James Trees does it again! We decided to go to the bar and grab some light bites and a drink. I have been up here before when Voodoo Steak was here, but they have really dressed up the inside of this place in such a beautiful way. There are only 7 seats at the bar, and eventually they all filled. The bartenders were extremely helpful and friendly. They asked if we wanted bread and we said yes...they have a mustard butter that is phenomenal here, but hubby only likes regular butter so they brought both. Great service! We ordered two glasses of Rose' for a very fair price and they were good pours. Hub wanted the prime rib slider so he ordered two of those, I got the Ahi tartare and we split a mashed potatoes. The food was extremely good, I especially loved the potatoes. We wish we had room for dessert, but we were too full...next time I gotta try those Key lime donuts.

*** Review for Restaurant Week 2026 menu *** This is probably one of the top five meals I've had in Las Vegas. The RW menu, like all participants, are generally chosen from the exisiting menu. With High Steaks, there were many choices for each of the four courses and I was informed that the menu was flexible. The restaurant is on the 50th floor of the Maquerade Tower of the Rio Hotel. You start by going to the 2nd floor of the casino. There's a check in place there. You are guided to the elevators and wait for one to arrive. When you enter the restaurant, you notice the views. I was taken to my booth close to the east side of the room with a good view. I had studied the menu online and knew escatly what I wanted. For Course 1, I chose the wild game tartare, a mixture of bison, venison, elk, and boar with egguolks and a bit of salty tapenade. It come with small pieces of bread to enjoy. For course 2, I chose the smoked prime rib. Not having that before, I didn't know what to expect. It was superb! A bit of a different flavor but I'll be back to have that again. Course 3 was creamed spinach. Standard and a nice accompaniment to the meal. Finally, course 4, desseet, I had to try the Black Forest Pieecaken.. That's cherry pie inside chocolate cheesecake. It;s topped with cocoa whipped bream and there's some cherry sauce on the sdife of the piecaken. Before ordering, I was told by John, my server and go to person, to feel free to go out and take photos. I had been here two times before when it was a different restaurant. The view outside is amazing, too! I hesitate to call John my server because he was my guide through the evening. Always coming by to see how everything was, answering questions, and being a very personable guy. This was a meal I'll remember for a long while. James Trees has done it again. I have to go back in the future and have that smoked prime rib. An outstanding evening.

Since hearing about High Steak Vegas, I was excited to dine here. I heard that Chef James Trees was going to open this steakhouse and I've been to all of his other restaurants, so we finally gave High Steaks Vegas a try. Easy to make reservations and the restaurant is pretty good in size. Great for larger parties. Also, I like sitting on the South East side of the restaurant. I think it has better views during the evening hours. Our servers name was Adrian and he was very nice and professional. He checked up on us but didn't bother us often. :) Food: In a year I'll have an alcoholic beverage but for now, I'll drink water. Crab Cake Rib Eye Steak Medium temperature with Prawns Creamed Spinach The steak was cooked and seasoned to my liking. The crab cake was delicious and to me it tasted really good. I squeezed lemon to give a little acidic flavor. The Prawns were okay. Nothing stood out but it was still good. I enjoyed the cream spinach too. It complimented the steak well. Great date night spot and I loved going outside to take photos.

We dined here last night May 2nd, 2026. I made reservations a few weeks prior once we decided we were going to Penn and teller. We made the reservation for 3 as we were having a friend join after she got off work. I was excited to try this place knowing it used to be the iconic voodoo steak the reviews online raved about the food. We got seated immediately and had some time to look at the menu, the menu is fantastic and has a variety of different items to choose from I love that they have bison steak, we ordered the wedge salad to start as well as the 8oz filet, smoked fried chicken and the Yukon gold mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, and also the asparagus gratin Oscar style. The food was absolutely amazing the chicken was so juicy and cooked just right, my boyfriend did the steak was okay it wasn't cooked correctly, the potatoes were delicious and the asparagus gratin was good just very rich. The ambiance of the restaurant it's nice beautiful views of all of Las Vegas including the mountains. They also have an outdoor area where voodoo lounge is and you can see the Las Vegas strip, sometimes I'm amazed at the fact that I live here we have such a beautiful city we are so lucky we can experience the luxuries like this. For desert we ordered the hummingbird cake and a chocolate ice cream. Everything was very good and we had a great dinner.

I'd go again in a heartbeat if money was not a problem High Steaks is definitely a great place for date nights and to celebrate all other special occasions. The service is amazing, the food and drinks are a hit, and the views are incredible! Thanks for the birthday treat!

This is a very nice restaurant. I loved the rich green walls when you walk in. The staff was so nice and welcoming as well. The food was really good. I did not love how my lobster turned out, it was over cooked and rubbery but the steak was delicious. The bread was also good but the mustard butter was overpowering. This is a great date night spot with impeccible views. Give it a try!

