Where do I begin? First, I caught Brian in two separate lies on my very first day there, checking out a mini. Then, I thought it was EXTREMELY unprofessional when he decided to edit a legal document by adding the hand-written words "refund I promise" at the bottom of the page. I have never seen a reputable car dealership demonstrate such shady practices in an effort to secure a deposit. Next, during our meeting on Thursday, I stressed the urgency and that I would need to pick up the car on Sunday. He promised it would be ready since all it needed was a set of tires and an alignment. There was loan trouble on Saturday, no ones fault, just discrepancies in the policies of State Employees Credit Union and Hendrick Mini. So I came back first thing Monday morning and was informed that it wouldn't be ready until Wednesday. I asked for, and was given a loaner. That was nice, I appreciated that. Maybe I should change my rating to a 1. Well, no, everything else was so bad that I think it'll stay a 0. So Wednesday rolled around and I hadn't heard anything from the dealership so I contacted Brian and he said that the car isn't ready and he doesn't know when it will become available, call back tomorrow. So I got in touch with Brian again on Thursday and he told me that it might be ready by the weekend. Now I was getting pretty frustrated, Mini sells like 3 models of cars and they all take the same tires. It takes like 30 minutes to mount and do an alignment, how could it possibly take over a week to do what he said needed to be done? Well I had a hard time trusting Brian given the lies that I'd already picked up on, so I decided that I should speak to the manager. He dodged my call but the nice girl at the front desk told me that Brian was available and I could speak to him about my concerns. I politely informed her that I would like to speak with someone who would be more honest, and straight forward than Brian because I was ready for answers. Were there other repairs being made that he just didn't tell me about? So I got in touch with Cody, who's cool. I spoke with Cody at 1:30, explained my concerns and frustration, and he politely told me that he'd figure out what's going on and call me back in 30 minutes. Well he did, thank you for the professionalism Cody! However, he informed me that a cup holder was broken and that they were waiting on the replacement. Cody from the finance office could give me a straight answer and tell me what I was waiting on but my own salesman, Brian, had been lying to me all week. So Cody said it would be ready first thing in the morning. Now, side note, I had noticed on their website that they were offering home delivery due to Covid or something. So I asked Cody if it would be possible to deliver the car to my work since I wouldn't be available to pick it up until Saturday. He obliged. Again, thanks for the great service Cody! He deserves a 10, but Brian and the rest of Hendrick dragged their score to a 0. So Brian called me the next morning (Friday) and said the car was going to be detailed and it would be delivered shortly after. Well at about 4:00 in the afternoon, and still no contact from Brian, I decided to send an email. I should have started a paper trail long ago. My bad. Lesson learned. Well, no response from Brian but a few minutes later I got a call from Nicholas saying he was on his way with the car. The email must have worked! So Nicholas delivered the car and took off as soon as we exchanged keys. That was fine, I think his only responsibility was to get it there. Well while checking out the car, I realized that... wait for it... the broken cup holder was never replaced. Really?!? I was told that I had waited a week so that the cup holder could be replaced and they never even replaced it? Then, a few days later, my coworkers came in and gave me a hard time for driving around with an expired tag. How's that possible? I only got the car 5 days ago. Well, Hendrick Mini wrote the date of delivery on the expiration line. They delivered my car on 06/11/21 and that's the exact same date that they wrote as the expiration date. The temporary tag is supposed to be good for 30 days. All you have to do is read the lines on the paper. Is the first time you guys have sold a car? Well, I guess that's about it. I never even bothered to follow up because Brian is a liar and the manager dodged my calls and ignored my email so I guess it's my problem now. Thanks guys! You got the car off your hands with absolutely zero regard for customer satisfaction, honesty, or good sales practices. I would rather drive to Canada for my next car than deal with any Hendrick dealership again. read more

Very poor experience here. Felt like we were judged for our outward appearance. First thing you learn in sales is not to make assumptions on someone's wallet based on how someone appears. I went to have my key FOB programmed for my Mini. First of all, it took 2 hours and went to the service desk twice to ask why so long. The response was they were having issues programming the FOB. Then when it was done, they took it through the car wash (41 degrees outside). The person who took the car through the car couldn't drive a standard and I saw him stall the car, squeal tire. He eventually went to service manager to drive car around. I was furious as to why would you have a person take a car through a car wash who cannot drive a standard. The other service tech said he saw him drive standards before and it must be something with my car. NOT. I was talking to service manager about my dissatisfaction and he turned to my husband to explain the car fob. He TOTALLY dismissed me. When I called him out he started yelling at me and I said I wanted to speak to his supervisor. I explained everything to him. Then was get an email that they took a video for service recommendations. I did not ask for that. They took time to video the car. I WOULD NEVER BUY A CAR FROM THEM OR HAVE MY CAR SERVICED BY THEM. THEY ARE NOT HONEST. read more

