Very excited to try Bethany Beaches newest restaurant! We had 6:30 reservations & was seated promptly even though they were very busy! There are some growing pains to smooth out,however considering all the staff are new,we were well served. Disappointed that they ran out of Veggie burgers as early as 6:30 on friday nite! My hempeh stir fry was SO delicious ...would have again! My husband's portobello mushroom had a delicious marinade & not the run of the mill balsamic kind ,however the roll did not hold together well. Nice Specials!! Nice varied selections!! Music was very loud so could not hear waitress hardly at all,but once we asked music to be turned down, they did. It was a hopping place and looks Very Promising. The radishes w/ avocado dip was a real nice touch! Love the local farm & bakery menu and vegan & gluten free options! I wish them well and will definitely be back. They are extremely over priced for what you get. I got a sweet and savory bowl and it was a small bowl of raw kale, raw red onions, and cold sweet potatoes for $14. I added shrimp for $9 and got a measly 5 shrimp. The bowl was a total of $23 and wasn't worth it AT all. Not cool. read more

This new restaurant is sure to become popular. It's location on the boardwalk affords it a nice ocean breeze without being in the main foot traffic. It's feels like a hideaway. Decor is a stylish mix of modern, beach. Care is taking with the details. Our teens appreciated the hanging wicker chairs to relax in while we waited for our food. Our grass fed, strip steaks were perfectly cooked and flavorful, just as our sautéed greens with chickpeas. The service was genuinely warm and attentive. Families from the Bethesda and DC area will appreciate this new addition to Bethany. We've been coming to Bethany for years and this is our new favorite restaurant! read more

Food is terrible. We came with a party of 4, and one of the dishes looked appetizing. The special was a party dish with veggies and my gosh was it terrible. Veggies' as describes were just broccoli and cauliflower, not sure how that qualifies as a veggie dish, more just a side than a medley to actually call out on the menu. The pasta was overcooked and mushy, the pasta was swimming in sauce and terrible flavor. It wasn't just out of a can as they tried to flavor it I think but they must not know anything about red sauce. The harvest salad did look good. Sword tacos very average, burger looked average. There is only outside seating which is inconvenient when it starts to get cooler, there are flies everywhere which really brings down the meal when you're swatting all meal long. I just don't know if there is anything good to say and k definitely won't be back. read more

No alterations allowed and when we asked for no sauce on a burger for my son, and they wouldn't do it, family of 4 walked out. Sauce sounded gross anyway, described as Dijon mustard and pickle juice. I understand no alterations on a chefs dish, but refusing to serve a burger without sauce is ridiculous. read more

Our server, Alex, was phenomenal with our son (3) and friends' daughter (18-months). She brought the kiddos food out first and was quick to replenish drinks when the parents needed them! Such a cute little spot. read more

We found this place by accident, we did not realize something new had opened. It was fantastic! Service and food both! The burger, trio of dips, several items. We love farm to table, fresh, interesting foods that are full of flavor. We are not fond of tourist traps nor chain restaurant menu's so this was a great find. Definitely recommend giving it a try. read more

Decided to try something new this year. Went 7/26/20. Kitchen was very backed up, so long wait for food- probably 45-50 minutes after order placed. Coronavirus spacing and it wasn't full either so not sure why so backed up. Party of 8, and we got 6 different things from the menu, plus one appetizer, and drinks. Of these, one person liked the meal. Most of the rest did not finish their meals. So maybe good if you are on a diet and trying to not eat? The pineapple daiquiri was ok, other drinks less so. Service was not great: had to ask for utensils. Had to ask for a spoon for the soup. You get the picture. Enough other options to eat at that we won't be back. read more

My wife wanted to try this restaurant because it was new. First water glass had lipstick on it. The coke had a hair in it. They serve tap water in a bottle. Lastly, the scallops ( 4 scallops for $25) were not cooked and cold in the middle. The manger was condescending and let us know that they do not cook their scallops well done. We want our scallops cooked not raw. The center of the scallops were just out of the refrigerator cold. Sorry. I have to change my once raving, 5 star review. The food is great but the service needs work. I'm on my 4th visit in it's first week and have brought several new customers in this time. Today, six of us are here for lunch and my 13 y.o. son asked for the Heidaway burger without the tomatoes and lettuce and the waitress refused saying that this was their "signature" burger and no alterations can be made to their "signature" burger. C'mon, he's a kid! Just agree. Or, politely say that you can easily take it off. Or, say that you'll ask but there are no promises. Additionally, the waitress insisted on carding three 50 somethings and we all look like 50 somethings. One did not have ID so she refused to serve him. We've been coming to Bethany for 25 years and have never been carded. One of our 16 year olds went directly to the chef who happily said that he could take the lettuce and tomato off. Maybe I should send her to the bartender next? Just had my first meal at Hideaway. Everything was wonderful. First, they took a desolate cut through next to the beach and created an adorable boho vibe. If you eat outside, you're in the shade and get the ocean breeze. First, the hibiscus margarita was light and refreshing. Sometimes marg's are too sickly sweet bit this one is perfection. I cannot wait to drink my way through the menu. For food, there's a wide variety. I did the burger and rosemary fries which were delish but there are many more (and healthier) options that I'm looking forward to trying. read more

