I walked in with my mom intending to order the BBQ Brisket sandwich I saw on the menu outside but then I started REALLY looking at the menu when we sat down. That's when I saw it! They had a classic American Cheeseburger and it was calling to me. I'm a sucker for a classic cheeseburger so I changed my order and was soooo glad I did! That American Cheeseburger was fantastic! Literally melted in my mouth and was cooked to perfection. My mom walked in intending to order the prime rib dip sandwich she saw on the menu outside but then totally followed my lead and changed up her order as well. Once she spotted the Frisco burger on the menu, it was game over. And boy was she VERY happy with her change up as well. Not going to lie, I was happy she changed her mind because that thing was HUGE! Each half was easily the size of my American cheeseburger and the American cheeseburger wasn't small at all. With that said, I was more than happy to "help" her finish off the Frisco burger. Definitely coming back here with friends if I'm in the mood for an amazing burger. I'm hoping the manager reads some of the bad posts on Yelp. My husband and I came yesterday to have lunch. We were in the neighborhood, so we thought we would stop and have lunch. I ordered the chicken Club sandwich. We never mind paying for a decent meal, but this was not even close to decent. The chicken was dry and very small. The avocado slice was so small that you could barely see it. Then the sourdough bread was soaked with butter. It was gross! My hands were so greasy. I left most of the sandwich. It didn't taste or look appealing. My husband ordered a well-done hamburger, and it wasn't well done. If a restaurant is going to charge higher prices for sandwiches, then make them worthwhile. I'm soooo glad I found Hennessey's! Rainy, cold Sunday night in December, I'd first tried Mayfield next door, to be told at 9:31p they close the kitchen at 9:30. They have their own review regarding this, no need to gripe here. First off, the staff and locals were very friendly and genuine. I felt right at home. I was driving, so I didn't get any drinks, but I did get the Ahi Poke plate, at the recommendation of the bartender. It was fantastic! The fish was fresh, the crunchy wonton things crispy, and the peanut sauce on it was just right, served on a bed of mixed greens, also fresh and crisp. I can't wait to come back with friends, hopefully my dog, and check out the patio on a warm night. read more

Great food and service. My favorite location is the one in San Juan Capistrano. On Tuesdays they have the buy one get one free burger deal which is delicious. Good for drinks only thats why 2 stars and not 1 star. We live local and have had good past experiences at the bar. But not today. Ordering food to go was a huge disappointment. The server confirmed our order multiple times, yet order was wrong and they had to remake the sliders for my picky kid. Not to mention my order was wrong but I didn't want to deal with them to fix it. The manager overheard and brought me tomatoes to fix my order but I don't want cold tomatoes on my grilled cheese. Though I appreciate the effort. They also forgot my soup which I asked for and got but the biggest bummer was when got home there was no salad dressing. Lastly, the sliders are just a cut full size burger. For the prices they charge, they should make the sliders. I will go back for drinks but never order food to go, bartender does not write down order, this is where the mistakes started. I knew it would be wrong. read more

Stopped by for breakfast and drinks during our annual trip out here and had our same favorite waitress from last year, Leah!! Food and drinks was great and the service was even better! She got coloring paper and crayons for the kids without asking and got our orders in quickly. Her hospitality is genuine and makes our experience there extra special! My wife, daughter, son-in-law and I visited here on Tuesday and sat outside on the patio on a really pleasant evening. We ordered the the two-for-1 Tuesday burger special. My daughter, son-in-law and I had the Irishman burger and my wife the mushroom Swiss burger. The burgers were big, messy (the way a good burger should be), very filling and delicious and served with wonderful fries. The Irishman burger had Irish cheddar, Irish bacon, Irish whisky glaze and crispy onions. The mushroom Swiss had sauteed mushrooms and Swiss cheese. The service was great: a very friendly waiter took our order, served our order promptly. And the price of the burgers on the two-for-1 Tuesday in this day and age is an incredible deal. Lots of empty tables and tables that needed to be bussed. We walked in and 2 employees looked at us and just continued to talk to each other. I walked closer to them and they just said sit anywhere. We sat there for over five minutes and no one came over, so we decided to leave. By the time they walked to us we were already at the door. I have been a resident of San Juan Capistrano for 30 years now and I consider Henneseey's my "go to" spot whenever my family and I go out. While in recent years, many of the town restaurants have catered to the tourists I return to Henneseey's again and again for a few reasons. The food is great and has remained so reasonable for us locals. The ambiance, especially if you enjoy the outdoor patio , is so friendly and fun. Lastly, the service. The staff is fantastic and I especially want to mention Robin, whom I faithfully request whenever my family and I dine here. Me and my friends came here for breakfast yesterday around 930 am. We were seated immediately and the server was nice. My friend ordered a Bloody Mary, but when it came it did not come with any celery or olives not even lime, so she was a little disappointed. The avocado toast was okay but there was only a smear of avocado spread. The egg scramble with cheese, I requested cheddar and sour cream was yummy! Very good.
