I think eating in the Financial District is a high wire act. There are places that are institutions, and it takes some insider knowledge to find those, and there are the majority of places that are built to survive when the locals go home and the tourists are out..... I come to this area a lot for business and end up in the district for dinner. I was told about Harry's as well as a few other places. Harry's stuck out and we wanted a casual and bar vibe, so we went. Very few times do places live up and check every box. This place did. At first it was a bit loud, but we settled into it and it was not an issue. It's a little dark, clubby, warm and it feels like you found something special when you walk in. We came in to sit at the bar and eat, but it was pretty busy for a Tuesday, no stools free...so we checked with the host....and were seated at a bar table. It was comfortable and cozy. Bustling but you did not feel crowded We had a couple servers. A back server who did drinks and cleared plates and she was a darling - always around, checking in, cool, fun and just right. Then we had a main server who knew what he was doing. He helped with the menu, recommendations, build our meal progression, paced it out and made it perfect. We started with drinks - shared manhattan's. So cool, nice glasses, a carafe of Michters Manhattan's with the right accompaniments. It was perfect and they were delicious, and easy to order a few rounds. Appetizers were Bluepoint Oysters and Baked Clams- fresh and delicious Arugula and Asparagus Salad was a nice treat, refreshing and perfect The menu is complete, and they have enough gears for anyone's taste. We did the burger and it was divine. Next time I am trying the Chicken Picatta or Fish - but every bite of food was perfect. Overall, we had TON of food and while it's Manhattan and nothing is very reasonable, this was totally FAIR. I walked out having the perfect evening, feeling like I ate just enough and felt like I paid what it was worth. Came here for lunch. Was severely underdressed since I came here on a whim, in a T-shirt and shorts. Felt pretty out of place as most people are business casual at least. Anyway, got a burger and a glass of Cote du Rhone. The burger was good, and surprisingly the standout for me were the fries, which were served in a hot tin, to stay, well hot, but also crispy. Haven't had that sort of touch in a while. The burger was alright, but I think it was dry aged but didn't taste like it, and was a bit dry. The wine I got tasted oxidized, like it was a leftover bottle from the night or two nights before. Visited here on my last day NYC. If I would have found this place sooner, I probably would visited a few times. Stumbled across this place while walking to Beaver Building (The Continental in the John Wick Films), which was only a couple minutes walk away. This place is cool because it's almost underground. It gives date night/special occasion vibes. Had a whiskey old fashion and a tequila old fashion (I know it's odd, just trust me). They both tasted great. Jacob was the bartender for us and he is the reason we would go back. Made great cocktails and great conversation. I believe it's better to directly address the establishment first but 1 week has passed since I sent email directly to manager with no reply. As to dinner, it was very disappointing. I will preface by saying that a Thanksgiving menu does pose its challenges, but a good kitchen/staff should overcome those challenges. Soup--barely warm. Baked Clams-the same. Rolls--kind of stingy that you are only offered 1. Once done, bread plate is swiftly taken away. My venison, while a large portion, was cool and very tough. My wife had to send back her turkey plate because it was also barely warm and turkey was flavorless. It was replaced but not much better. My daughter's filet was very good--assuming it was since it was an addition, so it was freshly fired. As to service, our waiter was obviously very friendly with the young blonde lady at the table next to ours with several hugs and conversations throughout dinner so there was some distraction with that. Also, we had not even received our cocktails and he came over for us to order, I told him can you at least wait until we get our cocktails and as soon as the drinks were put down, he came back over for the order. (Sent to Harry's management) Good Morning, I'm a long time Harry's customer and fan going back 15 years or so. Harry's has been my go-to spot for business lunches. When our broker from London invited me to lunch, I wanted it to be a special "only in NYC" type of restaurant, which meant something special. We were seated promptly. We ordered a 1986 Napa cabernet and when it arrived at the table there was no offer to decant it. We had to ask the waiter and then he did so. We told the waiter we needed a minute before ordering and he disappeared for what felt like a long time. When the food arrived, there was no offer to grind some pepper on the steaks. We once again had to ask the waiter and then he did so. The special service that Harry's is/was known for was completely lacking. The food was very good, as always. Nearby, there were very casually (too casually) dressed patrons. Overall, I felt that I had chosen the incorrect restaurant for the occasion and it was not special for "Broker from London". We had family meeting in Manhattan for a couple days of reconnecting and sightseeing, and bring that we are very much food-oriented, we sought a good place for dinner. We reserved a table for the 7 of us at 6 pm, but through the day somehow got that mixed up, thinking it was 7pm. On calling at about 5:30, the hosts graciously extended our reservation to 6:30, allowing us all enough time to get there. We arrived and were immediately seated at a large, round table. The atmosphere was great; dark, most noises were damped so it wasn't too loud. Off to the races! The food selections were varied and everything was very good. From the sea scallops to the filet mignon, and one of party actually had a proper steak. All were cooked to perfection. The flavors were traditional, but very rich. I could go into great detail on my own selections, but there's no need, as our group picked from all over the menu and nobody was disappointed. All the way through dessert, the mood was great and the service was fantastic. The team was very well practiced in when to attend and when not to. This review is for both Harry's and the little bar they have. First make sure you are aware of Harry's hours because if you want dinner at 4pm on the weekends make sure their brunch hour is over first or you'll have to wait until Harry's is ready to seat you even though you have a reservation. Any ways, if you are fortunate to be like us and have to wait they seat you in their bar mind you it is separate from the restaurant-make sure you close your tab before actually going to the restaurant. Wait staff in the bar was amazing! They