Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Made a reservation for dinner and our table was ready upon arrival. Reservations are best as the restaurant was full upon arrival. Parking was available in the private lot with a security guard or on the nearby streets. Henry's Cuisine is featured in the Michelin guide. The vibe of the restaurant was typical of a Vietnamese Chinese restaurant. It was bright inside and tables were mostly separated with tacky table dividers... The ordering process was unique. Chilean sea bass was sold out and we were told that pea shoots were not in season, despite seeing them at the grocery store next door... Started off with the signature lobster noodles. The staff brought out a lobster and claimed that it was 4.1 lbs. Lobster was priced at $40/lb. Noodles were a $20 surcharge. The lobster dish was gigantic and perfect for sharing. Flavoring was good and the e-fu noodles were decent. Portions were generous too. The seafood soup was okay, it felt more like an instant soup vs the traditional soups that were made overnight. The ong choy with beancurd was a gigantic portion and well stir-fried. The Vietnamese style filet mignon was tasty. Beef was tender, fragrant, and flavorful. Service by the staff was good. Meal ended off with a complimentary dessert. ~$75/head after tax and gratuity for dinner.
Returned with family for the delicious house special lobster with added longevity egg noodles - noodles pronounced ee mein. A server brought out the live lobster in a bowl to show us. The poor thing tried to climb out of the bowl. We also had the water spinach, black tiger prawns (expected them to be bigger) with glass noodles and deep fried salted pig's feet. Everything was delicious. Go early to avoid the crowd and ensure free parking on the lot. Great service. Nice ambiance with tables in cubicles.
This spot is one of those restaurants that feel like in order to truly experience this place for all it has to offer, it is better to go with at least a group of four or more and order dishes to be shared family style. I'm sure you can find something for yourself or order a couple of items if you're going with one other person or a small group as well. Made a reservation for a group of friends that meet up for a meal from time to time and this restaurant is perfect for that dynamic. When we got there, I checked and and we were seated right away. It's not often I get to go to these full service banquet style Asian (mostly Chinese) restaurants but I miss going to them as a kid with my family. The service from the folks who sat us and the ladies taking our order was great from the beginning. So friendly! For myself, I got some milk tea to wash down all the delicious food we ordered. Although we didn't do any of the specials that required ordering a day or two in advance (the braised morel and chicken soup or the winter melon soup), I think we ordered really well! As a group, we ordered: -Sauteed water spinach with spicy bean (needed some veggies) -Cantonese style mapo tofu (classic) -Spicy salt shrimp -Chestnut and chicken in clay pot -Lamb and bean curd hot pot (soup) -House special Vietnamese style lobster (more than 5 lbs), with added noodles I thought everything was tasty and just having a variety like that in a sizeable group makes this type of dining experience such a delight. We splurged a bit with the lobster and without it or per person cost probably would have been a lot lower, but sometimes you have to splurge and with a dish like the lobster here, it's a good one to do so!
Food here is delicious!! We ordered the Vietnamese style lobster with vermicilli, veggies, crispy shrimp, drunken chicken, and shaken beef with snap peas and mushroom. All were delicious however of course the lobster is the highlight of the meal, especially with the vermicilli. The crispy shrimp is a runner up, it's so crispy you can even eat the shell! Portion is great especially with the steep price. Service is attentive and they're always coming by to change plates or ask if we need anything. Inside is like a regular Chinese restaurant, family friendly but a bit noisy. Parking lot has a good amount of spots.
