat this style of hotpot with sauces, because the broth would be seasoning enough. I was a little skeptical, so I made myself a nice little bowl of sauce... and barely touched it during my meal. They were so right. No sauce, and it tastes amazing. Secondly, great selection. And great presentation! I know tofu is tofu whether it's served in a fancy little plate or on some 99c dish... but your eyes gotta eat too! I love how they bring out the ingredients. And finally, the service was great. I was a little worried because I don't speak any dialect of chinese... but not only do they speak english, there's a lot of non chinese people that eat here. Food quality was good overall, seating was a little tight, but service was very good. We had a big party of 13, so they put us in a private room which was better for just 12 (it had 4 hot plates on one long table). For the 4 of us on one end of the table, we shared one pot of half original broth and half spicy. The spicy was much too spicy for us, so we ended up only using it for half the time, and only with the rice cake and tomato (which came in the vegetable platter). We also ordered taro, which I feel is always good in hot pot, especially when it almost melts and becomes part of the broth. But I didn't like the tong ho vegetable that my companion ordered. It's an acquired taste, I guess, because she liked it. Also avoid the green bean noodles, they were way too chewy, even after cooking it for a while. It seemed like we ordered all the styles of tofu they had: rolled, flat, fried, silken, even fish tofu. My favorite was the fried tofu. I had the chicken skewers at the location in Manhattan, so wanted to try it here; it was not as good, maybe needed more flavor. Pork dumplings were alright, didn't like the sauce it came with (I think it had vinegar in it?). The dumplings with roe inside were pretty good. Really liked the sauce selection they have here also. I strongly recommend the "half and half" broth, which comes in a divided pot with the house original broth on one side and a spicy broth on the other. I recently came back on a second visit and I am upgrading to 4 stars, their original broth is excellent. My second visit was for lunch and they had a very reasonable lunch set for $13, it was a protein and an assortment of vegetables. I do give them props for the ingredients being really fresh, I like that the fish balls, beef tendon ball, shrimp and pork ball were all homemade, it's refreshing to see that it's not just all frozen. Their sauce station was kinda disappointing though, it did seem extremely lacking, but on the bright side, the sauces were kinda unnecessary. If you have over 10 people, you can get a VIP room with karaoke (there's a minimum per person). They have a really good variety of vegetables, meat, and seafood options you can choose from. The portions do come big so ordering 1/2 size is good for 2 people. I would order the full size for 4 people and over. New favorite hot pot place! Decided to come celebrate here with my friend formatching into a residency. Originally we went to 99 favors but they had a crazy wait time so decided to come try here. The place is very well laid out and extremely clean. We were met at the door soon as we came in by a friendly staff member who led us to our table. Our server came shortly and was polite enough to ask if we had ever tried hot pot and then proceeded into explaining everything on the menu. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about which meats, seafoods, veges and side dishes to get. Once we picked what we wanted, he double checked to make sure it was what we wanted and went to put our order in. Our food was brought out shortly but since we ordered a good amount it took up a significant amount of table space. Our waiter again came to the rescue with a side table to place all the food. During our meal other staff members would continually stop by to check in on us and to make sure everything was going well which I definitely appreciated. So for hot pot experience, I have been to spring shabu and 99 favors multiple times and have enjoyed both. I have to say that the quality of the meat, the broth and other dishes were definitely of another caliber here. The especially was delicious and I could honestly have that alone for a meal. We got the half and half. The spicy side was very good but the regular broth was ridiculously good. My friend and I had a good couple cups of that alone just because of how good it was. One of my go-to places in Flushing for the price and quality of the meat. Found out about this place around 8 months ago and came back at least 5 times after. I wanted to make a public announcement that they changed the price for the Mon-Fri meat ayce/buffet from $18.95 to $20.95, which is still an excellent price for the great service and food quality. The waiters walk by very often and you can hail them down to make an order. They also fill your cup with water often. You can see this as a con because you may think this is a tactic to make you drink more water to fill up at an ayce, but you're not forced to. Plus, I drink tons of water when I eat normally, so I'm happy when I receive a pitcher of water for self refilling, like they do in the Korean restaurants, or if my glass is refilled often by a waiter, like in Happy Lamb. By the way, did I mention this is an "only meat" buffet if you choose buffet over a la carte?* It's the complete opposite of Spring Buffet or Yasaiya, the vegetable only ayce hotpot. Happy Lamb only gives you five choices of meat to choose from, lamb, pork, fatty beef, chicken breast, or fish and nothing else. All the vegetables are ordered a la carte. You can also spend an extra $2 a person for unlimited bean curd sticks, glass noodles, and wide bean noodles if you'd like. I've never tried the noodles before. I'm fine with this small selection of meat since I normally eat heaps of sliced lamb and sliced beef. *They don't only do ayce. I would have given 5 stars (closer to 4.5 but 4 is too low) had it not been for my previous visit. I had brought my family here after raving about this newly reopened restaurant to celebrate my Mom's milestone birthday after our previous positive experiences. Although it was a Thursday evening, it was PACKED! We even had to wait for a table (albeit, a short wait), which has never happened before during our previous visits on Fridays! Anyway, after selecting our first round of meats and attempting to order a second plate of fatty beef, we were told that it was sold out. SOLD OUT?! What kind of hotpot place sells out of FATTY BEEF?! That was red flag #1 of the night. There must've been multiple promotions aside from the "3 for the price of 2" deal going on for the fatty beef to have been sold out since it was only a Thursday night and packed! We were beginning to realize that the restaurant was heavily understaffed and completely unprepared for the dinner rush. It took a much longer time from ordering