I recently bought a 2018 Subaru Forrester from John Hines Mazda Subaru in Temecula, we went to few dealerships before making our purchase. I have never had a better car buying experience than I had at John Hines. Derek Adams is a great person to buy a car from, he is knowledgeable and fair and he makes the experience fun and easy. He also has made himself available after our car purchase to answer questions and make sure we are happy with our purchase. Jamie Perez in finance was great too, the loan he worked out for us was better than our credit union loan. It was a 2 hour drive for us to buy our car at John Hine Temecula, but well worth the trip. Took my daughter's 2012 Mazda 3 in for service and came away very satisfied. The car had a "Check engine" light, flickering headlights when braking/decelerating and a dashboard section that was delaminated. All three items were fixed under warranty (big surprise) and they let me use a loaner car for three days. Service consultant Patricia was very helpful, gracious and informative. She kept me apprised of the service and delivered the car at the time she promised to have it back to me. I normally distrust dealer service because I've paid too much and received little in return in my previous experience. This was the best service experience I have had in a long time. We are new in town and have been having some concerns with our cx9. Lee Quintanilla and Dennis Domingos were helpful and friendly. I never felt pressured and the whole experience was literally transparent (manager is in open unlike other dealerships whose managers offices are behind dark windows **cough...Nissan**). Make an appointment 2 days in advance to have my Mazda recall fixed. Arrive at 7am as scheduled. Told it will take 5-6 hours including the oil change. I hear nothing from the dealer. I call at 4pm to find out whats going on? I am eventually told the car will not be ready until the next day. I asked why and was told 2 cars in front of me needed diagnostic. Seriously. Why not pick up the phone and text that earlier in the day? Well its the next day and still no word. Yes the people are very nice but this is unacceptable. Its my second bad experience with this service dept..Be warned. OK so I get a call late today , not yesterday, saying oil filter attachment problem then they say the air bag lite is on after they do the airbag recall. Lite was never on before. The oil was changed recently by a reputable approved MAZDA repair shop with no issues. They dont even have the part if I did want them to fix the filter. They dont have time to run a diagnostic on the lite issue today and want to charge me to do so.They have the car for two days and now I need to take my Mazda somewhere else to get it fixed all due to an airbag recall. read more

I bought my first Mazda in June 2013 from John Hine, it's a Mazda 5. Or was, I guess it's the body of a Mazda 5 but 4 years and 66k miles later with regular service, the engine is destroyed. I was about 6000 miles out of warranty but a year still left on the "time" aspect (technically, accept for the whichever comes first clause). I was quoted $10,000 dollars for a new engine (the current value of the car) and service. I don't know of anywhere that charges $10,000 for a new engine and service, (believe me I asked around) the average labor was between 700-1500, not including the cost of the engine (which they claim is $5000 comps I found used low mileage were about $1500). I submitted my service paperwork, but since my car wasn't serviced at the dealership that automatically counts against me, they submitted my records to the "District Manager" (who you can't talk to and they are "not at liberty" to disclose his or her information because and I quote "it's like giving out a family members information to a stranger" ) and said they can "help me out" by knocking off some $ and I would owe $3,848. That's pretty much just the cost of the repairs at regular auto shop. So because I had it serviced at another location it was deemed to be a "lack of service" and I should feel lucky and grateful that they even "worked" with me at all. Buyer Beware!! The cars are poor quality and the service is even worse. I will never buy another Mazda and I most certainly wouldn't recommend John Hine. Update: Got my car back from the dealership after dropping almost 4K for a new engine (supposedly). Immediately after driving it I noticed a shutter that wasn't there before (with my previously tapping destroyed engine). I drove it back to the dealership and drove it with the mechanic that installed the engine. He started blaming the other systems in the car, maybe it's your transmission, your air conditioner, anything but the brand new engine installation (the ONLY THING that has changed). He told me to drive it for a week and see if, and I quote, "the systems get to know each other, they need to get into harmony and marry together." Yeah...... Now 3 weeks out Lee my service rep is dodging my calls, not returning calls so I can't get my car back over there for them to figure out why it's suddenly shaking so badly when it didn't prior (when the engine was tapping). I've dropped not only 22k on this car at this dealership, but also another 4K to now replace the engine on a 4year old car. I would hope my cars functionality would improve with a new engine, not the case. Hopefully at some point we can figure this all out, but at this point I'm feeling pretty ripped off. For your sanity avoid this dealership, and Mazdas in general. I have no choice but to deal with all this BS, you do!! STAY AWAY! read more

