One of my favorite location here in SD. There's a ton of parking and it's easily accessible. Although, there is no seating inside, but plenty of seating outside. I love to do a mobile order to avoid the crazy wait times. They have a mobile pick up section at the front of the store. If you're planning on stopping by definitely preorder! The boba is always fresh. I like to get the brown sugar milk tea. It's not too sweet and made perfectly. My other go to is the Mango Coconut BOOM! This one is my favorite for wanting fresh fruit. It comes with coconut jelly and sago.
The drinks at HeyTea are consistently delicious in the different cities I've had it and this location in Del Mar is no different. It's the only tea shop I'll consider ordering a fruit tea from and there's nothing that compares to their Coconut Mango Boom! The matcha is stellar too, and my favorite drink from theirs is the Triple matcha. My 3 stars is for the service, as this location compared to UTC allows for pick up orders. The staff look miserable and dread giving out pick up orders. The whole interaction with staff makes this tea shop possibly the worst one to visit.
MANGO CLOUD has a chokehold on me! if you're a mango addict like me, you need to try that drink! First impression, I basically regretted getting a size small because I finished my drink in less than 5 minutes The sweetness is perfect (no added or adjustments) I don't like super sweet drinks. This location is not really meant for customers to sit inside, there's plenty of seating outside the store though. Store is clean and cute. Service was quick, staff friendly! Definitely my to go drink !!
After not wanting to wait 2 hours during the grand opening I finally got to try it. Not wanting to wait in line I placed an online order but it made me download the app to do so. We got the supreme brown sugar milk tea with boba and the cloud it came with. The drink itself was very rich and honestly just not my favorite, but was decent. For the price, I'm thinking this is a try it once and that's enough for me.
Perfect. No notes. 5 stars all across the board. We came here for a sweet palette cleanser after dinner and oh my god...it was amazing. I love the minimalist vibe and the lack of visual "loudness" that comes with a lot of boba shops. Like it was positively underwhelming which I liked a lot. Servers were also friendly! The Mochi Yingde Black Tea might be one of my favorite (boba) drinks I've ever had. I didn't get a chance to try any matcha, but I know they'll be awesome and amazing and perfect--currently counting down the days til my next visit.
I came by to see what the hype is all about and decided to check out Hey Tea at the Del Mar location which opened in August and their newest location just opened at UTC Their menu offers a wide variety from superfood / fruit tea, in season, matcha, and milk teas drinks to choose from. The staff was really helpful and informative. I ended up getting the Triple Supreme Matcha Latte for 7.99. It comes with Matcha jelly, matcha foam, and matcha mochi. The sweetness level starts at 75% and you can adjust it. Wow! It was super delicious. The size is rather on the smaller side but it's worth it. I'd definitely come back to try their coconut mango boom which is one of their popular drinks. Their space is nice and clean and seating are available outside.
I've been wanting to try Hey Tea ever since I heard about it. I tried to go to the location at UTC and was met with workers who ignored my presence and once they did acknowledge me, I was told that although there was no line the wait was 40 minutes so I walked out pretty bummed. However when I went to the center where this Hey Tea was located for my grad brunch I was excited to see there was another location I didn't know about and decided to try it out and had a great experience! Although this shop is smaller and seemingly has a more limited menu, it didn't affect my experience negatively at all. I ordered on a screen, but all of the workers seemed so happy and upbeat and like they genuinely enjoyed their job which is always great to see. There was a good amount of people waiting, but I got my drink in less than 10 minutes. When it comes to the actual drinks, they were super different than any other boba or tea shop I've gone to. They were defaulted to be less sweet which really allowed the flavors and toppings to shine through. I got the mango coconut bloom and it was SO unique in the best way possible. I really liked the combination of coconut milk and blended mango and the sago and coconut jelly added some super satisfying texture. My boyfriend got the red grape slush with cheese foam which I would argue was even better. I love the flavor of natural grape and feel it's super hard to find but Hey Tea did it just right. The cheese foam was the perfect compliment to the grape taking it from purely refreshing to more rich and indulgent. The flavors of the savory foam with the sweet and sour grape balanced SO well. Overall, I had an amazing experience and will definitely be stopping by Hey Tea for a refreshing drink next time I'm on my way to the beach or pool
Very yummy tea! Esp the mango coconut boom! I like how you can taste all the different flavors of the drinks. The blue matcha was not my fav since idk how I feel about coconut and matcha together. But loved the grape crush def a summer go to! Pls have more 1+1 event hehe The workers literally work 5x the speed. There is always rush but it just speaks for the taste of the product. Ambiance is cute but more of a Togo spot than a work/chilling place. Parking is hard to find whenever I am in this plaza always a bit busy.
Came here with a friend and I saw that they were promoting a Wicked themed drink, which I was really intrigued about. Unsolicited advice, but I feel like their promo signage should have indicated what was in the drink because the store was barely open, and the workers were SWAMPED with another promo that was taking place that day. I can tell the customer service would have been good, had they not been so overwhelmed, but they were definitely operating under a just be efficient kind of service, which is fine. The Wicked matcha: A pink pomelo aroma cloud is naturally tinted with dragon fruit, no artificial color is used. 1000+ mesh matcha is blended with pomelo aroma juice. Black specks in the cloud are dragon fruit seeds This description was taken from their site, and I may be wrong, but I don't recall any dragon fruit seeds in my drink. Not that I minded either way. Overall, the drink was good, but nothing spectacular.
Heytea won me over with their app and delicious coconut mango boom which is lactose free! I've heard good things about Heytea but their line is always insane. Turns out their app is amazing. It's not just your typical, order and pickup. It literally tells you how many drinks are in front of you and has a pretty accurate wait time. The wait time can be long and their could even be 30-50 drinks ahead of you! But don't worry, plan accordingly. I recommend placing your order about 25 minutes in advance so where ever you might be coming from, drop in that order. Then head over and your drink should be about done. Grape boom tea, coconut mango boom, and their mango grapefruit boom are all delicious. I agree with others that they need to work on their pick up line vs. ordering in person line. It's a tight space and despite the signage, it's actually not too clear. It can feel like you're cutting the line to pick up your drink when you aren't actually. Just ask around when you get into the store to see if the people are waiting to order or pick up. Should generally have plenty of parking. Even if it's busy, there's a parking garage.

