Services were great! They gave us free scallops on the house so I thought that was neat. My favorite was the giant salmon and the mango rolls! It was rrally good and very fulfilling. I would definitely come back. We were LOADED

The King Dragon Roll !! I get it every time !

Food is always excellent Service is great . Ambience is a cool relaxed vibe :) My favorite sushi restaurant by far ! #1

Pretty but gave us food poisoning

This used to be our go to, we used to love this place, now the service is mediocre and the food makes us sick. Server: Name started with a J but other than that she mostly hid in the back. Ordered two sodas but had to ask another server due to her forgetting to bring it. She also did not bring out food, or offer a check. Overall do not understand how she is still employed here. Ambiance: The menus are new and very clear and visibility appealing. Food: Fish is old and had a bad smell. When telling the server she simply said "Sorry" but did nothing to attempt to resolve the problem. Overall: Food looks pretty but appearances are highly deceiving.

Heemo Sushi brings bold flavors, big rolls, and a surprisingly fun atmosphere--perfect for families, celebrations, or anyone craving generous portions. Parking & Vibe Plenty of parking (love that), spotless inside and out, and the holiday decorations gave the space a warm, festive touch. ‍‍ Family-Friendly + Celebration Energy Heemo earns bonus points for a solid kids menu (ages 8 and under) with options like chicken teriyaki, popcorn chicken, tonkatsu, and even a tempura party--each served with rice, waffle fries, and a drink. And if you're celebrating? They go full send with birthday chants and sake bomb chants--definitely adds to the fun. Service Started strong, but we definitely felt the shift change when our server disappeared and follow-up stalled. Not a dealbreaker, just noticeable. Rolls & Flavors Heemo's specialty rolls are huge--hard to eat in one bite but absolutely feel worth the price. Presentation was on point, and the flavors delivered. We tried: * Heemo Roll - spicy, crunchy, and saucy in all the right ways. * Sunkist - bright, citrusy, refreshing. * Midnight - deep-fried indulgence with jalapeño heat. * King Salmon - bold, layered, and generous. * Truffle Salmon Blue Crab - luxuriously balanced. Plus a crispy, satisfying salmon skin hand roll. Final Thoughts Great portions, lively energy, family-friendly touches, and solid flavors make Heemo Sushi a worthy stop. Minor service dip aside, Heemo brings big bites, big vibes, and elite-worthy value.

California Roll was delicious. And the spicy tina roll was great with a spicy kick.

From the outside it looks like an average restaurant but inside is alive and well. The service is great and attentive. We ordered 4 rolls and the quality was good. The only issue we had is all the rolls we had were rolled into large pieces. We had trouble eating them without falling apart. Aside from that we were good with the taste and presentation.

Best food, sushi is huge and worth the price! I came on a Friday, and it was busy, but the service was still very fast and checked up on us a lot. The vibe was nice and the restaurant was clean too. Definitely coming back.

Heemo is still one of my favorite places to go get my sushi fix and they have not been skimping on sushi slices so I've been more than happy when visiting here. Service has been great lately and they are fast at helping you.

So Hot on left and DHK on right

This is the most unassuming hidden gem! Needed some late night food (around 9) so a friend took me to Heemo for the first time - they were open until 11 which I love as a late eater. Wait time was only 15 minutes and everyone was so friendly. Quick service with drinks and food - and a huge variety to order from. We got the DHK, Tustin, Ninja, and So Hot and each of them were seriously melt in your mouth good. The Tustin was surprisingly fresh and light. The salmon was spectacular! I can not wait to come back. More than the rolls are HUGE. Like a whole mouth full per bite, so I'll definitely order a little less next time.