I was very impressed with the customer service I experienced in mazda's service center! I dropped off my vehicle prior to my appointment time because I had work down the street and I couldn't bring it in later. After I drove up to the service drive I received a friendly welcome and was shown inside to my service advisor Lee Quintanilla. Lee was very friendly and accommodating definitely a cool guy! He walked me through my vehicle services being done and gave me a time frame of one and a half hours. After heading to work about an hour I get a call from another service advisor, Tabitha, telling me it was ready to go, also very friendly and nice! Originally they told me the service would be done after about an hour and a half but they got it done much sooner!! Picked up my car, they had it washed and ready to go. No problems with my car, itwas returned cleaned and untouched, everything was great! I definitely recommend them!! And I'm definitely bringing the car back for my vehicle services! read more

We spent over a month researching cars online and decided to test drive a Mazda CX-5 due to its high ratings (we wouldn't have even considered it originally had it not been for the Internet reviews as we tend to be Honda or Toyota people). We also test drove other comparable vehicles at other dealerships. We decided we liked the Mazda the best. Son helped us out. While he was crunching numbers for us, we told him we were going to got get dinner, discuss, and decide, which meant that we wouldn't be back that day due to the time. He continued crunching numbers, and was very professional with us, and never gave us the pressure to buy at that moment. We came back two days later ready to buy from him. Everything went smooth and he was great. It was definitely a pleasant experience. I also liked the fact that he handled everything except the last step of paying and paperwork. There was none of the, "I need to talk it over with my manager" stuff. He was the one we worked with the whole time. If you go in to Hine Mazda, talk to Son, he is great! read more

This review is for service and parts only. I was excited as Hine Temecula Mazda opened in 2007 raising the prospect for local Mazda service and parts. Unfortunate reality is that Hine Temecula Mazda delivers a service experience for folks with more money than brains. Hine marks up parts 40% over manufacturer's suggested retail pricing, and significantly pads service operation times. They apparently figured that clients don't have transparency into Mazda's suggested retail pricing, and customer's won't notice so why leave money on the table? Service personnel at Hine explain Mazda repair times outlined by Mazda's service time guide don't make provision for diagnostic time or test drives so its necessary for Hine to 'adjust' them. (Really??) Questioned concerning their +40% over MSRP parts pricing, Hine personnel explain that since they're a new dealer they must pay more for parts (huh???). A genuine Mazda oil filter offered at their closest competitive dealership for $4.95 costs $9.72 at Hine Mazda. I brought along a parts invoice for routine maintenance parts purchased from that neighboring dealer and requested that Hine roll back their 40% markup and match pricing but the response was 'no can do'. Mazda reimburses dealers according to Mazda's suggested parts pricing and labor operation times for warranty work. Compared with Hine's customer-paid parts and service pricing practices (MSRP +40%), warranty work offers low gross margin. This provides clear incentive to try to convert low-margin warranty work into high-margin, customer-paid work. With critique of Hine's predatory pricing practices; I appreciate that dealers are independent business people that are free to charge whatever the market will bear. Vehicle manufacturers can only suggest reasonable and fair pricing and honest dealers abide by suggested retail pricing that provides generous profit margins. Shortsighted retailers like Hine take a 'skin 'em whenever you can' approach. Informed customers need to decide if they are OK to accept overpricing practices or let their shoes do the walking. In any case, customers need to appreciate when they are gouged by a Mazda dealer, that the Mazda company did not gouge them; the dealer did, and Mazda has no direct control over dealer pricing practices. That's why its important that customers shop for parts and service just as they would for the vehicle purchase. Hopefully if enough customers say 'thanks but no thanks', Hine might rethink parts and service pricing strategies before they find empty service bays wondering where their customers went. Most customers who aren't treated fairly don't bicker, complain, or make a scene; they just DON'T COME BACK!. Hine is also fond of 'service packs' that push services that are not needed, and provide little to no benefit for customers other than bolstering Hine's gross margin. You do get your car washed, but it will prove to be one of the most expensive car washes you ever received. An informed consumer is Hine Temecula Mazda's worst customer. read more

