We've given this place a try 5 times now and 4 out of 5 times it's been the same, awful experience. We've come in as a family of 4 and just my husband and I. Today, was the last day we will ever come by and I will be filing a dispute for a refund. First things first, yes, it's AYCE but, you can't enjoy AYCE when there 20-30 minutes in between every serving. The worst part is, today, we waited 28 minutes for miso soup and an order of gyozas. They had one guy who was running around by himself! Meanwhile, yo had a female employee taking picture of herself and fixing her makeup in one corner and another set of employees just sitting and chatting. We got nowhere near what we paid for. We completely disregarded our final round as it had been 35 minutes. We were over it. The owners really need to hire more staff. This is strictly on the owners and no one else. read more

It was really just OK. Used to be able to find ayce sushi all over the place but now most places have stopped doing ayce. Thanks covid. Anyways, decided to get some sushi Tuesday afternoon. I got in strings 1:30 pm and there were a few tables already occupied but plenty of empty tables to choose from. Server was decent and asked me if I would be doing ayce. If course my fat ass was! Ordered an ice Matcha and it was fine. Went through the list of what was available and decided on a few things. Seaweed salad, some nigiri, rainbow roll, and dynamite roll. Seaweed salad came out first and I'm pretty sure it's from one of those giant tubs you can get at Costco, but not bad. Then the dynamite. It's supposed to be a mix of seafood like bay scallops, bay shrimp, and imitation crab baked with mayo on top of California roll and then a sauce drizzle. At least that's how I've had it before. This one seemed to only have bay scallops and some shredded onion with a lot of mayo and a lot of sauce. It was just ok. Next came the nigiri and rainbow roll. Got salmon, escolar, hamachi, smelt eggs, freshwater eel, cajun salmon, and cajun escolar. Overall just ok. Fish didn't taste the most fresh like they've been sitting in the cooler for a minute. Salmon didn't have much flavor and neither did the escolar. Escolar is my favorite and it's supposed to be kind of buttery because it's a high oil fish. This one was just kind of dull. Smelt eggs tasted like they've been in the freezer for awhile. The cut was average compared to the amount of rice. The rainbow roll was also on the same plate. It was fine, nothing special. I wish they did half orders so I didn't order many rolls but I also didn't see any other roll I really wanted to try except the giant salmon roll. Most rolls seemed to add spicy tuns or spicy California mix which I wasn't looking for today. Fish cuts on the rainbow roll were also just ok. Tuna had a bit of fishiness, which I don't usually order Tuna. Still had a little bit of room so ordered a salmon skin hand roll and some miso soup. Hand roll was fine, could've used some more herbs but overall good. Decent size. Miso soup was pretty fishy. Which I understand it's made from dried bonito flakes but I feel like it shouldn't be this fishy. Overall this place is fine. Will do in a pinch if looking for ayce sushi. read more

Not a big fan. I did the all you can eat. It is pretty flexible in the sense that my friend doesn't have to do all you can eat with me--this is what pushed it to a 3 star. This place was difficult to get the attention of the waitresses and even though they weren't busy very hands off on the service. Quality isn't the best. Personally would pay the same amount for less and better quality. Miso Soup was interesting to me. it was on the sweet side. IDK how i feel about that. Overall not horrid, but not the best. Review is for Wednesday, 9/20. Came for dinner and it's a nice little place. Had the All You Can Eat option and it did not disappoint. The fish to rice ratio was very generous although we wished they were a bit more generous with their sauces. Appetizers were great and the few rolls we tried were tasty as well, but we definitely loved the nigiri more than anything. Where this place falls short is the service. I would love to bump this place up to five star review but the service was atrocious. Waitress and food runner were doing a great job, but there was only one sushi chef working their dinner rush and it was very clear that he was in the weeds. There were about 10 other tables, one of which was an 8 top. Food was coming out quite slowly as he was inundated with order, but when it arrived the quality was superb. Be aware if you come on a week night and the restaurant is full with only one sushi chef working, you will have slow service. The fish was definitely not fresh, the salmon was the fishiest, balboa beach tasting, not in a good way, fish that I've eaten in a very long time. I was very surprised by the quality, being in OC. Again, not in a good way. I was hoping this place would be good based on the reviews but I'm not so certain about the validity of those reviews after we ate there. We got AYCE and were very hungry when we got there, but it was hard even ordering for each round because we were trying to avoid the salmon. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I'm writing this review in case anyone (parents of babies) have a rare moment to go out to eat and you're craving sushi and a nice experience, don't go here. read more