My wife and I recently went car shopping when our 2006 Mini Cooper required an expensive repair (cracked catalytic converter). My wife loves Mini Coopers but was hesitant to buy another one given some of the repair issues we'd encountered since she bought her 2006 one. Car shopping can be either very enjoyable or very stressful depending on the circumstances - in this case, it was extremely stressful because we weren't ready to purchase another car. We had several choices: repair the 2006 Mini, buy a used Mini with less miles, buy a new Mini, or go with another car altogether. None of these options was very appealing. We started our car shopping at Hendrick Mini in Charlotte, NC. In the past we've had excellent service from them whenever we need to take our 2006 Mini in for repairs or service, so as we were thinking of buying another Mini this was a logical choice. Our salesperson was Cody Martyna, and this review is mainly focused on our interaction with him. Perhaps most important to other Mini buyers, Cody owns an older-model Mini with easily over 200,000 miles; in other words, you're talking to another enthusiast who wants to hang on to his car. He immediately understood our dilemma on whether to repair or get another Mini. Cody easily spent 4 or 5 hours talking to us the first day and giving us test drives. He is extremely pleasant to deal with (which I'll get more into later.) We didn't feel pressured, although I know he was trying to make a sale. By the end of the day, we hadn't reached a decision and left the dealership without deciding what we needed to do. The next day we decided to car shop for a Honda Accord. (We've had very good experiences with Honda and Hendrick Honda. Yes, I guess we like Hendrick.) Um, we didn't quite have the experience we had with Cody. Our salesperson was somewhat annoying. (At one point he told me I needed to drive faster in the test drive of the Accord.) We liked the Accord, but not necessarily the interaction with the salesperson. After we left Hendrick Honda, my wife and I went back to Hendrick Mini to get some prices. We told Cody we were only going to spend 15 minutes with him, which turned into another 6 hours. (I hope it is apparent how difficult the decision was in whether to get a new car or not.) Cody was fantastic during the entire process. He is low-key, doesn't pressure you, and has a great sense of humor. Car buying is awful - AWFUL - because so often you get really poor salespeople. This is not the case at Hendrick Mini at the time of this writing. I observed the interactions of several other sales people with customers, and they all seemed great to work with. Cody, though, we were especially impressed with. To conclude, we ended up buying a 2015 Mini Cooper S and could not be happier with our choice. Everybody was wonderful to deal with at Hendrick Mini - we're fans of this dealership and the service department. As far as sales, I highly recommend using Cody to choose your Mini. I am a criminal defense attorney from Raleigh, NC and I recently purchased a 2014 Mini Cooper S Hardtop from Jhoda Edquist, sales manager at HENDRICK MINI. I was super excited to be one of the first people to own the NEW Mini Cooper S - It had just come out in early April. Thinking back, I probably should have seen the red flags - I was negotiating the EXACT same car from 2 different dealerships with Hendrick Mini being closer to my home. Their Sales manager, Jhoda Edquist, told me "no dealerships are discounting the newly released Mini. Some are even charging premiums." He essentially called me a liar when I told him that I had received a better offer from another dealership. So, after hearing that from Jhoda, I told the other dealership that I would be heading their way. As it turned out, Hendrick Mini was on my way to the other dealership so I emailed Jhoda and attached a copy of the offer from the other dealership - NOW, all of a sudden, Jhoda agreed to the deal! I told him when we would arrive and I confirmed that I would take the car. MORAL - YES YOU CAN GET A DISCOUNT! They are LIARS. BUT STILL DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE. WE WAITED OVER 5 HOURS - Supposedly the car needed "PROGRAMMING." Yet later we find out after we left that the car had 193 miles on it - It must have been used as their demo car for the new MINI Launch Event. How could it need "programming" now - didn't it work before. We were kept in the dark - Then the car was delivered to the front IMMEDIATELY see SWIRLS in the paint on the hood (note: I had not even walked around the car yet) - Jhoda happened to be outside and saw the same issue. He said "that should not occur with a brand new car. We'll take it back to detail and have it out in 15 minutes." I said "really" He said "yes" SO again we wait --- and wait ... and then about 35 minutes later!! The car comes back out front ... At this point, my friend who came with me was super tired. I was tired. So, I took a quick look at the hood - it looked better == not perfect but at this point, I just drove away. BIG MISTAKE. As I drive down the road, I also notice that the alignment is off. It pulls hard to the right. Fed up and tired we just drive back to Raleigh. I called Jhoda who told me to take it to the Raleigh Mini dealer. Wasted 2 hours there - no alignment specs out yet b/c cars don't arrive not in