meats until it was delivered, and that's if you were able to flag any servers down as they were completely overwhelmed. So, because of this, we decided that the best course of action is to order another round of meats before we were completely finished with the current ones we had on our table so that by the time we actually received our next round of meats, our current ones would already be consumed. This is when flag #2 occurred. The server told me that we had to finish our current dishes (including the non-meat plates) first before she would put in the new order for meats due to food waste. I didn't realize I had to finish NON-MEAT dishes in order to order MEAT dishes /s. First of all, I'm a huge proponent of not wasting any food, and when I say any, I mean it. This is coming from someone who literally eats every single grain of rice from my bowl and will take home the seasoning/broth of dishes so that I can repurpose and make lunch the next day. Secondly, it wasn't as though we had full plates of meat left (it was less than half which would have been done by the time she brought us the next round). Lastly, isn't your policy to charge extra in cases where there's excessive foods leftover, anyway? I've obviously agreed to this policy since I was aware of it and still dined here so what's the issue? It was quite embarrassing to be rejected like this at a dinner that was supposed to be celebratory and especially at a place we had highly recommended. We suspect that the rejection was more due to their miscalculation of how many people they were expecting that evening and must've been running low on stock (hence, the sold out fatty beef), therefore, attempting to limit orders but that's truly not the diner's fault. If anything, diners should've received some discounts for not being able to order fatty beef for all the tables that came in after us, had they not been made aware prior to seating, and we should've been made aware that fatty beef was running low prior to seating (yes, it's my favorite dish, that's why I'll keep mentioning it, lol!). In any case, we finished our current meat plates and yes, ordered more meats (minus the fatty beef of course). Separately, there was one instance previous to this visit that struck me as odd, and interestingly, by the same server. When I had asked for extra spicy for my broth, I was told to try it first before asking for more spice. Now, had it not been for my limited Mandarin knowledge, I would have stated the following: I am not your child so please don't treat me as such. I'm a grown woman who knows her own tolerance for spice and had already experienced what their spice is like, because I've dined here before! Needless to say, when she came back to ask if the spice level was high enough (kudos for actually checking), she had to get me more spice. I was trying to save you the time and effort but oh well. It's a shame because we thought we had finally found the perfect hotpot gem in Flushing after all our OG spots had closed down...but with so many new hotpot restaurants opening where others have fallen, I'm more inclined to try a new spot. We trekked out to Queens cos their Manhattan location was under renovation. This location is nice! Im assuming they had recent renovations during the pandemic! All wood tone and white tone decor! Very modern looking! Ventilations were really good. If u've been to little sheep before, u know that its not AYCE hotpot. We felt like they didnt have alot of the items we usually order, but they did have alot of basic items! Their broth is amazing! I love love their spicy broth and gf got the regular broth! So flavorful! Literally drink spoonfuls of it in between eating LOL It was a tad bit cold inside possibly cos they had ventilation and air running throughout the restaurant. It definitely gets busier around dinner time so try to come early! We got here around 5-ish on a Saturday night, no rsvps! Service was rather slow.. we had this sign that we rotate each time we needed something but takes awhile for them to notice and sometimes they'll forget it and i'll have to mention to another waitress in passing.. they should consider a button for service request instead. Picking out the sauce was abit different, they roll the cart to you, but i wish they labeled everything so we have an idea instead of pointing to ask whats this, whats that. I also saw a lot of friends post pictures/stories of this place so I decided to give it a shot. I came with one of my friends on a Wednesday night and we were seated right away. It was around 630ish PM and the place was pretty empty. The menu was very simple, efficient and easy to read. We ordered beef tripe, the large meat platter, another meat platter, the veggies combo, intestines, glass noodles, 2 large sapporo beers and possibly a few more that I can't really remember. The soup base was very flavorful and delicious and you didn't even need sauce. However, I am a spice fanatic so I opted for more chili oil/soy sauce. Everything was extremely fresh and tasty and at the end of the meal, we were extremely full and satisfied. I had a very good experience here. This place is very spacious, modern looking and clean. I have had hot pot in Manhattan Chinatown places, and the food here is similar. There is a little stove top in the middle of the table where they put the metal pot. You choose the soup base you want in the pot. I opted for the standard soup, and it was pretty good. If I were to come back though, I would try the spicy soup base for that added kick. You then choose which meats and vegetables you want them to bring to the table and you boil everything yourself in the pot. The slices of lamb were very thin and cooked very quickly in the pot. We also cooked some noodles, tofu, fish, meat balls, bok choy, and radish. It was great fun - they were no match for the boiling soup. Depending on how many ingredients you choose, two people can easily fill up on $30 to $40 worth. I would also recommend the appetizer I chose - the Mongolian beef pie. There is an option to choose spicy or regular broth, but since I was with friends, we did "ying-yang" and tasted both. FYI, the spicy sauce is really really spicy. Maybe I can't take too much spicy but this broth made me drink more water to wash it down (which really didn't help the situation much). The regular broth, on the other hand, was really tasty. They had a sauce bar which had pretty much everything (soy sauce, hot sauce, cilantro, scallions, garlic, peanut sauce, and etc). It's different from Minnie's where each person gets their own bowl to cook their food. Here, you share the soup base in the middle and cook your items inside. I came here with a group of people. If you are a big bunch you can get a table with 2 pots to heat up the broth and food. I would recommend to go in with a game plan on what you and your friends want in the broth. We just each filled a plate and put everything in but then it all gets mixed up.
