Terrible service at the High Bar. We sat down at a counter height table and the chair was quite wobbly. Decent views of the mountains, the pool and the sunset. But honestly, we should not have to wait so long to order drinks and food. Our waitress was the only one server for the six or seven occupied tables. As we waited, we noticed another table was wondering where their order was. We looked around for the waitress and she wasn't on the floor, where did she go? Then my husband noticed all the waitstaff on the floor disappeared. Bartenders were there, awaiting drink orders. That was our cue to go somewhere else. We ended up at Il Corso and received excellent service from all the waitstaff who were very attentive. read more

Awesome views but overpriced for mediocre drinks at best. Bartenders are not friendly; only interested in getting your order, making your drink & cashing you out. Not welcoming at all. Like I mentioned, views are great but to be honest, I am much more apt to choose other views with friendlier service when paying $14 for a cocktail. read more

Extremely disappointing. They stop serving food at 6:30 so when we were there at 7:00 we were unable to order anything to eat along with our cocktails. Margaritas and wine were served in highball glasses . The margaritas only filled halfway up the plastic glass and was mostly ice. The red wine was served in the same kind of glass, surprisingly, a cheap plastic glass and the serving was minimalist. Tables were dirty food and trash on the floor and no attempt by the staff to clean it or to make the ambiance anything more than what might have been a street taco stand on a busy street with trash . From the service to the drinks, our experience was terrible. Sitting at the bar top you could smell rotten fruit, which means they weren't cleaning things correctly. We went on this last Saturday night and it was moderately busy, but definitely not busy enough to warrant how unorganized and rude their staff was. 3 people ordered margaritas and after waiting 20 minutes got them served with a ton of soda water. Like full carbonation in a tall glasses. The waitress, who was disgruntled and gave us attitude the whole time, said they were "out of the short glasses and didn't want to make it seem like they were ripping us off" so they completely watered it down and then 10 minutes later served another person their drink in a short margarita glass. The kicker that really ended it all was that they gave one of us wine in a plastic champagne flute. They couldn't keep anyones tabs straight even though they are a rooftop bar and all of their servers/bartenders were within 30ft of each other. When we were trying to close out, I got charged for 5 drinks when I only had 2 (1 being a very poorly made martini that I drank purely because I didn't want to pay for another catastrophe drink). All in all it was an awful experience and do not go here on a Saturday night if you're looking for any type of good service. Can confirm we will not be going back. read more

It's such a shame how this amazing location and view are ruined by the service. We were sat by a hostess and then our server came to our table and told us the table was reserved and we had to check in with the hostess. The server for some reason just assumed we just sat ourselves without even checking in. We ordered our drinks and some food. The drinks literally took 30 minutes to get served to us. They were just simple drinks and my drink , bourbon and soda, had less than probably half a shot in it. Our food came out about 25 minutes after our drinks, so we had empty drinks with our food because we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for more drinks. The server didn't even ask if I wanted another drink even though my glass was empty when she brought out the extremely oversalted nuggets. We were so over it we left as quickly as possible read more

I had high hopes for this place. Went there on a Monday afternoon. The view was beautiful. Had a couple drinks and some food. First, service, very slow. They had one or two servers and were servicing the pool area and the bar. Second. Drinks were actually balanced and good. Not too tart or sweet. I was very pleased with the cocktails. Honesty the view and cocktails are the only saving grace. Third and worst. The food. I ordered a lettuce wrap that was supposed to have roasted corn, black beams, watermelon radish, red pepper and a ponzu sauce. I added shrimp for an additional 8 bucks. Ok...there was no watermelon radish and the mix of "roasted corn" , back beams and red peppers looked like and tasted like it came from a jar. Like a corn salsa that was purchased from Trader Joe's. There were three warps and a total of six shrimp that were previously frozen and so over cooked they were mush. All of this served on a leaf of bib lettuce. It looked like something a parent made with their third grader. When the bill came the up charge on the shrimp was 12 dollars and not 8 as was promoted on the menu. They did fix that. The dish was served with no plates, napkins or silverware. I had to ask for all of the above. It was a terrible dish. I realize how hard the hospitality industry has been hit in California due to the inadequacies of our elected officials and shutting business down. I know how hard it's been to keep staff and have products on hand for consumers. I hope my experience there was due to business just opening back up and having limited staff and product on hand, that said, there's no excuse for poor service. read more

Be careful people when you sign your credit card bill for drinks here as the staff is adding extra tip to the bill. Keep your receipt and balance it with your credit card statement. Beware of Karisma, the server. As if the drinks aren't expensive enough but then additional tip on top of the 20% we left her. Not a good way to treat your local Palm Springs community. read more

