Happy Thai makes me happy. While I haven't had the opportunity to dine in (yet), I've been able to order for pickup on several occasions. Every time I call in, I get a friendly voice on the other side of the phone. They take my order, give me an estimated time for pick up and I'm there. My order's usually ready by the time I arrive but on the very few times it's not; it's usually ready in no more than a couple of minutes. I don't live very far from here so it doesn't take long before I'm able to dig in. Everything I've had is tasty but typically I alternate between the Pad Thai and the Pad See Ew. Sometimes I get both because Thai food makes for some of the best leftovers. Everything is cooked to perfection and as expected with Thai food, very flavorful. They even have desert if you have a sweet tooth, it's hard to go wrong with mango sticky rice... that is unless you don't like mango, rice or sticky things. The staff is friendly, the prices and portions are great and best of all, the food is delicious! If you're in the area and are looking for some good Thai food, Happy Thai is an excellent choice. read more

Still the Best Thai Restaurant! After so many years we've been ordering we still discover other dishes we never had before. Their Papaya Salad is great n so is their Tofu salad. My staff orders Cashew chicken n I've never tasted it. But then today I can't think of anything to order so Marissa suggested it and it was really good. My other favorites are the Spicy catfish fillet n their sticky rice with ripe mango slices are to die for. Great neighborhood place where everyone knows your name. I ordered rice with DOUBLE shrimp and literally got a lot of rice and 6 or 7 shrimp for almost 25 dollars

Had the chicken fried rice and drunken chicken noodles. Food was nice and hot and not to greasy. Also had the vegetable egg rolls. The sweet sauce they give with the egg roll was a good touch and paired well. Prices was fair and comparable to other Thai places in the area. Happy Thai was once Khun Dom restaurant that was down the street. Same owners just now named after the daughter. The food is delicious. I have been eating there for years prior to their move. My family and I have become regulars at their spot that they know our order without having to look at the menu. We found our favorite dishes here. We always get the spicy seafood soup. Their nam tok beef, their beef jerky. And from time to time we would get their pad se ew. Al their dishes are super flavorful and made to perfection. It's really hard to find great Thai food and this location is one of my favorites. Their new location is a bit small compared to their old location but same great taste. read more

MY FAVORITE THAI RESTAURANT!! My girl first brought me to their original location almost 8 years ago. And when they moved, we moved right along with them. Although we haven't been able to go as often as we used too, the staff still remembers our orders and always has such great customer service. We have tried multiple things on their menu, and everything is honestly so good. But we have our favorite when we come. The Thai beef jerky is a must here. There is nothing better compared to their beef jerky. You can literally eat this mindlessly and finish the whole thing to yourself. And the sauce that is served with it is the best pairing. Their pad se ew is like perfection. The texture and consistency is kind of addicting. I have to have this and pad Thai dish made a certain way or it completely ruins the dish for me. And this is great. The spicy seafood soup has such a great aroma and flavor in every slurp and bite. It comes in only a hot pot size. If you're looking for a bowl, get the shrimp and fish soup. It's the same thing but with those specific meats and have mushrooms. We request no mushrooms because my girl is allergic. We also get the nam Tok beef. The cut is just right. Like I really don't know how to boast more about this place other than when I'm craving Thai food, this is the only place that comes to mind. The Thai tea and Thai coffee is really good here too. And the server and customer service is is truly and absolutely amazing. We won't ever stop coming. They definitely got us as loyal customers for life. read more

Wow. You know that saying, do not judge a book by its cover? That totally applies here. We walked up and I was really hesitant to walk in because of what it looked like on the outside, but in we went and I'm so glad I made that decision. There are very few Thai restaurants that remind me of Thailand when I eat there. Thai food is robust in flavor but there are subtle nuances that make it umami and less like a salt bomb. I'm always on the fence about Panang Curry because most places choose to dip the entire peanut butter jar into the broth. But this place makes a perfect blend. I was SO surprised and ate it all up. In fact, we ate our entire meal in silence savoring the flavors. The prices are great, the food is even better. I'll definitely stop by when I'm in the area. read more

