The Pros. It's cute and nicely decorated. The service was wonderful, polite and quick. I went alone and they were just as friendly as if I were with a group. The food is tasty and I was able to get an entire no carb meal and breakfast is served all day Saturday (I think that's still true). The serving size actually worked for me but more in that in the con side. I was able to cleaned mu plate though. Oh and the cook did my "very little cheese" perfectly! Not too much. Not too little (lactose intolerant and all). The cons. It's over priced for what you get and in my opinion a little pretentious for what they serve. No way are there 3 eggs in the omelette. I can't finish a 2 egg omelette anywhere else. I ate every bite of theirs. The bacon was cheap and thin and over cooked (but I will eat bacon at any level of doneness because that's how I roll). Others complain about the fact you get potato OR bread. I skipped them both and had the fruit which is fresh (that should be on the pro side). Do not get me wrong it's tasty I just expected more quality wise when I walked in the door. read more

There was no wait which was great, we were the youngest people in there by about a decade which still fine. Service was a little slow and wouldn't care except I really needed some coffee. Food was not seasoned well, the gravy was watery, the eggs over done. It might have been an off day but I don't think we will be back to see. Everyone else in there seems pretty happy. read more

I met two girlfriends for lunch on a Saturday. This place is huge, and there were not a lot of lunch diners. On the other hand, it was nearly 1 p.m. Our server was on another planet. He had to return to the kitchen to see what soups were available and another time to see what quiches were available. He was ill-prepared. BTW, breakfast is served all day Saturday and Sunday. My girlfriends both got one of the special quiche selections offered ($6.89), and both chose fruit as the side. Soup or salad also were offered as a side. I got Eggs Benedict ($6.99), which comes with hash browns. The food was very good. But the quiche slices were quite stingy. Plus, being served on a huge white plate made them look entirely Lilliputian. The fruit was served in a small bowl on the plate. It was an adequate portion and looked quite fresh. Both of them enjoyed their food, but were perturbed with the service. The Eggs Benedict was tremendous, well-balanced flavors that blended nicely. I concentrated on the potatoes, because they don't reheat well. They were good with plenty of crunchy pieces. Doing that, I took half my Eggs Benedict home for dinner. During our meal, a workman came into the dining room with a ladder, took something off the wall way up high, then used glass cleaner on the spot. The odor overpowered the dining room and gave me a sneezing fit. Then we heard some hammer action coming from somewhere in the back. Can't you do these maintenance (or whatever) things another time? All-in-all, a mixed first experience at Hearth Room Café. Add to that the fact that we were rather scurried out, because our server was going off-shift. The MIA server, disparate serving sizes, maintenance work performed during our meal and being hustled out weighed against great food and prices leave me scratching my head. read more

My girlfriend and I tried this place out because it was on Groupon and also because we frequent Whole Foods and Target right across the street. We went in for breakfast. She got the French toast breakfast and I got the Belgian waffle one. The waffles tasted so, so good, as did the eggs and sausage that I had. Although, one complaint that I have and suggestion for the owners is to give warm syrup instead of room temperature syrup. Tastes much better. They do an interesting and delicious choice for the French toast, in that they opt for cinnamon bread. The French toast is seriously to die for. Atmosphere is very nice and inviting and the staff was very nice. Prices were extremely good as well. Ended up with a bill under $20 for the two of us. Not bad at all for how good the food was. The expression "a hidden gem" is overused in my opinion but it really fits here. This place is hidden, and its a gem. The shopping plaza "Lamp & Lantern" has an adorable courtyard area hidden behind the larger parking lot that has several little shops, offices and a darling little cafe that serves breakfast and brunch; Heath Room Cafe. Like any decent breakfast place this restaurant was teeming with octogenarians, young families and couples waiting for a table this past Sunday morning. After a brief wait we were seated in the gorgeously decorated dining room right by the hearth that lends this charming cafe its name. I had an egg white omelet with turkey sausage, spinach and red peppers. For being off the light menu it had a lot of oil used in the preparation but otherwise it was tasty. If I wasn't trying to eat healthy I would have definitely had the french toast because it was calling my name. Big thick slices of bread with fruit embelishing it...Maybe next time... I was introduced to this cute cafe when I attend a bridal shower last weekend. The shower had the private room rented out, which had its own entrance, its own bathroom and its own cute charm. The staff was very attentive, making sure to get our drink orders as we walked in and started socializing. We were given a 2 course meal for the shower. The salad was an orange almond salad topped with toasted spiced almonds, mandarin oranges and a homemade crouton. We had 3 choices for the main course, I picked the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich which was served with fresh fruit. Quite delish and filling! Dessert was wedding cake provided by the hosts, and cut by the staff which helped out tremendously. I think this would be a great place to visit with the girls in the future or to have another party at. Great all around! read more