I have been dying to try this place since we missed the soft opening in April. Not sure if I would come back. Took over 10 minutes to be greeted. Got the "I don't want to be here" vibe from our waiter BIG time. Kid ordered sprite and the waiter said "ok" and brought their version which is not even close to sprite. Probably should have been mentioned when the kid ordered that it's not the same thing. Niçoise salad had a TINY amount of fishy tuna on it- not worth the price listed on the menu and tasted off- huge disappointment. Burgers were good. The atmosphere is great and the design is clean and chic. The food is fresh, but just OK. I ordered the Hempeh Bowl expecting lots of flavor and spice. It was mostly rice and quinoa and oil....not a lot of vegetables and very little flavor. Their signature burger is uncustomizable unless you have allergies. Ate here for dinner the other night with 2 family members. I ordered the Heidaway burger and asked for it with no tomato or onion. I was told you could not make modification to their "signature" burger but that I could pick it off. They stress about using local farm to table food. Why waste the food then? The waitress also asked if medium was ok but the burger came out well-done. Not one spot of pink. Burger was dripping grease all over my plate and made the bottom of the bun soggy. Fries on the side were over cooked and crunchy, more like chips. My mom ordered the quinoa bowl and the chicken on it was very thin cut, over cooked, and dry. Wanted to like this place because of the great location and atmosphere, but instead have to say it is one of the worst meals we've ever had in BB (after living here for years). Food came out cold, missing ingredients (tacos only had meat and lettuce on them), and incredibly bland/tasteless. The menu is pricey which is understandable considering it is local food and the location, but $26 for a harvest sweet potato bowl that had about 4 pieces of meat and 1/4 cup of sweet potatoes is unreal. Delicious organic, locally grown food. As far as I know it's the only place in the area that offers food like this. I ordered the Warm Quinoa Bowl and it was delicious. It had butternut squash, onion, pomegranates and kale (although I substituted arugula for the kale). My husband ordered their Pan Roasted Chicken that came with greens and fingerling potatoes. It was delicious! The decor of the place was very cool. Had a bohemian island feel. Lots of air plants and hanging plants and really cool tile design. Everything seemed very clean. The only downside was the service. Our specific waitress had poor time management and made us feel very alienated. We ordered the focaccia bread appetizer and not even two seconds after it was dropped off by another server, she came over to see how we liked it (we didn't even have time to taste it yet). Same thing happened with our meals. When she brought the bill we didn't pay right away because I was still finishing my meal and we were both finishing off our bottle of water. We hurried and paid and maybe 5 minutes later I was finishing boxing my leftovers and finishing water the waitress came over and asked us if something was wrong since we were still there. It was very strange. We are thinking she may just be new and is still learning how to handle customers. Regardless of that specific service experience, we would definitely go back because the food was amazing and the rest of the staff was very efficient. Really disappointed in both food and service after hearing good reviews from a few friends. Salads haphazardly thrown together and included some really nasty parts of vegetables, sad looking greens and no dressing. A drink was forgotten. Halfway through the meal the waitress came to tell us she hadn't forgotten the drink, she had been delayed at another table and still didn't bring the drink for another few minutes. No condiments on the table, had to go find someone to bring salt, pepper, ketchup. The house burger was good, though. Hanging chairs nearby were being used as playground equipment by some unattended children, very distracting. I will give the place another chance to perform better read more

My wife and I were looking for a different place for dinner. I did a yelp search on hot and new. Heidaway popped up. It is a nice casual place in a strange inside/outside location. Walk all the way in to the restaurant to get seated btw. We started with the dipped fruit trio which was outstanding and fresh including the side veggies and fruit for dipping. Also got a complementary dip of pesto with fresh radishes, this could have been a meal all by itself. For the main course my wife had the Faroe island salmon with a warm quinoa salad and I had the pan seared scallops also with the quinoa salad. Both were healthy portions; well cooked; and tasty. Heidaway is a great new addition to the Bethany restaurant scene. The minimalist and trendy decor is cute, but the farm to table menu is so refreshing! The tuna and avocado dip with radishes and wonton chips is amazing! The complimentary radish dish we were gifted was also amazing. Everything was super fresh, light and filling. The staff were nice and friendly. We went there twice on our vacation and were not disappointed. One of the only downsides were how loud the bar area can get and how many flies were buzzing around. Me and my three other friends tried Heidaway for the first time and we were super excited, unfortunately we were let down. The interior of the restaurant is very nice and pretty but the service...was not. We sat down and immediately noticed dirty water cups and plates. We asked for new cups and the waiter brought out new cups of water that were STILL dirty and left the other dirty dishes on our table. He then brought out new empty cups and grabbed a pitcher of water off of the dirty table next to us and gave it to us to use for water. When I asked him if the water was new, because it was sitting on the table from the previous people, he said "I mean yeah?" Our food was brought out very late and it was mediocre and lacked in flavor. Personally I would not go back. For the price the food was not worth it and the service was horrible and unsanitary. I love the idea of the restaurant and it's semi outdoor atmosphere. The rosemary fries were acceptable, but I've had better. The burger was disappointing. They state that it has 2 slim patties and as another reviewer commented you can't make any changes to how it is served (wasting toppings). Mine seemed to be missing the second patty and when I asked if they said that they sometimes meld together. I've cooked plenty of burgers in my time and have never had cooked burgers suddenly meld together after being cooked. Also as others have said the bottom bun was soggy which didn't bother me as much as most burgers that actually have a little grease will do. The bun is much to big for the burger as it patties don't make it to the edge. The only reason for the 2 stars was for the flavor. It will take some convincing for me to go back after spending $15 on a burger that was only half made.