This is my second time at this restaurant. I had the lobster the last time I dined here. This time, we did not order the lobster. We ordered from the lunch menu. We had a group of 6 people. We had the following: 1) honey walnut shrimp: (4/5) Shrimp was fresh and good sized. It was fried to golden brown served with honeyed walnut. The sauce was served separately on the side. It was my first time having Honey walnut shrimp with sauce not mixed in. In my opinion, a good honey walnut shrimp dish would have the right amount of sauce tossed in with a lightly fried shrimp and toasted honey walnut. This dish is not what I expected or accustomed to. Nevertheless it was not bad. 2) Orange Beef: (2/5) beef was too dry. I felt like I was eating beef jerky. Flavor was okay. It tasted sweet and a little bit spicy. 3) Fish with black bean sauce (4/5). Fish tasted fresh and flavor was good. 4) Lotus root vegetables stir fry (4/5). Nice combination of lotus root, sweet peas, woods ear and carrots stir fry. 5) Drunken chicken (3/5). Moist chicken but not enough wine taste. Not a bad dish. 6) seafood chow mein (3/5). Average tasting chow mein. Not enough variety of seafood. I see very few shrimps. It is mostly fish in this chow mein dish. We wanted to have tea but found out that the tea is served with tea bags. For a "nice" Chinese restaurant, I expected it to serve good "loose leaf" real tea, not tea bags. We were disappointed to learn they use tea bags. Service was just okay. We got served but waiter wasn't friendly or anything. My group had arrived a couple of minutes after opening and already there was a lot of people. The tables filled up quickly. Having just eaten their food where I feel is just average or above average on most dishes, I wonder why it is so popular. With their prices being 20% to 40% higher than surrounding restaurants for lunch specials, they need to up their game. One thing I liked best about this place is the dividers between the tables. It makes it less noisy for the diners.
There's plenty of options for Cantonese seafood restaurants in The San Gabriel Valley, but Henry's Cuisine has earned its reputation as one of the area's longtime standouts. After a recent lunch visit, it's easy to see why this place has developed such a strong reputation in the SGV. Since there were only two of us for lunch, we didn't get a chance to order many of the larger seafood dishes that Henry's is known for. But even with a relatively small order, everything we tried was excellent. My favorite dish was the Shrimp with Vermicelli. The vermicelli soaked up all of the savory seafood flavors from the shrimp, garlic, and aromatics while still maintaining a great texture. The Singapore Style Fried Vermicelli was excellent as well. The noodles had a nice curry flavor that added plenty of aroma without overpowering the dish. Between the two noodle dishes, I honestly can't decide which one I'd reorder first. What I appreciated most about Henry's is that it feels like a restaurant that's focused on the food rather than trends. The dining room has the feel of a classic Cantonese seafood restaurant, and the menu is filled with dishes that have clearly earned loyal followings over the years. Even though we only sampled a small portion of the menu, everything we ordered was delicious and left me wanting to come back with a bigger group to explore more of what Henry's is known for. The shrimp vermicelli alone is enough reason for a return visit.
June 1st 2026 I had a great experience here. This is the second time I've dined here, but the husban had dined here multiple times (when they were based on West Covina area). OBVIOULSY, I and was pleasantly surprised by how well everything was prepared. The drinks were excellent...especially the Iced Tea and Hong Kong Coffee Milk Tea. I really appreciated that neither drink was overly sweet, allowing the tea and coffee flavors to shine through. One detail that stood out was how thoughtfully the food was served because the sauce for the fish and walnut shrimp was kept separate instead of being poured over the dishes. This helped maintain the texture and prevented everything from getting soggy before it reached the table. The pork we ordered was tender, flavorful, and most importantly, not greasy or overly salted. The skin wasn't hard ans overly crunchy. The crunch was light. My favorite dish of the meal was the string beans with ground meat. The beans were cooked just right with plenty of flavor, making it the standout dish for me. The staff were also wonderful throughout the meal. They were polite, attentive, and quick to help whenever needed. Great service paired with well-executed food made for an enjoyable dining experience. I would definitely come back again.
