It was like an under-flavored tuna poke. For my entree, I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak and eggs come with chimichurri sauce, caramelized onions, and yucca fries. Arrived for dinner, not terribly hungry so ended up on the tapas menu only. I enjoy Havana as I've gone a handful of times throughout the year. The food came out quick and so did drinks. Lots of the plates are similar to other Latin cuisines so you get variety. I'll break down the review in a few areas: Location: 5/5. It's got a convenient location with loads of nearby parking. We got a block away parking and walked over. Service: 5/5. From the front of the house to back, these staffers really support eachother. There are constant flows of workers checking tables, clearing plates and checking in on patrons. Ambiance: 4/5. It's a relax vibe inside the restaurant. There's a clear Cuban niche- from the eccentric colors and some of the art. I feel like decore can be taken up a notch in this restaurant. Drinks: 4/5. I wanted a pisco sour but they didn't carry it. While it's a Peruvian whiskey and not in the frame of Central American/Cuban feel, Pisco is still a great liquor to have. The pear jalapeño mojito was a great alternative! Food: 3/5. A few thoughts on app plates: Yucca Fries. The dipping sauces are Garlic Mojo and Cilantro Jalapeño. The Garlic Mojo is so similar to an Indian pani puri. Try it and see if you have a similar experience! (btw I enjoyed it ) Tostones were great! Scallops. A little citrus like a lemon squeeze would've been good for these. Also, more searing for a heartier bite would be great. Mojo Wings were good. Medianoche Cuban Sandwich. I feel like this needs to be served with a side of mustard as a standard. The sandwich was tasty. However, the layers would slip out with each bite. Perhaps restack the ingredients to make it have less slip. The bottom piece of bread was soft (seemed like it absorbed liquid during the press). Shrimp Ceviche. This was our least favorite. It was pico de gallo with shrimp to us. The shrimp lacked distinct flavor. Maybe I was expecting a South American style ceviche as I've never tried Cuban ceviche. Churros with chocolate dip were the best treat. Even if you don't have room, get them! I wish this was served with a little vanilla bean ice cream to make this a Trifecta Treat! I will def be back again! read more

Visited Havana on a Saturday for brunch . Upon arrival I noticed the parking is scarce. It took me 20 minutes to find parking and still ended up getting a parking ticket. Once inside the staff are welcoming, patient, and helpful. This was our first time here so , Our waiter suggested some dishes for us . We had the chicken Chilaquiles it was very tasty but gets soggy fast . We also had the chickens wings , they were so good we ordered more mid meal. We ordered the yucca fries which I felt was bland and flavorless . Everything else was really good . Now to the star of the show bottomless mojitos. I did a huge birthday brunch reservation here and everyone had such a great time. The staff were accommodating and super nice, as people trickled in during our reservation time. The food and drinks were amazing! I had the ropa vieja with poblano hash that was so clearly marinated and stewed for all that rich flavor. Get the habanero hot sauce on the side too! It's slightly sweet but packs heat. Also the drinks are wild. Who does bottomless mojitos?! This spot does and it's only 23 bucks, and you can choose from regular or two flavors of the day. Each bite was so refreshing and light with the combo of sweet and savory. My main course was the Ropa Vieja which consists of braised brisket with onions, tomato and peppers, Sofrito rice (mhmmmmm!), Cuban black beans and plantain maduros. This dish could have easily fed two people by the service size. The brisket was melt in your mouth delicious. The Sofrito rice, tasty tasty tasty. The beans, cooked and seasoned perfectly. I would recommend this dish all day every day. 5/5!!!!! The cutest spot in Walnut Creek. Adorable. Came in last night for my friends birthday with a group of girls. Our sever was Austin who was on top of it. Our food came out perfectly and so fast. I had the Cuban sandwich and it was delicious. I also tried one of the empanadas and plantains and it was amazing. I had a regular mojito that was so good and one of the spicy pear ones delicious!!!! The entire place is so cute very aesthetically pleasurable pleasing. This was my second time visiting Havana, this time was for brunch. I saw an instagram post about their new brunch menu with bottomless mimosas or mojitos and knew I needed to try it out. It's located in a nice area of Walnut Creek walking distance to the outdoor shopping. Bottomless mojitos: absolutely amazing. Sometimes you don't get quality with bottomless drinks, but I was highly impressed with the taste and the quick service. They had original, guava, and speciality flavor of the day. I tried them all, but loved the guava the best. The bottomless option is $23 which is hard to beat for unlimited cocktails. Your group will have a 90 minute limit which they do enforce since it can get busy, but it was plenty of time with fast service. Food: I ordered the chilaquiles which either comes with green or red sauce. I opted for green and I would rate it a 7/10. I prefer more sauce and felt like they were a little dry. The show stopper was the plantain French toast. 