There is something about Heemo Sushi that I really like. I think it has to do with the fact that I enjoy every dish they have to offer. Some places have great sashimi, while other places have great rolls. Heemo has both. But that is not all. Their small plates are so delicious as well! We came for dinner last night as a party of 3. We ordered their sashimi platter, couple rolls, and small plates. Hubbie wanted their ramen as well. As the dishes came out, I started thinking we ordered too much. But by the end, we finished almost everything LOL. That's how much we enjoyed their dinner. Their sashimis are great, very generous in size and tastes buttery. I don't normally enjoy rolls, but their rolls were very good. Their fried dishes are SO good. Tonkatsu was a favorite by us all. Highly recommend their salmon collar as well. Service was spectacular. It gets busy, but the wait goes by fast. We all agreed that their food was fresh and we didn't feel nasty stuffed after. I can't wait to go back and try their other items next time.

The food was great and filling, Sushi pieces are very generous, Chef and Staff are quick to handle your needs

Scallop Roll Had to return. Tasted suspiciously bad.
Kayla A.

Overall a solid place for sushi. Getting service took longer than expected for us. And most of the sushi was good with the exception of the scallop hand roll that I had to return because it smelled a little off. Didn't want to risk it.

Our rolls. Look at how thick they are! Haha

This has to be one of my favorite places in Orange County for sushi! I went recently with a good friend of mine who loves going there. I ordered a mango and salmon roll that was sooo good. The rolls are THICK. They're not greedy with their ingredients. I was satisfied with one roll, haha. But it tasted so good. I had a bowl of miso which was good, nothing crazy but it's miso. The place itself has easy parking, lots of seating and the waiters were kind as well as attentive. I went around 4pm and it was very chill, we got seated right away. They offer more than just sushi / sashimi! There are bento boxes and noodle dishes. Plus they have lunch specials. I'll for sure be back again.

Ask the Community - Heemo Sushi

This place is marked as having outdoor seating. Is it still available?

I haven't seen outdoor seating there since the pandemic started. They may have had it at one point but the tables and chairs haven't returned as of a few weeks ago when I was last there.

Does restaurant have Happy Hour specials?

They do but you wont notice it on your bill cause they always tweek the prices so there's really not much of a discount.

Do they offer delivery?

You can use a food delivery service like uber eats, but they don't deliver themselves.

Do they still have their 50% off promotion?

No they do not

Is there phone number even working?

Works once a month when we order. This is from their website Call us at 714-997-9953

Is the 50% off also for AYCE?

No. They're not doing AYCE right now.

How much is the charge for left overs?

Any establishment that offers "All you can eat" will generally charge you if there are left overs or waste. However, if the amount is small, I doubt Heemo Sushi will charge. It's bad for business and I suppose one could always state that it didn't… Read more

How does the buy one get one free option work?

What are the prices?

The $27 or ao price is for all you can eat, I believe. The single roll price was around $7 or $8+ dollars. The Kamakazi Roll was great.

Do they have sake?

Yes, however, they are waiting on a re-submission for the establishment's alcohol license. This should be cleared up soon. However, if you're really in the need for some at your table bring in your favorite and share it with the chef...get a… Read more

How much is AYCE lunch?

As of January 2020, $23.95 or something like that. Basically $24 and the lunch AYCE is not offered on weekends. Weekends are AYCE dinner ~ $30.

Is this a Japanese owned or Korean owned sushi restaurant? Thank you!

Korean owned. Super friendly, quick service, and quality sushi.

Is there a certain menu only for all you can eat?

For Lunch you do have a specific selection for the AYCE which leaves out the Premium Expensive stuff $12+ items. The Dinner menu allows for all options. Pretty much everything… Read more

What is inside the non-rice rolls? I cannot find any descriptions for those rolls

Usually, it's "California" fusion (Imitation Crab, Japanese Mayo, Garlic powder mixed). However, the Mr and Mrs Gaga rolls are usually Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon. The other non-rice rolls are usually a mix of the 3 mentioned.

