Two of us for lunch on a Friday. Plenty of room inside the restaurant, but boy is parking limited. Their lot which goes around the building is not very big. Portions are huge and the barbecue is pretty good. The ribs seem the best to us followed by fatty brisket. You can always ask for lean brisket. The pulled pork was a disappointment and pretty bland/dry. The coleslaw is very good as is the mac & cheese. The pinto beans were overly soupy and have a sweet taste to them. Actually, the only thing I don't care for about Heim's is that everything you have has a sweet or sugary taste to it - especially the burnt ends. There must be sugar in their rub; there certainly is in their barbecue sauce. Many enjoy that. But sweet BBQ meat is not for me. read more

Never had a bad meal, my go to is their amazing grilled cheese with burnt ends, don't sleep on the kids menu, this should be an adults sandwich and the size of it is! My partner and I have been here several times. They have a nice sized interior and outside seating in the front. We always order the ribs, brisket, and mac. Heim's has the best ribs I've ever eaten! They are super tender with a sweet seasoned glaze. The brisket is also tender with a great flavor and a nice fat to meat ratio. The bbq sauce is perfect and not overpowering like some places. The mac is cheesy and peppery just how I like it! I like that they don't try to do anything fancy but give you simple bbq. I would definitely say it's my favorite bbq spot in DFW. This place opened two weekends ago and they are doing their very best in my opinion. Think about it... we are in the middle of a pandemic, businesses are closing down, restaurant industry is on the decline, but Heim barbecue decides to still start up. I think it's ballsy in the most positive way. Okay, so I ordered the brisket plate, with beans and Mac and cheese as my sides. 10/10 all of it. Would get it again for sure but probably ask for an extra half pound. I think they are currently rationing as much as possible due to the high demand of people and that I can understand. Wanted a taste of the much lauded Heim BBQ of Ft Worth so it was a joyous occasion to find a location closer to home. Except that it wasn't. Could it have been their proximity to the airport, since imports tend to be notoriously bad? Or was it just the late afternoon timing that guaranteed that the best cuts were no longer available? Whatever brisket that was included in our order did not qualify as prime grade: it was tough and dry, even though I requested marbled. The bacon burnt ends were similarly dry and tough; you want to exercise your gums, then chew on these burnt ends for about an hour. Overall, Heim left a bad taste in the mouth. It's certainly not representative of the Texas Monthly review that caught my attention in the first place. I hope to visit the Ft Worth locations and update my impressions. read more

This is my second visit to Heim. The first visit was a disaster, but this one was much better. Collard greens were excellent. Mac and Cheese was pretty good as well. However the sausage and burnt ends were ice cold. That is the reason for only four instead of five stars. They were tasty but cold. The brownie was outstanding and a must when visiting! read more

i will be dreaming about this place tonight. when first looking at what to order, i was hesitant on the portion size, so i ordered quite the amount of food (its also cause i tend to order with my stomach and not my brain). I WAS WRONG! i brought home enough leftovers to feed myself dinner tonight. I got the three meat plate with fatty brisket, texas sausage, and burnt ends. the burnt ends are very decadent, it coats your mouth with alot of flavor, and for my viet friends its very reminiscent of a peppery thit kho. the sausage was awesome- i got to try the jalapeno sausage too and texas comes out on top. the brisket... oh the brisket. so juicy and just melts in your mouth. this brisket has been the only brisket where i've noticed the CRUST of the brisket, and it was amazing. mac was a 5/10 for me because i'm picky about my mac and potato salad was a solid 6.8/10. THE BANANA PUDDING IS SO GOOD. DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT BUYING THE BANANA PUDDING. the bill in total was like the price of two, but in the end i have enough food for two meals.. so its a win. counting down the days until i can return back to this place lol read more

