Since hearing about High Steak Vegas, I was excited to dine here. I heard that Chef James Trees was going to open this steakhouse and I've been to all of his other restaurants, so we finally gave High Steaks Vegas a try. Easy to make reservations and the restaurant is pretty good in size. Great for larger parties. Also, I like sitting on the South East side of the restaurant. I think it has better views during the evening hours. Our servers name was Adrian and he was very nice and professional. He checked up on us but didn't bother us often. :) Food: In a year I'll have an alcoholic beverage but for now, I'll drink water. Crab Cake Rib Eye Steak Medium temperature with Prawns Creamed Spinach The steak was cooked and seasoned to my liking. The crab cake was delicious and to me it tasted really good. I squeezed lemon to give a little acidic flavor. The Prawns were okay. Nothing stood out but it was still good. I enjoyed the cream spinach too. It complimented the steak well. Great date night spot and I loved going outside to take photos.

I'd go again in a heartbeat if money was not a problem High Steaks is definitely a great place for date nights and to celebrate all other special occasions. The service is amazing, the food and drinks are a hit, and the views are incredible! Thanks for the birthday treat!

We dined here last night May 2nd, 2026. I made reservations a few weeks prior once we decided we were going to Penn and teller. We made the reservation for 3 as we were having a friend join after she got off work. I was excited to try this place knowing it used to be the iconic voodoo steak the reviews online raved about the food. We got seated immediately and had some time to look at the menu, the menu is fantastic and has a variety of different items to choose from I love that they have bison steak, we ordered the wedge salad to start as well as the 8oz filet, smoked fried chicken and the Yukon gold mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, and also the asparagus gratin Oscar style. The food was absolutely amazing the chicken was so juicy and cooked just right, my boyfriend did the steak was okay it wasn't cooked correctly, the potatoes were delicious and the asparagus gratin was good just very rich. The ambiance of the restaurant it's nice beautiful views of all of Las Vegas including the mountains. They also have an outdoor area where voodoo lounge is and you can see the Las Vegas strip, sometimes I'm amazed at the fact that I live here we have such a beautiful city we are so lucky we can experience the luxuries like this. For desert we ordered the hummingbird cake and a chocolate ice cream. Everything was very good and we had a great dinner.

Came to High Steaks Vegas for restaurant week, what better way to sample some great food then during restaurant week. Perched on the 50th floor of the Masquerade tower of the Rio hotel, this new restaurant but chef James Trees, IYKYK, is a hit for sure. Their restaurant week menu had some very solid choices to put together a phenomenal meal. The service was incredible and the view was well worth the price of admission. Highly recommend.

This is a very nice restaurant. I loved the rich green walls when you walk in. The staff was so nice and welcoming as well. The food was really good. I did not love how my lobster turned out, it was over cooked and rubbery but the steak was delicious. The bread was also good but the mustard butter was overpowering. This is a great date night spot with impeccible views. Give it a try!

Currently Chef James Trees' sixth Las Vegas venture, and the first proper Restaurant in a Casino following quick-casual concepts at The Strat and Resorts World, High Steaks Vegas opened in October 2025 replacing VooDoo Steak & VooDoo Lounge atop the Rio's Masquerade Tower. At one time a premier Off-Strip destination for locals and tourists alike, High Steaks and other new eateries see casino brass attempting to resurrect a derelict property with free parking, affordable Alcohol and the sort of Food worth getting excited about. Visited very early, service and expediting predictably green across an immense dining room, six month's practice now sees High Steaks' front of house humming while panoramic views of Las Vegas come at a fraction of the cost of Top of The World, Foundation Room or whatever replaces Vetri at The Palms. No doubt a space willing to take chances to capture locals, a bottle of Malbec nearly 67%-off compared to a Strip Steakhouse visited three days prior, housemade Bread offers a stretchy surface complimented by Mustard Butter while several sizes of Seafood Tower deliver Prawns and Crudo plus the usual Lobster, Oysters and Crab. Taking on several common themes for Starters, Bar Boheme's French Onion Soup ported over perfectly to the Rio, Bone Marrow delivers immense impact while Crab Cakes and Bacon are enjoyable if not "wowing" in comparison to a tangle of Spring Peas and "Fried Artichokes" that riff on classic Spinach and Artichoke Dip with impressive results. Not an "Italian Steakhouse," though Trees and team smartly flex their muscles with a couple of Pastas, diners tired of the same ol' Steak & Salmon will love "The Hunt" with Boar, Elk, Venison and "Lion" in the form of a Vegan-friendly Mushroom treated to a multi-step process that will impress Carnivores, as well. Offering 18oz of Tasmanian Wagyu Ribeye for less than $90, unheard of in this city post-Pandemic, Salisbury Steak is now gone due to poor sales while Fried Chicken is first brined and smoked for great depth of flavor. Recently adding seasonal Tortellini with Scallops, a dish that would not be out of place at Esther's, current sides range from Creamed Spinach to Asparagus with King Crab and Spuds baked, mashed, fried or dressed up plus Radiatore alla Vodka. Not forgetting Head-on Branzino, grilled and brightened by Cumin and Coriander Honey, Chef Jake Yergensen's Desserts continue to set a high bar as High Steaks' "Piecaken" straddles a fine line between French Silk and Black Forest while the Souffle and Donuts with impeccable Coconut Ice Cream are enjoyable, but not quite on the level of Hummingbird Cake made exactly as it aught to be.