Our first time here and definetly won't be our last ! Everytime we visit SoCal we would go to Boston lobster or Newport to satisfied our lobster craving ! We decided to stop by Henry's since my parent mention they prefer this place over the other true ! My oh my the lobster was delicious live the idea they bring out the live lobster to show us before they cook it ! It's slightly glazed sweet with so much umami not overly oily ! The filet motion was tender, flavorful and like the idea that sweet pea mushroom was included ! The egg waffle was complimentary with the lobster purchase which was a nice additional ! Staff were attentive and helpful ! Restaurant well decorated and roomy ! We shall return next time we are in Socal
I know Henry's Cuisine has a strong following and plenty of glowing reviews, so this is simply my personal experience after two visits. My first dinner here was actually quite positive. I came with a large group of 7 adults and 4 kids on a very busy night, with a crowd waiting outside the restaurant. Despite how packed it was, service moved steadily and dishes came out in a timely manner. Most of the food felt very homey -- the kind of comforting dishes that reminded me of meals my grandmother used to make. That first visit was pleasant enough that I decided to bring my dad back specifically to try their signature Vietnamese lobster dish. Unfortunately, the second visit turned out to be disappointing. We intentionally came for lunch to avoid the dinner rush and were seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant was only about 75% occupied. Drinks arrived quickly, and we ordered salt and pepper tiger shrimp, green beans, and the house special lobster with an extra order of e-mein noodles on the side. Our server briefly returned with a live lobster in a metal bowl, mumbled "4 pounds," and walked away. A few minutes later, the shrimp and green beans arrived along with rice. We ate, waited, and continued waiting. By the time we had completely finished the two dishes -- probably about 25 minutes later -- nobody had checked on us, updated us about the lobster dish, or even acknowledged the delay. We finally flagged down another staff member and asked for the check because at that point the lobster still had not arrived and we were ready to leave. We asked if the lobster could simply be removed from the bill, but were told it was already being prepared. Ironically, the lobster dish finally appeared moments later, the e-mein noodle followed a few minutes later. For what is marketed as their signature dish, the lobster itself was honestly not very memorable. The preparation with green onion and basil was interesting since it was our first time trying lobster this way, but neither the flavor nor the presentation justified the long wait (if that's what it was or just an oversight in the kitchen) or elevated expectations. What stood out more than the food was the lack of service and communication. Delays happen, especially at busy restaurants, but a quick check-in or update would have made a big difference. The restaurant also automatically adds a 12% service charge to the bill. While automatic gratuities are becoming more common, and in this case, I even added extra just to bring the tip up to 15%. With that expectation, there should also be a basic level of attentiveness and customer service. Overall, the food and service felt comparable to a typical Chinese comfort-food restaurant like Sam Woo, satisfying enough for a casual meal, but not particularly memorable considering the Michelin Guide recognition and pricing. Personally, the experience did not justify a return visit. I'd rather go to places like Lunasia or Kim Tar Seafood, where the overall experience feels more polished and consistent with the price point.
We got takeout from here but next time we have to go in! We ordered the lobster, Yangzhou fried rice, shrimp and vermicelli, and green beans. The fried rice was meh but paired with everything else was delicious. Everything else is delicious as takeout, can't wait to see what it's like eating in. Highly recommend!
I celebrated my birthday here, and it was the perfect place for a special dinner! The restaurant has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, and the seating feels private enough to enjoy your meal without feeling crowded. If you love lobster, this is the place to be. They offer several different styles of preparing their lobster, so there's something for everyone. No matter which one you choose, you can tell it's incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The flavors are rich, the meat is sweet and tender, and every dish is packed with flavor. It's easily some of the best lobster I've ever had! Everything we ordered was delicious, the portions were generous, and the service was friendly and attentive. They made my birthday feel extra special from beginning to end. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, having dinner with family, or just craving amazing Asian seafood, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I'll definitely be back to work my way through all of their lobster dishes!
The lobster noodles were DELICIOUS! Everything else was soso. Basil chicken tasted tough. The fish was tough and lacking flavor. The clams were so small and had like 12 on plate. They put a bunch of onions and green peppers. The restaurants have a lot of plastic wall separations, so it looks like you're in a small room. HAPPY LOBSTERING!!

