Coming from Las Vegas which has one of the, if not the largest populations of Hawaiians outside of Hawaii, and probably 50 or more Hawaiian restaurants, I was hoping this would be really good seeing as options are limited. Now I wouldn't rate it as phenomenal, but still give a solid 4. I would like to see more menu items, like spam musubi, chicken katsu, and saimen. But beef was flavored well. The food is good, IMO. I never really have issues with the food. But they suck at answering the phones. I called 4 times today (nee years day, wanted to see if they were open), no answer. Call the west salem store, they answer immediately. They say that they are open, could just be to busy to answer the phone. I go ther, theres 3 people eating. I called, while in store, and listen to the phone ring the whole time. Nobody even looks at it. Then 2 other people call, probably not in store... still not even a glance. This place is run by kids and it shows. Food is good, people are nice, but the operation sucks. read more

Review would be three and a half but where in this town do you get any variety in Hawaiian cuisine. I love pulled pork and I like the macaroni as well. My bf gets the teriyaki chicken sandwich sometimes they make it to saucy for him. It's really nothing fancy served in styrofoam but good. If you've been to Hawaii some of the super touristy places are probably less impressive than Hawaiian time. read more

First time here, and not impressed at all. Walked into a nearly empty space with no greeting at all from the hostess/cashier. Had to ask for menus only to be disappointed by the limited offerings. The food was just okay, nothing to make me return. Dissapointed. read more

There is no way to actually get in touch with "management" of these places. My wife and I both got food poisoning after eating there the evening of 6/30/14 and spent over half of the next day in the bathroom. The little twit they had working as a cashier sealed the deal on me never returning to a Hawaiian Time. But, find somebody to talk to about this. Good luck. read more

Not as good as the west Salem or Eugene locations. Food is nearly the same but just isn't on par to how good the other locations are in comparison. Mona loa chicken has a thicker sauce, this was more of a thin siracha teriyaki. But this small chain is still a favorite of mine. read more

I really enjoy Hawaiian time, especially the SE one (service is better). The chicken and beef options are tasty, with a wonderful authentic sauce/flavor that I admit to jonesing for. Their pasta salad is also great. I will admit that they give me a bit more rice than I need, but I get all the meat and tasties that I can enjoy, so I can't complain. I have gone here several times for lunch. The chicken (I have tried them all) dishes are very good. The best macaroni salad I have ever had. One time I ordered a pork sandwich & it was so salty I could barely eat it. Portions are very generous, great condiments, clean facility & rest rooms, friendly staff & consistently dependable service. Teriyaki sauce is very tasty. Love the sticky rice. read more

I will admit that I go to the West Salem location more regularly, because it's closer, though I like it less, which is why I am voting here.The staff in West seems to be a bit slow and cluleess, and messes up my order a lot. But the staff here is great. Friendly. The food is quick and great. Maybe a little more rice than i need, but it's great tasting Hawaiian food in Salem. Certainly no Local Boys (in Corvallis) but there are few places that good...and this is a fine substitute. Fast and tasty. read more

I typically really enjoy Hawaiian Time. This is my first time at this particular location, the girl working the front counter was less then plesant. This also happens to be the first time I have tried the pulled pork. I will never be eating it again. My food came out less then even warm, and the pork has no flavor. The food at Hawaiian Time is amazing. Now first off if you have never eaten there, you are missing out! Hawaiian Time is not fast food or "fancy". Despite either of those it's probably one of my favorite restaurants. Hawaiian Time makes some of the best food i have ever had. They have mostly beef and chicken type meals. My favorite thing they make is macaroni salad. It is to die for, absolutely delicious and simple. I would sit there and binge eat it if i could. Hawaiian Time has a variation of chicken and beef. My favorite is the Honolulu plate. That consists of "special thin sliced beef, marinated in korean style sauce and grilled to perfection". Now something pretty cool, but nothing to special, at hawaiian time is the plates. The plates are to go boxes. This may sound like a buffet but you actually just order a certain dish. Not the foam to go boxes like most restaurants have. The boxes are made out of like a thin white plastic. They are square and depending on the size you get, is divided into three sections. The nice thing is, if you're full you don't have to ask for boxes. Another nice thing is if you want to eat there you can, if you want to eat at home, you also have that option. I haven't eaten at every Hawaiian Time ever built. That being said, I have been to quite a few of their restaurants. Every Hawaiian Time restaurant I have ever eaten at at, the employee's have been very friendly. The workers get you your food as soon as possible. They also have a sense of humor. A lot of restaurant employees have no sense of humor. The employees at Hawaiian Time give good interaction. With that I definitely approve of their employees. So all in all, i would say Hawaiian Time is very good. I definitely would rate them in my favorites. They have delicious food! Very good customer service! If you want to hear about high school drama as you order your food. Be told, you're wrong. Watch employees either dance or lounging around the area you eat. Then this is the place to go. My wife and I decided to try this restaurant out for a quick bite. As we were ordering our food the two employees were chatting about their high school boyfriends. Did not bother us much until, we received our meals. We ordered a pull pork sandwich, beef with vegetables and couple drinks. When I was given my food, I opened the plastic container to find no pull pork sandwich. My wife asked, where's the bun. First thought, I received the wrong order. I tell the employee who took the order, I think my meal is incorrect. She looked at me like I was an idiot and said no it's not you ordered a number 4. I explained, no. I ordered a pull pork sandwich, maybe you misheard me. The employee reaches for a trash bin under the counter. Pulls out a receipt then states, see number 4(keep in mind she never washed her hands afterwards but kept assisting customers and handling out food). I tell the employee but it's not what I ordered. You misheard me. She then points out the receipt again. I eventually gave up, sat down to eat. Then to witness an employee dancing around and another lounging with legs spread out on chairs flirting with the dancer. The customer service is horrible, and very unprofessional. The food was decent. But I will not step into another Hawaiian Time for a long time. read more

My boyfriend and I just ate there. We both feel sick now. Almost instantly. Also the place seemed to be runned by teenagers. If you ask me it makes sense that they wouldn't have food safety standers meet. The cashier didn't even speak to us at register. And left us standing there for a few minute. Then you could hardly hear her when she did finally acknowledge us. No eye contact.. Rude customer service. Then she got our order wrong. I ordered chicken not beef. I think they needed proper supervision and drug test in there. We will not be going there again. I have eaten at other hawaiian times and enjoyed the Experience. Not this one in salem Off mission.
