Yet another place I found through the appeal of their promotions during this pandemic. Their deal is a steal so I have no idea how many times I've ordered from them since March. Cost: With 50% off sushi, the family and I had been eating here probably on a bi-weekly basis. We order 4 rolls and 10 orders of sushi which total to roughly $65-$70. My family usually eats around this much at an AYCE place so this isn't too far off the mark. Food: The Katella and Samurai rolls are MUST HAVES. They each have such an amazing combination of flavors when sauce is added. One thing I highly appreciate here is that they don't give me a large portion of rice with the nigiri. I went here for ayce last year and the experience was awesome! Sushi is fresh and delicious. However I came back excited for the 50% off sushi and rolls and it wasn't as good. The seared salmon is not seared at all except one old looking piece. The salmon was cut way too thick and was hard to eat. The half off sushi is fair price, but the half off rolls is not really fair considering they mark each roll at average $15-$18. Service is still decent and fast. Food came out fast. Ultimately we look at Yelp as our determinant in whether a place is good to try or not. My recommendation: DEFINITELY TRY HEEMO SUSHI. Sushi is delicious! I love sushi and have tried from hole-in-the-wall to a little more "upscale" sushi so believe me when I say this is good food. It's great quality food for the reasonable/average price. The only thing I give a 4.5 star rating is customer service: the son of the restaurant owner was super sweet and nice when I showed up with my mom stating I was on the Yelp waitlist. He was quick to let us know they were cleaning the table and would seat us once it was ready. However, we were placed closer to the restroom (which was clean btw--props for this) and had to keep asking for essentials that should have been given to from the get-go like small, individual plates to mix our soy sauce & wasabi as well as straws (maybe they don't provide unless you ask? Not sure about this one). Once we asked for everything we needed we did get a server coming up to us twice during our lunch to make sure everything was good so that was great! We were craving sushi and wanted to support our local sushi restaurant and staff. Instead of take out, we dined in. We got to the restaurant carrying the baby in a car seat and alll his stuff. The restaurant had 3 parties seated inside and 2 outside. They were fulfilling a few take out orders. 3 staff members were running the show, one of which was at the cashier station which is right next to the front door. Why was this important? We stood there waiting at least 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging or seating us despite plenty of open tables and us carrying a bunch of things ... I finally asked the cashier if she could seat us because I couldn't hold the car seat/baby any longer. So we got seated and ordered plenty of food including sashimi, nigiri, and rolls. Rolls and nigiri came out very slowly but did come out all at once. Our table was small so we thought they were holding off on the sashimi until our tables cleared a bit. Half the plates were removed and still no sashimi. We asked the waiter what happened to our sashimi (most pricey part of the orders) and he said he'll check. So the sashimi comes when we were almost done with dinner. We didn't want to make a fuss since we know restaurants are trying to recover during these difficult times. I love that you can order limited sashimi slices which most AYCE places don't give you. You can also choose how little and much rice you want AND did I mention they carry REAL wasabi too?! Most places don't even give you that option! MINDBLOWN! We came on a weekday so it wasn't packed and got seated right away! The workers were all really nice and attentive and constantly asked if we need anything! Love it! Everything at Heemo was super fresh and nicely plated. They have a good selection of rolls and sushi. For rolls we got Heemo, Popcorn Lobster, and Kamikaze. Everything was delicious and sauce and filling were not too overpowering. I would definitely recommend checking this place out. I found my quarentine sushi spot I'm so happy I gave this place a try. They have great specials that I couldn't resist and the sushi was really good. I love that they packaged the sauce on the side so your sushi doesnt get soaked in the sauce. Been eating here for the past two years or so on occasion. Large selection of sushi rolls and entrees. It was never great just a decent "Korean" Japanese restaurant. Rolls are overstuffed with imitation crab filler and the quality of fish was/is fresh but tasteless and lacks quality. Fast forward to a recent dining experience, the bento (meal) tempura is now comprised of a single shrimp, two won tons, egg roll and a fried onion cluster which has always been terrible tasting. In sum, for delivery, everything was packaged really well - most sauces for each roll/sushi came on the side, nothing got soggy, so that was good. But all the avocado in or on every roll was brown. We ordered: Seared salmon sushi - hated this. This was the one thing that came with a sauce on top. The sauce, in our opinion, was not good, it just made the seared salmon taste like stereotypical bad fish. Salty, fishy, and gross. I actually had to spit this out. Salmon sushi - very good, standard salmon sushi Crunch Roll - good too, also standard. Though bigger roll piece. More similar to a spider roll size