It's the perfect opportunity to submit another 1-star rating. Afer finishing my powerlifitng competition, my friend and I were wavering on where to eat. So, we boiled it down to either this abomination or Macaroni Grill; unfortunately we chose the former. We ordered two appetizers and an entree each. The appetizers were the fried calamari and the crab cake, which we were told by the the waitress that were "very fresh". This was a complete lie. The fried calamari was almost the thickness of dental floss and was coated in a vast amount of deep fried flour. The crab cake was an insult to any decent crab cake prepared with fresh, vibrant jumbo lump crab. Again, the flesh was clearly frozen and you could not discern the crab flesh from the remainder of the crab cake filler. The corn chowder that accompanied the crab cake was also filled with frozen vegetables. For our entrees, my friend selected the swordfish and I had the grouper and red shrimp. His sword fish was entirely overcooked, and looked like as if a 4-year old had plated the dish. The grouper I had was sub-par and the fish itself was not cooked to the same consistency throughout. This restaurant had the audacity to serve frozen, tiny shrimp along with the grouper. This is completely unacceptable for a restaurant that charges $32 for this type of dish. I feel disgusted right now. Anyways, this was a learning experience. Never trust any airport restaurant unless it is throughly researched through yelp beforehand. read more

I visited this restaurant on Valentine's Day expecting something special. The view is very nice, you can look out over the runways and taxiways at the airport. Service was decent too but the food was only so-so and it is fairly expensive. There are many better places to eat and if you are eating at the airport eat at the Hyatt's other restaurant, McCoy's Bar and Grill , which is more casual, less expensive and the food is better. I work at the airport and have tried every restaurant and McCoy's is my favorite. read more

I probably never would have eaten here, except for the fact that long ago I had gotten a $50 coupon for the restaurant. I'm glad we went, although even with $50 off the bill I feel like we paid more than the meal was really worth. Of course, there's the requisite $12 bottle of wine being sold for $45 to start things off right. We then each ordered the 8 oz. filet mignon ($38 each) with two sides, asparagus ($7) and mashed potatoes ($7). We had both ordered our steaks medium rare, but while my wife's steak was cooked just right, mine was medium, approaching medium well. It wasn't even close. Surprising that two steaks of the same cut, of the same size, that were ordered at the same time at the same temperature could come out so completely different. The mashed potatoes were good, and the asparagus was some of the largest I've seen -- the sides were probably the highlight of the meal for me. Overall, not a terrible meal, just severely overpriced. I guess that's normal for a hotel restaurant though. Also, "Steak" is in the name of the restaurant. You should to be able to cook them consistently. read more

High prices for average breakfast food. When I first started traveling to Orlando for work I stayed regularly at the Hyatt. The Hemisphere is a nice restaurant found on the 8th floor of the hotel. They offer a great two story floor to ceiling view of the runway and the decor is very nice and open. The reason I am rating the restaurant a 2 is because for a continental breakfast (eggs, juice, muffin and maybe some floppy waffles) will set you back $23-$25. You can find a better breakfast elsewhere for a lot less in Orlando. read more

I checked into the Hyatt and the font desk recommended Hemispheres. After a long day of travel I was looking forward to a nice relaxing dinner. I walked in and the place had a lot of empty tables. I was told that I couldn't be seated until 8:45. It was 8:37 which made me wonder what the attitude was about. It's a hotel restaurant at an airport. You'd think they would cater to travelers. They then started with an amuse which was a nice tomato soup with a cold stake mini. grilled cheese. If you're going to act fancy, you have to pull it off. They asked if I wanted still or sparkling water. I said sparkling and they served me still. The black grouper was good. I asked for a naked potato with no sour cream and extra butter. It came with sour cream and no extra butter. Not a bad meal just a place a little full of itself and not able to live up to its view of itself read more