Really enjoyed my meal here. The seafood appetizer was delicious (see photo) and the prime rib was thick cut, perfectly cooked rare and oozing flavor. And the bread, oooh, just look at the photo! Service at the bar was friendly and efficient. The only downside are the high prices which unfortunately are endemic now. The food at the Rio is second to none. I will definitely return when I am staying at here.

They surprised me! This is an excellent restaurant in a somewhat tired casino. I was taken here as a surprise for my birthday. Once you get up to the restaurant on the 50th floor you have a beautiful view of the strip. They even have a nice large patio where you can enjoy your drinks outside. (No food service on the patio). The food was phenomenal! The chef is James Beard from Esther's Kitchen. We started off with with a Tom Collin's, then went for the crab cakes which were full of fresh crab, & had a corn relish around it. Then opted for the chopped salad which was great. Then came the "smoked" prime rib! I have never had it smoked before, & that's all I what now. It was so good. We chose the scalloped potatoes & creamed spinach as sides & they did not disappoint. Everything we had was so good. The food & the view were spectacular! The noise level was somewhat loud, as they had a large convention table next to us. Just go & enjoy the restaurant, the elevator that takes you there is a little dated & could use an air freshener. But once you get up there it is great food experience!

Came to High Steaks Vegas for restaurant week, what better way to sample some great food then during restaurant week. Perched on the 50th floor of the Masquerade tower of the Rio hotel, this new restaurant but chef James Trees, IYKYK, is a hit for sure. Their restaurant week menu had some very solid choices to put together a phenomenal meal. The service was incredible and the view was well worth the price of admission. Highly recommend.

High Steaks which is great already is special to me because my fiance proposed to me here. To start, the view is incredible. The outdoor patio of the restaurant which is at the very top of the Rio allows you to overlook the entire strip. While inside, the layout wraps around the circumference of the space so this provides several tables next to the glass for a view of the city and below. Staff were fantastic and very detail oriented. Our server gave great info on the menu, checked in often, but at the right moments and not too too often so as to not interrupt our time together. The food was delicious. Steak was fantastic (top 3 spots for my fiance), the calamari and Mac and cheese were delicious, and I loved the squid ink pasta which was perfectly acidic from the red sauce and savory. And the noodles had a nice bite to them.

Currently Chef James Trees' sixth Las Vegas venture, and the first proper Restaurant in a Casino following quick-casual concepts at The Strat and Resorts World, High Steaks Vegas opened in October 2025 replacing VooDoo Steak & VooDoo Lounge atop the Rio's Masquerade Tower. At one time a premier Off-Strip destination for locals and tourists alike, High Steaks and other new eateries see casino brass attempting to resurrect a derelict property with free parking, affordable Alcohol and the sort of Food worth getting excited about. Visited very early, service and expediting predictably green across an immense dining room, six month's practice now sees High Steaks' front of house humming while panoramic views of Las Vegas come at a fraction of the cost of Top of The World, Foundation Room or whatever replaces Vetri at The Palms. No doubt a space willing to take chances to capture locals, a bottle of Malbec nearly 67%-off compared to a Strip Steakhouse visited three days prior, housemade Bread offers a stretchy surface complimented by Mustard Butter while several sizes of Seafood Tower deliver Prawns and Crudo plus the usual Lobster, Oysters and Crab. Taking on several common themes for Starters, Bar Boheme's French Onion Soup ported over perfectly to the Rio, Bone Marrow delivers immense impact while Crab Cakes and Bacon are enjoyable if not "wowing" in comparison to a tangle of Spring Peas and "Fried Artichokes" that riff on classic Spinach and Artichoke Dip with impressive results. Not an "Italian Steakhouse," though Trees and team smartly flex their muscles with a couple of Pastas, diners tired of the same ol' Steak & Salmon will love "The Hunt" with Boar, Elk, Venison and "Lion" in the form of a Vegan-friendly Mushroom treated to a multi-step process that will impress Carnivores, as well. Offering 18oz of Tasmanian Wagyu Ribeye for less than $90, unheard of in this city post-Pandemic, Salisbury Steak is now gone due to poor sales while Fried Chicken is first brined and smoked for great depth of flavor. Recently adding seasonal Tortellini with Scallops, a dish that would not be out of place at Esther's, current sides range from Creamed Spinach to Asparagus with King Crab and Spuds baked, mashed, fried or dressed up plus Radiatore alla Vodka. Not forgetting Head-on Branzino, grilled and brightened by Cumin and Coriander Honey, Chef Jake Yergensen's Desserts continue to set a high bar as High Steaks' "Piecaken" straddles a fine line between French Silk and Black Forest while the Souffle and Donuts with impeccable Coconut Ice Cream are enjoyable, but not quite on the level of Hummingbird Cake made exactly as it aught to be.

This is a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view of Vegas. I believe it's a hidden gem inside Rio on the 51st floor that offers views at your table and where you can walk outside on the patio to enjoy the drinks and views while you wait for your food. Our appetizer was a beef tartar. We ordered the surf and turf, New York strip with a side of Brussels sprouts and scalloped potatoes. Everything is very good but we were beyond floored by the BRUSSELS! It had an amazing crispy and flavor, best I've ever had! Ashely was our server and (I believe his name is) Paco -- they were so welcoming and kind.