Car buying experience was great except for they did not give me mats for the backseat ... There service department is a reminder of why not to go to the dealer for services first issue The belt on my Mazda 3 developed a squeaking after about 7 k miles after buying it I called of service and they said its a wear and tear item and its a glazed belt not under warranty... This is very understandable but I thought that this is under the 300 point inspection you were so jolly to tell me as one of your selling points .shouldn't they of seen a belt that has this .. The only good thing is that the service manager reduced the price from 170 to 72$ which is somewhat a resolution..... Second issue when I drove the car on the highway I noticed a vibration took it back to them they said a weight fell off bring it in Saturday for free..... Brought it in on my day off and was the first person in line 3 hours later I finally get my car back not once did they let me know how things were going . Also the same day I was going to universal studios guess what same problem I call them up and pretty much they are clueless and just rotated the tired I had to take it back again on another day off and they still didn't balance it right.... I took my car to America's tire co and they fixed it the first time . If these mechanics can't fix some weights on a tire how can they even do a oil change . Our recent experience at this dealership was great up until we had to deal with Jaime Perez. Our salesman was Garrett Garibay, he was pleasant but not over the top or phony. After agreeing on a price for our new Mazda3 and a lot of waiting around, we were told that Jaime (finance) was ready with our paperwork. As we sat in Jaime's office we immediately saw that no paperwork was ready. He began by asking us how long we intended to keep the car for, to which we simply replied by saying "hopefully a long time", he also asked how much mileage we planned on putting on the vehicle, we just said that we didn't know but since this was a purchase and not a lease, mileage wouldn't matter. We quickly realized that the odd questions were a way (not very slick) for Jaime to get to his next question...You've agreed to the 5year/60,000 miles warranty, to which we quickly replied that we hadn't agreed to any such thing. Long story short, Jaime said that it would be at least half an hour until the paperwork was printed up, we asked him if he could hurry the process along, he became very rude towards us, asking us if we had ever purchased a vehicle before, telling us that we didn't have to buy the Mazda if we didn't want to etc...We asked for a manager and requested to have someone else write up the contract as we didn't trust Jaime. Finally, Katie Doyle came into the office and immediately got to work, she saw that we weren't very happy and started preparing the contract to be printed. She quickly noticed that Jaime had added all these things that we didn't want for the vehicle, including that extended warranty and lojack, but forgot to factor in the sales tax, go figure! Within half an hour (remember Jaime said that it would take half an hour just to print everything), Katie had fixed Jaime's "mistakes", dealt with a computer issue, printed our paperwork and we had everything signed. So, like at any car dealership unfortunately, be aware who you deal with, read those contracts thoroughly, don't just look at the monthly payment, look at the breakdown! Bottom line, we are very happy with our Mazda and want to thank Garrett and especially Katie for making at least some of the experience pleasant. read more

I can't speak to the car buying process here as I purchased my CX-5 in Phoenix in April 2012. However, I moved back to California right around the time my second maintenance appointment was due. I made an appointment with Christina who was extremely friendly and pleasant. On the actual day of my appointment I again was working with Christina at the service desk. She was on top of everything and made sure to explain everything going on during my appointment. I didn't mind waiting for my car since their wait area is great. I was able to get some work done thanks to their wifi, coffee and multiple tables available. Although I didn't have to wait long...it was still nice to get some work done in the meantime. I would avoid this dealership simply because they made the process of getting insurance so difficult. When my insurance company requested the sales contract (so my vehicle was insured) they just denied them any paperwork. When I had paperwork faxed from the insurance company they said they "lost" all paperwork and would not hand it to me. Their unwillingness to help me in such a simple matter (just fax the paperwork it takes 2 minutes) makes me think they will not help me in much else. Avoid them! read more