Was looking for a place that was open late and this spot popped up. Walked in and we were warmly greeted. The server was so kind and explained the menu to us, how the AYCE works, and the most popular dishes. The food was amazing and no one else was here so I really enjoyed the ambiance! I was very excited to try this place. All that excitement faded away pretty quickly. Me and a friend ordered the AYCE. It came out on a charcuterie board just like in the instagram video. But thats where all the hype came to an end. I could already tell by how much rice was attached to each piece of sushi that this was not going to be a good experience. Took the first bite, the quality of sushi was also not great. Nothing felt fresh, by the 8th piece i decided i'd be better off eating somewhere else. They had the nerve to try and charge me for the food i didnt want to finish. There was no way i was going to eat that garbage. They basically charged me $80 for the two AYCE and tried to charge me an extra $15 to take back the nasty food they brought out. Anyone thats thinking of trying this place. Just okay, all things considered. I feel like the potential is here , as the fish quality is good (not great), but the rolls had way too much rice. To the point where it was necessary to take 2-3 bites out of each roll section. Honestly was expecting a lot due to the reviews but honestly I was disappointed.... When my party got sat the table was SO STICKY and there was a split soy sauce container on the floor. Wow...太脏了哇. The waiter ended up wiping the table but it was still really sticky. It was so uncomfortable eating on that table because everything was sticking on to it. My party opted to get the AYCE sushi but I wouldn't even consider it AYCE. Each round had a 20 minute wait in between which was super annoying. The sushi itself was ok but nothing crazy. The sushi was a little warm and some had a REALLY fishy taste. The service was also just ok, they were pretty understaffed and it took a really long time to get a waiter. Something really annoying was when the waiter would give my party the smallest serving of ginger... we asked maybe 6 times and somehow each serving got smaller? 太便宜了哇. I came here to celebrate my little sister birthday with my boyfriend, and we walked in around 8:40pm and they close at 10:00pm. Considering we came here near their closing time, their fish was still VERY FRESH. The color and texture was just right. Their all you can eat menu is so worth it. On top of that, the lady that helped us was so nice and sweet, which made our overall experience wonderful. 10/10 recommend, would come back here again. Just ate at Hello Sushi - Placentia! We are walking out of here full and happy after an AYCE lunch. Friendly staff! Delicious food and presentation! Great variety to choose from! A La carte ordering is available but we wanted to try AYCE. We ordered a variety of appetizers, rolls, hand rolls, and nigiri. At one point, a long wooden board was brought out with all our selections. It was such a pretty presentation (bonus points for this). We each got mini ice cream cups to go and it was the perfect ending to lunch! I'll definitely be coming back for their dinner AYCE since it has an expanded menu. My friends and I were excited to see an AYCE sushi spot open up in Brea, but unfortunately our first visit will also be last. Starting from the basic dishes like ginger was iffy - it was unusually dark yellow in color and dry in taste. Miso soup was bland and flavorless. As the dishes came out one by one we gradually lost our appetite. Fishes were so dry, so obviously not fresh, and the fish to rice ratio was terrible. Side dishes like chilled tofu lacked in flavor and had weird grainy texture. Garlic edamame was also very bland and strange - garlic and butter did not simmer at all into edamame and we could taste each ingredient separately. Baked mussels tasted like mayo heated in old mussel juice and nothing else. Especially spicy salmon, albacore, and squid sushi were so fishy to the point it smelled bad. But what really broke the deal for us was the rice itself. Either the rice was old, or cooked with not enough water - it was slightly hard (like undercooked pasta) and it broke apart in our mouth and left such an unpleasant texture and aftertaste.