Heytea is a newer tea shop selling various drink options for those who like matcha teas, boba style drinks, and all those drinks that are similar. Pros: the location is in the heart of a Del Mar shopping center/ plaza and the front of the store has a nice little water fountain and plenty of outdoor seating. Price is average for tea shops, ranging above $7+ per drink. Parking is abundant on slow days. This plaza they're located in can get busy but you'll be able to find a spot fairly close and quickly. Note that there is no bathroom on site. Cons: there are no physical menus or QR code menus. This can be difficult for those older folks who don't use online menus prior to arriving. The screens on the back wall only show 1-2 of their most popular drinks with no menu until you reach the cash register. If you're looking to be spontaneous and order what speaks to you on the menu, you will have an awkward experience with the cashier trying to decide what to order while they stare you down. I ordered the triple matcha supreme latte and my girlfriend ordered the mango coconut bloom. The taste was too sweet, it had a unique consistency where it felt like you were drinking half cooked egg which was unappealing to me. Almost like eating a matcha flavored egg drop soup. My girlfriend's drink had the same consistency. We could not finish it due to the weird texture. Not our cup of tea. Service was not very welcoming and answered our question unenthusiastically. Verdict: I'm personally not a fan of their drinks. Might be worth a try to those who want to try something different but there are far better tea shops nearby this location that I'd rather go to. Stopped by this boba shop and got the Mango Grapefruit Boom. Definitely refreshing on a hot day! You can tell this place is popular because the employees were constantly pumping out drinks. The menu has tons of options, so there's definitely something for everyone. Bit pricey though. There aren't any tables or seating inside, but there's plenty of space outside along with a nice play area for kids. Overall, great vibes and tasty drinks. the crisp grape boom was really tasty and not too sweet. The cheese foam is non-dairy I believe, so that was a plus. Dropped a star due to the extended wait time, but you can order on the app to avoid that. There are tables outside so you can wait for / enjoy your drinks there read more
Another amazing visit to HeyTea! I am a big fan of their Del Mar location. The aroma of the shop speaks for itself. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the seasonal slim boost tea and it was so tasty and refreshing. You can truly taste the quality of their ingredients. Parking here can be tricky so plan for some time to find a parking spot. The lines have died down at this location so my drink came out in about 10 minutes. I love it here! I definitely recommend. read more

