    Seasonal Roasted Beet Salad

Great steak place with various seasonal additions. Incredible servers with good recommendations and lots of smiles. They split our entre in the kitchen without a request, always a plus. Decor is looking a little dated but doesn't detract from the quality of food and service.

It was late so Chris and I decided to eat before checking in to our hotel. This building is neat and looked like it had a lot of history. We sat at the bar to avoid the 30-minute wait as they were very busy. We decided on the Duo Dinner which was actually a bargain for a four-course meal for two! We enjoyed and devoured everything! The calamari was tender and well-seasoned. The stew was hot and flavorful. Not pictured was Chris's prime rib. It was super tender! My salmon was grilled to perfection and the carrot cake was a sweet ending to a very satisfying meal!

Came for a private event -a weekday lunch and learn. Found the experience a pleasant one. The private room was set up well and the timing was flawless. Our speaker said we'd expect salad at a certain time and our entrees at another certain time and they were both delivered exactly on time to a room full of people. My steak medallion was hot and cooked the perfect medium rare, though the bacon wrap was soggy and I didn't eat it. Mashed potatoes and side carrots were also hot and tasty. Enjoyed the experience and felt the service was amazing to somehow always keep our drinks full but not be disruptive.

What can improve? For starters everything! If you're going to charge over $50 for a steak you better make sure you know how to cook it. I ordered medium rare but it was undercooked. The asparagus and potato were nothing less than boring. I will not be back. The decor is old and dingy. This place needs a lot of work.

We went to the Hereford House on Midland for my birthday dinner last night and once again, they knocked it out of the park! Hereford always has the feel of a great steakhouse, and they live up to that. I love the "cowboy chic" theme of the restaurant. Our waitress was great and even brought an unexpected dessert for my birthday. She was awesome. The food is always the star here. No one in Kansas City beats the 1957 Salad. The in-house cheese and garlic dressings (pink and yellow dressings) are the best. I always recommend getting both. Then I got the perfectly prepared Prime Rib. Again, maybe the best in town. I can't wait until the next time!

Good experience going here. I got the 2 person meal for $99 -- includes an appetizer, two soup/salads, 2 entrees, and a dessert. The steak was good, but I don't know if it was worth the price! Still liked it though. It was mostly quiet, which was nice for conversation. I'd come back in the future.

Went here for a date night and honestly, was pleasantly surprised. The service was was a little slow at the beginning but the food came out pretty quickly. You're given a soft honey white bread to start and this was absolutely delicious. I wish my meal consisted of this bread only, it was really good! (I usually don't rave about the complimentary bread but this was definitely good.) When trying a new restaurant, I always opt to order two appetizers.. guess it's just a tradition. Order the calamari, for sure! Usually, calamari is hit or miss and a lot places can't perfect the texture. The texture of this calamari was amazing. Tasted really good, the spicy marinara definitely added to the taste. I would order this every time. The crab cakes... go ahead and skip out on ordering this. The taste wasn't too bad but came out cold and the aioli that came with the crab cakes was personally too pungent and tart; would've preferred a milder taste on the garlic (usually i am a HUGE fan of garlic) but the aioli really doesn't pair well with the taste of these crab cakes specifically. Salmon - VERY good, mashed potatoes.. strange texture almost "gooey", i skipped out on eating this. Can't go wrong with broccoli, this was just okay. I would come back for the salmon, bread, and calamari. :~)

