i REALLY wanted to like this place but sadly this was not it. my fiance and i stopped by here since we frequent this 99 Ranch for our groceries and wanted to see what the hype was about. we ordered the orange orchid green tea and thank goodness we only ordered one drink to share between us because this was SO watered down and absolutely disgusting (top 3 most disgusting teas i have had). the floral taste from the orchid didn't make sense with the drink and left an awful pungent aftertaste with each sip that ruined the entire drink. the drink also came out to $7 after taxes which is insane given that the drink basically came out pre-made and so watered down. i should've just thrown it away after the first sip lol. skip this place and just spend the same amount of money down the street at chi cha san chen - at least you know your drink will be freshly brewed and will taste so much better! read more

I saw a lot of reviews stating that the drinks are watered down. I think they need to state what ice level they are getting because the drinks are a bit bland with 70% ice. Tried several drinks and after a bit of trial and error I personally would only get 30% ice for their drinks. Additionally I feel like the drinks aren't as heavy and are refreshing. Osmanthus oolong tea latte with osmanthus oolong tea jelly - 70% ice and S3 sugar level. The drink has a very light osmanthus taste but the tea is a bit lacking. It is a more floral than tea drink. Would not get this in 70% ice if I were to try it again. Divine awakening tea latte with sesame jelly- nice combo of two different types of tea. It's definitely stronger of all their lattes I've tried. Unfortunately this only comes in 70% ice. S3 sugar is just right but it might be a bit better to get it in S4. Signature black tea jelly and osmanthus oolong tea jelly - honestly they are nothing too special to me. I can't really tell if they add on flavor to the drink or if the drink itself is strong in tea taste. The black tea is obviously stronger tea tasting whereas the osmanthus is lighter. Sesame jelly - this is what makes it good. Some people mentioned they didn't like the texture because it is grainy but that is what sesame is about. It is extremely nutty and fragrant and adds a whole new level to the drinks. It's great with their milk teas. Boba jelly - I think this is a new topping because it wasn't previously available. We ordered a Taiwanese milk tea with oolong jelly and lychee black tea with black tea jelly both with the recommended level 3 sweetness. Our drinks came out so fast, within 2 mins of ordering. First sip impression... I was really underwhelmed. The tea flavor itself was fine, but the jelly was lacking significantly in flavor. I could only really taste a subtle hint of the oolong in the jelly if I ate it by itself and the black tea jelly had no particular taste to it. Also, I'm not sure if it was just me, but texture of the jelly made it really difficult to slurp up with the straw. The big chunks of jelly just floated around and I ended up eating it separately anyways after I finished the tea. I probably won't be back since there are better alternatives nearby. While this tea place is located inside of 99 Ranch, it did have it's own designated section by the entrance with seating which was nice. It seemed only staffed by 1-2 people so they relied on the kiosk for orders (which was fine). Beware they did run out of ingredients though, so something to keep in mind. I really enjoyed my Daydream Latte, with S3, regular milk, with almond pudding and sesame jelly - although next time would find another tea for the sesame jelly. All the jellies I've tried have been delicious and high quality (it's my main reason for coming here), how it's paired will definitely make a difference to the taste of your drink. Impressive tea shop. I am familiar with the brand from Taiwan. A couple of things I like about this place - first, they have more sugar levels than the usual 30%, 50%, etc. You can even have 10% if you want just a touch of sweetness, which is better than zero sugar. They also have two strengths of black tea, which is nice. I love the straight-up black tea without any toppings, nice and strong and clear. My wife gets the same thing, but with tea jelly inside, which she says is really good. I will try the naicha one day with full-on brown sugar and boba, but I want to be healthy. But it looks good. Delicious and fun to try the boba jellies they specialize in. I got the oatmilk matcha with black sesame jelly and it was very lightly sweet and had a nutty and earthy taste. I went to Hechalou and got 2 drinks: the Daydream Black Tea Latte and the Divine Latte and both with the signature black tea jelly (costs $1 more). Ordering was fine but the service to get my drinks was terrible. They prioritized kiosks orders first instead of the ones at the cashier so I saw people after me get their orders. Also, they ran out of the tea jelly and gave me the leftover scraps instead of notifying me and asking if I would like to substitute it, which is wrong because I pay extra for it and I should get the same amount as everyone else ordering it. So I had to tell them to remake my drink with a different jelly. The servers are not communicative with the customers and I, along with others, had to ask them why my order is not ready and what's the status of it. The tea was watered down due to the wait so I think they need to improve on their communication and prioritization. read more
