We went to the restaurant on a nice Saturday, placed our order for food ( sat for ) 25 minutes and they said that the machine that prepare the food was messed up, however the couple that came 30 Minutes after us received their food, and was eating. We were visiting Hermosa Beach and wanted lunch, so after walking on the pier continued on Pier Square and Hennessey's Tavern looked interesting. We told the hostess we needed two and she asked us if we wanted to eat upstairs and my wife said yes. There was no waiting at 12:30, so upstairs we went. Leslie was our server, and it pretty much seemed that she was the only server upstairs where there were a bunch of tables with a nice view of the beach and the ocean. Nevertheless, she quickly brought us a menu and shortly thereafter a vodka lemonade (very good and only $6 and an iced tea and then we ordered. My wife really liked her salad, especially after Leslie brought a different dressing as the original, on the side as requested, was too tart for her. The fish in my fish and chips were very good, as was the cole slaw. I asked for my fries well done, and most were well more than well done, so I ate maybe a third of what was on my plate. Overall a positive lunch and we would definitely consider going back next time we are down in Hermosa Beach (to be real, we probably haven't been there in a couple of years, partly because of covid and partly because it's usually over an hour drive. read more

Wouldn't order it again, though. * buffalo wings ($13.50) - while the chicken on the bones was a bit skimpy, I'd order these again because they weren't overcooked. Comes with a side of celery, fries, and Ranch dressing. The rest of my group also ordered... * fish 'n' chips ($16.75) - no complaints * kids grilled cheese ($6.25) - she enjoyed it * kids mac & cheese ($6.25) - the other kiddo ate all of it * bottled Miller Lite (2 @ $6.50 each) - not me, my brother *eye roll* LOL * Patron silver shots (2 @ $11) - for all the work my brother did on my house, it was worth it * Sprite ($3.50) Other miscellaneous, yet, important aspects: A mask is required to get a table. Social distancing is mostly in effect. The friendly staff has both masks and shields on. Blake, our server, was a cool guy. Very attentive. Use your phone for QR code menu. The restrooms were mostly decent and equipped with soap, hot water and paper towels. I resist 5 stars because the bar takes a good while to get drinks out sometimes even at low capacity. This restaurant is in the middle of the entrance of the beach and it is stepsfrom the sand, which is really cool. I ordered the club that added roast beef and came with fries. The sandwich was a little dry because there wasnt much dressing and the bread tasted like it came straight out the bag. I asked for mustard but only dijon was available. It was a dry bite for lack of better words but the pickles helped. I got spears, tasty. I ordered the lagunitas beer for happy hour and that was good. Great time at Hennessey's in Hermosa Beach this afternoon. Since it is Tuesday it's "buy a burger and get one free". I mean burgers are not cheap anymore. The burger plus fries was around 15 bucks so getting one free was fantastic. I was on my bike and had no way to carry it home. But the server, Piper, came over to help with a big smile on her face. She packaged this thing up perfectly in the box, taped it shut, and taped it again in a paper bag (see picture). I got it home safely for a great lunch for tomorrow. Thanks! read more

The $18 Mac n Cheese was drowning in cheese.. not enough noodles. So it was like cheese soup. Server did nothing to help with the situation or ask why. The brisket sandwich was amazing. Ordered another and there was salt on the rim. Location is amazing right at the Pier and Strand in Hermosa Beach. The food is solid and the views amazing from the rooftop dining deck. The service can be of varying quality, but have had some really awesome and engaging team members. Went this week on a Tuesday and enjoyed the monthly burger special, which was a turkey burger with cranberry sauce and stuffing (Thanksgiving!). It was delicious and on Tuesdays, buy one get one! It can get crowded and loud in this prime location, but more mellow in off hours/off season. Come enjoy this local gem! read more

