Had a free drink according to my reboot card, so I used it. Waited almost 30 min. for our drinks. There were only 2 people working, but I wish they had warned me beforehand. I love their salted cheese, I was so bummed I haven't been here in a while lol. First time having happy lemon after so many people raved about it! I can say that their drink (puff cream milk tea and mango Yakult smoothie) was pretty bomb. We went here after the craze died down since their grand opening. The wait wasn't long and they give you a lil lemon number and you can check when your drink is up next to be made. Kinda nice. The place is spacious but doesn't seat enough people like snow crave and mr. green bubble. So if you have a big group, you may have to stand around or grab all their tables. I always visit this location whenever I have a craving for their dessert milk tea or smoothies. I came here last Tuesday and tried their new Strawberry Shortcake smoothie drink which is puff cream on the bottom and swirled around the cup. Then a better version of their strawberry smoothie. It was a rich, excellent strawberry smoothie paired with the salted and rich puff cream. After drinking 1 cup, I was getting addicted to it. After I visited them 3 days in a row. This is by far my favorite Happy Lemon location as it is close to the Union City BART and close to Safeway. I appreciate the huge dining area which creates a casual and comfy vibe. The chairs and tables are comfy for friends to chitchat. Customer service has improved since 4 people worked there - I have seen young college students work there now. And they are happy and helpful which is cool! It creates a more professional feel for Happy Lemon. The young adults who worked there are helpful, nice, and polite to their customers. They even help each other out and train, to be a stronger team. This location is pretty popular in that area because businesses, high school students, and other families come to buy their favorites. I get their Mango Matcha with Mango or Lychee jelly, Strawberry Shortcake, or Freshly squeezed Black tea. I rarely buy their waffles - Highly recommend the chocolate waffle with dipping puff cream sauce. The puff cream is 4 oz which cost $1. YOu can adjust your level of sweetness and ice at this establishment. Customer service is 5/5! Improved in many respects. The menu is still the same but added the Strawberry Shortcake - a rich, creamy puff cream served on a better version of the Strawberry smoothie. 5/5. They are still relatively new and the staff is all smiles and in good moods when you walk in. They customize the sweetness of each drink to your liking. I love happy lemon especially their sea salt series; before the pandemic I world go for boba pretty frequently with friends (about once a month if not more haha sweet tooth for boba); and I always loved the sea salt series especially with green tea. since the pandemic tried taking boba to go and both times it was very watery and warm; the wait was long and it wasn't a good experience. Happy Lemon takes over the location formerly occupied by Payless Shoe Source in Union City. Not sure why this Happy Lemon took so long to open, but it finally has. I mixed up which days the Union City and San Leandro stores were opening, so I got here when they were still preparing for their Grand Opening. I made it to their Grand Opening two days later. Thankfully the line was inside the store, so I didn't have to breathe the smoky air outside. The wait was about twenty minutes to get to the counter to order, where the staff were pleasant and accommodating. There was a short wait after ordering. My number was called, and I got my drinks. Union City keeps on getting better and better especially with the addition of Happy Lemon! My absolute favorite from here is the Manga Matcha Smoothie! I drank it before I took a picture, so I'll definitely add it next time haha. Never would you expect for two delicious flavors separately to pair so well! For most other drinks, I'd recommend 50% or less on sweetness since many boba places in the bay including Happy Lemon have drinks that are a bit sweeter than normal. Although I'm not a salted cheese fanatic, it was pretty good, but I definitely prefer my drinks without them. We had to come to Happy Lemon tonight because they had a 4th of July special where if you register, bring your voucher, and spend $25 in drinks (cannot buy $25 gift card), you get a very nice Limited Edition Happy Lemon 4th of July T-shirt for free! We got 4 large drinks in order to get to the $25 mark. We got the super yummy, no-caffeine Mango Yakult Smoothie (G3) for our son but it's so good that I want to order it again for myself. This comes with mango bits so we didn't need to add boba. We also got the (G4) Taro Milkshake (no caffeine) w/boba which was also super delish! The other two drinks, Milk Tea Oreo Tiramisu Salted Cheese (A5) w/boba and the (A7) Matcha Latta Tiramisu with Salted Cheese