Not worth the hype. I've heard great things about Heim Fort Worth, but I guess it didn't translate to their Dallas site, close to Love Field. For reference, our visit was over lunch hour on 4/18/24... Got to the register and ordered two drinks from the menu first, which they said, "Oh we don't have the ingredients for those. Would you like to try something else?" Okay, sure, we did. The Old Fashioned and the Margarita were basic. Had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks, looks like the bartender was nowhere in sight. We got our food first, they brought our drinks out afterwards. Brisket - Good but a bit tough in texture. Pork Burnt Ends - Overcooked and hard. Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage - Good. Turkey - Dry. Collard Greens - Bad. NO flavoring to them at all, tasted like wet lettuce. No butter, no pepper, no ham, no bacon grease, etc. Onion Rings - Good, big and battered well, could use some spices in the batter. Green Chili Mac N Cheese - Hmm, where was the green chili? (see the picture). We found about 3 "sliverings" of green chili in the whole order, was very disappointed. Crinkle Cut Fries - Great. Nice to have "crinkle cut" at a BBQ place! Excellent BBQ! Many of the reviews commented about the cost. While it was high we received a lot of food. The brisket sandwich had so much meat on it that my daughter made it into two meals. Hubs got the three meat -brisket - jalapeño cheddar sausage - bacon burnt ends. Bacon burnt ends!!!! I got the ribs. The brisket was moist and extremely tender and the sausage was excellent with just a small bite of spice. The ribs were spectacular. We ordered the Mac Cheese which is so incredibly creamy and flavorful! Unfortunately they ran out of the pulled pork - so will have to go back! The hand- pie of the day was a blueberry lavender - oh my.... So delicious. We will be back! read more

But wine prices and pour size are way not really market standard for price (price = $10.00/ glass ) and for a very low pour amount: 5 oz pour (measured to make sure they don't give an extra drop. Industry standard is 6-8 oz pour for wine. Most pour at 8) And this is for a Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc which is not high end ($12.00/bottle at Kroger). We hear about Texas bbq and boy did they deliver! All three employees, one being the manager, were so nice and friendly. I got the pork rib platter and wow! The ribs were tender and had a rub with a bit of sweetness. I bought a jar of that to take with me. The bbq sauce is sweet but not cloyingly so, and finishes with a slight bite of heat at the end. Six big rib portions were in my platter. For sides I got the green Chile Mac and cheese which was sublime! Creamy, a tiny bite of warmth (not really heat) and it was so cheesy and delicious! The twice baked potato salad was a hit as well. Potato salad and baked potato lovers alike will love it! Both sides were freshly made. I also had a salted caramel apple hand pie. The crust was flaky and delicious, and the apples inside were fresh, not canned. It was sooo good! Took home some banana pudding but we tried a bite first. It was good and we appreciated the crushed wafers on the side so they weren't soggy when eating it later. Portions are huge and will easily give me two meals out of one. read more

Can't put my finger on it, but the food was just ok. For them to charge $15 for a sandwich (a la carte), I expected the bbq to knock my socks off! I had a 2 meat plate, tx sausage& brisket, pinto beans and onion rings. The brisket was by far the best part of my meal as the meat fell apart in my mouth. The sausage however, the skin was a little tough and not much flavor. The pinto beans had a seasoning that I couldn't identify. They were cooked perfect though with plenty of bean liquor. The onion rings were huge and battered nicely. The verdict is still out on if I'll return. I usually give places at least two tries before I give up on them (unless it's garbage, LOL). read more

