My friends liked them quite a bit. - Harissa meatball: not bad, maybe not quitenthe flavor pop I hoped for. - Liver mousse: leaned a bit sweet. Good with included pickles which were really needed here. - Steak au poivre: on point - Cocktails were well revived by all, my "Pear Shaped" was full flavored with pear brandy and celery liqueur and caraway and cumin and more, but was very nicely balanced. While this appears to be almost more of a brunch place, it turned out to be very nice for dinner as well. Around $280 out the door for four people not holding back - it did not feel overpriced. Got a bday gift card for this place. And have been there 2 days in a row. Very good options. You order at the counter and take a number and choose your own seat. They have a lovely indoor and really large outdoor space. There's also heaters outside when it gets chilly. Tried the masala chai latte (both hot and cold) both super delicious. They offer alt milk options without up-charging you, which is SO RARE. Honestly, that alone gets them the 5 stars. The fish sandwich was bomb, keep it simple salad was very good. The kale salad was also tasty. And the Kyoto bowl was quite filling. I've enjoyed everything I've tried so far. And will be going again. Street parking only. So that's the only pain. It has Crispy Halloumi, Persian Cucumber, Roasted Tomatoes, Shaved Red Onion, Arugula, Za'atar Spice, Minty Yogurt Dressing, Harissa Mayo, Griddled Bub n Grandma's Focaccia. That minty yogurt with the harissa mayo made this sandwich shine! And the halloumi was perfectly hearty and crispy. The bread was perfect and soft with a good chew. It wasn't too bready. Perfect ratio of filling and bread. If you want some more privacy and fresh air they have an airy and spacious outdoor courtyard in the back. Came here on Memorial Day around 7pm and left feeling pretty mixed about the experience. The space itself is nice, especially the back patio area, but the overall service felt oddly disorganized considering the restaurant wasn't very crowded. We sat outside and it was pretty chilly. We asked three separate times if the heaters could be turned on, and nobody followed up until much, much later into the meal. During that wait, our waitress was mostly just standing around nearby, which made the lack of follow-through a little frustrating. She would check in with us every now and then, but would totally skip over the heater inquiry, funnily enough. Food-wise, there were some inconsistencies too. One in my party tried ordering the Steak Frites au Poivre, only to find out they were out of steak entirely that night after the waitress had to double-check. We also ordered two KISS salads, and one came without the croutons listed on the menu. When we asked about it, the waitress said something along the lines of, "it doesn't, but you'd think it would, right?" before bringing some out afterward. Not a huge issue, just another strange moment... The fish and chips was okay, but I've definitely had better elsewhere, especially at this price point. There was also an incident where a busboy dropped and shattered a bunch of glass near our table. Accidents happen, of course, but the overall energy afterward just felt a little uncomfortable. I suppose I can sum it up and say this meal was a distracting experience. It was hard to focus on my party when these things were happening and taking away from a nice dinner. Pretty solid place with chill vibes, making it one of my new faves in the Highland Park area. In order from most to least favorite: + Puttanesca verde: Note this has got a spicy kick to it and I don't eat spicy food but I stuck with it. If you love spicy, definitely worth ordering this. Very flavorful with a balance of sour from the capers and spicy from what I think may be jalapeños or chiles in the mix. + Schnitzel: Very good amount of meat to batter. The mustard is mixed in with horseradish so it's pretty unique, although on the stronger end. + Yuzu meringue: A top favorite from the staff. This isn't too heavy and has a good balance of textures, although the yuzu didn't stand out too much for me. + Endive Tahini Caesar: I didn't take any stars off for this but I wouldn't recommend this dish. Overall not a bad trip, but some things to note are the price of everything is expensive, I would say. However, the food was very flavorful. I got the New Burger, and it was like any regular burger--nothing too special, but overall enjoyable. But, on another note, the place was gorgeous and had a very green, hipster atmosphere to it. Very nice ambience the food looks pretty good even though I haven't tried it yet. I had a cortado. And it was nice sitting there until I realized a foul smell. I thought it was my upper lip, but I looked to the right and I noticed that the dumpsters were off to the side. I'm assuming that's where the smell was coming from, which started to make sense to me why no one was sitting off to the sides of the table. So I had to quickly pack my stuff and leave because the smell of garbage was driving me insane and overtaking my olfactory. I went inside and the smell lingered inside as well. Next time I know to sit far away from the dumpsters. It could have been that or it could have been a dumpster truck that drove by since it was Tuesday aka Trash day. I came here a couple of weeks ago to treat my friend to a birthday dinner, we really enjoyed the artichoke fritto and steak frites; I was so excited about finding a delicious new spot that i INSISTED my boyfriend and I have a date night here... unfortunately upon this second visit I left incredibly disappointed. The artichoke fritto was still perfectly fried but the hearts were rubbery with hard pieces. I also ordered the fettuccine alfredo with grilled chicken; the pasta was fresh and the serving was generous, but i could tell just by looking at the chicken that it was incredibly dry, so much so that i lost my appetite as soon as i saw it I had the flower power both visits, and i can say that cocktail is incredibly delicious and consistent! Great place to go for a date night! It's super hipster and provides an intimate atmosphere with an exotic city feel. The service was excellent and the servers were super friendly. We ate here for dinner and I believe we had the Adobo dish and a Thai curry cauliflower salad. They were delicious takes on Asian flavors that made me want to keep eating more. The flavor never gets old! Growing up with Filipino food, I was skeptical the adobo would be any different from what I've had in the past. However, the meat just melts in your mouth and has a good balance of salt, sour, and sweet. I was delighted to see a different take on adobo. I will say though it was a bit dark at night which made it a bit harder to see the food, but the taste itself shined through. We ate in the outdoor area which had less lighting than inside.