I was sent an email last week that your employee who treated me unprofessionally when I wanted to purchase a car from John Hine is no longer employed there. And now you are asking me to come back and have my CX-5, which I purchased at Carlsbad, serviced since the employee has left. You mention that we could talk on the phone regarding the employee because it's a personnel issue. I dont think you can talk about employees whether on YELP, email or phone. I just question the dealerships motive in now contacting me to have my new car serviced at John Hine. The implication is the employee is gone and please come back because the coast is clear. Well, I wont do that. I was played with and you lost my business forever. In fact, I question why John Hine didn't contact me to listen to my concerns when I wrote the review over a month ago? Why didn't John Hine reach out to me when the employee I had problems with was employed? Why reach out to me after he left? You have some reliable and competent employees in service but based on my treatment when wanting to buy a CX-5 by the internet person and your unexplained delay in following up with my negative YELP review, I wonder if the poor customer relations could be more systemic than I thought. read more

I moved here from Virginia Beach, VA where I purchased my car at a Hall Mazda. 2 days after moving here in late September, I had to get my headlight fixed and had good service and it works fine. I had an oil change on the 12th and also mentioned on the ticket that my electronic system for the navigation and radio doesn't work well when it's cold and keeps restarting itself. The lady working said it would take about 2-3 hours for the diagnostic and could give me a loaner. I was on my way to SD so I asked if I could do it on the 19th and she said sure. She said she wasn't working that day but that she'll put in for me to be there around 9 something. I couldn't remember the time exactly so I called this morning and a different lady answered the phone and I told her I was inquiring about what time I had to drop my car off. She said I wasn't listed at all and then silence. I explained to her what the lady told me and she said "well she didn't put you in the system". Clearly she couldn't be bothered and lacked the customer service skill of "let me see what I can do for you" so I just said "alrighty then" and we hung up. Kudos to you, John Hine Mazda. That is the customer service we all aspire to have. I never had this problem back East where I bought my car, so maybe this is the norm out here. I will use a different Mazda dealership as I do not reward slack behavior by giving my business and money. I am not telling anyone to not go here as we all get treated differently at these places, but I am just posting my experience so if it ever happens to you, which if they keep the same lady that is working today, it will happen to you, then don't be as shocked as I was. I come through for my clients at work, because that's my job and that's what I'm getting paid to do, so I expect the same from other establishments. read more

I just spent a week going to dealerships looking for a car and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that between the ones I went to, this one was the best. They are super friendly and totally low pressure. Go see Byron, he is a sweetie, and their financing manager, Tracy, was super. She didn't push us on any array of unnecessary upsells. We did get the warranty and the gap coverage, but it was a total no brainer to us at a few bucks more a month it covers us bumper to bumper for just about the duration of the loan. We had already known we would be buying these and we actually had to ask for the gap coverage, because they didn't even try and push it on us. Like ALL dealerships, they did try to push a higher interest rate on us, but we negotiated it down to what we thought was fair, considering our not too stellar credit. I advise you to NEVER walk out of any dealership accepting their first offer on your interest rate. That's where some dealerships make their real money. Anyway. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my car..... and I am soo happy we went to them. We started out looking for a new car and ended up with a fabulous certified used car. Do your own car research of course, but if you want to just look at a few cars without getting hassled, this is a great place to start. read more

I take my Mazda 3 there for all the service, even though it has over 100k miles on it. I trust the Kristina, the service manager, to do the work that is needed and push a bunch of un-needed repairs. The service tech's are also very thorough and the workmanship is spot on too. The waiting area has free WiFi, coffee and snacks so I can pull out my laptop and be productive with work while I wait. read more

I drive 45 miles to have my vehicle serviced at Hine. They are unfailingly polite and do great work. The waiting area is quite pleasant.

We were met by Garrett. He was really obnoxious and full of himself. When we were in a test drive, he sat in the back texting the whole time, didn't tell us where to turn until the last possible second, making us have to fight traffic. He was extremely pushy too and wasn't honest with what he knew. The dealership had many models that we liked but not very many used. read more

