Coming from Miami, Florida, I had a craving for Cuban cuisine. Myself and my awesome Niece who was treating me, decided to go to what was highly recommended as a well established Cuban restaurant. The atmosphere was inviting as well as the hostess. However, the waitress was not familiar with the menu, so much so that when I asked for breaded chicken breast she referred me to chicharon de Pollo as if that was breaded which is not, it is fried chicken. So instead I asked her Pollo en la plancha (grilled chicken breast) and she acted as if she didn't know what that was. So finally I decided on the chicken breast in a creamy garlic sauce with white rice and black beans and my niece asked for the Picadillo with white rice and black beans. The presentation was very nice. However, the white rice was burnt as if they had scraped the bottom of the pot, the beans were just black beans the Picadillo was very salty and the chicken was slices of chicken breast dipped in a garlic sauce which was a 4 out of 10. At the end of our meal, I asked for a Cuban coffee, the waitress tells me that they have coffee but she don't know if it comes from Cuba. I said WHAT! I asked her again and she says the same thing again. I had to tell her that it was the style of coffee not that the actual coffee comes from Cuba. She says she don't know what that is, yet I see that they have a large $2,000.00 expresso machine the same as the ones in Miami and Italian restaurants. I had to explain to her what the coffee is and how to make it. Well at the end of the day she made American coffee in an expresso cup, REALLY! My family ordered from this restaurant last night and spoke highly of it. I order pernil with Arroz con Guandules and wanted to try their CUBAN BLACK BEANS. We order other foods. But I will just talk about what I order, up to my family to decide if they wish to Yelped them. Lets begin that we order like 845pm and got our food say close to an hour later. That being said, NEVER NEVER order food after 8pm from latin restaurant that is about to close within 2 hours. So, my pernil was very greasy, the CUERO was soft. That means that my pernil was the last of the pernil which was swimming in OIL. My maduros were hard as rock and look like little, well I wont say the word. But not eatable. My rice was actually good. This leads us to the CUBAN BLACK BEANS. I actually did not taste them last night. I just left them alone. My moms cooked white rice and seasoned up and finished the pernil for me to eat. As she opened the container of CUBAN BLACK BEANS, she notice immediately that someone just opened a can of bean and heated it up and thru it in the container. She took a small bite and just threw it away. I kinda thought she would maybe just seasoned it up more and we could have ate, but she said that there was a French fry in it. I said no mom , no way, I believe it because in with the maduros, I found a French fry also. I never told her that. My family was not happy with their meal. Went here for Good Friday dinner with my bf. The place was packed when we walked in and decided to wait by the bar and have one appetizer while we waited for a table to open up. We got the ceviche. My bf loved it,but I thought it was just ok. It didn't taste authentic to me,but it wasn't a Peruvian restaurant so I didn't expect much. We got our table and it was a really bad one considering that my bf always throws the hostesses $20 when he goes there. We should of gotten a much better table,but oh well. Our server was very friendly and attentive which I liked. We got the mini crab cakes and baccalitos as apps. The crab cakes were good but the baccalaitos were all filler. For main course we shared the mahi-mahi. It was very dry. I didn't enjoy it. Tostones were good. I forgot what we got for dessert so I guess it wasn't memorable. In the past, I've dined in and the food was exceptional, so I was excited to order. I had my toddler granddaughter, so I ordered a meal for myself and something she could eat too. Because the food has been so good, the hour and a half wait time for delivery would have been worth it. However, because I had the baby, I knew I wouldn't be able to pick up my delivery, so I ordered from Grubhub, specifically noting to have the food delivered to my door (I live in an apartment building). On top of the delivery charge, I gave the delivery person an extra $10 tip (this brought my charges to $36). The delivery person called to tell me my food had been delivered so I excitedly and hurriedly made my way to my door. To my surprise there was no food. I called the delivery person and he stated that he doesn't deliver into apartment buildings !!! I then called the restaurant and they said their delivery person doesn't go into buildings . I'm not a lazy person AT ALL, I just couldn't leave to get the food... I was EXTREMELY disappointed to not get this food because I KNEW it was going to be good. I'm not sure this was a restaurant thing or a Grubhub thing. But, if deliveries are not taken to the door of apartment buildings (and I understand the safety issues), then it shouldn't be an option for consumers to choose. Apparently the VERY RUDE HOSTESS felt the need to tell the BURLY BOUNCER, to come and tell us