We were on our way to Jamaica and decided to stay the night at the Hyatt at the airport. This restaurant was in the airport so it was very convenient. First off the staff was very accommodating. We wanted to sit by the window and the only table open was an 8 top. I am sure if they were busier we might not have gotten that one but they let us have it. TIP: The booths along the back wall actually offer a better view than the tables along the window according to the server. The food was pretty good. We split a crab cake that was fresh and had good flavors. I got the wagyu steak and it was cook great with great grill flavors. Have the corn as a side. It makes a perfect bite. We shared some creamed corn and scalloped potatoes. It was a lot of food but that was ok since it was a little pricey. I was not blown away by anything but I also don't feel like it was over priced. It is an open area with high ceilings so if there is a large table, which there was when we were there, it can get loud. Still a great please that is convenient if you are staying in the hotel. read more

You don't have to go away to have a reason to go to the airport anymore! This restaurant is very nice with very nice people. The decorum is aviation in character as noted by the bar that is crafted from the shroud of an aircraft engine and many other aviation innuendo. Food is excellent and 'fancy-pants' and the team is very professional and nice. This is not an Inexpensive restaurant, however. If you eat and have drinks, expect to let go of a C-note or two. read more

If you have time to spend in the Orlando Airport awaiting a flight after a week's vacation, this is a quiet place to have a nice meal away from the food courts in the terminal. It's accessible before you clear security. You can sit in the lounge area with table service or within the restaurant itself (more limited hours). This hotel in general is just a fantastic option for people who have an early flight. The hemispheres restaurant has an awesome breakfast menu. With everything from a buffet for families or busy people to off the menu options for people who want something with flair. This morning we ordered off the menu and had a Belgian waffle with a berry sauce and a chorizo hash with avocado. Both were amazing and really left us shocked at how good it was! For airport dining this is a true gem. Prices were comparable to other hotel breakfasts but when you look at the quality it is a no brainier. I would say first of all that the service was outstanding. Our server was Ruben and he really made a concentrated effort to make sure all our needs were met. My strawberry salad was delicious and artfully plated. The vegetarian pasta was more gloppy than creamy. I would say I am happy they have vegetarian choices however they need to be considerably improved. My colleagues ordered snapper and salmon. The fish was indeed a photo taking opportunity as it was quite creative and interesting in appearance. Very convenient as an airport hotel and quite nice Tucked away in the corner. Would I return? Easily the best spot pre security at Orlando Airport... a little out of the way (floor 9 at the regency) in East terminal and far from the crowds. You can't beat the view or the staff. Who knew a hotel restaurant was going to be this good? On a rainy night during a stay at the Hyatt we stopped in because we didn't feel like driving anywhere. What a great spot! We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks and after looking at the menu decided to share one appetizer ... it was so good we ordered the next one on the menu ... and then the next one ... well, you get the idea. Each was excellent! The service from bartender Tyler (I hope I remembered his correctly) was outstanding. We also got to meet Chef Shelby who was personable, professional and obviously very talented. Yes, it's an airport restaurant. And yes, it's a hotel restaurant. But somehow, it has none of the usual drawbacks of either--it's reasonably priced, tastefully decorated, flavorfully unique, and absolutely delicious. They advertise it as an "escape" above the bustle of MCO, and honestly that is an entirely fair description. I'm a pretty high-maintenance customer between my celiac disease and vegetarianism, but they had a bunch of solid veg/GF options (get the cauliflower!) PLUS they bent over backwards to accommodate me when I asked about preparing the arepa gluten-free as well--the chef even came out to speak to me personally about the options, and checked in at the end to see how I liked everything (shocker: I loved it)! The service from the whole staff was top-notch throughout the experience and to top it all off, the view out the wall of windows was lovely. I never expected that I would have such a wonderful experience in any airport restaurant, much less one attached to a hotel. If you find yourself in MCO with a couple hours to spare, you have to find your way to eat at Hemisphere. read more