The only reason I frequent High Bar is due to its amazing views/vibe (come here around 6 for an amazing sunset). Drinks have a unique twist and are flavorful but could use more booze (given the prices). Service could use some sprucing, the couple of times we have been here we have had a difficult time getting the waiters/bartenders attention, they seem too concerned with their own personal conversations. If management addresses those things I feel like their ratings would be through the roof (pun intended). read more

The views are great and the service was good with friendly servers and bartenders but the drinks and food were horrible overpriced and unappealing. Their "craft cocktail" offerings were unbalanced and were basically basic cocktails with the addition of some "unique" ingredient like passion fruit in a gin and tonic or dates in an Old Fashioned. Definitely couldn't justify the $14 price tag for drinks. Even classic cocktails like a standard old fashioned were made hastily and used filler ingredients like club soda instead of true simple syrup. On top of all this, everything is served in plastic. Oh, and $11 gets you soggy French fries and $21 gets you 3-5 shrimp (server warned us that only three jumbo shrimp would be on the plate then seemed surprised when five appeared). For good food and excellent craft cocktails, head to a place like Truss & Twine. But hey, nice view. read more

Well, It is a lovely rooftop area...unfortunately that was all the good I can say about it. It wasn't horrible or anything but here are the cons... We sat at the cushioned lounge like area and although the view is great when you are standing...you see none of that when seated. The service was just average. My vodka martini was served in a very small plastic margarita glass...pretty unappealing for the price of drinks there. I know its a pool area, but the lounges are far from the pool and the pool was cordoned off anyway. Not really their fault, I just hate getting an expensive cocktail at a nice place in a dingy plastic container. We were 5 people and none of us felt the need to return here... After a delightful start to the evening at a nearby event, we decided to try the HIGH Bar. We are local residents and usually wait a bit before trying a new place - let them work out the bugs. Now open 6 months we were very disappointed. We walked in at 7:45, had to flag a waitress after 15 minutes of waiting, waited 15 minutes for drinks to arrive and immediately asked for some food. Long story short we never saw the waitress again, did not get food, so we waved over someone else and told them to close us out. Michael who was not our server apologized for the trouble, had already removed the unserved food from our tab, we paid and left at 9:00. Others who have reviewed HIGH Bar seem to have had similar issues. Could be a great place to sit and have a drink or 2 but service is just not what you would expect from KIMPTON. read more

If this review were based solely on the quality of drinks served this review would be 5 stars. But a credible review must be based on the entire experience so here it goes. We wanted to check this place out because our friends that live here said it was new and wanted to try it. The bar opened at 530pm which is when we walked in. Before just sitting asst the bar we wanted to look around and see what our seating options were. It was slightly uncomfortable when we noticed a staff member following us around. Once on the patio the staff member came and asked us if he could help us. We told him it was our first time here just wanted to check the place out. He told us we couldn't sit out there. We went inside where we were literally the ONLY people in the bar. Went to sit at a table next to the bar. Another employee came over and asked us if we planned to eat. We said we were probably only going to have drinks for now. He then told us that we couldn't sit here. We all thought it was weird that not only were employees filtering is around the bar but that we had now been told we couldn't sit in 3 different places. Apparently if you aren't ready to commit to a meal your only seating option is at the bar top. The drinks really were amazing and had we not been treated the way we were, we likely would have stayed and had dinner and several more drinks. But due to service we left and spent our money at a bar we were welcomed into and treated incredibly nice. Would I recommend this place..... NO! read more

We must have been there on a bad night based on other reviews. The view is beautiful, and the fries are outstanding...but then it goes down from there. I ordered a lemon drop, which seemed to be watered down with soda water or 7-up--not what you do with a martini drink. My husband had a beer which was slightly cold, but the glass was hot, which soon made the beer warm. I realize it's outside in the desert, but maybe the glasses should be refrigerated? I had the chop chop salad, which had beautiful fresh greens, but seemed to have no dressing on it, and had no taste. I ordered extra dressing (which was supposed to be blue cheese), and it arrived with the consistency and taste of milk--it was just runny and bland. My husband ordered the sliders, which arrived extra rare and were inedible. We didn't send anything back, because we never saw the waitress again. The staff was not very present, and totally low energy--didn't seem to care at all. read more

So..... me and the wife are constant visitors of the Palm Springs area. We stumbled upon the hotel by eating down the street. So we see this hotel rowen... and say let's check it out... we go into the hotel, take elevators up to the roof top and were sold on the ambiance. We were already pondering on staying a second night so we said fuck it let's stay here. So we get a room check and come up to the pool. The service was bar none all the way from the guy letting us in through the door to the service getting us our drinks. They messed up one of our drinks I think because I was already somewhat buzzed but I could tell the difference from a margarita and a Mojito. I got us a drink with a tequila shot to top it off for the both of us. Anyhow the musica Was good throughout the day all the way to the evening in the area is quite modern.