10/10 recommend the French toast. My group of 4 arrived around opening time because we were worried we didn't have a reservation. We were sat right away at a high top, but were told most of the restaurant was reserved for later guests. I think the restaurant picks up in the later morning, but the whole time we were there, many seats were still open. I highly recommend their brunch and I hope to be back soon to try more delicious things off the menu!! read more

Had such a great birthday dinner here. We had the scallops, lamb chops, and cubano sandwich. All were delicious but my favorite is the scallops hands down. So good I didn't even get a pic before digging in. Lamb chops also amazing--cooked perfectly and tender and flavorful. Can't go wrong with a cubano sandwich and theirs is really really good on toasty chewy bread and pickles and cheese and meat. Yum. Only miss was the dessert très lèches cake--a little dry for my liking. Will def be back and would maybe order all the same entrees. Server was friendly and attentive. We had a fabulous New Years Eve dinner here. Started off with mojitos ~ so many interesting flavors to try! The mojo wings and plantain crusted cod were delicious (and perfectly cooked) and the flan wrapped up our meal perfectly. Thanks to the hostess, Mia and Jeff for taking excellent care of us. They have a chill little bar, a TV with sports, and a chill vibe ambiance. Pro tip: of you have your own nice wine, it's only $20 corkage fee. The food was freaking amazing. We shared dishes so had the opportunity to try a lot. Mango spinach salad was delicious and I am not a salad person. Perfect dressing. Smithers appetizer was the crispy wings in a sweet and spicy sauce. So good. But the best appetizer was the lamb lollipops. You'll love them. Paella was tasty. It's the mushy type, as opposed to the type that is crispy and sticks to the pan. Get the seafood/meat one. We also had the veggie one which wasn't quite as good. Ropa vieja is braised brisket probably cooked in a pressure cooker or clay pot till it's nice and soft. Paired with rice and plantains. Delectable. But the best shoes was the chimichuri shirt steak. Oh. My. Goodness. I probably could have eaten 3 plates of just this. And it comes with a mash of some type which is about 3x tastier than mashed potatoes. The icing one the cake was the excellent flavorful food as well. Each dish we ordered was cooked and seasoned well. We had one small issue with the beans, we felt they were a tad bit undercooked. We weren't so hungry, so we ordered a one paella and one lamb chops to share. Lamb chops were great, but nothing impressive. It's a small size appetizer. I personally like gamey flavors of lamb, but this was very light in that and more of those charred grilled flavors. I think the chimichuri sauce can be more herby and fun. It was too generic in my taste. Paella was okay. Kind of what you'd expect. Salty and savory. I wish the cumin or other spices tasted stronger. Love Havana! I made reservations in advance to eat here for the second time. The first time I visited, I took my son who absolutely loved the food. This place, of course is located in the side of Walnut Creek near plenty of places to eat. This happens to be one of my favorite ones. This also means, good luck finding parking. It took us awhile to find parking but we were able to find paid street parking around the block. It's a small restaurant but very lively. Loved the decor the most. The host sat us quickly and the waiter immediately asked us if we wanted drinks. I ordered a pineapple martini. I can't remember which cocktail my boyfriend ordered, but I just remember it tasting very strong. For appetizers, I ordered the Day Boat Scallops and Croquettes. Both were delicious. For dinner, I ordered the Paella and my boyfriend ordered the Ropa Vieja. Everything on our table was delicious. Overall service, food, and ambiance was excellent. Definitely recommend making a reservation because by the time we left, there was a line outside. Food was flavorful.