Outstanding experience with Hine Mazda yesterday. When I spoke with Todd over the phone he gave me exactly what I was looking for. All the details with non of the nonsense. I ended up with a CX-9 and a Mazda 3. These are the 3rd and 4th vehicles I have purchased from Hine Mazda and I would definitely recommend. The dealership stayed open late on Saturday night to accommodate me, and that was appreciated very much by both myself and my wife. I will do as many reviews as they do poor and bad service. Yet my second review on them, and this time it is because their service department is a RIP OFF! We had already written John Hine off (meaning, we were not going to put any more money to them for business), but there was a recall on our Mazda and we were (finally) contacted about it. You see back story ... I inquired with the GM (Bill) about coming down about the recall. Of course he completely ignored that part of my email. And anyways ... my fiance took the car down for the recall and while there Tabitha (Tabitta) however you spell it, she told my fiance that we had chunks missing from our rotors. This dealership also had the nerve to say we had hot spots and striations. Bad move John Hine! Little did these crooks know, we had just had our rotors done on 05-23-16.My fiance was getting the recall fixed at John Hine on 06-06-16. They also told my fiance that our tire pressure was low (funny, because our light was not on when he took it there), however all of a sudden our tire pressure light was on when he left. My fiance was also told that our tireS were bad. Yes I meant to put the "s" in capital letters. Here is why ... we do have one low tired (treading), however the others not as low as they claimed which my fiance was told "dangerously low." We have been shopping tires in the past week or two so we can buy 4 new tires. One of the tires was fixed from a nail or screw or something I think it was and John Hine tried to tell my fiance that whoever fixed it put in an illegal plug (not true). Long story short, of course they had a long list of things we supposedly needed done and preferably by them. Later this Tabitha lady called my fiance trying to tell him that she never told "the person" that there were chunks missing from the rotors. My fiance said to her, that it was him she told. Her reply, "Oh." Since it was too late in the afternoon, my fiance took it back to the place we had our rotors done first thing the next morning, so he can look from the inside and take pictures. Of course, John Hine was full of shit and we have the pics to prove it, along with the paper they gave to my fiance with the supposed problems. The only thing they did not put on the paper about the rotors was about the chunks missing. That was what Tabitha verbally told to my fiance. My fiance has reported these crooks to the BBB and the Bureau of Automotive Repair. I am so sick of this place, their lack of customer service, and their disregard for people who are good people. We bought our car from their dealership in March 2015 and had intended on being life long customers with them until they showed their true colors. After Changing out my front shocks/struts on my 2011 mazda 3 I had a lot of vibration, and some noise coming from the passenger break. I took it to Mazda for balance and alignment. Mazda called me the next day telling me that the swing arm, bearing,knuckle,hub, and bushing on the passenger needed to be changed out costing $1094. I took it home because they are crazy. I went to harbor freight and tools bought $80 in tools, took off the front passenger tire, caliper, and rotor. After cleaning everything really good, putting it back together making sure everything was sitting flush it was back to running great with no vibration of noise from the break. when I change out the shocks the rotor was not sitting flush it had a lot of rust particulates sitting behind it. Very easy fix and cheap. read more

Terrible sales practices, run by liars. Tried to sell me a used 13 for more than I could buy the same package brand new at Romero. Took a chance by coming here, hoping for a good deal. Ultimately, drove 40 miles out of the way to be treated like i was an idiot. With my background in sales, and my boyfriend's in a luxury car dealership, we saw through their BS. We'll be buying new from Romero Mazda in Ontario. But hey - good on John Hine Mazda. Business must be good to turn away a done deal sale. read more

We got a swagger mpv van and for a vehicle service with synthetic oil, burns a hole in my wallet. At least they wash my swag after every service. This place is fairly new and clean. Remember to bring in your Mazda coupons when you visit here. John Hine Mazda is getting rich, one oil change at a time. I went to have my new Mazda 6 serviced for its first oil change and I am still reeling from the cost. $80 for a full synthetic oil change. I asked about any insentives or discounts and none could be used on first visit. I'm not sure that I will even return unless its an absolute emergency because I can't see paying that much for an oil change. I used to pay $29.95 for synthetic blend oil changes at Chevy, and even Browning Mazda only charges $49.95 for full synthetic oil changes. I like having my vehicles serviced at the dealership because it adds a permanent record to the carfax report and is great for resell, however I am not sure I want to throw away money like this each time I need an oil change. read more