alignment. DAH. As for the paint issues, after inspecting the car further, it became apparent that the detail job at Hendrick was awful - SWIRLS all over the car. Sales mgr Jhoda keeps telling me that he can have it detailed --- BUT this is NOT what you expect when you buy a NEW car - NEW MEANS NEW - It should not need a complete resurfacing. It should NOT be out of alignment. I buy a car yearly, and this has been the worst experience ever. I requested that Hendrick Mini agree to trade this MINI in for a new one that comes right off their truck. I even agreed to pay a some money but not "SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS" as Jhoda requested. That's crazy. I'll pay something for the loss of value of the Mini that I have now - HOWEVER - the condition of the MINI that they sold me is entirely their fault. Purchased a new Mini in November, which is now our 2nd Mini total. The dealership was offering a 3k rebate when we made our purchase which was outstanding. We are USAA members and asked about that discount(which was how we set up our test drive) and the salesman told us that we could only have one discount or the other. Sounded reasonable until the salesman asked us for our offer code from our bank. He told us he wasn't using it he just needed it for his records? Ok, that sounded like he was using it if you ask me! Upon completing the paperwork the sales manager had us sign everything and told us we were finished. However he never asked for our down payment! We actually called him out on it and he joked about how bad that would have been had we left. Of course we are honest people and would not have done that. After leaving the dealership we did our part at the tax office as we were instructed. We called our sales person multiple times to ask exactly what we needed to send back in order to get our plates, yet no one ever returned our call!!!! (the salesperson asked us to please fill out the review we would receive by email asking about our purchase process and in fact told us their dealership has won several awards for customer service and that if we weren't going to give them a perfect score to please not bother filling it out at all)To make a long story short we finally got the info we needed after numerous phone calls and sent out paperwork Dec 21st from Lexington, SC. Our tags expired on Dec 23rd! Called yesterday to find out that apparently the dealership didn't receive our paperwork until Dec 30th? I'm waving the BS flag on this one! Mail from Lexington to Charlotte should be next day! Now we can't drive our vehicle until we get our plates. All because of Non-existent customer service. The manager my husband just spoke to said we should be getting our plates any day. They should have over-nighted us the tags after this! If I could give zero stars I would. One star implies they actually have a form of customer service. Basically...brand new vehicle...dealership dropped the ball and now it's setting in the garage. You should be better than that! My wife has an '06 Mini Cooper that she bought from an individual in '08 with low mileage. Since then, we have taken it to Hendrick Mini for service. In December, 2012, we took it in for routine maintenance and found out that there was a problem with the transmission drain pan. We don't perform any of our own maintenance on the car, so we were unsure as to how it happened. Let's just say that the service adviser, Dana F. and the shop foreman made it right for us and put my wife's little baby back in factory condition. We definitely had a positive experience with them and plan to continue doing business with them as long as we own the car. The service department treats you very fairly and we would recommend them to anyone looking for good technicians. read more

He said that I could sit down and start the paperwork. WOW - So, I guess if I just continued to sit in the lobby, it would have never gotten done. Paperwork done, still nothing on car. I finally tell Jean that it's getting really late and we need to be on our way. I again ask, what is wrong with the car - I'm starting to think that this may be a very bad idea. Finally after 5 hours, Jean drives the car out front. I take a quick look and IMMEDIATELY see SWIRLS in the paint on the hood (note: I had not even walked around the car yet) - Jhoda happened to be outside and saw the same issue. He said "that should not occur with a brand new car. We'll take it back to detail and have it out in 15 minutes." I said "really" He said "yes" SO again we wait --- and wait ... and then about 35 minutes later!! The car comes back out front ... At this point, my friend who came with me was super tired. He tells me to take the car to the Mini dealer near me. I schedule an appointment for the alignment. AS for the paint swirls, he wants to arrange to have it detailed again. I said that I do not feel like I purchase a NEW CAR - I purchased a DEMO car. My normal rule is to take a car right off the truck so that there cannot be any swirls. But besides that, something was going on in service for it to take 5 hours for the car to be prepped. Since it had 193 miles on it, how could it just need "programming?" As requested, I took the car to FLOW MINI in Raleigh to have the alignment checked. After 2 hours, they managed to make it better but because the car was JUST RELEASED, MINI had not provided the alignment specs for the cars yet - Makes sense though because as the head tech said to me - MINI did not expect cars to arrive from the factory out of alignment. As for the paint issues, after inspecting the car further, it became apparent that the detail job at Hendrick was awful - SWIRLS all over the car.