I'm happy I gave this place a try. I've been trying to find a go-to Thai place. We just finished the food and everything was delicious. We ordered papaya salad, curry, grilled pork, Tom kah Kai soup, basil chicken, and Mongolian beef. At first the papaya salad looks not spicy at all and I ordered spicy but then I take it back after tasting it. It had good taste and didn't torture me too much . Happy Thai indeed! There's so much good Thai food in Long Beach, but we always just go a couple places, and I decided it'd be a good idea to try out some new ones. I was super happy with the food here on average. The people there were super friendly, totally reasonable prices, and a decent amount of parking in the back - I will totally be back. We were hungry, so we split 3 things between us. Their wonton soup ($8 for a bowl) was much bigger than we were expecting, but we weren't complaining, because it was excellent. We usually get tom kha if we get soup, but my wife has pretty much perfected making that at home (because it's one of our favorite soups), so we decided to try something new this time, and I was happy we did, because it was delicious. I'm not used to broth-based soups having that much flavor! And of course, several large meaty dumplings. I'd totally get that again. The pad se ew $(8) was delicious, though admittedly, I'm spoiled from ST Noodle, which I think makes the best Thai noodles on the planet. The dish itself was super-flavorful and delicious (though it could have used a bit more Chinese broccoli), but the noodles weren't quite as springy as the amazing noodles from ST Noodle. Still great, though, especially for the price. We got it with pork - the pork they used was excellent meat, very flavorful and no gristle or anything. Their Panang curry ($9 - but really $11, because it doesn't come with rice, and obviously you want rice) was one of the best Thai curries I've had in a long time. Soooo much flavor in the curry - word of warning, their "medium" for curry is actually fairly spicy (I thought it was the perfect spice level, but it is a little spicier than medium typically is, if you're a spice wuss). I got this one with beef, and I wasn't as impressed with their beef - it was tender and not gristly, but was kind of lacking in beefy flavor. I'd absolutely get their panang curry again (in fact, typing this out, I totally want it again right now - it's breakfast time, but that doesn't matter, that curry was so good)... but I'd probably get it with the pork. Wish I could have done half-and-half on the meats, but they charge $2 for mixing meat (kinda silly), and it's not really worth an extra $2, even if the base price *is* cheap. We also shared a taro smoothie, which is pretty much the same taro smoothie you could get anywhere. Doesn't taste like it was made in-house, but even if it was from a mix, it was at least from a high quality mix, and you get a good amount. I look forward to coming back and trying their thai tea next time, though, if I'm back somewhat earlier in the day (I learned my lesson a few years ago about drinking thai tea late at night - turns out it's actually fairly caffeinated, oops!) read more

This place is a gem! I came here over the weekend with my family and we ordered a few items from the menu and everything was fulfilling. The beef jerky was gone in a matter of minutes.The soups (green curry and coconut soup) were delicious with rice. Along with the rad nah (noodle in gravy) and the Nam Kao Tod salad--both were so good. They were able to accommodate to us and remove some of the ingredients for the salad. The server that helped us was extremely kind and she was funny too. This is no now my new favorite Thai restaurant. read more

The fried tofu was the best I've ever had. It was soft inside and the perfect crunch on the outside, not chewy at all. Sauce was divine! The perfect crumbly peanut with a slightly sweet chili peanut sauce. Seafood soup (like a Tom yum with coconut milk) hit all the notes. Was not lacking a thing! This was a pretty good stop. Food was good and not badly priced. Loved their tea with boba. My favorite thing was the kalamari appetizer. The actual dishes were not bad, but they really need to up their spice game. Food just wasn't as spicy as most Thai places. The dishes just didn't have that 5 star flavor.