Horrible and liars. Thats pretty much sums up the two purchase experiences we have had here. One of our cars we were promised floor mats.. They told me "oh parts is closed come back another day".. Oh ok no prob right? So after calling.. I lost track of how many times... I showed up and they gave me USED MATS! Yeah.. They pulled them out of a trade.. Washed them up and gave handed them to me..?? This was for a brand new car??! That was the first car we bought the second we were promised a full car detail as the detail guys went home for the night when we bought our car, again a brand new car,.. We came back a few days later and they said they didn't know what we were talking about.. We went back and forth and never got our detail.. So you be the judge.. read more

Just drove off the lot with our new CX-5 and then entire process was fantastic. We showed up the day prior with the plan to test drive and compare the Mazda to the other brands in its class. We were assisted by Paris, the Internet Manager, and he answered all over our questions and helped us through the 'check it out process'. After we decided the CX-5 was an option we casually discussed numbers and we were on our way. There was no pressure or a 'closing pitch' and we were out the door to think about it. Once we decided to move forward, we communicated via email (best for me while at work) to discuss the terms and pricing. The responses were prompt and the deal was made simple. Once agreed upon, the paperwork was ready for us and the finance process was just as easy. The whole time, it felt like we were dealing with 'normal people' operating a 'normal business'....nothing fancy or stuffy...or slick or fake about anything. What can I say John Hine Temecula Mazda is the only place I would ever consider taking my Mazda to or purchasing another. This place is run with the upmost honesty and integrity from the top down. The staff is knowledgable and goes above and beyond what I would expect. The best thing is my car is fixed correctly the first time and at a very reasonable price. Just purchased a 2014 Mazda 5 from the John Hine Temecula Mazda dealership. Worked with their Internet Manager, James Wine, throughout the entire process. Very professional, knowledgeable, and honest salesman...sounds a bit oxymoronic, I know... I was searching for a used mid-sized SUV, astonishing to learn I could get into a brand new Mazda 5 for the same cost. James was a tremendous help! I would recommend his expertise and this dealership to family and friends in the market for a new or used car. Whether or not you want to buy a Mazda or would rather buy from another source, it's definitely worth your time to talk with him beforehand. This dealership has really bad auto services. I always brought my car here for regular maintenance like oil change with tire rotation, repairs etc. I don't think they did full inspection on my car every time i get it serviced. Bought my cx9 2014 from them and started showing problems in the first 6 months and had to return it to them 4-5 times as much as i could remember for the same exact issues. Such a waste of time for my busy life. Then just last year it had it had problems again where it just stopped running while on the freeway. The same problem recurred for 3 times while i was going back and forth for their diagnostic and repair services. They kept giving me quotes for labor fees and parts to repair my car and telling me what their "computer car reader" found on my car. To cut it short, i spent $2k for all the tow fees, labor, parts as the problem still recurred. I asked them why my car's engine kept on dying and they kept telling me their computer cannot find anything wrong anymore after they fixed it the first time... the thing is they never manually inspect my car and only relied on their so called computer when the same problem went on over and over. Then my husband spoke to their general manager and that's the time they decided to actually go in my car and check the insides and found out finally that my gas tank needed to be replaced because of the debris that was stuck in there and that will cost me another 2k. See, the computer was not able to diagnose that. So I didn't wanna spend anymore money as I don't trust them anymore and not having that guarantee that my car will not break anymore after the repair. Well my car would bot work at all with no new gas tank so i was stuck buying another cx9 (2019) from them again. I couldn't trade it in to toyota dealership and that was i wanted to do but was impossible. I lost faith in Mazda because of this shady dealership. They have unreliable auto service and definitely incompetent mechanic. I'll never go back to them for any purchase and services. Husband and i had bought 2 cars from them and referred our relative to buy used car from them. I regret this now. They did not take care of my car and cost me so much money too on repairs and now i am on new loan for the new cx9. Had they treated my previous car well and honest on their services then i would have just waited till its loan paid off this year and gotten rid of car payments finally. Wow. We have been in the market for a new van and had a terrible experience at a Toyota dealership a few days ago. We were hesitant to visit another dealership so soon, but really wanted to continue looking for a new van. That being said, my wife has seen the Mazda 5 everywhere and wanted to see one in person. We headed down to John Hine Mazda and was met right away by Josh. Instead of writing a super-long list, I'll just say these guys were amazing. In a time when "ethics" is rarely taught or practiced, these guys shined with integrity. We didn't have to ask for anything that would have been in our favor, they did it all on their own!