Really enjoyed my meal here. The seafood appetizer was delicious (see photo) and the prime rib was thick cut, perfectly cooked rare and oozing flavor. And the bread, oooh, just look at the photo! Service at the bar was friendly and efficient. The only downside are the high prices which unfortunately are endemic now. The food at the Rio is second to none. I will definitely return when I am staying at here.

They surprised me! This is an excellent restaurant in a somewhat tired casino. I was taken here as a surprise for my birthday. Once you get up to the restaurant on the 50th floor you have a beautiful view of the strip. They even have a nice large patio where you can enjoy your drinks outside. (No food service on the patio). The food was phenomenal! The chef is James Beard from Esther's Kitchen. We started off with with a Tom Collin's, then went for the crab cakes which were full of fresh crab, & had a corn relish around it. Then opted for the chopped salad which was great. Then came the "smoked" prime rib! I have never had it smoked before, & that's all I what now. It was so good. We chose the scalloped potatoes & creamed spinach as sides & they did not disappoint. Everything we had was so good. The food & the view were spectacular! The noise level was somewhat loud, as they had a large convention table next to us. Just go & enjoy the restaurant, the elevator that takes you there is a little dated & could use an air freshener. But once you get up there it is great food experience!

High Steaks which is great already is special to me because my fiance proposed to me here. To start, the view is incredible. The outdoor patio of the restaurant which is at the very top of the Rio allows you to overlook the entire strip. While inside, the layout wraps around the circumference of the space so this provides several tables next to the glass for a view of the city and below. Staff were fantastic and very detail oriented. Our server gave great info on the menu, checked in often, but at the right moments and not too too often so as to not interrupt our time together. The food was delicious. Steak was fantastic (top 3 spots for my fiance), the calamari and Mac and cheese were delicious, and I loved the squid ink pasta which was perfectly acidic from the red sauce and savory. And the noodles had a nice bite to them.

This is a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view of Vegas. I believe it's a hidden gem inside Rio on the 51st floor that offers views at your table and where you can walk outside on the patio to enjoy the drinks and views while you wait for your food. Our appetizer was a beef tartar. We ordered the surf and turf, New York strip with a side of Brussels sprouts and scalloped potatoes. Everything is very good but we were beyond floored by the BRUSSELS! It had an amazing crispy and flavor, best I've ever had! Ashely was our server and (I believe his name is) Paco -- they were so welcoming and kind.

My hubby surprised me with a birthday dinner at High Steaks, located on the 50th floor of the Rio hotel, offering stunning views of the Las Vegas Strip. We began our meal with the Bone Marrow, served with red wine onion jam, frisée salad, and sourdough toast, as well as the Lobster Chowder, which included corn, chives, potatoes, and a caramelized puff pastry. For our main course, we shared with our daughter, the Boneless Ribeye and the Tandoor Chilean Sea Bass, which came with spiced chickpeas and a charred eggplant-mint. We also ordered a side of Chef Joe's Scalloped Potatoes with cheddar gratin and caramelized onions. To end the evening, we shared the Hummingbird Cake--a moist banana cake with pineapple and toasted pecans, topped with cream cheese icing and served with butter pecan ice cream. They also surprised us with birthday cake pops for the table. We were very pleased with our meal and service and had a wonderful time on our first visit.