Every piece was delicious and tasted incredibly fresh, as if it had just come straight from the ocean. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, with a sushi bar and a few tables. We were seated at a table, which was comfortable for lunch. Keep in mind that lunch service ends at 2:00 PM, after which they prepare for dinner service. The quality of the fish was outstanding, and the freshness really stood out. While the meal is a bit on the pricey side for lunch, the quality and experience make it well worth it. If you're looking for excellent, fresh sushi, Ohshima is definitely worth a visit.

Second visit, and probably the last…read more Our first visit about a year ago was excellent -- good enough that I was happy to return expecting a repeat. This time we left without much desire to come back, and for me it comes down to one thing: how the food tasted. The amuse bouche was an inauspicious start -- small bits of a cooked protein (chicken?) in a standard Japanese onion vinaigrette. The protein was unidentifiable, I didn't finish it, and I'm not sure how it's supposed to set the table for a sushi dinner. Ohshima's strength is supposed to be nigirizushi: small rice, generous fish, with a carefully chosen condiment and/or tare to enhance each piece. That formula worked on the pieces that got tare -- akami and masu were the standouts of the evening. But on the remaining pieces, the itamae misted the fish with what he described as yuzu after construction. Yuzu has a distinct floral-citrus character that's hard to miss; what came through instead was a watery taste that muted the fish's natural flavor. Toro, which should have been a highlight, suffered the most from this. Water is the enemy of flavor, and whatever was in that spray bottle undermined the whole point of the condiment approach. Three of the thirteen pieces were closely related jacks -- hiramase, kampachi, and shima aji -- which bordered on redundant given how similar they are in flavor profile. The gindara was torched aggressively enough to leave a residual propane taste. At $260 for two before tip (including two large Sapporo), I'd also note that the diner's-choice extra piece offered on our first visit wasn't available this time -- a quiet downgrade, though I understand the economics. The technical execution was competent. Nothing was bad in an obvious way. But the watery flavor issue was consistent and consequential enough to make this a shadow of what it was.

It's not very far from Disney, but far enough from the crowds. First, the service was great. They were very nice and attentive. It was pretty slow, but it was Sunday on a holiday weekend. We ordered several sushi rolls and a pork katsu. The flavors were all delicious. The spicy scallops hand roll was great and they didn't hide it under krab or any other fillers. It was a little spicier than I expected and it was delicious. What I most appreciated was I was able to order more rolls for variety because an order was 4 pieces. The price reflected the amount and so you really could try different rolls and not pay $15-20 for each. The restaurant was cozy and tastefully decorated. They still have a sushi bar, which I always love as an option. We will definitely keep this place on the list when we are in the area.

My 5 star goes to the yellowtail jala, omg it was SO GOOD and the yellowtail just melted in my mouth. We ended up ordering another one and I could honestly just eat this all day. I LOVE this place and can't believe it took me this long to try it!…read more My friend and I ordered the Taberu Lunch Course (basically a mini omakase), and every course was thoughtfully prepared. The course included a chawanmushi with shiitake mushroom and shrimp, followed by 7 pieces of seasonal wild-caught fish. My favorite part was the mini kaisendon with Kumamoto oyster with caviar, sweet amaebi with creamy Bara uni, and toro that completely melted in my mouth. The yuzu mochi at the end was perfect -- not too sweet and had a nice chew to it. We also ordered the spicy garlic soy edamame, mizu tako aburi, and spicy tuna crispy rice. The crispy rice was a standout -- crunchy, flavorful, and topped with spicy tuna, eel sauce, and serrano. Delicious! Service was on point. Andrew, the team leader, was super friendly and knowledgeable, and his recommendation of the yuzu sakari highball ended up being my favorite drink of the night. Slightly sweet, citrusy, and dangerously easy to drink. The owner Lynn, chef Sam, chef Sylvia, and chef Joon were incredibly kind and welcoming, and you can really tell how much care goes into the food here. The restaurant also has a quiet, intimate ambiance that made my experience feel even more relaxing. I love that the fish selection changes with the seasons, making it even more unique. This place just earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
