Haymaker's food is consistently good. We enjoy stopping in for breakfast. The one thing that I will say is that the younger hostess staff needs serious instruction on how to provide basic customer service. The past three times we've been in we've approached the host counter and the hosts do not make eye contact, don't greet you, but will mumble back and forth between each other without even acknowledging your presence. I don't think my standards are unreasonably high. A simple smile or welcome or even a "thank you for coming in, we will be right with you," goes a long way. We have even encountered a couple instances of miscommunication between the staff on which party was up to be seated during a busy morning and instead of offering an apology they will bicker with each other on whose fault it was. The lack of professionalism and friendliness from the hosts and hostesses is somewhat off putting and we've decided on other restaurants in the area for this reason alone. read more

This is a fabulous little spot in our new neighborhood and we love stopping in here! We came in after our final walkthrough on our house and I fell in love! We have never been there when it is exceptionally busy so we have always been greeted and seated at a table immediately. The decor on the inside is really homey and makes you feel very welcome. I will say, both trips we have made here I have ordered the same thing so I can't give a good review for different meals but what I have tried, I absolutely love. I normally order the biscuits gravy which for me, is hard to find a good restaurant that does it right. Haymaker definitely does it right! If you are a fan of this dish, I highly recommend! I also normally always get the bacon Bloody Mary. Can't go wrong with this bloody because the bacon is always a nice touch! We accidentally found this place and wanted some BBQ. Hubby and I both ordered Piggy Platters because they came with ribs. All I wanted was ribs and hubby wanted the brisket, pulled pork and chicken. Sounds perfect, right? Nope! The waitress (Karlie) brought out two huge platters of food and said "we are out of ribs so I had them add extra brisket"...What??? Are you even going to ask me if that's ok? All I wanted was ribs and they didn't have any. WHY wouldn't someone tell me that they were out of ribs so I could order something else instead? She literally brought food that I won't eat. Ribs should have been on that order, OR, I should have been told that they were out. We spent $67 and I'm so disappointed. Common sense: If you are out of a food product, let the people know ahead of time. A friend and I went for breakfast on a Saturday, right at 7 when they opened. We were in a booth near the bar area. Coffee was hot and fresh, and my cup was never empty. I ordered the buckwheat pancakes and made it a griddle breakfast, with scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. The sausage patty had good flavor and eggs were fluffy. The Haymaker Peoria is a traditional American bar and restaurant nestled in suburban Phoenix. Their location in Peoria is in the middle of a large strip mall with lots of parking. The interior belies the basic exterior with a modern country decor with lots of seating and many televisions. We chose to sit at the bar, but were able to experience the full menu. Service was a little slow, however we were able to get our drinks and food with only a little effort. Haymaker has a large selection of whisky, and my college friend and I sampled quite a few. My Manhattan and whisky flight were well appreciated. We chose the fried pickles and country fried steak for dinner which were decent but lacked the richness of a classic dish. Overall, The Haymaker Peoria is a good option in the suburbs but lacks that something special to really stand out above the crowd. I love traditional American dishes and wish them the best to promote these classics. read more

Went in for brunch today with the family for the first time. The restaurant is nice with a few TVs, bar, and rustic decor. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day long and have a great happy hour menu. Tons of food to choose from. Be a great place for game day! $3 mimosas and bloody Mary's for weekend brunch. Our server was Krystal and she was fantastic. Very nice, prompt service, and helped recommend items from the menu. I got the senior(small) bbq chicken salad. It was huge for a small and was very tasty with a ton of flavor. I also got a cup of chili that was rich and delicious. My husband got the haymaker Benedict that was huge but he loved it! The chicken was crisp and was smothered with a chipotle cream sauce. Overall everything was really good from the service to the food. Excited to come back to try more things. Busy during breakfast, but worth waiting for. Try the chicken and waffles... ...........!!!!!

I am beyond appalled with this restaurant. I ordered on Uber Eats, Southern Pork Benedict for myself and a cinnamon roll with a side of bacon for my wife. Upon receiving the order, I realized that the sausage gravy for my dish was missing. Dry flaky biscuits that are normally great with gravy are rendered completely inedible without a sauce preventing your palette from drying out. It's like eating sand without the gravy. I called and simply asked to have the gravy sent out, shouldn't have been a problem. I run multiple restaurants in Los Angeles and Orange County, CA and use Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Postmates. With Uber Eats you have TWO options to resend missing items, you can call the merchant support line or use the Uber Eats Manager and chat with a service rep to redeliver missing items. I was told since the restaurant uses third parties there is no way for them to send the missing item, instead they said they'd take my name and number and give me credit for the gravy if I ever come in. That does nothing to remedy the fact I currently have nothing to eat and will now have to order from some other restaurant and wait at least another hour. The other option would be taking a 45 minute round trip for a side of gravy, which if I or my wife went would be about $250 worth of our time. I will not give this location a chance for me to increase this rating as it is a complete failure at multiple levels. First, that order never should've went out without a key item. It should have been checked multiple times for accuracy each step of the way, from the kitchen staff ensuring all items are included to the person packing the order checking to see all items are present before sending it out. Secondly, the fact your managers don't know it takes quite literally 2 mins to remedy the issue by calling Uber Eats, giving them the restaurant account number and the order number, and having them send a driver to deliver the missing item. Whoever runs this location needs to shut down for a day and train your staff because this in beyond unacceptable, I would not tolerate any of my employees failing to do the basics of their job. read more

I have been a customer for many, many years. This used to be my fav for happy hour and catering. Now it's on the bottom of my list. Prices have increased, quality of food has declined, and portions were reduced. The turnover for bartenders is high. They now offer Seagrams as their house tonic water. After ordering a gin and tonic and complaining about the poor taste, server attitude was sorry too bad. Didn't even offer a discount or to take the drink off our bill. I've given this place plenty of chances. Food never seems to be that great. Ordered take out tonight - bbq chicken salad, southwest chicken salad and fried zucchini, also asked for extra dressing for the salads. There was no bbq sauce for the BBQ chicken salad, there was no chipotle ranch for the southwest chicken salad LOL. They gave some vinaigrette instead. Didn't have time to check my order there since parking was crazy and I had to jump out of the car to get the order while my fiancé circled around the parking lot. Only reason why this place is so crowded is because there are no other options to eat around here...except Chili's.