w/boba are really good as well but has caffeine. I wish they made Salted Cheese drinks with no caffeine. The boba is firm and chewy at the same time which is good for me. All of what we ordered are quite good. This place is very clean and quite huge. They took over the old Payless Shoesource so they have a lot of room to work with. I love the Happy Lemon mascot that they have since it's great for photo ops. They had three employees working when we came in and they are all super sweet. I noticed that they greet and acknowledge everyone that comes in the door which is very impressive to me since not a lot of places seem to bother to greet their customers anymore. One of the employees even came up to talk to us to see how we are doing and another one offered to take our photos when we were having a difficult time holding our drinks and taking a selfie at the same time. This is such a nice place to hang! We feel very welcomed. The lower chairs are comfy and there's plenty of room on the lot table for our drinks. We didn't sit on the stools with the higher tables so I'm not sure how comfy those are. I like how they are close to Rite Aid, Dollar Tree and Safeway so we can easily stop by while running errands. I like their reward card as well. It's very cute and sturdy. I'm sure I'll earn my free drink soon. Not only are their drinks consistently on point, I'm pretty sure they are the only ones who make it a point to ask how my day is going or just spark a conversation. Whenever I get my drink here...A2-black tea with salted cheese on top and 25% sugar/ice its is always, always made the same! Sweetness and ice ice is fully customizable by the way! Happy lemon was the first place I tried salted cheese and wow life changing! Don't let the word cheese scare you as you should think of it like a cheesecake. It's a thick cream that they layer on top of the tea and it's a perfect pairing! I typically change the sweetness to be less at almost every boba place but they have the perfect proportions here. I can't comment on what the dragon fruit drink taste like since it wasn't for me but I thought it was weird that they add cream in the drink. As for my strawberry oolong tea, it was quite refreshing. As for customer service, it was just ok. They either need to lower the volume of the music or put speakers though the plexiglass. Though I'm rarely in town now, I always tend to make a quick stop at this location before going back to SoCal! This location is pretty big but I do wish they had more seating. It can get pretty crazy here ever since it's opening. At least parking is not that bad being in the large plaza it's in. My favorite will still have to be A2 Black Tea Salted Cheese. Try the salted cheese drinks! That's what they're known for. I especially recommend the classic milk tea with salted cheese. Sooo good. The matcha mango drink was just okay to me. Also this location is kinda stingy with their salted cheese. They charge an extra dollar if you want extra in your drink. I'm willing to pay for it, but the "extra" looked like the regular amount to be honest. That's why I knocked off a star for this location specifically. Wow!! Their Okinawa milk tea was so so good. They made it with fresh milk, and the taste of the brown sugar and fresh milk together was outstanding. It is sweet, even though I asked for 50% sugar - so if you prefer yours less sweet, I would recommend going 50% or less. Happy lemon also has a really cool punch card! Recently opened and will probably knock their neighbor Sno-crave out of business. This place probably makes the best drinks around the area. They're known for their salted cream cheese series which sounds odd initially as a drink but it tastes good! We love coming here for their salted cream cheese... I am not a fan of it myself and prefer regular milk teas or teas. I did try their regular milk tea with boba and it was good. My fiancé said it tasted fishy but I thought that was due to the milk? I didn't notice it when I tried it. The prices are a little higher than the other boba spots nearby but it matches to its higher quality. Their taro smoothie uses real fresh taro which is why it is white, not purple. We really enjoyed this drink due to its freshness and not powdery/synthetic tasting like other taro smoothies. The order system is very efficient and uses technology unlike other boba spots. There's a screen that shows all the orders and the statuses. After each order you will get a buzzer that buzzes when your order is ready. We have no problem with the wait time for our drinks (about 5 minutes?). OBSSESSED! I'll admit I'm a Happy Lemon newbie, but I've already been back here numerous times with no plans on stopping! My favorite drink would have to be the Mango Matcha! I've tried their Boba Milk Tea with Puff Cream and while it was good, it wasn't as mind blowing as the mango matcha. Their boba is also kind of hard. I still think Gong Cha has the best pearls!
