I always make a point of going to Harpoon Harry's every time I take a trip to Key West. Ron usually greets me at the door with a smile and always remembers I've been there before, even though its just an annual visit. Wednesday is turkey day, so the open face turkey served on Thursday is the special of choice. Turkey is the real thing and damn is it good. Prime Rib is served on Saturday, so the Prime Rib Benedict on Sunday is a true delight. Heaping Harry is a treat for breakfast. Fish and chips and the tuna melt are winners as well. It was hard to choose from the awesome menu selection...I went with Crab Cake Benedict. I'd sampled several Benedict's on the island over the week and this was by far the best. The two English muffins were very tasty and I wouldn't be surprised if they were from scratch. The two cakes had a great flavor and were large with two perfectly poached eggs and a bright hollendaise sauce. Not pictured is the order of sausage biscuits and gravy that my husband inhaled in 3.2 seconds. Needless to say, it is one of his faves. He also ordered the Key Lime Pie Stuffed French Toast. That's right, a piece of delicious pie sandwiched between two pieces of lovely French Toast, topped with blueberries. Whaaaa? So good! We suggest you get at least one for the table. Great place, eat here almost every day when I visit Key West, which is a couple weeks a year. Great service, friendly servers, good food, and good value. Outdoor seating, which in Key West means you can eat outdoors year round. Interesting decor if you eat inside, including a fully stocked liquor store. Cute little place with decent sized parking right across the street. Went for brunch around 9:30AM, place wasn't busy when we got there but became a little busy as we ate. Nice sized menu, typical breakfast menu, and decent prices. Food came out quick and tasted great! Now my problem was once the place started to get busy, our waiter seemed to forget all about us. He was quick to get our plates out of the way and then we waited over 10 minutes just for the guy to come pick up our check. We tried so hard to get his attention and it was like he purposefully ignored us. After waiting 10 minutes, we finally got his attention, only to find out that they only accepted cash! Thank god we had the cash, but after, he didn't wait for me to give him cash, he walked away. Resulting in another 5 minutes of us to close out our bill. Wish it didn't take that long and honestly if he paid more attention to us trying to leave, this place would've gotten 5 stars from me. I went here for my key west breakfast on the recommendation of my host who is a local and I am confident I found the best breakfast in key west. Bike parking is convenient across the street and I saddled up the the bar and had a fantastic lobster Benny and crispy perfectly seasoned home fries. The place was busy but it was well staffed and service was super friendly. Prices were totally decent considering it is key west and I picked a lobster dish ($16 pre tip for my plate). I don't know how they have so many stars. First of all, every employee is elderly (no offense) but it took 10 minutes before someone finally took our drink order. Then when the food arrived it was just ok, average at best. I can get the same quality food at Perkins. Another long wait for our check. During a recent visit to Key West, our hotel room wasn't ready when we arrived since we had an early flight. Of course, we had to find a delicious breakfast spot. Since it was raining, we didn't want to venture too far. We asked at the hotel, and they recommended this spot. There was a short wait and we ended up at a table on the patio, which was covered and semi-enclosed. It wasn't too hot, even though it was a 90 degree day. Service was quick--our breakfast came out within 10 minutes of ordering. I opted for a blood Mary (VERY strong vodka-wise, but nothing overly special about it) and the BLTE sandwich with a side of the potatoes. This was delicious and definitely a breakfast diner type meal. I didn't note anything fancy on the menu, but I think their standard diner menu works for them. My husband had a seafood omelette that contained lobster and crab, and it was overflowing with lump crabmeat and lobster pieces and topped off with a delicious Hollandaise-like sauce. I kind of got the vibe that it's more of an eat and run kind of place, as opposed to an eat and hang out and chat place.