Canadian Hand Roll - salmon and avocado hand roll. Standard. Tasty Crispy Rice Roll - very very good. The rice remained crispy and the spicy albacore was delicious. Monster Roll - good, very unique and special to Heemo. My boyfriend and I were around the area and looked up sushi on yelp and decided to give this place a try. AYCE places are a hit or miss for us and I was hesitant to try, but it was pretty good! I would say it is a solid 3.5. We came during lunch but you can pay for the dinner menu as well. Initially we were going to get the dinner menu because of the king scallops and sweet shrimp but changed our mind when we realized you had to pay additional for the sweet shrimp and the king scallop would only be one order per person and only one piece. There wasn't a huge selection for the lunch portion but it was good enough. There are other comparable AYCE spots that have a way bigger selection but for the lunch price, it'll do. Besides that the actual quality of sushi was good. The salmon was fresh and fatty, melt in your mouth good. We also ordered a baked roll that was decent and came in 4 pieces which I prefer so I could have room for other items. The escarole and yellow tail sushi were also fresh and delicious. Love this place!!! I've been here three times and really love their fish to rice ratio as well as their AYCE menu. They also give you the option to choose how much rice to include somewhere around the top of the order sheet. The first time I came here, it was suuuuper slow but I think it's because a lot of people had called off - even the sushi chefs were taking orders from tables. Crazy! Anyway, decided to give this place another try and was completely satisfied with the food and service. My favorite roll here is the crazy roll. Finally tried them out on a date night with my partner. It was late on a weekday, so not too busy. Our server, Austin, was the epitome of world class customer service. He was attentive, made great recommendations including the fresh wasabi root, and was kind & outgoing. We did the all you can eat for about $27 per person (I think). Last week was I treated myself to AYCE KBBQ after achieving my monthly goal of working out (somewhat) consistently, and so this week, instead of taking a break, I continued on my AYCE streak and got some sushi! Since I heard that Heemo was a new shining star in the world of AYCE sushi, my BF and I decided to give them a try especially since they're one of the first AYCE sushi spots that allow you to choose how much rice you want in each roll/nigiri - small, medium, or large. Because we dined in during the weekend, it was automatically set to dinner pricing ($26.95) as the lunch pricing ($21.95) is for those who dine in during the weekday before 4pm. Whichever option you choose, you get 3 rounds of ordering but the especially great thing about dinner it that it includes their premium items such as giant scallop (2pc), sashimi (2pc), and my fav uni (1pc.. not 2pc as specified)! And for my first round, I made sure to make my money's worth by shooting straight for these items as well as some other nigiri and their fried oyster app. The giant scallop, while having a great texture, was not too flavorful and the spicy sauce that was a little too spicy for my liking and dominated the nigiri. As for the uni, it was ah-mazing - buttery, not bitter, and the best I've had at any AYCE spot so far!! The only thing that I was disappointed by was the fact that instead of receiving 2 pieces as shown on the menu, each person only gets 1. They mentioned that it was a typo on the menu so I hope that they change it so that it's more accurate. It was a bummer and I was v sad upon hearing this. Sweet Shrimp (1pc) can be added on to AYCE for $2 more which isn't bad at all if you're curious to give it a try! Though I'm still writing about Round 1, I'll make things short and sweet by mentioning the Do's, Meh's, and Don'ts when it comes to the rest of the orders. The Do's include ordering the salmon sashimi, salmon skin roll, raw oysters (1pc), tempura oyster, spider roll which has soft shell crab, south roll, ika salad, and the complimentary green tea ice cream (while being just okay, it's free dessert so gotta get that). The Meh's include the ramen (it's Nongshim) and surf clam for its lack of flavor. The only real Don'ts that I would mention is their Tako Nigiri (2), which surprisingly is on their premium menu. Though it has real wasabi, it's quite slimy and wayyyyy too salty, almost like it was pickled salty. I was not a fan, but hey, it all comes down to preference. Oh! I forgot to mention that I specified small for the rice portion found in the rolls and while it was small in comparison to other non-AYCE sushi spots, it wasn't as nearly as small amount of rice that I usually get at Sake 2 Me for their nigiri. The servers, while all being quite cheery and helpful, were a bit slow with bringing out the food and more than once I saw that they missed some part of our orders for each round. When I mentioned it to them, I hoped that they would remedy it but I think it got too busy so it persisted throughout our dinner. Nevertheless, they're a new place so I get - just hope they work on that as they get used to the crazy traffic. All in all Heemo has some great potential as I would say their quality of food is up there with my fav AYCE sushi spot Sake 2 Me. I'll probably visit again in a few months when they've worked out the kinks but until then, I hope others give them a shot and provide their own verdicts!