We came for the view, but we were blown AWAY by the food. Don't worry, we thought airport? Hotel? Not even a valid worry. My boyfriend took me here for Valentine's Day, and at first sight of the menu I was a little intimidated, I wasn't sure that anything would be gluten free, but our server talked to the chef and everything that we wanted was naturally gluten free!! We got the octopus for an appetizer and we have never tasted anything like it. For the main course we got the chef's seafood selection and the short rib, and my only complaint was that I wish there was an endless amount (and that's after noting they had pretty large portion sizes). It was absolutely amazing. And some of the things we were scared about turned out to really surprise us by how good it tasted! I know I keep saying how everything was amazing, but I just can't explain how great everything was. We came here for dinner since we had to stay at the Hyatt at the Orlando airport overnight to get ready for a Disney Cruise the next morning. The food was very well prepared for a hotel restaurant in the airport! But for the price, it had to be. This was not your Black Angus or Outback, the food was good quality and very tasty. Service was also very good and the complimentary fresh baked bread with butter accompaniments were totally delicious. This restaurant is located on the top floor of a hotel located at the airport. My expectations were low but the food was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is an upscale establishment that caters to the traveling business person with an expense account. The menu is classic steak house and it is pricey. The portions are rather generous. The server was very experienced and attentive. We enjoyed our chat broiled steaks very much. They were well seasoned and they were served at the requested temperature. After reading the great reviews, we decided to try Hemisphere. I agree with other reviewers that the views are amazing, but everything else really fell flat. Had we only been ordering drinks, I might have had a different experience. The food was really not good - at all - and I wish I would have stopped at their clam chowder, their signature dish, and the bread. We had the scallops and the steak. Neither one of us wanted to finish either dish. The seasoning of the scallops and curry did not go well at all with the pasta presented and made the entire dish taste fishy. I actually thought I might get sick. The steak was gristly and "sour". Things were overcooked, over or under seasoned, it was just a mess. Not at all what I was expecting, especially for the price. The waiter and staff also seemed like they were having an off night. Our waiter was snarky and it felt like no one wanted to be there. We travel out of MCO quite a bit, and I was hoping to find a place to enjoy a great meal before a flight. Sadly, this was not it. They try really hard, but the restaurant has a lot to overcome. All the surfaces are hard (glass or stone) and the noise level is intense, plus echos. Even a whisper on the other side can be heard throughout the room. By some terrible mistake, it was listed as a quiet restaurant - absurd. The view is spectacular, if you like to watch planes land and take off, and the menu is pretentious with really high prices, so expectations were very high. The dish I had was terrible - salmon on lentils. Awful combination, accompanied by rock hard root vegetables - might have been blanched purple carrots? My companions seemed less unhappy with their choices. The service was really good, but I felt so sorry for the help. They will ruin their hearing in that place. read more

Went here for dinner one night last weekend, as we were looking for a good meal. The staff treat it like a fine dining establishment and it's got a great view of the airport, but that's about it. Prices - Well, they're outrageous for what you actually get - cost $200 for 3 adults to eat dinner (with 1 beer each). The service - well, I am not sure where our waiter was most of the time. Once our order was taken, he disappeared. Our food was delivered by the kitchen staff. We waited :45 mins until AFTER we finished eating, to finally ask another waiter to go find ours and that we wanted to leave. Our drinks were completely empty, the table was full of plates and were just sitting there for this entire time. I've gotten better service from the DMV. The food - My wife and I ordered the Filet Mignon, medium-rare. It was cooked completely through and tasted like cardboard. I may have sent it back, but remember, our waiter pulled a Houdini. When our waiter finally returned, he apologized for being "busy", but we were his only table. He had already discounted 10% off the bill, which I never asked for and found a little insulting. Perhaps they're used to guests complaining about the service and default to doing this - who knows. Save yourself the trouble, time, and money, and go eat anywhere else but here. read more

However, the condescending hostess saw that we had two children in our party and began listing reasons why we couldn't be seated without reservations. You get what you pay for in life and that is the difference between airport food and this Hyatt restaurant too. Excellent relaxing atmosphere and very good food, and is 4 floors above the airport hustle and noisy bustle. And if you stick with one of the sandwich plates (I had the BBQ pork sandwich) you can keep the cost more reasonable and have economic room for a good glass of wine too. It is well worth it to enjoy a peaceful quality meal. Of course all of that only happens if you have the time because you arrived at the airport early and/or you flight is seriously delayed. Still, this is one restaurant that makes going to the airport early worth your while. Highly recommended. read more