Update. Decided to use the gift card HH gave us due to our last experience being less than expected. No reservation, got there and they were busy due to Homecoming. Was told initially that the wait would be most likely an hour. We were not in a hurry so told them we would wait. Also I know most places exaggerate wait times. The hostess was very attentive to us keeping us updated and the wait time turned out to be 10 mins! Great start. Ironically we were seated at the same exact table with the same server as last time. BTW, although there were some short comings in our server last time, she was still a very pleasant and nice person. I ordered the Grilled Meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes and string beans. My wife ordered the Short Rib Tacos with string beans on the side. Our server brought us hot bread and butter, delicious, while we waited for our dinners. I like the honey butter. Our dinners came and they were both absolutely delicious!! I really like the smoked flavor that results from grilling the meatloaf. it was a generous serving topped with a brown beef sauce. The short rib tacos were stuffed with meat, pickled onions and cilantro, then deep fried. The shells were a little greasy as a result of frying but crisp and delicious non the less. We both had leftovers. (It was fun seeing the Homecoming kids and their dates, dressed up and funny at the same time. The girls all were wearing tight dresses with high hems and due to being self-conscious constantly pulling up the fronts to ensure they were covered and at the same time pulling down their hems to ensure their rear was covered, lol. The guys had suits, some wearing sneakers with them. I don't think they were even 16 yrs old.) Now, back to the dinner. Hostess 5 stars for her attentiveness and effort to seat us sooner rather than later. Server 5 stars for being so pleasant and attentive. Food 5 star for flavor and portion size. On our way out a different server was bringing someone their food, crossed our paths and still took the time to thank us for coming in. NICE! Price very reasonable, 38.00 total before tip. REDEMPTION HH!!!! We will be back!

The cheese burgers were the special, so I opted for one of those with fries + the "my girlfriend isn't hungry" add of a couple chicken strips and some extra fries. The burger was perfect, but I've gotta say...for being a place called *Burg* and Barrel, their chicken strips are the best. They're juicy, the breading is fantastic, and they're always just really high quality. We came in while they were starting the trivia night deal, which I couldn't care less about, but if that's something you're a fan of...it's a thing here. Overall it was just another fantastic meal at the best burger/brew chain in the KC area.

Grandstand is a small burger spot with no seating inside and NO DRIVE THRU, which I find charming. It harkens back to the 50s even thought it only opened in 1984. But the whole visit here was about the burger, and it performs admirably. It's thick, juicy, and full of flavor. But that is just the burger. I'd recommend avoiding their fries as I've tried a couple versions and both tasted bland and potentially frozen as if they aren't made in house. Each time of had their fries, I've thrown them away. However, the burger is done very well. First time visitors that get triggered by religious or political signage should be well aware that there will be signs in this restaurant. Tater kegs were good, taste and size-wise. But we wound up hardly eating much of the fried pickles. They were drowned in salt, so much so even the ranch couldn't compensate or cover it up. My wife got the unlimited wings. She tried three different flavor of wings, all very salty to the taste. Sweet Chili, the Popping Pineapple and the Teriyaki. And the teriyaki really didn't taste like teriyaki at all. My daughter had the veggie burger, and she said it was very salty. I ordered the deviled eggs and the jalapeno creamed corn. The deviled eggs were good; filling was a little runnier than I usually like in a deviled egg. The jalapeno creamed corn had some good spice, but another dish that had entirely too much salt in it. When my wife and first got there to get the table for our party, the host asked if we had the app. We did not, he instructed us how to download it, and told us we'd be getting an email for a free burger. He also told us about the 20% off "Vintage" discount for seniors, of which I am one. At the end of our meal, the server (who was really cool, by the way) gave us our bill, which totalled with tax $165 plus some change. I told him I was a senior and wanted the vintage discount. He brought in iPad over, entered a couple things and brought us a new bill. I glanced at it and it said $163 and some change. So I walked after him and asked him if I paid up front and that's where they gave the discount. He said no you pay me and I did give you the discount. Sure enough, on the receipt, it was saying vintage discount......$2.60. Now I use math in my head every day for work as an air traffic controller, so it didn't take me long to figure out $2.60 is WAY BELOW 20% off of $165. I was looking for some fine print somewhere that might explain this particular math conundrum. Couldn't find anything. I was going to find our server or a manager, but the family was ready to go, and since it was a birthday my wife didn't want me to make an issue of it, so we left. Not happy with the liberal usage of salt in everything, and with today's prices, especially not happy with the issue with the discount that was about 18% short. Probably won't be back.
