I want to like this place but sadly while it is not bad it's just not that good. This is mainly due to price point. I am a nondiscriminatory taco consumer. Hard, soft, any meat, you name it, it goes in my mouth if taco is involved. Unless it's a fusion taco because NO THANK YOU. If I wanted Korean food I would have gotten Korean food damnit! Anyway it might sound like sacrilege but I love me a hard shelled taco. I just do. I can't explain it. Is it better than corn tortilla street tacos? No. Is it worse? Hell no. But there is an unclogged artery part of my heart that will forever be saved for the crunchy taco. So this place does them along with burritos and a few other items. I am really disappointed with this place. What happened? Is it under new management because this wasn't the same Henry's we use to go to years ago and would drop in when in the neighborhood. The food was so bland and just gross. My daughter couldn't even eat her rice. It was reheated probably in a microwave with zero flavor and hard as a rock. Yes, these are probably white people tacos but come on, they are SO GOOD. We always get the soft tacos and a million sauces (I feel like they started filling up the containers only halfway b/c people request so many sauces). The soft tacos are more like little burritos but they are delicious -- I don't know why, they just are! Meat, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes -- that's all that's in them but they have my heart. I wanted to write this while my heartburn was in full effect, just to be on that mad real tip. Firstly, I love tacos. Gringo tacos (Google it.), street tacos, half-eaten tacos on the ground, forgotten about tacos in the fridge, the tacos your friend's Mom makes, and as many other tacos you can name until the word 'tacos' sounds weird. These tacos are overpriced and cheaply made. The beef is cut with 50% onions. Everyone is mentioning Taco Bell because that's truly just about what they taste like. I have to say Del Taco would have been a better $17 spent for more than 6 tacos, if you're going for Gringo tacos; then at least you'd be eating tastier beef. Cash only. I get it. I've had this place bookmarked for the longest time to try if I'm ever in the area. I'm glad that I had the chance to stop by & have some lunch one afternoon. I ordered the beef burrito, taco and a medium Coke. The food was decent & not bad. They don't have any other type of meats available. No chicken or pork. Just ground beef. The menu was simple, inexpensive and limited for their customers to choose from. The prices are affordable and easy on the wallet. Henry's Tacos doesn't have a public restroom for their customers to use. You have to use the restroom that is located inside the laundromat behind the restaurant and is coin operated. Henry's Tacos accepts cash only. There is an ATM machine in the rear if you don't have cash to pay for your meal. Of course, there is an transaction fee if you need to withdraw money. Parking for this restaurant, you can park behind the restaurant or on the streets. The parking lot, it's only a handful of assigned parking for their customers. Street parking, well it usually busy and barley any open spaces. Keep in mind that we are talking about Studio City where cars and foot traffic is always busy. All kinds of negatives things one restaurant may have deter you from eating at this place, right? Please keep reading my review, the story gets better. What caught my attention about this place is that I remember seeing the original Henry's Tacos on the news a couple of years ago. It had to do with the tenant, the landlord & making the original building a historical landmark. Ok this is what people don't get. Back in the day when I was growing up this was the type of Mexican food we grew up on. When you got out of school you would grab a taco just like this & it was yummy. No it's not fancy schmacy and all hyped up like all the trendy studio city establishments. Henry's Tacos is not an authentic Mexican restaurant so don't expect to get mole and enchiladas. They make 'gringo' tacos and burritos, they're mighty simple and mighty tasty. The people who don't 'get' Henry's usually complain that the food is too simple, but that's what makes it so good. I almost always get a combo burrito (ground beef, beans cheese, onions and hot sauce) a bean burrito (same thing minus the beef) and a chili, which is virtually beanless, like most LA chili, and has a nice hint of the famous Henry's hot sauce. If you don't have a huge appetite two burritos should be plenty. They also have a fairly regular selection of soft drinks but they're ice machine makes some awesome flake of ice. I believe you get one free refill so even though their sodas aren't very big, if you're eating in you can grab a refill. To me, it's all about the hot suace. It's not spicy, but it's far from bland. When they ask if you want extra sauce make sure to get a few and then add a little to eat bite. It's the way to go. If you haven't done that then don't bother writing a review ;) The new location has much better parking than their previous location and feels a lot more modern and cleaner. They also have a bunch more seating. The only thing that feels a little awkward is that they now only have 1 window. So you order, then stand to the side while the next person orders, which makes it a little weird when reaching around the next person to grab your food. read more

Rude staff at window. My stomach gets very upset when I have taco shells so I asked if I could order a few tacos and just have a bowl to throw the insides in. And he refused to give me one. No, its not exceptional Mexican food, but it is good and it is good consistently! It does seem that they are doing something right since they have been in business for what, 50 years?? Bare bones menu: Tacos, burritos, chili and a burger... that't pretty much it. Everything is spiced as it has been for years as it seems, and again, consistently good. Henry's Taco has been around for ages since I was a little kid when it was on the corner. Henry's Tacos burrito by far is still the best in all Los Angeles County. I order the bean and cheese burrito and it has crushed fresh beans their own special recipe with the sauce inside. It is the cheapest and best tasting bean and cheese burrito compared to expensive Mexican restaurants that the beans are harder and older tasting like refried beans instead of fresh at Henry's. The more expensive hole-in the wall Mexican food places aren't as good either and way more expensive and smaller burrito. Their meat burrito is all meat and cheese mostly meat and some onions cooked until soft and the best for a ground beef burrito all compared to all Mexican food places and fancy expensive restaurants of Los Angeles County. The closest comparison that might be closer is the El Tarasco in Venice Beach 2 blocks from the shore but they are more expensive on Washington. They have a special sauce that can't be bought at any stores and I don't know their recipe for it. I like they kept their special recipes for the bean and cheese burrito and their meat burrito. They close early on some days and you have to pay cash but it is worth it. I was bummed when they closed at the old location and had no idea of the new location. Thank God I saw their new location next to the Laundromat parking lot. It's hard not to buy a lot of burritos there. I spent $14. and left a tip recently. I got a lot of burritos for that price. I don't think they are charging enough for their food. I ate at the other corner where the new chain restaurant is and I don't like their food as much as Henry's for the same food and also way more expensive. I would advise that you leave a good tip for the 2 people who work there. I don't think they make that much money due to the low prices. I love the guy, but I'm not listening to his food choices from here on out. Apparently he's never discovered that if you take lettuce, tomato, cheese and add Lawry's taco seasoning to ground beef, you have all of the ingredients to make every single item this place offers. This is a review about the service at Henry's--not the food. Beware, check your change!! There is a female cashier who has short changed me at least FOUR times! She knows that most people don't check very carefully so she can get away with it! She will give you .50-1.00 less--she will sometimes charge more for each item (not much but it is the principle). She also will not give the requested hot sauce out--she always gives us two less. She acts like it is coming out of her salary! If the owner is reading this, please watch the cashier. This is lousy customer service. I would give the food 4 stars as the hot sauce is so tasty; they are skimping on the cheese, however, so the quality has gone downhill. read more

Think Taco Bell, but their americanized taco/burrito is homemade, not separated by mechanical chicken, and certainly not beef/cheese injected by what looks to be a hydraulic power tool -- Taco Bell does this and its incredibly unappetizing to say the least.