I specifically went for Corn Dog Tuesdays for take out. I didn't want to pay $7.99 for a corn dog that I've never had. On Tuesday's they're $2 for the regular dogs, not the sausages. The service was pretty quick. I probably spent less than 10 min and there was no line. I got a corn dog and loaded potato salad. The corn dog was pretty big but it honestly had no real flavor. They did give some BBQ sauce but it was sweet. The potato salad wasn't my cup of tea. It was just potatoes, cheese, bacon, and chives. I think I had high expectations based on the previous reviews. My boo heard about this place on the radio... where they ranted and raved about the bacon burnt ends. Ok, so these ends are great, but not my favorite. A++ is the dry rubbed pork ribs. I will definitely come back for the ribs!! Fatty brisket is my second best, then Texas sausage. Do not bother with the sides or desserts... none of them are really worth the effort. Just finished up a late lunch at Heim. Ordered the brisket plate with collard greens and mac & cheese. The brisket turned out to be some of the better brisket I've ever eaten. The texture and flavor were perfect for my taste. The two sides were also great. My complaints are minor. I spent $28 for a one meat brisket plate with two sides and an ice tea. That's still seems a bit expensive to me but it's in line with their competitors. They didn't have any Louisiana pepper sauce for my collard greens. No lemon slices were provided for iced tea. The bartender was kind enough to solve that problem. All in all, it was the best experience I've had at the Heim Mockingbird location. read more

Ribs were good but I came with a group of out of towners for the brisket and they were all out...at 7 oclock on a Saturday night...along with the jalapeno cheddar sausage and coleslaw. The pulled pork substitute was dry and look like the bottom of the barrel and the guy at the register wasn't very helpful. Heim BBQ has great potential but fails to deliver on the basics. A lot of places stray from conventional BBQ, and this is not necessarily a bad thing. Unless you are looking for great quality BBQ classics like Brisket and banana pudding. First we ordered the 4 meat platter which was around $30. As you can see in the photo there were very mediocre amounts of meat. The Burnt ends are good so long as you're a fan of teriyaki sauce. The BBQ was all pretty good but nothing special unfortunately. For sides we got Cole Slaw and Baked potato salad. They were both very good. Particularly the potato salad. For desert we got some Banana Pudding and Black Cherry cobbler. The cobbler was really good! The banana pudding had alright flavor with an odd sandy texture (I think you can tell in photo). Overall worth a try, I might have just caught them on an off day. Staff was nothing but friendly. Really wish I could give a 3.5 star rating. read more

We were picking up someone from out of state at the airport and figured they would like some genuine Texas BBQ. Good call! The place is so convenient when leaving the airport. Our first time, so we took a bit longer to figure it out. We each had something different and everything was excellent. I had the Brisket sandwich chopped and it was great quantity and quality. The manager checked on us and thanked us for coming in. Always a good sign that they care about what their customers think. We live close to this Dallas outlet of a Ft. Worth family barbecue joint and I know where I can get my brisket fix. I ordered it lean on a plate lunch and got 3/4 pound (2 meat plate) and it was tender, not too smoky and had great bark - I would call it perfection! The barbecue sauce in a large bottle on the table was very good - just a touch sweet and spicy. The plates come with 2 sides - I got twice baked potato salad and coleslaw. The potato salad was made with cheese and green onions lightly mixed with I would guess was mayo and sour cream. The coleslaw was purple cabbage and carrots with a light vinegar/mayo dressing. My husband got pepper jack sausage and Texas (peppered) sausage with potato salad and collard greens. He really loved the potato salad and I really liked the collard greens. The servings were very generous and easily feeds two. We went all out and ordered 2 desserts - Homemade banana pudding and cherry cobbler. Definitely getting the cobbler again and next time with ice cream to share. The banana pudding is enough for 2 people but it was not very flavorful. I really dislike the artificial pudding that most joints serve so I was disappointed that this homemade one had underripe bananas and only a dusting of vanilla wafers on top - needs a better ratio. The building is some renovated restaurant (across from Love Field) and nicely comfortable but loud. Service was excellent. We were early (10:30) for lunch but the order taker kindly went to the kitchen to see what was ready. We will go back but employ a different strategy. I can see why this place is very popular! I was glad to be able to go to this location vs having to drive to Ft. worth. As usual I started with the BBQ trinity of Brisket, Ribs and Sausage and as a bonus I got the beef and bacon burnt ends. The star of the show was definitely the brisket, hands down some of the most tender brisket I've had. The the ribs were good and I enjoyed the burnt ends. The sausage (the 2 spicy ones) were good too but just not on the wow level of the brisket. Looking forward to going back and trying the sides. read more