to quiet down & wasn't nice or professional with his NASTY APPROACH!!!! REALLY that wasn't necessary. The HOSTESS seemed annoyed from the moment we walked in, SHE seemed to be having a bad day. So this is a new Havana cafe that is owned by the same Havana Cafe Located on E. Tremont. I really enjoy the one on E. Tremont but this one feels like a downgrade. It's not as big as the other Havana Cafe however the menu is the same and the food is good it just doesn't have the same feel. My only other complaint is that while my waiter was pretty good overall I waited for 2 burger orders for more than 45 min and they took my boyfriends drink before he was done with it. SUGGESTION: Please ask if the customer is done before removing anything from the table. I think I'll stick to the original Havana. read more

This place was not what I thought it would be. First and foremost upon being seated the waitress (Nicole) came to the table and asked if we wanted drinks we stated water was fine, two minutes later she comes back and asks if we are ready to order. I don't think anyone can look at a menu and decide what to order in such little time. She came back to our table two more times in very little time to see if we were ready to order and was hovering around our table. I felt as if we were being rushed to order. My husband told Nicole we both want the lechonito and my brother in law ordered his food. The food comes out and the bus boy bring me my plate and my brother in law his plate, after waiting ten minutes for my husbands plate we asked Nicole where his order is, her response was "you said you both want the lechonito so I thought you guys were going to share" my husband told her no we both wanted one for each. Instead of apologizing and offering to get him his food she says the same thing " well I thought you guys were going to share". My husband then orders the Cuban sandwich in hopes of receiving his food sooner , another 20 minute wait. My problem is as a waitress you should always make sure you have the customers order correct by repeating the order back and if you make a mistake acknowledge it. Nicole has the worst possible customer service, management needs to give her a orientation. A couple walked in and waited so long for someone to take their order that they just walked out. So I went for dinner and the restaurant was 1/3 full. The hostess was nice and so was the server. The drinks were good but inconsistent. The first round was weak and mostly juice. It may have been due to happy hour. The second round was STRONG. Now, my pet peeve while the restaurant was almost empty they were seating each party right next to each other. You could at least leave one table separating each party. Especially since again the restaurant was not full! Now for the food, it was good but I do agree it could be a hit or miss. The apps were ok and the steak entree was delicious as was the side dish. There seems to be trouble with lighting because it would get dim for a minute and then come back bright. Not sure if it was just staff trying to set the mood after dark. Honestly, there is nothing bad about the place but just don't like the vibe and miss the more spacious feel of the Fremont location. Having no reservation and planning to arrive during brunch(which is packed), they worked with me. They were realistic of the wait time and but again was willing to work with me. The manager Ashley was on point. Professional, hands on and very much customer orientated. We called ahead of time and upon arrival, our table was already waiting for us. I got an order of Montaditos.. which was an overpriced appetizer of $11 for TWO flavorless plantains with a table spoon of shredded steak on them... what a disappointment between the lack of flavor and the portion.. seriously 2?! With a garnish in the middle to give the illusion of a fuller plate... next the main course... oh my what a total waste of money.. the churasco almost $30 for this plate of steak with rice... HARD rice.. the rice was not even fully cooked on any of our plates.. 3 of us ordered this and all of us had uncooked rice.. and the only thing that tasted decent was the steak and probably because we got chimichurri sauce to put on it.. and when we spoke to the manager she took off just $5 from our plates meanwhile majority ate less than half of the dish.. Then I order my meal which was lamp chop, the waiter gave me some pork meat. I was really upset, he told me they don't have it at this location smfh. The only thing that I know is this place is picking up quickly because of the delicious food great service everybody's nice the family feel it's like when you're in there you feel like your somewhere else and that's the best thing about it but your still with your family compared to all the other restaurants on the strip and I love how security is how you feel safe and they're so nice to everyone they'll like big brothers and big sisters and everybody in there. They are, and easy to look at if you know what I mean so you need to go there check it out I don't have a Favorite because everything in there is delicious and you at least need to try one of everything so you know so trust me you'll be back and you will see me there again and again.