Bone Marrow, Lobster Chowder, Ribeye, Tandoor Chilean Sea Bass, Chef Joe's Scalloped Potatoes, Cake Pops & Hummingbird Cake.

While in Vegas you should definitely get a nice steak dinner and Peter Luger is a great option…read more It's located in Caesars Palace alongside other good restaurants including the buffet. It definitely brings the NYC feel once you step inside. It was dinner time so it was quite busy but I feel like service in Vegas has figured it out - how to deliver fast friendly service. To start naturally we ordered some drinks that fit the vibe, classic strong drinks that went well with steak. While I am usually a filet mignon person, our table selected the steak for 2 which turned out to be a good amount for us. Plus the butter it's smothered in is amazing. For our other sides we selected the Caesar salad (fitting because we were in Caesar's :) and the crab cake (another favorite of mine). Note there are $$$$ signs so do not expect it to be cheap. But for the quality, taste and atmosphere it was worth it and I hope to visit the NYC location sometime as well.

I came into Peter Luger Las Vegas with sky-high expectations. As a legendary Brooklyn institution,…read moreyou expect two things: iconic dry-aged beef and crisp, sharp execution. What we actually got was sluggish, absent service and a steak cooked so poorly it belonged in a mid-tier diner. The Service: Ignored from Start to Finish Rather than the quick, direct, old-school service Luger is famous for, our experience was defined by sluggish neglect. The Wait: We spent entirely too much time trying to catch our server's eye for simple requests--water refills, order updates, and check-ins were practically non-existent. The Flow: Courses dragged, plates sat, and by the time our food reached the table, the energy of the night was already gone. When you're paying top-dollar prices, waiting around while being actively ignored ruins the entire ambiance. The Steak: A Text-Book "Grey Band" Disaster "A $180+ porterhouse should have an edge-to-edge perfect medium-rare with a roaring crust. What landed on our table looked tired and mismanaged." The Cook: The cross-section said it all. The meat had a massive, thick grey ring of overcooked, tough beef wrapping around a tiny patch of pink in the center. It was uneven, poorly rested, or left sitting under a heat lamp while service languished. Where's the Sizzle? The steak arrived dull and dry on top. The iconic Luger presentation--sizzling hot butter aggressively spooned over a glistening platter--was completely absent. The Flavor: Because of the heavy grey gradient, most bites were chewy and dry rather than tender and nutty. The Sides & Verdict The loaded baked potato topped with a mountain of bacon lardons looked great and tasted fine, but no side dish on earth can rescue an evening when the primary steak is ruined. Las Vegas has one of the most competitive steakhouse scenes in the world. With options like Bavette's, SW, and Cut just down the Strip, there is zero excuse for slow service and an amateurish cook on a flagship cut. Skip the hype and save your money. You're paying flagship prices for amateur-level execution.

Why isn't this establishment a Michelin starred restaurant?…read more The service is impeccable. The surroundings and staff are pleasant. We came here for a celebratory birthday for a friend and they treated us correct. Everyone had the filet and it melted as soon as we put the knife on it. I woke up to what really is a medium well steak. Not too dry and borderline a little red but it was moist. Juan Carlos took great care of us. Unfortunately they do t honor military discount.

I hadn't been here in quite a few years and my last experience was nothing to write home about…read more A friend suggested it for dinner and I thought I would just go along since it was a group of 6 of us. This place is......not good. I'm honestly blown away by some of the reviews. The food, the service, the vibe - it was all lacking. I eat at a lot of steakhouses, so I may have higher expectations than the average diner. Service: - Our server was very friendly, but forgot about us the entire back half of our meal (we even skipped ordering dessert because we were completely forgotten about and sat there for so long after finishing dinner). - He was not well versed in handling wine (which IMO in unacceptable for an "award winning steakhouse"). He handled the wine glasses by the bowl instead of the stem and poured extremely large servings, about 4 oversized glasses from a single bottle. Food: - The steak tartare was very thick, large chunks instead of a classic fine mince. It was served with tasteless bread that had heavy black grill marks on it. Would never order again. - The calamari and brussels were both tasty and fine. - My NY strip was so full of tendons that I couldn't even chew through it some of it. I can't remember the last time I actually left a piece of steak on my plate from a dinner. - We were ordered a flight of steak sauces and they were spread all over the table with no explanation of what was what. - As for sides, we ordered mash, mac and cheese, broccolini and cauliflower....all very average. Vibe: - completely lacked ambiance. The lighting was bright, there was no background music, and it felt more like a casual neighborhood diner than a place you'd expect to enjoy a nice steak dinner. Unfortunately, this visit reminded me why it had been years since my last visit. Between the average food, inconsistent service, and lackluster atmosphere, I left genuinely wondering how this restaurant has earned such high ratings. Summerlin has far too many incredible restaurants to justify another visit, and for a steakhouse, I'd choose T-Bones or Harlo every time.