I really don't like it when a restaurant doesn't seem to know what it wants to be! It is called the Hearth Room Cafe and they do have a huge fireplace. The decor is a bit confusing. There are pictures of gondola's on the wall, some Tuscan colors with iron artwork and Old World furniture including a rooster. The oriental black chairs sit with tables that are covered in naugahyde cloths clad with cream, jelly, salt, pepper, sugar, sweet and low, and maple syrup dispenser, giving it a diner/tearoom feel. A rattan desk sits in the dining room adorned with a computer. The fans swaying above offer a Bahama feel, while classical music fills your ears. It is 1:45 on a Saturday. I mention all this, as it being my first time here , I do not know what they specialize in. . Looking over the menu gives me no clue with helping me indentify who they want to be either. French Onion Soup, Greek Salad, Cesar Salad, breakfasts typical of a diner, American Sandwiches. Nothing Italian or Asian, then why the decor? They did have a special on the menu called Chicken Salad Pie. I ordered it. It was hot chicken salad in a pie crust with melted cheese served in a very small ramiken. $7.49 served with small fruit cup. I also ordered a side Greek Salad. My husband had the Roast Beef dip w/au jus and side potato chips $6.49. The dip had an odd flavor and was quite small. Our server commented he was new and nervous but had he not mentioned it we would not have known. He was very nice. We left every bit as confused as we came in! read more

While looking for a place that serves brunch on Saturday, I came across this place while browsing Yelp. Given it's close proximity and seemingly OK reviews, hubby and I decided to check it out. We went around 1PM on a Saturday and were slightly dismayed to find the restaurant pretty empty. There was a table of 4 "grandmothers" playing cards, and an elderly gentleman eating on his own. Hubby ordered the eggs benedict and I had pancakes. The food was OK...nothing we couldn't have accomplished at home. Our waitress was very attentive. Breakfast Yum tucked away in the middle of Lamp & Lantern Village. Ended up here because Einstein's was ridiculous - who waits in that kind of line for a bagel?! Its a bagel people, get a grip! Anyway, I digress... Reasonably priced breakfast items and lots of combo's to choose from. No hash browns, which is always a let down for Teen 1 and I. That said, their home fries are better than most. Bacon was crispy and generous portions were served (YAY - lots of bacon!) Everything else was good. The server was really nice and had a really laid-back, sort of surfer dude vibe. Wasn't sure how that was going to go but he did a great job and also made some recommendations that we liked. The real standout here for me was the coffee. I asked if they had iced coffee drinks; he said no but suggested that we try their regular coffee over ice because he really likes it. Okay. This was the best thing I had there; Teen 1 liked mine so well that she also ordered one. I can't remember the brand of coffee, but it was nothing I had heard of before. I sucked down two of them and so did Teen 1. Oh, and the best part was that he just charged us for regular coffee. This would have been $20 worth of coffee at some places. So it's Mother's Day and we decided to grab some breakfast before getting some errands done. I found this place on Yelp and decided to call first to make sure they were open. Good decision! Not only were they open, but they were reservation only and serving Mother's Day buffet. The young lady who answered asked me hold for a second to see if she could squeeze us in for a reservation. A moment later, the owner(? Kat ?) answered and asked a couple questions, and was able to squeeze us in!! Let me just put it this way: the food is FANTASTIC! Everything was excellent and freshly made, from the hash browns to eggs Benedict to the cheese blitzes! Combine that the excellent service and last-minute accommodations and this place gets 5 stars!! Lived in Chesterfield my whole life and just found this hidden gem! A nice breakfast/ladies lunch spot with a fabulous Key West Omelet! Fresh avocado, bacon and havarti cheese- yes, please... with your choice of fruit, potatoes or bread. We will be back to try their lunch. They have nice rooms for group gatherings as a Shower was going on in the Parlor room while we were there- but Trish our server was sweet, funny and attentive to all our needs! I was looking for a cute little café to do breakfast with my girlfriends. I had the idea to ask my bridal party via a desert plate with writing on it to be my bridesmaids. I found the Hearth Room Café on yelp and after reading some mixed reviews and looking at their website I felt I would give it a try to meet with them and to see if they would be interested in helping me follow through with my idea. I originally met with the manager who was so nice about everything and brought the onsite baker out to talk with me and develop my idea. She was very detailed about it all and they turned out so much better than I had imagined in my head. The day I brought the girls in the staff was very attentive, the food was fantastic and the surprise turned out wonderful!! I will definitely keep the Hearth Room in mind for my bridal shower and future brunch outings!! read more

Had breakfast here today in a party of four. It was a painful experience. Was seated in back and waited well over 25 minutes before our order was taken. Was told there was "a mixup as to who waited our table". Once food came we had to wait for utensils although on 3 separate occasions we asked for them. Was served one cup of coffee which I finished long before food came. Finally got a refill after finished eating and about ready to go. Food was warm not hot. Saw others going to the manager asking for services too. I might still be there if I had not asked for his intervention. I normally enjoy eating any meal here but I've noticed that when they get crowded such as today there are issues. Why fill your restaurant if you cannot provide consistent service???? My boyfriend, baby and I stopped in here this morning and were very pleased! The decor was warm and country-cute. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. I discovered this little gem last week with a coworker. It's a cozy, cute restaurant with a great fireplace (hence the name). We noticed we were the youngest people in the place by about 40 years, so we were a little nervous. No need to be. The menu had a lot of very interesting choices on it, at great prices to boot. I had the Greek Chicken sandwich with their homemade chips, both of which were excellent. My coworker had the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich, also with chips, and she had nothing but good things to say about it. We will definitely be back for more! read more