Amazing food and service. Luke and cici are the best. He even showed us the lobster before it was cooked! Lobster a must try with the emein noodles. Loved the noodles too fluffy yet chewy all the way from Hong Kong! The lobster sauce was such a unique taste. The fried pig trotters are a must as well. Super crispy with a sweet dipping sauce. Finally made it to Henry's.... you have to order the lobster. Lobster was delicious and perfectly cooked lightly firm. Crispy pork hock was another must order along with the filet mignon cubed steak Asian fusion. Service was quick and best to have reservation ... place is popular on weekends. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now and I finally went with a group of 3! We arrived ~6pm for an early dinner, and the restaurant was already starting to fill up. It's a relatively large space, but I estimate that there were at least 12-15 tables already seated when we arrived. Servers were attentive and quick to get us seated. For the 3 of us, we ordered 4 dishes. This was definitely too much food, but we wanted a variety. Vietnamese fried fish 5/5 - I really liked the flavor of this! It was sweet and spicy, and perfectly fried. Also, if you love the flavor of basil, you'll love this dish. Honey garlic pork chop 3.5/5 - This was good flavor, but it was a a little too much sauce, such that the pork chops weren't crispy anymore. Dried scallop/egg fried rice 5/5 - Loved this. It was light and fluffy, and a great pairing with the heavier, fried dishes. Honey walnut shrimp 3.5/5 - The sauce was a little bland and not as sweet as I'd prefer. I did like that the sauce came on the side for optimal crispiness of the shrimp! Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. I think we made the mistake of ordering too many fried dishes (didn't realize the fish would be fried too) so the meal felt reallyyyyy heavy. Someone treated me to Chinese food here for my birthday. The food was actually really good. I highly recommend the FRIED TIGER PRAWN WITH MINCED GARLIC & DICED LITTLE FISH. This is the star here. There's like maybe only 10 prawns in the dish so share accordingly. You will want to eat more than one! There was a veggie dish with lotus root and snow peas. It was surprisingly satisfying for a non-meat dish. I also tried the French-style filet mignon, XO sauce soft noodle (yee mein), and seafood tofu clay pot. They were all pretty standard and tasted good. The prawns stand out though. I'd come back for that! There's also no extra charge for rice. Awesome! Service is great. They keep your drinks refilled. Yes, they have lemon black iced tea. They have a decent-sized parking lot. Bathrooms are to the right of the entrance. read more

Definitely a place to go to if you have a big group that is craving Cantonese food! They are known for their lobsters/seafood. Lobsters are market price and we didn't get them this time. Their meats are really good, but a lot of them are fried. If you are not good with eating meat on bones, this is not for you. read more

If you ask me, which kitchen is the best Cantonese cuisine I will recommend this one all the seafood, including the whole Alaska king crab lobster, Dungeness, crab, fresh clams, live fish, and all kinds of other half stirfry dishes. This place surprised me with the quality of food. A great place for classic Chinese food. We ordered the honey fried pork, halibut, a soup, and the salted egg shrimp. And for the finale, the pork with the crispy skin. The salted egg shrimp is so good. I've had salted egg pumpkin and honey walnut shrimp but never salted egg shrimp. It is deep fried and dusted with the salted egg seasoning and it is delicious. Both pork dishes were good. The portion size is good too. Service is your typical Chinese restaurant service. Parking is easy with a private lot. The decor is really nice. More of your upper class Chinese restaurant feel with glass dividers separating the tables. This is a great place for Chinese style family dinners with a wide variety of selection on their menu. It's become our go-to for large family dinners within the past few years. My family usually go for dinner on Sunday and there is no wait during that time. Tasty food and fast service! read more
Food is delicious but please be warned there is a mandatory 12% tip added to your bill. We ordered a 4.2 lb lobster for a group of 5 people and the price was $36.00 per pound . Service was fast and attentive. Haven't came back in a long time and they changed their interior decorations. I came here with a large group for a family meal. We made a reservation for Black Friday. We ordered total of eight dishes. All the food came out pretty quickly. The waitress was quick and efficient and polite. We ordered three Hong Kong milk teas, which was really good. It came with condensed milk that you can adjust on your own. This is a good restaurant for a large groups. You order a lot of dishes and you're able to get a taste of everything. The pig feet and chicken were cooked perfectly. The meat was tender and flavorful. I felt like the Seabass came out a tad bit dry, but not too noticeable as long as you took some of the sauce with it the meat was still pretty tender and not overcooked. The vegetables were quite tasty, seasoned perfectly and not overcooked either. The filet mignon plate, beef was cooked evenly and the meat wasn't tough so I definitely recommend this dish. Overall, a pretty good experience I would come here again with my family. even though it was black Friday, the restaurant was half filled, but not too busy. read more