High Steaks is the complete package! The ambiance of Barry's Downtown Prime but add a 50th story view of the entire Vegas Valley. The flavors of the best in the business like Don's Prime. Service that compares to the Golden Steer or Mastro's Beverly Hills. We tried: Wild Game Tartare - wow! I hate olives and this has them apparently but this was hands down the best we've ever had. Where else can you get wild game tartare??? Wedge Salad - upscale wedge, very good Lobster Thermidor - cooked to perfection with apples and pine nuts. Wonderful combination. This was part of their Mother's Day menu so not always available. New York Strip (usda prime) prepared to perfection. Simply seasons and cooked perfect. Highly recommend and will return! Wow! Where do I begin? Upon arrival, we were greeted and taken up to the top. The service was very lovely from the beginning to the end. Everyone smiling and attentive. Our waiter Andy, was very impressive and knew the menu through and through. He recommended some lovely appetizers like the bone marrow and Cesar salad, both were incredible! The bread was also divine but I asked for regular butter because the mustard seed butter it came with was mustard forward and not my cup of tea lol the drinks were so good!!!! I loved my espresso martini! It was so elegant and delicious. My bf ordered the boneless ribeye wild style and it was literally in n out style fries on top of steak. He said it was phenomenal. The burger and fries I ordered were pretty nice. The only complaint I have, the buns were very tough. But by the time my entree came, I had to box it anyways. So full lol. The ambiance was one for the books because it was in the tower, they had a balcony you could take pictures on and walk with drinks. All in all a pleasant steak house.

Me and wifey showed up for our 7:30 PM reservation and was seated immediately and greeted by our server, Nicole (Congratulations on your little one!). She was very pleasant and then TK came out and dropped off a phenomenal sourdough bread slice with a side of bacon jam, I believe. Then we were greeted by manager Derrick, who I'd previously spoke with on the phone and told him we'd be about 5 minutes behind schedule. He told me it was no problem. Derrick's personality was personable to the point where it felt like I knew him already. TK recommended the pepper corn sauce for our steak and then went above and beyond by bringing out several different sauces to try with our steak. I informed Derrick my wife was in PA school and graduating soon and then he went above and beyond by bringing out a complementary dessert for her, which he did not have to do but we were very appreciative of the nice gesture. This experience tonight was one of a kind and I'd gladly come back on my next visit and tell a friend. I've never had such exceptional service at a steakhouse. Much love and thanks to all staff at Primal Steakhouse.

The place was packed, which honestly surprised me given it's tucked on the outskirts of a mall. The entrance, lit with real candles, immediately set the tone--beautiful, a little dramatic, and slightly nerve-wracking (at one point a staff member had to put one out with water). Still, the space feels incredibly cozy and truly lives up to its name--Primal. It gives off a subtle Game of Thrones vibe in the best way. Our drinks at the bar were exactly as described on the menu. I had the Crown Jewel, and my partner ordered the King's Elixir, which came smoked--such a fun touch. We were seated right on time for our 8:00 pm reservation. To start, we ordered the deviled eggs (my boyfriend always goes for these if they're on a menu--even if I can never justify it myself). Our server recommended the lobster bisque, and we'd also seen it on TikTok, so we gave it a try. It was good, though slightly salty for my taste. I will say, compared to what we saw online, ours didn't have the large chunks of lobster we expected. We also ordered the carpaccio, which was spot on--exactly what you'd want from a local steakhouse. We decided on a bottle of wine, but there was a small mix-up. I stepped away briefly, and when I came back, I realized it wasn't the one we originally chose. Not the staff's fault at all--my boyfriend approved it after tasting and seeing the bottle Now, the main event--the steak. Since this was my cheat day, I needed it to be perfect, and it absolutely delivered. I always order my steak charred rare, and most places tend to overcook it, but they got it exactly right. Just the way I like it--practically running away from me. They did me right! We ordered the 28oz bone-in ribeye, a loaded baked potato with thick-cut bacon, and a red pepper risotto. Everything was rich and satisfying. We ended up packing a good portion because I had to save room for dessert. We finished with the Oreo tiramisu--so good Overall, we'll definitely be back. It's a quality local spot that genuinely surprised us, especially since we usually dine on the Strip or at hotel restaurants. A great experience all around.

I recommend asking for a table along the open window (but not a window) so you can look out onto the canal shops. Our server, Ian, was very welcoming and fun. He gave good recommendations and was attentive. We each started with an appetizer. I had the French onion soup which was delicious. It wasn't too salty or cheesy. It also had yummy bits of braised beef in it. My friends had the split pea soup (no cream) and fritto misto which they seemed to like. We all shared the tomahawk steak and sides of sautéed mushrooms and truffle fries. That steak was incredible and so tender. It was cooked to medium perfection and had charred fat. (See video). It came with the crunchiest roasted potatoes. The best part was the crunch bits on the cutting board. The sides were tasty as well and I forgot to mention the bread served once you're seated. It's super soft and the butter is nicely whipped. For cocktails, I really enjoyed the Off the Rails Old Fashioned which you create via a dice game. That was real fun and the drink packs a nice punch. For dessert we shared a decadent and moist chocolate cake slice which was huge for a slice. Overall it was a great experience.