have a good cocktail list but seemed versed in other drinks as well. They have bakery items you can partake in we had macarons for the first time so good! After about 4:15pm my niece in which we came there for went to check on our reservation. The restaurant was still not ready so after we moms got together with the hostess who was trying to seat us in a nice location we told her we were fine just anywhere would do we got sat. After that everything went smoothly, staff was super attentive, very engaging, answered all our question. I came with a coworker for lunch on a random Thursday. He had been before, but I had not. We sat at the bar, which was completely empty when we showed up around 11:45am. We both had the Steak Sandwich. I substituted my fries for a side salad and my coworker had the fries. The fries are great, but the salad definitely helped cut the richness of the sandwich. The sandwich was amazing - the steak was tender and juicy. The cheese melted so well with the steak and the bread was super soft. I loved it. It's pricey, but it's worth it. This was my first visit back to Harry's since the pandemic. It's a clubby oasis with comfortable banquettes and dim lighting. I can't say enough about the service. The waitstaff were impeccable from the time we arrived to the time that we left. I had an excellent martini. The wine list is comprehensive, with varied selections. We started with a really good wedge salad, excellent blue point oysters and awesome stuffed clams. My daughter is fixated on Harry's beef Wellington. She said it's a top 10 entree. I had the bone in rib eye. It was the best steak that I have had within recent memory. The tempura onion rings were off the chart. The asparagus was our attempt to be healthy. We concluded dinner with excellent cappuccino and sorbet. I don't understand why Harry's isn't spoken of along with New York's elite steakhouses. It has my vote! Harry's is a steakhouse located in the financial district of lower Manhattan. The venue has been open since 1972 and is a go to place in Wall Street. I ended up coming to Harry's with a colleague for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We didn't need a reservation and Harry's had a table open for 2. The restaurant is stunning. There is limited lighting inside the restaurant and you may need to use the flashlight app on your phone to see the menu. The ambiance is relaxing! Harry's seems like a great date spot too! The service is outstanding at Harry's! We were immediately seated and provided waters. After reviewing the menu, we had decided to order the following Appetizer: Greek: Feta, Kalamata & Olives ($15.00) Entrees: Chitarra Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe ($21.00) Colleague got a steak Dessert: N.Y. Style Cheese Cake ($12.00) The salad was delicious! All of the ingredients were fresh and perfectly crisp! The Cacio E Pepe was scrumptious! The pasta was actually brought in the pan it was cooked in and left at the table. It was a little different preparation than what I'm used to seeing, but it still was good! For the dessert, we split a N.Y. Style Cheese Cake! This was the highlight of the evening. The cheese cake was absolutely amazing! I ordered the filet mignon ($58) medium well--don't judge me steak snobs--and I would say a medium finish would probably be just as delicious. I can't have steak medium rare in some places because it is too pink for my taste but if you're venturing out on trying different finishes on steak-- a medium done steak at Harry's would be a good experience. I came here for a work dinner. The restaurant is super cute and has a great ambiance. The staff were very attentive and the food was great (so much so that I forgot to take pictures of everything). We had a select menu so I chose the Buffalo mozzarella, filet mignon and then we shared fries and broccolini and I ended the night with cheesecake The Buffalo mozzarella was a light starter option. The steak was cooked well where you don't need sauce however one of our waiters mentioned how they make their own steak sauce so I had to try it. It was good but you don't even need it. I wanted to sit at a four top by the window and was told I could not sit anywhere but a two top in the middle of the room. The oysters were good and fresh but a tad on the smaller side. For the premium we paid for a bone-in steak, it seems fraudulent to re-use a bone that may be from someone else's order and throw it in a pan with two pieces of meat to give the appearance of an actual porterhouse. (The bone was unquestionably from a different steak. The cut edges were cooked and it was considerably thicker than the two steaks it came with. I really hope it hadn't been served to someone else and re-used). Hostess was generally uninterested and rude. Didn't bother to look at reservation notes regarding seating requests. Didn't really greet us. Just kind of looked at me like I was bothering her when I approached the host stand. Onion rings came out cold and soggy. I took an out of town guest because my recollection was that this was one of the better steaks in Manhattan. Very disappointed with our experience at Harry's, specifically due to our waiter, Nick. We had a guest at our table with a food allergy who asked a simple question about whether a red sauce was available. His initial response, "If we had it, then I would give it to you," was confusing and came across as unnecessarily rude. Because the response was so unwarranted, the guest asked for clarification, saying, "So that means you don't have it?" to which he replied, "That's another way to say no, we don't have it." The servers are generous and timely with their pours, and instead of bottomless mimosas you get bottomless champagne with the order of an entrée (which does not taste that bad given it's cheap champagne). If you want any type of juice with the champagne, though, it is $9 extra which was a little bit too much of an upcharge. The food overall was good, but price of bottomless depends on the entrée you choose. Brunch plates range from $23 to around $36, so your choice of food will determine how much brunch is total. They don't claim themselves to be a steakhouse, in fact when I called in as Harry's Steakhouse, I was corrected. They do their meats well! Loved the classy and Uber popular beef Wellington - tender and juicy and perfect pastry on the outside - a great combination! We also tried the Lamb curry rice which was flavorful, tender and perfectly spiced to go with their rice. Service was top notch. Lackluster service for the price point. 2 of the 4 entrees were not cooked properly, and when asking waitress and messaging how disappointing it was that half of our party's meals were wrong, she replied w arrogance and attitude that "Well, that's the kitchen's fault - not mine." When dishes returned to table they were basically thrown down with zero acknowledgment of "Sorry for the delay," or anything of the sort.