it's ok to start drooling now and it form a puddle at your feet. Look at the dishes. Mere perfection *chefs kiss*. It is on the pricey side for a chinese restaurant but the quality of the food is CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT. And this is my mom's favorite place (my mom is a very picky eater). So you know it's that good good. If you have a big party, you have to get the lobster, hands down a must. Service is great. You might have to wait a bit esp if it's a holiday (mothers day, xmas, etc) but well worth it. read more

First time here to celebrate a birthday. The table is pretty big and can accommodate 10 people. The food is really fresh and tasty. My favorite is the house special lobster. The service is good and the server is very helpful. Recommend it if you're looking for family style restaurant. read more

Henry's is delicious. Have not had one bad dish - everything is delicious. Service is prompt. As others have mentioned - it is kinda higher priced compared to other places but the food is so good. We love it here. read more

I was initially wary when my dad had picked this restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised. I swear my dad ordered like every item from the menu haha but it was all very good!! We got the Vietnamese Style Fried Fish with Basil, Singapore Curry Beef Stew, Deep Fried Salted Pig, Garlic Leaves Sauteed Sliced Lamb, Spicy Bean Curd Water Spinach Stir Fry, Lobster (1 Fried, 1 Not). We also got maybe 5 more dishes that I don't quite remember the names of. However, my favorite dishes were the water spinach, curry beef stew and lobster (non fried). Overall, the dishes were HUGE - great for family style. The one thing that I didn't appreciate from this restaurant though was that they didn't respect the idea of someone putting their card down. My dad had gave his card in early and they had already charged him, but when my sister's boyfriend's mom went to put her card down, they refunded my dad and put it on her card. As a Chinese restaurant, you'd expect them to understand the culture in that generation and they essentially started a war of who should have paid... The waiter should have stuck with whoever gave her the card first. Because of the quality of the food, I still give this place a 4. read more
If I could give this place 6 stars, I would! My cousin, my sister, and I have a hangout together once in a while and we almost always go to a Cantonese restaurant/cafe for these hangouts. Of all the Cantonese restaurants we have been to, we gotta say Henry's Cuisine is in our top 3 Cantonese restaurants because of both its food and service. Food/Drinks: -Vietnamese Style Filet Mignon: The filet mignon was perfectly tender and was also glazed with a pleasantly sweet flavor that made this dish special; I also liked the basil added to this dish which boosted the flavor and made this dish remind me of a Thai basil chicken dish. Henry's Cuisine definitely has one of the best renditions of this dish I've ever had. -Honey Garlic Pork Chop: These were some really tasty and tender pork chops. The sauce that coated these pork chops had the right degree of sweetness that was pleasant to the taste buds and wasn't overpowering. The outside of the pork chops had a nice crispness as well. -Deep Fried Whole Sole: This was for sure a great quality fish. The freshness and tenderness of the meat of this fish was impressive. The fish was also well-fried and I loved the crunchy texture of the outside of this fish. This dish was also paired with a dipping soy sauce for the fish. -Hong Kong Style Lemon Tea: Their lemon tea was great and I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. The waiters/waitresses were really nice and I'm not kidding you they refilled our lemon teas so many times without us asking that I lost count. In my experience, at other Cantonese restaurants I've typically had to ask someone to refill these refillable lemon teas but not here - the waiters/waitresses were like automatic refill machines! I was way too full from the three dishes and the endless lemon teas. However I'll be making my return promptly to Henry's Cuisine because I am particularly eyeing that popular lobster dish that they have hehe. read more

Get ready for this menu! I love how almost the whole menu is photos so you can visually see what you ordering. Service was great and fast, came around 5:15 so it wasn't busy but picking up. We are salted fish and chicken, spicy salt shrimp, Vietnam-style filet mignon, and Hu tiger shrimp. When you come here come here hungry and ready to eat. read more