My favorite is the Mango Cloud - the sweetness is just right and the mango taste is always on point. It's nice that you can order on the app and just pick it up instead of getting in the long line. It's pretty amazing to see the No.1 Chinese Milk Tea brand right now in San Diego! I've had a grape drink one time in China, it was very delicious. This time, I tried 3 flavors, a light ice classic supreme matcha, a hot jasmine cheese tea and an iced mango coconut drink. All these are yummy! I can tell their ingredients are very fresh. You might expect long line since it's just opened, but I believe it will be better. Their matcha series is always recommended and you should also try the mango one if you like mango. read more
We finally have our very own Hey Tea in San Diego!!! Stopped by on their first day around 8:40pm...they close at 9pm but they were able to serve you as long as you were in line before 9pm. I didn't realize they were having a BOGO free promo which was worth it. I've been to multiple Hey Tea locations (Irvine, Singapore, Hong Kong). FYI - a new location is opening in Southcoast Plaza soon. I had the Triple Supreme Matcha Latte with 50% sugar - loved every last sip. I didn't know what was inside but there was a weird texture which I thought was matcha pudding - I heard it's some kind of mochi - it was delicious. My partner had the usual - Mango Grapefruit Boom with 70% sugar - can't go wrong with this one. Our friends had the Yumberry Boom and Brown Sugar Boba - they loved it. The reason I love Hey Tea is because it's natural - none of this powder crap like the other tea shops. Hey Tea is all about natural ingredients and quality. Can't wait to come back for more drinks. PS - the owner/manager was nice. For being their first day, I was amazed how fast the line moved. Yes the line was super long but the employees were fast and efficient. They worked hard all day - they even got pizza at the end of the night. It was a very lively place. Heard a lot of good things about this place so me and my friends decided to try. Their popular drink is this blue coconut matcha drink and they said it was really good, highly recommend. I got their brown sugar milk tea, since i'm more of a milk tea fan. This tasted more like the fresh milk brown sugar drinks out there which i'm not a fan of (not a fan of milk taste) so i give it a 6/10. Boba also had an interesting alcohol like after taste which we thought was weird. Overall pretty cool, they were quick to make drinks and inside is pretty and smells really good. I don't think I personally would come back again, they only have that brown sugar milk tea for milk teas. read more

Even if there's a long line, it goes by fast! Been here on a weekday and weekend evenings, and every time I've never waited more than 15 minutes. Coconut mango boom is my go to drink here! Not too sweet and not tart with sago. The coco foam matcha oat latte with boba is super good too! The boba is chewy and flavorful compared to other San Diego boba shops. Triple supreme matcha is very matcha-y, so if you're caffeine sensitive, beware lol. The baristas are super nice and fast. Cute small boba shop with minimal decor! read more

Not the biggest milk tea person but I've heard a lot about Heytea and how amazing it was. This location is still fairly new and is definitely busy on the weekends (order drinks online to beat the line). We ordered the triple matcha & coconut mango boom. We adjusted the triple matcha to be less sweet, but I honestly think it would've tasted better if we ordered it regular. The coconut mango boom was really good though, felt more like a dessert than drink, but still very refreshing. Overall a great experience, would I go again? Yes! read more

The line gets SO long, but you can download the app and order in advance. The location is where Happy Lemon used to be.. no more seating area inside but they have tables outside. For a very busy place, they seem to have a pretty good system down for peak time service. read more
Located in the plaza across from Omomo which was interesting because now I can't make up my mind whether or not I want HeyTea or Omomo (or both). But ordered online and the order was done quickly. I ordered the triple matcha and the coconut mango bloom which were both yummy. I'm so glad a location in San Diego had finally opened up! Would come again!! read more

I came around 5 mins before opening on a weekday and there were a few people waiting outside already. I was among the first 5 people to order after opening and it took a few mins to place my order and another 10 mins to get my drinks. Service was nice and efficient. I ordered a supreme matcha latte at regular sugar (100%) and a triple supreme matcha latte at the recommended sugar of 70%. Both drinks were rich and had a strong matcha taste. I like my drinks to be on the sweeter side so 100% sugar is good for me. I wasn't a fan of the slightly soft and mushy matcha mochi and jelly so I would ask for none next time. Also, it comes by default with dairy milk so I wish they offer milk alternatives. I wouldn't go out of my way for this but would try again when their UTC location opens. read more

