Harpoon Harry's was probably one of my favorite sit down breakfast in Key West. I like the old school diner feel, the bright colors and "art" on the wall, and they have a fully stocked bar behind the dining counter. Also the food was a step above your typical diner. We got to Harry's and we were seated at a booth right away. Looked over the menu and it was nice to see that prices were on the more reasonable side and most breakfast came with a side of potatoes that every other place in Key West feels the need to charge you extra. We ordered sandwiches - I had the cubano breakfast sandwich, my wife had the crossaint sandwich. You can choose what goes inside the ingredients and the bread was all very fresh and good. They even make their own hot sauce that I used to kick my meal up a notch. The staff and the manager were friendly coming over and chatting for a bit. Another hidden gem in Key West. It's a little off the beating path, but it's really an awesome spot to dine with the locals. It's not huge and it was very busy Saturday when we went for breakfast but it was worth the 15 min wait. We were sat within the quoted wait time and began to peruse the menu. What they have done is create a small business with a Waffle House mentality and then added Key West flair! What I mean is I ordered the two egg breakfast with awesome patties of sausage, scrambled eggs, some awesome home fries, that were seasoned in something divine,and some wheat toast. She ordered a breakfast sandwich with the home fries and a coffee. The coffee btw is much better than average! Cash only spot but it's so good and it cheap! While visiting Key West,Harpoon Harry's was always our go to breakfast place. On January 19, 2020 after the marathon my wife and I stopped by to eat. The place was busy. There was a 25 minute wait. The food seem to be rushed my wife had the Harry's special with a side of corn beef hash. The hash was burnt on the bottom yet it was cold.Today must have been an off day because food was not up to par. The woman serving us was great and even had a joke or two. What really disturbed me was there was a woman sitting at the counter with her dog under her chair. The dog was licking the floor and began yelping so she picked it up and put it on her lap.( see picture ) What you can't see is dog butt coming into contact with counter. Staff didn't see an issue with this, so for that I could only give one star. I will no longer be going to this restaurant. read more

Harpoon Harry's is my secret addition. I love *all* of their food. They also happen to be close to the marina I land off of (I live on the hook out in the water), so they are super convenient to me. They have a daily special that is popular among the locals because you can get it to go and save a few bucks on table service and the cost of your meal. You appreciate this when you live in Key West full-time and have to pay the same prices as tourists for every single meal that you eat. It adds up, so you really appreciate specials even if you're saving $2. It just feels good. It doesn't actually save your budget any. While they have quite an extensive menu and I've tried most of it, I typically find myself ordering the same thing ... and I tend to eat there at least once, sometimes twice a week. First, if I like whatever they have for a daily special, I'll go ahead and order that (for instance, their lasagna serving is *huge*). If I'm not a fan of the daily special, or just want my tried and true, which I'm always craving, I go with their Caesar salad (one of the best I've had), their grilled chicken sandwich and french fries. Nothing special or fancy, but they somehow do it better than everybody else. It's always so fresh. I opt for a full salad rather than a half. This is because many times I only eat one meal a day, so I want to make sure that I intake enough. My trips there cost me anywhere from $15-$25 on average if I don't get table service and I always expect to pay $35 for my meal if I get table service. It is important to remember though that I eat less meals per day than the average person, so my ticket is always going to be higher. I have friends who fill up there for way less. My point? It's worth $35 for me to eat a single meal there. The environment isn't anything fancy (it's nice, however it's just a typical restaurant), which means the food has to be pretty phenomenal for me to drop $35 on a single meal. It's that good. Oh, and they only accept cash. It's so easy to forget that. Don't worry, they gladly have an ATM that will charge you $3.00 or whatever the fee is, on top of whatever your bank will charge you. :) Make sure you have cash. I always try to grab a table outside if one is available. It is Key West, after all. I moved here for the weather, so I want to enjoy it and one way to enjoy it is while stuffing my face with delicious food from Harpoon Harry's. read more

The first place where we stopped after landing at Key west. Noticing a lot of positive reviews, I figured it would be a good place to dine. The spot is busy and keeps the staff on their toes. They aren't the friendliest which one usually expects at a restaurant. One minute after being seated, a lady was back for the order. She reacted strangely when we explained we needed more time. Ordered the crab cake and smoked salmon benedicts with the home potatoes fries. The crab cake was very salty. I ask for hollandaise sauce on the side and I needed to use more sauce than I usually do to discount the saltiness. The smoked salmon benedict was ok. The home fries are good but to be clear, they are just stir fried potatoes and not like a French fry. Their iced coffee was also meh. It wasn't strong and I was very disappointed. Ordered two turkey club sandwiches. Since the special Wednesday was turkey dinner I asked if I could have the clubs with fresh turkey. I was told the they don't normally do that and they would be mushy but they would make them if I wanted. I ordered them on rye bread. They came with lettuce and good tomato on them and both light and dark moist turkey. They were great, better than the chef expected. I plan on ordering them every Wednesday. The people there are so nice, very friendly and helpful. They should offer the sandwich on their Wednesday menu. read more

Friendly, personal and on top of things; all customers looked happy, including us :). My husband got the key lime French toast and it was a thing of beauty. He scarfed it up in minutes. I went for lunch which was fried clams with fries. The clams were decent size and amount and the fries were fine. I haven't had clams since I was in Maine six months ago so I was happy to see them! Harpoon Harry's always makes it on our list of places to stop when in Key West. As long as you make it before 10 there is no wait for a table. After that time there may be a short wait. There is also bar style seating. There is a parking lot across the street and street parking available, but you have to pay for both. But the food here is delicious and the prices are fantastic! There is also a small liquor store right at the front of the restaurant and they do have a bar. They make great bloody Mary's! The place is constantly packed with "locals" which tells you that the food is consistently delicious. read more

We walked into the restaurant on 1/19/24 to look at the menu. We were told with no one waiting to make up our minds or we need to go. I asked who was in front of us to apologize for my party of six . I was told by the woman who claimed I was up to something behind the counter to leave, I see what you're doing. She was rude and scream for us to leave. We were not loud or intoxicated. Her ATTITUDE and Demeanor was beyond rude she charge at me and threatened me she would punch me in my fucking face. When I asked for the manger she said she was it. We did nothing but looked at a menu. The employee needs serious training in customer service and obviously doesn't belong in that position. I will follow up with a phone call to the owner. The Key Lime French Toast is new on the menu and the presentation is a knock out. It is loaded with fresh berries and sliced bananas. The key lime filling is supreme. The tartness of the key lime calms down the sweetness and balances it all out. For me this is definitely not a breakfast item but morning is the perfect time to indulge in it.