Celebrated Father's day here. We had reservations in advance. My favorite here is the crispy salt& pepper shrimp and the noodles. The unlimited Iced tea is a must too. A lot of our favorites were not available that day which was a disappointment. The price is a bit pricey compared to other SGV cantonese resto. read more
I got the mapo tofu since I have been trying to eat healthier. I have never ordered it before. I was eating alone for lunch on a weekday. I was one of the few single diners and the only non Asian. For me , this is a sign that I'm going to like the food since I often get something more authentic and more tasty. there appeared to be a lot of group parties. The tofu sauce was excellent but I don't think I would get this again solo, it seemed like it should be balanced out with vegetable or something. Having said that the portion was generous. Wow! What more can I say about Henry's that hasn't been said already? The food is excellent, the servers are hustling like bees in a hive. We wanted to try Henry's because there are no other Chinese restaurants quite like this. The menu is like a family photo album, beautiful pictures of every dish. It's like a food dating service. Known best for their lobster, we went for it. Our server Eric, escorted our guest of honor, Larry Lobster, who was wearing only a pair of rubber bands on his claws. No other attire for Larry Lobster. After a brief interview with Larry, we learned his weight, where he came from and how long he had been staying at Hanks Lobster Tank. We liked Larry and were very pleased with his demeanor and look. Eric took Larry back to the kitchen where he was steamed and dressed in crushed garlic with melted butter. Larry came out to the table looking fabulous darling! Meanwhile we feasted on the most amazing honey walnut shrimp where the glaze comes in a separate bowl so you can sauce it yourself. We love Chow Fun, and the House version is loaded with lots of great seafood. We added greenery to our meal with the bok choy, and the stir fried pea tips in garlic. We were quite impressed with how large the vegetable dishes were. Meal ended with a special waffle cookie which was delivered as a surprise for those tables that get a lobster (everyone basically). Reservations are recommended but our party of five only waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday evening at 6 pm. This place can accommodate a lot of people and parties of all sizes. read more
A traditional Chinese stir fried dishes for dinner!!! Having ordering golden salty egg sauce with jumbo shrimp, pork ribs with honey sauce and bean curd with brown sauce!!! It's more pricy than all other tes cafe foods, it's still tasty n delicious!! With ice lemon tea refilled.... Canto-approved! - Curry Beef Brisket: Full of rich coconut milk coating the tender tendons and beef pieces. You could smell it more than taste it. Watch out for the little bones but this was very good! - Shrimp Vermicelli Pot: Favorite by far because it combines two of my favorite things. I've been obsessed with this dish since I saw some Thai street food versions of it. Plenty of bouncy vermicelli and generous shrimp with a hint of fish sauce in there. Yum! I can't believe I haven't wrote a review for Henry's Cuisine! My family loves this place and we came here more than I can count. Here are top 5 dishes we always order: House special Vietnamese style sautéed lobster Cantonese style mapo tofu Garlic string beans stir fry Vietnamese style filet mignon Crispy walnut shrimps Other items on the menu are delicious too. I really like fried pumpkin with salted egg yolk but a lot of times they don't have pumpkin. I believe they also have a shrimp version. If you order lobsters, you get free waffles at the end of the meal. I really like the flavors here. Sometimes service can be lacking if they are busy but the food is always delicious! the decor here is so fabulous! i am living for the gold sprayed crab shells on the wall. steamed salted egg and pork meat - this was so yummy! i think there's water chestnut in it so there's a nice combination of texture in it drunken chicken - i didn't rlly like the wine flavored coating on it, but i know that's the point of the dish hahaha. my dad really liked it so i think it's up to personal preference sautéed string beans and minced pork - i could eat a whole plate of these! they are seasoned so well and not too oily this is a great family dining place! i personally think $20 for some veggies is too much, but they sure know how to make good food! read more

Do they add a service charge to the bill and still expect you to tip them? Someone posted their receipt that showed this to be the case.
They added 12% to the bill, I usually will add another 6 to 8 % to make it 18% to 20% tip. These days, 15% is pretty much a minimum tip % for any decent service.…