we got the coconut blue matcha drink, mango coconut drink, and jasmine matcha drink. overall, the quality of the drinks are very good! i was impressed by how yummy the drinks were and they weren't that sweet! 3cat has similar drinks but they are much sweeter in comparison. i would definitely come back if i was in the area. i'd say its more for a dessert and not really for a tea craving. the jasmine flavor wasn't that strong in my drink we ordered on the app because we feared there would be a long line. when we picked up, the wait didn't look too bad! read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE IN LITERALLY EVERY POSSIBLE ASPECTS!!! Wait time is literally INSANE. Waited 1 hr 40 mins for 3 drinks. Ordered thru the app, got there when it said about 5 more mins till the drinks are done, ended up waiting for another 45 mins. It stayed at 5 more mins for a whole freaking nother 45 mins. One of the drinks we ordered, the magnolia cloud, they ran out of the tea mix. If Yalls even designed a whole damn app for it, I don't think it's hard to notify the customers thru the app that how many more mins for the tea mix. I saw the app stayed at 5 mins wait for way too long and decided to go ask the staff how long it'll take, the staff checked with the kitchen and then told me 8 mins. Ok. So I went to shopped around the nearby Ralph's, got back there in about 15 mins, tea mix still not done. And yup it took another more like 30 mins at least. Idk how it went from 8 mins to 30 mins honestly. I couldn't even find an option to cancel or change to another order. I literally don't have that much time to wait for boba (ended up have to cancel dinner reservation was @5 cus we ordered around 4:20 and didn't get our drink until 5:38) I have never waited that long for it. And then I saw our cup being the first one in the line to be made after the tea mix got finished. But then the staffs proceeded to make other ones first and ours were just sitting on the side. All of the other ones were getting scanned, ours after being made, just sitting on the inner counter they didn't even scanned it until very later on. Cups were not wiped cleaned either a lot of the foam thingy still on the side of the cup. The other 2 drinks that were sitting on the counter while the magnolia one was being made were all hella melted and watered down. My slushies not even slushy anymore and the other drink straight up tasted like water. Staffs weren't apologetic at all seemed like they don't give a f honestly. And then the worst part was... THIS MAGNOLIA LATTER OR WHATEVER WAS NOT EVEN GOOD. AND IT WAS MADE WITH NO EFFORT LOOKED RLY UGLY NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE DISPLAYED. Like they literally just slap the white cream on and called it a day. I have previously ordered it from another location before looked rly pretty and tasty and all that. I wanna say I get heytea pretty often too so when I saw this location opening in San Diego I was so happy like happier than any other brand opening here. But damn it was beyond disappointing by far one of the worst tbh. Anyways if yalls are smart, go to omomo instead. Nicer staff, tastier drinks, better quality, and reasonable line. read more

HeyTea in Del Mar is a solid spot for creative fruit and tea drinks. I recently tried the Cloud Coconut Blue and Cloud Coconut Aqua and both were refreshing with a nice coconut flavor. Though, the coconut jelly did kind of lack that satisfying textural chew. From past visits, I've liked the Mango Grapefruit Boom, Coconut Mango Boom, Grape Boom, Magnolia Tea, and Wicked Matcha more. The shop is always busy, but ordering ahead makes things much easier. It's in a beautiful plaza with plenty of other places to browse, though seating is limited, so it's more of a grab-and-go stop. Overall, a great addition to San Diego's boba scene and definitely holds its own against Omomo next door. read more

It was a grand opening and the line was super long. We spent about 1 hr to get our drink. The service was great through and it was quick to get the drinks made. Inside was not crowded and the tea smell was pleasant. The price was okay. It might be on the high end for milk tea but it's comparable to many places. I recommend the fruit tea drink. I ordered supreme matcha latte which was good but I found it too creamy and less matcha. read more
HEYTEA is one of my favorite drink/boba places. I've been to the Rowland Heights location in the past but I think they recently closed that one so I was so happy to see a location open up here in San Diego! I'm still exploring some of the menu options but I love the Grapefruit Mango Boom and the regular Coconut Mango Boom as well! For matcha I like the Jasmine Matcha Latte, for more tea taste or the Cloud Coconut Blue for more coconut taste. While I wouldn't say the drinks are much more superior than other boba places, I like that they have a variety of drinks that they make very well (boba milk tea, fruity, matcha). AND they have a 0 cal sweetener option which means it won't feel so bad getting a sweet treat after dinner/ late at night! I'll be back once the crowd dies down a bit more. read more

We got the mango grapefruit bloom and the mango coconut bloom. Both were excellent and not too sweet. The textures all worked well with the sago and pieces of fruit. - made it out to the new opening! i've always been a big fan of heytea so im glad they opened up in sd :) - the line was extended pass several stores but the wait didn't feel long at all, it moved pretty quickly - i'm so impressed with the kind staff and their efficiency - our drinks came out so quickly too drinks: loved the new triple matcha - it has matcha mochi, matcha jelly, the matcha latte itself and a match cloud :0 it already comes less sweet which is perfect for letting the matcha shine read more