I was actually able to make sure he'd come and even get him to dress up a bit by telling him we were going to a special Yelp Elite event...and it worked! Lol! The atmosphere, style, vibe, service, and even the bathrooms are all worth mentioning. I ordered the Tennessee Sidecar, and it was easy to drink. My favorite cocktail is a classic Sidecar, so I really enjoyed this twist on it. My husband and I shared the Tomahawk for Two. The menu didn't mention that it came with any sides, but it was served with cooked carrots and asparagus in the same pan as the steak. Since we didn't know that ahead of time, we also ordered the whipped potatoes and broccolini. The presentation was beautiful, but unfortunately the tomahawk lacked flavor. My husband and I both ended up adding salt to our steaks, and that's honestly never happened to us at any steakhouse before. The steak itself, however, was cooked perfectly. The carrots, asparagus, and broccolini were all decent, but they also needed a bit of seasoning in our opinion. The standout side for us was definitely the whipped potatoes. Those were delicious! One dish that really caught our attention at the table was the Surf & Turf. It was served with melted butter in a small bowl that sat over an enclosed flame, which made for a really nice presentation. I included a video. As for dessert, I have to admit my husband and I were disappointed. After seeing photos from other reviews that mentioned getting a large slice of rich chocolate cake, I was expecting my husband to receive a nice slice of their chocolate cake for his birthday, too. Instead, he was brought what they called a "Green Velvet Cake," which tasted like a cheesecake-cake hybrid. I'm sorry, but it was very underwhelming. It honestly made me think it was a cake idea from St. Patrick's Day. Not only did it look unappealing to us, but all of that bright green food coloring wasn't exactly appetizing either. We also expected there to be at least one birthday candle, but there wasn't. My husband ended up sticking a toothpick into the cake and pretended it was a candle, which at least gave us a good laugh. I'm also hoping that "birthday dessert" wasn't something we were charged for. Overall, the ambiance is beautiful, the staff was friendly and attentive, and I even loved the bathrooms. Each restroom has its own private sink inside, which was thoughtful and that I really appreciated. (Photos included!) That said, the food my husband and I ordered simply didn't live up to our expectations, especially for a steakhouse at this price point. Because of that, we probably wouldn't choose Smith & Wollensky again for celebrating a family birthday. If we did return, we'd definitely be ordering something different.

The waitstaff were dressed very casual, jeans and t-shirt casual. Although the food is upscale, everything else about this place seems very casual diner like. We could even see most of the work going on in the small kitchen. Mostly shareable plates... Our table chose the deviled eggs with caviar - these were a hit! Dynamite shrimp, most at the table liked these, they were spicy and the flavor was decent, but I just felt like the sauce made the breading a bit soggy and it wasn't a favorite of mine. Pork Belly - This had a buffalo sauce on it, which I wasn't too excited about at first, but it worked better than I expected. Wish it was just a little crispier but it was tender and I enjoyed it. Oxtail risotto - this one had mixed reviews from the table, I really enjoyed it. The flavor was good. There's only a small amount of meat and it's shredded into the risotto. Overall the consistency was a little weird, very thick and almost sticky/dry, plus the dark color. They had a steak on the menu and the flavor was great, one of the pricier menu items but it was a good share. My wife ordered a burger without the bun. She said the patty was well over-cooked and so it was pretty dry. They don't offer gluten-free buns or bread - bummer. The service was generally prompt, but seemed uncoordinated at times. For example, it seemed our waitress was also handling a very large party outside on the patio, and randomly the hostess would bring us a drink refill (hostess stand was right beside our table). That's good in a way, they are all a team, but she also picked up my plate and silverware after only the first appetizer - mind you they bring everything out as it's ready, so don't expect the whole table to eat together, you are expected to share! When I asked if she could replace my silverware, she grabbed a fork and knife and handed to me, but they weren't rolled in a napkin or anything, just barehanded me some silverware... anyway, I thought that was odd. Overall, the food had some bright spots and perhaps worth a lunch if you are downtown. I probably wouldn't seek it out again, but I'm not mad about the meal we had either.