Did I say location, location, location. Most amazing location in the South Bay. Whenever I have guests in town this is my go to place for entertaining. It tends to be a memorable experience for out of towners. Their upper outdoor deck has an amazing view of the Hermosa pier and the ocean. The fish batter isn't a light as it could be, the fries are fine, the cole slaw is fine. You have to ask for malt vinegar. Overall it was fine, not great not horrible. Ambiance: BEST EVER. Adjacent to the pier and the bike path. The people watching is just amazing. Go for this alone! Guinness : the bartender knows their stuff. Pulling a pint of Guinness isnt like pouring a bud. They end the pour with a 3 leaf clover in the head. This may seem insignificant, but it takes extra effort and they do it for every pint. Extra points (and tip) for that. It was the reopening after covid. Very busy. I was recommended the fish and chips since that was one of their most popular dishes secondary for the Dublin Burger. The fish and chips weren't anything special. Very dry actually and not flavorful. Service was delayed but I understand it was very busy since the restaurant was reopened. The location is great and the upstairs provides a fantastic view. The service was excellent and the ambiance was pretty good. The first issue that would have made almost everything else not important was that the sun in the afternoon was blaring on almost every table until sunset. This is easily fixable with sunshades but for some reason there were none - only what looked like wind blockers. I suppose with the view, if they made it more comfortable to sit there, people would stay too long. The drinks tasted slightly watered down but since we all ordered martinis, we wrote it off as shaken melted ice. I still caught a nice buzz after one drink (on an empty stomach). The burgers were perfectly cooked but my blue cheese and bacon burger was more like blue cheese dressing and bacon bits. It wasn't bad but also not great. I chose this place to watch the Superbowl when it was being played in LA and the Rams were playing Bengals, so very busy area for the home team! Although it was fairly packed, I was able to find a spot at the upstairs bar, which had perfect views of the beach as it was the closest restaurant to the beach and pier. The bartender was busy but very sociable and helpful. I did eventually order some nachos, which I devoured fairly quickly. The day was perfect to sit outside and the patrons were all friendly, even though I was a Bills fan and not rooting for the Rams. Hennessey's Tavern remains a must stop location when I'm down in Hermosa Beach. It's ideally located at the end of Pier Avenue, just across the strand from the Hermosa Pier. It has outside and inside seating, with a great 2nd floor patio which overlooks the strand, epic people watching. This past weekend we had the pleasure of being served by Kento on the 2nd floor patio. He did a great job making sure we were sufficiently hydrated and nourished. We have always enjoyed their Bacon & Blue Cheese Burger, which was again delicious. For those needing to address a sporting event, they also have several inside televisions. Had breakfast here on Sunday morning with some friends and family. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs with potatoes and sourdough toast. The restaurant was packed, but our food arrived fairly quickly. Let me say at the outset that our server Molly was terrific. The food, well that was a different story. The eggs were cooked perfectly and were enjoyable. The toast was fine as well. The potatoes looked like they were poured out of a bag that was purchased in the frozen food section of the local grocery store. They were flavorless and really unappealing. The corned beef hash, while it looked good, was also bland and quite disappointing. Overall, it was a very lackluster meal. Would I go again? Maybe because of the location. Went to take my friend today, walked in, sat down, was given a menu and literally wasn't acknowledged after that. Sat there for over 20 minutes while everyone got helped but us. No drink order, no water, nothing. The bussers, front of house, sees me but literally worse service ever. I have better service when it's jam packed. I was visiting a friend who lives here and was excited to take me and my family here for dinner since it's right along the pert and you can sit outside. As soon as we walked up to this place, I knew I wouldn't be satisfied with this place. It reminded me your typical chain bar food restaurant. We put in some appetizer orders right away and got edamame and nachos. Hey cane out promptly. The edamame was good but the nachos were not very exciting. The chips alone were so boring and the toppings weren't anything special. For dinner I had the fish tacos which were bland and very unflavorful. I didn't like the black bean side dish. Other meal at our table included the burger sampler, a cheeseburger, spinach artichoke dip and the ahi tuna tacos. Everyone said the meal was just okay. This place sucks. The wings were literally cold. We returned them. My girlfriend ordered chicken sandwhich, she got chicken, a single cheese and buns, not exactly the chicken sandwich you'd expect. The blue moon glass had dirt and smelled or tasted weird; "paloma" that was far from advertised, lemonade that was water and lemon. The fries were on point though, the only thing that came out right. If you're ok with mediocre food then that's fine, but I won't go back there. To top it off, the manage has his head all the way up his *ss, should not be a manager at all. I was there earlier today and I wished to order the Smashburger you have advertised on the table. The advertisement said Thursday Smashburger six dollars and it said regularly priced $16.50. So I ordered and they said they only have that Smashburger on Thursdays . The ad didn't specify that you only sell the burger on Thursday because it said the regular price is $16.50 I think you should offer that burger every day on your menu and do a six dollar Thursday special if you want. I was not able to order the Smashburger, but they did give me a version of it without the sauce.. was just ok . The ambience was nice as a beach side cafe with ocean views would have. read more
