Really enjoyed this place! I had the Denver omelette with hash browns and it was very well seasoned. My kids had a bacon breakfast burrito and waffles. Haymaker Peoria is one of my Sunday morning hangouts where breakfast is served all day. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, I find the food fare is always tempting, and while I give them kudos for their signature Haymaker Benedict, their Classic Benedict is equally as good, and they don't seem to mind when I ask for my eggs scrambled. Let's say unfortunately and fortunately the pork dish I had with eggs was DRY AND TASTELESS. My husbands chicken fried steak and gravy good. Both dishes could of been warmer. We waited 45 minutes for our food and drank our mimosas ( flight ) before food came. The manager polite and the waitress was wonderful!! We visited Haymaker in Peoria last Thursday. We both ordered the fish and chips dinner. Service was slow and when the order finally came the fish was way over cooked. The batter on the fish was hard as a rock, the cole slaw portion was reduced to the size of a ping pong ball and the fries were barely warm. The fish was dry and had no taste. I've had great experiences while eating there. Food was good, service can be a little slow...but hey it's always busy, so I get that. My problem comes from the takeout service. I've ordered three meals from them over the past couple of months due to Covid-19. I've liked the deals they have on their to go menu. But I've been short changed 2 out of the 3 times. On the first occasion they left out an entire meal for my daughter. Luckily my wife checked and went back in before they got too far down the road. This past time I ordered the family bbq meal. It was missing the pulled pork, rolls and the coleslaw. They did add some soggy broccoli instead...to be fair. So I guess learn from my mistakes and check it before you leave. When thinking of my experience here and wishing I wrote it sooner since it's been a week since I've been here, I smile. My hubby and I had a great time during happy hour here. We sat in the bar area and watched Monday night football while our friendly bartender, Christian, always made sure our mason jars were full. Yes, most drinks are served in mason jars, beers included. However, even with the nice array of craft beers on tap, we couldn't help but notice their whiskey selections. I ordered two whiskey cocktails, the South Paw and the Bird Dog peach Whiskey lemonade drinks, and they definitely packed a punch! They even serve moonshine cocktails as well. Joey, the owner, (at least I think that's what his name was - it's hard to remember after having so many good cocktails - in a good way), was very well knowledgable about his whiskeys and is pondering doing whiskey flights at some point. He is very friendly and loves to hear what patrons of his restaurant have to say. The bread pudding is out of this world good!! It'll have you dreaming of more once you leave so make sure you order this if nothing else. Wings were good. I would order them spicy to get an extra kick because obviously mild just won't cut it. I personally also enjoyed the full rack of ribs which were pretty tasty compared to the country fried chicken. The country fried chicken was tender, juicy, and really good but I expected it to be more like the unhealthy but decadent thick breading type that you'd get at LoLo's or Cracker Barrel and not the light breading that you'd find on chicken that's.. Well healthier. But it's covered in a queso sauce of some sort with diced peppers and other southwestern seasonings that made it enjoyable. Attended a casual pre wedding dinner for one of our pastors. The food was great and the room was perfect for 20 people or possible more. The servers dedicated to that room were always there asking what we might need and filling our glasses over and over as we celebrated Pastor Ross' get together. Just moved from CA to AZ about a 6 weeks ago. We've been to this restaurant 3 times during the last month. We have enjoyed most of our meals and we will return. However, I cannot recommend the rib dinner. I was disappointed since this is supposed to be a barbecue place. My ribs were overcooked and very dry. Wifey started off with the cinnamon roll which she liked but I wasn't a huge fan of. I had the Tipsy Pigy which was excellent. My husband tasted my French Dip and said I should eat his burger because the French Dip wasn't too good. I tried a piece of beef and it was very chewy and reminded me of shoe leather. Some of the beef wasn't edible because it was like rubber and cut the wrong way with the grain instead of against it but they did take the time to add onions and mushrooms to it. The Bread was some kind of squishy bread that seemed like a relative of a hot dog roll and my sweet potato fries were very squishy and just warm. Maybe it just wasn't the best day for a French Dip or sweet potato fries. My husband's Burger was OK! The burger was cooked medium the cheese was melted and the roll was fresh. The fries on this plate were fresh and crisp. The green chile on the burger was cold and would have been better if it was warm but still the burger was OK. No it wasn't the best burger but it was OK. The menu is very basic or uninspired depending on your take of it. This is a family friendly kind of place and is budget priced. It's the kind of place I might take my nieces or nephews too instead of Burger King and also my older relatives that don't like anything ethnic because of the kind of food and prices but I wouldn't ever think of getting a French Dip again. 2.5 Stars Rounded UP to three stars because the burger was OK. read more

This is my fourth time here and my third for breakfast. It's an interesting place. The first time we came, it was kind of meh, but I have to say that since then, it's really improved. It's our favorite local spot - we can roll out of bed and basically be here. The coffee is pretty good. The hollandaise is delicious. The hashbrowns are tasty. Love this place for so many reasons. Let's start with the advice and of course our fave manager Ryan (look for the guy in the polo shirt that looks like Darius Rucker). Breakfast is great here. They cool all to order and are pretty darn quick to turn the food out. If you come here often they have a regards program. It's simple, $5 off every $100 you spend, $25 off when you get to $500. Weekends get crowded here so beat the church crowd before 9:00 am or try after 11:00 for lunch. Try the breakfast sandwich or lunch try the pulled pork. Both very good options. So Jenna was our waitress she is a cute spunky little blonde from Texas friendly caring and very thoughtful. The food on the other hand has a lot to be desired . So the Orange cinnamon roll I had the icing was absolutely great and the cinnamon roll itself was garbage it was hard on the bottom it wasn't heated up properly seemed like they microwaved it said a steamed it's gross. The menu really does have a lot of good options I should have ordered something than what I did it was all plain Mikey at a Denny's which is even more gross. I don't know where to start. yuck. unfortunately, this is a restaurant so you'd want the food to be at least ok. it's not ok. I ordered the California chicken salad. I wasn't brave enough to bite into the chicken after my first bite so can't speak to that. I thought I was biting into pecan, feta and some sort of lettuce. as I bit down, there was a loud hard crunch, texture reminded me of bone. it was tiny bits of something that's clearly not edible and wouldnt break down. I didn't have enough napkin to spit it out in (you know, the flimsy brown napkins u get from fast food). the lettuce was dirty and wet. all around gross. it looks like a dive when you walk in, but some dives have really good food.... this isn't one of them. My wife and I have been wanting to try this place since we moved into the area. It always seemed to be packed so we have put it off for a while. We decided to try it out one night while we didn't have the kids. We walked in and we were both pleasantly surprised at the inside. After reading some of the reviews on here, we expected more of a sports bar type of atmosphere. We were pretty blown away by the interior decor. It was both of our styles. Even though the parking lot was packed, there were still plenty of tables inside. We weren't really starving as we had just come for a movie and some popcorn. My wife got a half bit pastrami and cup of potato soup and I got the Monterey chicken sandwich. Both sandwiches were really good and the soup had great taste and was really creamy. The only thing that I can really say was a negative(this is going to sound strange) was that there was too much chicken on the sandwich. The breast was HUGE. It seems like they took a breast and butterflied it open to make it less thick and bigger. It just covered a lot of ground and filled me up quick. We finished off the night with some bread pudding. They don't have many options when it comes to dessert but this was really good. The pudding and the ice cream went great together. We will definitely be back here as we have heard that their breakfast is really good. We may also come back on a Wednesday or Sunday since kids eat free with a paid adult. read more