Heytea came highly recommended by friends so I decided to check it out. The shop is very modern with natural tones. The line was only 2 people long when we arrived around noon on a Sunday. One thing I didn't like was the menu was not visible until you arrive at the register so that definitely slowed down the process and made it stressful to quickly pick a drink while the line was piling up behind us. The menu also provided no descriptions on what the differences between all the matcha drinks were so I honestly had no idea what I was ordering. Which is pretty disappointing when the drinks are around $8. I also didn't like the inability to adjust the sweetness levels which is fairly common at these types of shops. When we ordered the employee said the drinks would take 25-30 minutes. After 30 minutes we wanted to check the status of our order and I didn't appreciate having to download an app and make an account just to see the status. Seems like there were so many mobile orders that it ended up taking 50 minutes to get our drinks. I was really disappointed in the difference in wait time vs what we were told. The triple matcha was delicious and smooth with a strong but not bitter match flavor. It had jellies and cheese foam. The mango blue coconut drink also had jellies with a strong mango flavor but this drink was much too sweet for my preferences. Overall I think the drinks are highly quality with good flavors but it's a lot of effort and expense to wait almost an hour for 2 drinks so I'm not sure I'll be coming back. read more

This location is almost never busy, which makes it such a nice spot to grab a drink without the wait! The workers here are always super friendly, and the drinks are consistently delicious every time. I especially love all their mango variations -- the Mango Grapefruit Boom, Coconut Mango Boom, and Coconut Mango Blue are all amazing! Definitely one of my favorite Hey Tea locations. read more

I went here on a Saturday, around noon. I must have come at the right time, because there was a short line. I ordered the mango grapefruit boom ($7.99) which is their most popular drink. I got the 70% sweetness at the recommendation of the cashier. I didn't have to wait long for the drink either, it took less than 5 minutes. The drink was delicious, it had chunks of mango and grapefruit and coconut milk/cream. The sago pearls and jelly(?) were a nice touch. I'd definitely get it again! There is no indoor seating, but there are patios outside. My only issue was that it's a bit expensive. Overall, I'd come back to try their other drinks, or get the mango grapefruit boom again. read more

Stopped by the Del Mar Heytea since I love boba and this franchise has a lot of hype! It's definitely on the pricey side for drinks, and I was surprised there weren't more actual tea options -- this spot is really more about creative fruit slushies and fun, colorful drinks. The menu could use some clearer descriptions since the names alone don't give you much idea of what's inside unless you ask. That said, the drinks themselves were tasty. I tried the Coconut Blue Matcha, which was visually gorgeous and had a smooth, subtly sweet flavor, and the Crisp Grape Boom, which was super refreshing and juicy. Overall, a fun treat spot if you're in the mood to splurge a little on something unique. read more

Simple menu, can taste the tea, and friendly staff. Cool grand opening weekend promotion for SD magnet. I enjoyed the cloud jasmine tea and cloud mulberry strawberry. Matcha jelly as good matcha flavor and the sago was cooked nicely. Interior has that sleek modern style boba shop feel. read more

Came on day 3 (Sunday) of grand opening. There was already a line half an hour before opening. Line was organized very well with staff handing out menus and free water/tea while we waited. Most of the line was under shade, which was very nice considering it is currently summer. Line moved at a reasonable speed considering it is grand opening and there being only 1 register. Disregarding the 30 minutes I waited before opening, it took about 45 minutes to order. Took about 10 minutes for my order to come out after ordering. Had some issue due to the BOGO free not applying. Part of it was my bad - I should've checked before paying but they were able to fix that for me after so it was all good. I've had HeyTea once (at the Irvine location) and really enjoyed it. I had the Coconut Mango Boom then which I would highly recommend. Today, I wanted to try a different drink (also there was a BOGO free promo for grand opening) so I decided to get the Triple Supreme Matcha Latte. I also ordered the Matcha Cloud Jasmine Latte for a friend. The triple supreme matcha latte was perfect at less sugar. Light bitter aftertaste but a good option for matcha lovers. It had a matcha jelly at the bottom which had a texture that's kind of like the pudding add-ons at boba shop but firmer. The matcha mochi was very fun to drink - it's not as firm so if you're not into slimy textures, this might not be for you. All in all, I'd recommend trying this place out if you've got some time to wait in line! read more

Take out boba tea shop in a big plaza with plenty of parking. Many workers, so it's fast for order taken and drinks made ready. It's new, so it's pretty clean and it has good tea smell in the shop. I ordered Mango Grapefruit Boom with 50% sugar and it came out pretty good, perfect sweetness. read more
